So last year we had a general chat thread for bragging/nattering/safe havens from when the trolls were out in the main boards! Thought we would start one again as it was lovely!

Hi Lucycat. Have I seen you over on ukcampsite?

Lucycat · 19/04/2012 20:22

oh yes I play there too - but at this time of year I return to my spirtual home of the Camping forum on MN Grin

Lovecat · 19/04/2012 20:40

I'm back and laden down - Quenelle, they had quite a few blankets in our branch but they weren't reduced. £6.99 if you were interested.

I also bought a patchwork quilt, ostensibly for DD's bedroom (that we've just decorated and got new furniture for, so needs new bedding) but actually got a large one so that we can 'borrow' it to lay over the double sleeping bag when we're away... given that most of 'her' stuff is used when we go away (gl)camping (cushions, rug, bunting, lamps), I'm a bad, bad mother, aren't I?Blush

MrsMellowDrummer · 19/04/2012 23:24

We've just got back from Wowo... Was fab fab fabby! (but cold!)

For those who were asking, Wellington is great. We live close by too. Camping areas nicely spaced out... showers and loos are fine... Best bit is having the park to yourself after dark. And take bikes if you can manage it!

Metbird · 20/04/2012 00:27

{runs in panicked, looks around, hopes no one has noticed late arrival}

Gosh early start...I haven't even though about camping yet! Still going to bed with hot water bottle inside a centrally heated house. Husband is in said bed with hat on as we speak. (Its cold...not kinky!)

Nevermind...{sets up camping chair and opens a bottle}

NonnyMuss · 20/04/2012 05:05

Anybody got or used one of these?

Reviews seem good but is it good enough to make a 5m bell tent nice and toasty?

Fanq :o

Migsy1 · 20/04/2012 08:11

Somebody recommended one of those heaters to me but they were out of stock. I went to B&M stores and got an electric heater for £5 as I have EHU. It made the bell tent warmer but my friend got a fan heater and she said it made her 5m bell tent really toasty.

mogs0 · 20/04/2012 09:05

I have no experience of using the gas heaters but I'd be worried about it setting something on fire.

My friend uses a little fan heater and it makes a huge difference in her tent.

When we stayed in a wooden pod on Monday night, they had bambino oil-filled heaters. The pod was really warm but I'm not sure whether it'd be as effective in a tent. I'm going to buy one as they seem like the safest option for us.

Quenelle · 20/04/2012 09:27

Thanks Lovecat. I'll have a look in our branch tomorrow and also stock up on Steinhauser beer. The patchworth quilt sounds nice, perfect for glamping stylee tents.

We have a grey army surplus blanket that we bought to save ourselves from freezing at a festival in the mid-90s. It pretty much sums up our style at the moment.

Quenelle · 20/04/2012 09:35

Lucycat I thought I recognised you. I've seen you on a few campsite threads on ukcampsite this week.

muchostinky · 20/04/2012 10:28

My iceytek is arriving this morning - am very excited! Also bought a camping cupboard thing from Argos yesterday as well as my purchases from Aldi!

Ohhh and also a Gelert adventure Sim for me (forgot about that!) Blush

Enough camping purchases for a wee while I think!

loubielou31 · 20/04/2012 10:44

We have a camper (am I allowed to stay I'll provide plenty of Wine) so often have EHU and use a fan heater in the awning and all night if I'm cold and it makes a huge difference.
I'm feeling the need to Glamp up our (modern looking) van and awning. DH will think I've gone loopy if I start stringing up fairy lights and scattering rugs and cushions about the place.
Wine anyone? It might be a bit early so I also do an excellent Brew and homemade Biscuits. {looks around hopefully}

muchostinky · 20/04/2012 11:05

Oh a cuppa would be good Lou, I am studying and simultaneous equations are making the morning drag a wee bit.
A break is called for!

hillbilly · 20/04/2012 11:06

loubielou - even for me it's a little early for Wine but a cuppa would be nice Smile

hillbilly · 20/04/2012 11:10

I have serious Iceytek envy but just bought a cool box last year so can't justify buying another.......not this year at least Wink

muchostinky · 20/04/2012 12:58

Ahhh hillbilly I bought one last year too - only a £15 jobby from Asda though so, this is very justified!

OH has just seen it though and his first words were 'didn't think it would be that big!' This is after us discussing the size and him getting the tape measure out!

Ah well, might have to just squish DS up a bit!

Quenelle · 20/04/2012 13:02

Loubielou - I saw a picture of a trailer tent on a campsite website yesterday and had to copy it. It's on my profile. Why not use this as design inspiration? Wink

loubielou31 · 20/04/2012 13:04

I'm back, (nursery pickup) with Brew for all.
eapecially for mucho. It's a long time since I did simultaneous equations so I'm afraid I can't help you other than with distractions and sustenance.
Maths was main subject when I did my B.Ed. DH thought that meant primary school maths like times tables and long division Grin.
What are you studying for?

loubielou31 · 20/04/2012 13:08

I can't see your picture Quenelle can you link to the website?
Brew? I'm just going avoid housework for a bit longer get another for myself.

Quenelle · 20/04/2012 13:23

Ooh yes please. Very strong, not too much milk. And in a proper mug please Smile.

Does this work?

Actually I'm starting to rather like it now.

hillbilly · 20/04/2012 13:27

Unfortunately Mucho I left it to DH to buy the cool box so of course he went for the biggest and best available - obviously there were no Iceytek in the shop or he would have gone for it!

Migsy1 · 20/04/2012 13:29

Quenelle Very lovely :)

loubielou31 · 20/04/2012 13:35

Thanks, Quenelle that's just what I had in mind Grin.
The Brew is ALWAYS made in a teapot. Even in the camper!!! I am turning into my mother.

Quenelle · 20/04/2012 13:51

It's fabulous isn't it? That was from a Boulogne camping website. I'm going to turn into my mother and suffer from serious tent envy when we're in France.

My mum used to love snooping round the Dutch tents to see what the latest in camping chic was. We ended up with a camping fruit bowl and a camping vase for flowers.

loubielou31 · 20/04/2012 13:57

Grin at camping vase, she didn't put silk flowers in it did she. camping flowers? I'm very Envy at the fact you're going to France. Because we're tied to the school holidays this year the ferry prices were just ££££s. I've just booked two weeks in Cornwall for us all but am very concerned that Cornwall in August is just going to be crowded. Especially if everyone else takes four children!
