So last year we had a general chat thread for bragging/nattering/safe havens from when the trolls were out in the main boards! Thought we would start one again as it was lovely!

Hello Seashells

What have you been up to? Grin

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 17/04/2012 16:53
Grin

This and that, ya know!

Did you see I've convinced another mnetter to get a bell tent?! It will be more identifying than the MN scarf soon - bell tent, Iceytek, must be a mnetter Grin

nottersisnotmargo · 17/04/2012 16:54

I know, I noticed that. No wonder, the Iceytek website has crashed!

Have you got many trips planned this summer?

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 17/04/2012 16:59

Forgot to say:

Just been (farking cold)
May bank holiday (better not be cold)
July (hoping to be war,)
August in Cornwall (will be wet)

But leaving the car rack on in the hope of some spontaneous weekends!

I know, I never got round to taking my roofbox off last summer, and its nearly time to go again.....

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 17/04/2012 17:00

Warm, not war. Make love not war.

Especially if you Really Love your DH Wink

LostInWales · 17/04/2012 17:04

I have a brand new Icey Tek. Did I mention it is bright orange Grin. No bell tent though [letting the side down emoticon]

Trips this year;
May Bank Holiday
ABA Ferry to Bilbao then wend our way up to Brittany, meet family for a week, then get back to Wales somehow. I'm sooooo excited.

SeaShells where are you planning on having a war in July? Just so I can avoid the area. Grin

nottersisnotmargo · 17/04/2012 17:26

I haven't got a bell tent either

ReshapeWhileDamp · 17/04/2012 17:36

I have a brand new Icey-Tek too. Funny, that! She is RED and waiting to be christened. Given her socialist colouration and the fact that I decided on a whim that my bell-end theme was Mexican Fiesta perhaps I should change her gender and call her Diego.

Hmm. Diego the Icey-Tek. Has a certain ring to it...

Slubberdegullion · 17/04/2012 17:43

I saw that too Seashells. You and your hard sell on the old bell end tents. Grin

We have Whit booked (Lleyn) and Aug bank holiday booked (Lleyn) and we are good to go for w/e's now (probably Lleyn). if I haven't spotted a chuffing Chough for the Nature Top Trumps thread by the end of the season there will be trouble.

Slubberdegullion · 17/04/2012 17:46

I have just thrillingly discovered that my totally redundant but super thick and gorgeous king sized fitted mattress topper fits perfectly over 4 regular thermarests. This may be The Solution to keeping the damned things side by side and preventing the dc's from sliding between the cracks and sleeping on the floor.

Slubberdegullion · 17/04/2012 17:47

Bastard iPad put all those apostrophes in.

SalomeD · 17/04/2012 17:47

tecnología helada rojo just doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as Diego

ChippyMinton · 17/04/2012 17:47

Greetings all. I'm going to do proper shopping for kit camping this year Smile
May Bank Holiday with the scout troop - hardcore!
August in the South of France - softysofty!

Just bought a couple of, hopefully, comfy Gelert SIMS for DD and I. Also RED Grin Very patriotic in this year of Jubilympics, with a nod to Mexican Fiesta obviously.

ChippyMinton · 17/04/2012 17:50

Slubbers, I'm recycling the DC's old sleeping bags into SIM 'socks'. The SIMS slide inside the bags perfectly, add a bit of velcro to hold the bag shut et voila. Non-slip covers and an extra couple of insulation.

ChippyMinton · 17/04/2012 17:51

an extra couple of layers of insulation

Slubberdegullion · 17/04/2012 17:53

Tis a good idea Chippy. Don't you just love recycling, or is it upcycling now?Confused [the apprentice]

bronze · 17/04/2012 17:55

We have a nice tent yet can I convince my DH to go camping again no chance. Meh . can't wait to pass my driving test so I can take children on my own, if I'm brave enough

ReshapeWhileDamp · 17/04/2012 17:57

That sounds cosy, Slubber. I stick a kingsize fitted sheet over ours.

Grin at technologia helado rojo.

MUST find an inner for the bell tent. We're hoping it'll make things warmer - has anyone tried before and after and would like to verify that? I'm already missing the lovely open space, if we cut it in half. But the boys will sleep better in the evenings if they're enclosed, esp. if DH and I are driven inside by permafrost/drizzle.

LostInWales · 17/04/2012 17:58

Just in case something needs repairing or replacing replacing please I've just been been paid

ChippyMinton · 17/04/2012 17:58

YY to upcycling. I also just patched DH's thermarest pillow which he was going to chuck (his kitbag got trashed on an airport luggage conveyor). Tis good as new if rocking a 1970's vibe - orange with a blue paisley patch Grin

ChippyMinton · 17/04/2012 18:00

Obviously my theme is going to be Make Do and Mend!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 17/04/2012 18:03

Sounds fab, Chippy! If I could FIND the puncture on my cheapy Aldi SIM, I'd patch it, but I can't, and am not sure of the wisdom of sticking it in the bath to look for bubbles, because I don't think you really want water inside a SIM.

AngryFeet · 17/04/2012 18:08

I have two trips booked so far:-

May Bank Holiday - Wowo with group of friends
July - 5 days at Wellington Country Park

Praying for no rain after two washouts last year!
