The Glass of Wine, The Campfire and The Awfully Big Adventure

We've all blethered on pleasantly on Seashells' lovely previous thread and, with the school holidays approaching, lots of us are about to start our summer adventures( not all of which are in tents....!) This thread is for us all to check back in and generally keep in touch. So we've packed up our Icey-Teks and our Tarps and our Death Socks, gently doused the burning embers of our planning campfire and rinsed out the wine glasses.

We're ready for our Awfully Big Adventure.

Come and talk about yours here (even if you're staying put!)

The last few posts are WAY over my head! Never watched The Fast Show which probably explains it more than the wine!

lovecat · 15/08/2011 22:44

well that's no guaranteeee! :o

ReshapeWhileDamp · 15/08/2011 22:45

Love the new thread title! Grin

Yellow, I also have not made bread in aeons. (Well, about a year. Feels longer.) I am in awe of your Goddess-ry. At the moment, I feel pretty darn smug if I can manage to empty and refill the dishwasher, do a couple loads in the washing machine, and feed both boys twice, alongside all the nappy-changing/poo-swabbing/cleaning up dinner debris. All those friends of mine who said that two wasn't twice as hard - they LIED, dammit! Grin

I did actually manage to snatch a little bit of time this afternoon to play with my new Canvas Roulette tarp. Blimey, they're deceptively tricky things, aren't they? I now think we can't take it to the festy - it's huge and will make the bell tent footprint massive.

YellowDinosaur · 15/08/2011 23:02

Reshape they didn't lie. 2 is not TWICE as hard. Its about 8 times as hard!

YellowDinosaur · 15/08/2011 23:05

Actually its only that bad when they're liittle. Things are (often) a lot easier now as they can wipe their own bums, communicate what they want, walk a reasonable distance and amuse each other! Then the fighting starts over something totally unpredictable and inconsequential... They are lovely though and really great mates. And when I have a day with them like today I absolutely love it and want to sack in my job and bake bread and play with my boys!

Then, on the OTHER 364 days a year I NEED to go to work for a break!

brambleschooks · 15/08/2011 23:12

Is canvas roulette the camping version of chat roulette? I think we should be told. The possibilities are mind boggling.

notwavingjustironing · 15/08/2011 23:18

Boys that can amuse themselves and are gorgeous (mine) are hard work that should not be underestimated lovely Grin

Had to get out of bed and away from the bf-ing child. Quite honestly I wonder how she doesn't burst sometimes. The new nursery left me somewhat cold, but then I wasn't feeling very positive about the whole thing anyway so it was hardly going to blow my mind. We might have found a way around DD staying at the new nursery but I will need to throw myself at the headmaster when school starts again in September. I will probably be tapping slubber for cake tips. So we are hopeful. Onwards and upwards.

Most impressed by the new thread title [grain]

Thought there was a nice smell around the thread - Shock at YD's mammoth cooking session. I miss cooking Sad its all mass catering and Warming Things Up here since DD2. Will I ever cook again? Blue cheese & nettle sourdough bruschetta sounds very lush!

How are the chooks brambles? Any patter of tiny feet? [grain] at the pimping of slubber's bin. Where we lived before, we used to buy cheap garden gnomes & other ornaments & then secrete them in next doors front garden in the very dead of night when drunk. It used to drive my friend batty.

Funtime - hope all the vomming has passed. Lovecat - I once got into a ruck on a crochet thread - I kid you not. Sometimes this place is full of nutters.

shoutymamma - I'm oop north so I'm a bit remiss in my knowledge of Bristol-age camping I'm afraid. I can offer this at Slimbridge, but no swimming unless you count either the wetlands or the canal.

Bloody hell I can hear the child stirring again on the monitor Hmm best go & get the (.)(.) 's out...

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 16/08/2011 06:38

Jetli-solidarity from a fellow bfer who seems to be in high demand too! I hope you managed some sleep :) how are are your LO?

Bramble Shock no no noooooo canvas roulette is much more tenty and wholesome than chat roulette! Basically obelink in the nl are not meant to sell to the uk but a couple of mnetters have had luck buying on the Dutch site, having stuck their card details on then sitting and waiting anxiously for a delivery to show up! Dh won't entertain me trying to play yet :(

Dc had their first proper day at the cm. Yesterday-she took them to the farm and when she rang to arrange pick up I could hear Ds singing old Macdonald had a farm very loudly in the style of a pub singer so relieved they both seemed to have loved it, Ds is asleep beyond 6am for the first time in a loooooooooong time (trust dd to still be up 5.30!) oh well, another working day today!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 16/08/2011 06:41

Oh, and seriously, a cadac in the thread title?! I get the evilness but seriously Grin [grain]

brambleschooks · 16/08/2011 10:44

Message for slubber: Your bins are ready for the binmen. They can see them now. I'm not sure how on earth they managed it before.

lovecat · 16/08/2011 11:11

:o Brambles

Reshape - I'm fretting now you've said that about your tarp - I bought Chimchar's spare one off her (she managed to get 2 in tent roulette) and haven't had a chance to play with it yet, I was going to take it away with us this weekend and use it as a canopy for cooking/eating etc., seeing as how Bedgebury doesn't have set pitches/pitch sizes.

Which I'm fretting about enough already - I've only ever been places (apart from festivals) where the pitches are marked - what if I can't find anywhere to pitch? What if someone else rolls up and pitches 5cm away from our doorway like they did at Latitude? What if there's no room to park the car next to the tent and I have to [waah!] carry stuff ?

If it's mahoosive, that's another worry... and there's me telling DH 'camping is SO relaxing'.... Confused

notwavingjustironing · 16/08/2011 11:51

Morning!

Shall I set up the new thread now ? We've only got a few more posts before it gets full?

And is everyone happy with the Tealights and Bunting title ?

OP posts:
SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 16/08/2011 12:14

Of course notwaving! We need it, my iPhone is grinding to a halt :)

brambleschooks · 16/08/2011 12:49

Go ahead. Check my photos too whilst you're at it. I need to know I've got it right, wouldn't want slubber to be cross or nuffink and end up in detention.

notwavingjustironing · 16/08/2011 12:53

Detention Bramble?

Nah, I don't think so.....

OP posts:
notwavingjustironing · 16/08/2011 12:59

Right then everyone, this campsite is getting full, so we've struck camp and re-pitched

here

This link won't work will it?

Off to Manor Farm, Charmouth tomorrow for a long weekend. Only booked today. Never been there before, but they have a pool and a bar. Let's see.
