So last year we had a general chat thread for bragging/nattering/safe havens from when the trolls were out in the main boards! Thought we would start one again as it was lovely!

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 01/05/2012 16:59

Migsy1 · 01/05/2012 17:14

I'm not risking it this weekend but I've already had 2 camping trips this year so I suppose I can't complain.

ChippyMinton · 01/05/2012 17:46

I am going on Friday. Praying for the rain to stop, or we will float away.

Flipflops packed for spider-infested shower block adventures.

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 01/05/2012 17:59

Where are you off to Chippy? Scotland is meant to be having the best of it

We will be in Mull of Kintyre. It's sooooo cold at the moment but st least relatively dry. We are planning a camp fire and taking games to play in the tent. Am going to look at the forecast now...

Aboutlastnight · 01/05/2012 19:33

Good news - tiny bit of rain but some sunshine - Sunday looks like a good day!

Fuctifano · 01/05/2012 19:33

Still weather watching and debating the electric blanket but if east coast better then
www.nydie.co.uk/ it's lovely.
Or if west is best then - www.headsofayr.com/
Researching the (remote) possibility of France for the summer and happened upon this rather fetching if badly named option

I'll stick with my Outwell and leave my .... Wink

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 01/05/2012 19:40

Which weather websites do you use, Aboutlastnight?

OP posts:
Migsy1 · 01/05/2012 19:55

I assume they all come from the metoffice one.

Aboutlastnight · 01/05/2012 19:58

One called myweather2.com though DP has just poured cold water on my optimism Hmm

But hell that little sun pic is good enough for me.

Blu · 01/05/2012 20:11

Anyone camping in Norfolk this Bank Hol w/e?

MrsMc82 · 01/05/2012 20:56

ooo ooo ooo we're going on hols in a Tithome [http://www.camping-plage.net/tithome-caravane-bungalow-location-mobile-home.html?PHPSESSID=5c85beb10fff7115f2ca489a4ab2f483 here] - never been in one before - but very excited! when chatting about hols friends have asked me if we're staying in a caravan or tent or whatever and I've delighted in saying 'nope we're staying in tithome....don't think I quite translates so well do you' [titters immaturely]

Migsy1 · 02/05/2012 13:17

I like the look of that! Sort of semi / caravan tent. Having your own toilet can make all the difference :)

ChippyMinton · 02/05/2012 16:45

Quenelle · 02/05/2012 17:00

Aha ha ha ha! Grin (You didn't say the rest of us couldn't laugh.)

There's a campsite in Watford???

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 02/05/2012 17:07

ChippyMinton · 02/05/2012 17:33
Grin I know, bonkers! It's actually a Scout campsite. Very handy for the M25 and 30 minutes from warm dry home.
Fuctifano · 02/05/2012 17:52

Haven't booked for the wknd yet. But got this sorted for end of July
www.campingfouche.com/index.php?Itemid=28
Tres excitemont! If anyone knows the area any hints, tips or suggestions gratefully received.

muchostinky · 02/05/2012 23:33

We have not booked 2 nights at Hoar Park in the middle of July, so that's still only 2 full weeks and 1 weekend booked this year - need to get some more camping in I think!

Need to find somewhere close that just DS and I can go as DP works a Saturday nights usually, but I am sure DS would just be bored and moan if it was only me there. Dilemma......

issyocean · 09/05/2012 20:15

H and I have been having moan about what campsites charge for extras
Anyone else remember when you just paid for your pitch?

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 09/05/2012 20:32

It is getting so popular - hard to book and pitch prices have gone up! I wis the weathe would sort itself out and we can get camping again :) I'm hoping to go before the school holidays.

OP posts:
issyocean · 09/05/2012 20:39

Last summer (August) we didn't book anything just packed up the car and headed south west.Had a fantastic couple of weeks in North Devon.

It was exciting heading off with no plans Smile

loubielou31 · 09/05/2012 20:50

I went camping at the weekend Grin well in the Camper, but some of our friends and their children didn't even have tents! Just sleeping bags and some kind of rain shelter. We had a proper camp fire and it was brilliant.
I think I need to learn some more cooking skills for a real fire and might even ask for a dutch oven for my birthday.

issyocean · 09/05/2012 20:54

Bloody hell that's brave it was really cold on Saturday night. We had an amazing time over the weekend camping in Cornwall and H stopped moaning about not having EHU the second the camp fire was lit Grin
