What do you do about errr ....<coughs> sex when camping?

I have to say I found it a bit inhibiting.

Toddler asleep a few metres away, but that wasn't really the biggest issue.

I couldn't really get rid of the knowldge that there were loads of people sitting around their tents and the only thing dividing them from our bonking was a bit of nylon.

Very paranoid about making any noise and then it was a bit of a faff errr... clearing up afterwards....

Do you all go at it like randy teenagers under canvas or was I not alone in mostly chastely reading a chapter of my book of a night-time?

No way. You can hear everything. Ds2 never asleep before about 10:30 and by then the campsite was deathly silent. With 4 children sleeping close by the thought couldn't have been further from from mind.

onetiredmummy · 15/08/2009 14:12

Not in a tent. Afternoon outside sex is better!

oneopinionatedmother · 15/08/2009 14:17

i have just come back from three days camping on a site with no shower. So no, defintely no sex, unless i want a UTI.

also my 7mo demonstrated on night 1 his ability to shriek like he's being killed - got rather sensitive about waking him up after then and ended up co-sleeping with him on last night anyway (flies were getting too him and he was all upset poor love).

before kids yes we did, but on sites with showers.

as my parents used to share a caravan with us and presume we were all asleep - they would hardly be able to talk!

womblingfree · 15/08/2009 14:36

Have done before - it can be done quietly. We were with friends (in separate tents) and discovered one morning that we'd all been at it the night before and none of us heard either of the other couples!

That said, didn't bother on last 2 trips, but more because I've put so much weight on since DD I'd be worried about the bounce factor on an airbed

Must admit the clearing up afterwards doesn't appeal either....

purplesal · 15/08/2009 15:44

No, no, no!! We had to listen to a couple having sex 3 tents away last week. It really isn't pleasant.

I just couldn't if I thought someone else might hear - ewwww!

And muck on sleeping bags -bigger ewwww!

As I said originally - just no, no, no!

TeaOneSugar · 15/08/2009 16:07

It's even quite inhibiting in our tourer caravan with dd asleep at the other end.

"if the caravan's rocking don't come a knocking".

Definately only once a week and very quietly, with a quick dash to the showers afterwards.

Erm, it's how I got pregnant last year

It's the urge I usually have afterwards to nip to the loo that would be a problem I think- I don't fancy the idea of emerging in a teeshirt and wellies to people holding up little placards with a score out of ten

I never go camping.

surprisenumber3 · 15/08/2009 16:28

Tigga! Fancy seeing you here

4andnotout · 15/08/2009 16:38

We never get to 'get it on' whilst camping as we each have to share an airbed with two dd's, he has dd2 & dd3 and i have dd1 & dd4 in the opposite bedroom.

ROFL @ this thread!

BaronConker · 15/08/2009 18:10

Even on a keycamp holiday, not always possible - we went on one two years ago in Italy and DS1 was supposed to be in a kids' club, and DS2 was napping. So DH and I decided to have a small siesta - but 10 minutes later DS1 bounced into the tent going 'mummy! daddy! I did run away!! - why are you in bed?'

Starbear · 15/08/2009 18:20

Oh! Do you remember the days when you really didn't care. I would just blush & smile in the morning or afternoon to other campers. >>>>

I'd be worried about the silhouettes!

VanillaPumpkin · 15/08/2009 19:32

Not for me for all the reasons detailed below ...

Blottedcopybook · 15/08/2009 19:32

DC4 was conceived in a Eurocamp tent last year

YanknCock · 15/08/2009 19:38

Just reminded me of the last time I went camping with a boyfriend. In the middle of the act, realised a bloody raccoon was watching us through the screen, and then came out of the tent to discover his mates had raided our cooler!

So skip the sex, instead watch for thieving woodland animals.

fairydust · 15/08/2009 19:57

at the end of the day sex is the most natural thing in the world so why not do it in your tent chance are most other people are.

TheFallenMadonna · 15/08/2009 20:00

Quietly. No lights. Condoms.

Sheeta · 15/08/2009 20:21

Shove something in your mouth if you can't be quiet

and for the love of god... turn the lights off!

Trying4Baby1 · 15/08/2009 21:12

Nothing wrong with sex while camping. You just have to be quiet and leave some tissues or toilet paper beside you within reach for afterwards.

IOnlyReadtheDailyMailinCafes · 15/08/2009 21:22

pmsl at shag on a towel, can you remember the thread about shagging on a towel during your period. Someone had a towel they had set aside for that purpose.
