The Glass of Wine, The Campfire and The Awfully Big Adventure

We've all blethered on pleasantly on Seashells' lovely previous thread and, with the school holidays approaching, lots of us are about to start our summer adventures( not all of which are in tents....!) This thread is for us all to check back in and generally keep in touch. So we've packed up our Icey-Teks and our Tarps and our Death Socks, gently doused the burning embers of our planning campfire and rinsed out the wine glasses.

We're ready for our Awfully Big Adventure.

Come and talk about yours here (even if you're staying put!)

Yeah yellow

Shark tent? Tell me about shark tents please...

MisSalLaneous · 15/08/2011 20:52

I don't even like gin that much, but I love this bottle and am itching to buy it. Am pretty sure have an almost full bottle gin in the cupboard though, so will get over it.

On a similar note, if any of you is ever strolling around near St Paul's (as you do, of course), go into the Whisky Shop there. I hate the stuff, but absolutely loved the place (went to pick a gift for dh), pretending as if I cared what the guy showing me different options was on about. Pretty, proper bottles.

muchostinky · 15/08/2011 20:55

Hark at you lot with your tinned G&T's! The bottles of cider are my best friend, although a box of White Zinfandel, Smirnoff Ice and the little cans of Smirnoff and Apple could also make me happy! Classy bird I am. [grain] Grin

YellowDinosaur · 15/08/2011 20:56

how do you figure that MisSal?

Funtime I was going to give you a massive hug for linking to the cans of G&T but your link jkust sent me to a load of mahoosive bottles! Not necessarily a problem but not a can!

YellowDinosaur · 15/08/2011 20:58

MisSal your last link just went to loads of bottles of gin too (the same as funtimes!)

MisSalLaneous · 15/08/2011 20:59

The Rain Gods told me, you see. We're on great speaking terms now.

MisSalLaneous · 15/08/2011 21:01

Ah no. Sainsburys IT staff probably drank all the cans themselves! It was the Blackwoods Vintage Dry on pg 2 - I like the bottle. :)

MisSalLaneous · 15/08/2011 21:03

Btw Yellow, how did the gate-talk go? (other thread - wasn't sure whether to ask there or here)

Shoutymomma · 15/08/2011 21:04

If the weather forecast holds up, I'm gonna skip off with girlies and tent this weekend. Don't like 'club' style sites but must be able to swim. Have a few sites on my list but would welcome additional suggestions, pref less than 2 hours from Bristol. Ta muchly.

notwavingjustironing · 15/08/2011 21:06

Shark tents are blue and have teeth bendy poles. Obv.

I'm currently drinking wine. It's the shock of Yellow making bread. On A Monday !!!

Where is everyone else tonight? Is Losty doing a twelve hour shift ? They couldn't manage without her for long could they ?

And on a more general note, can you believe we have banged on for nearly 2000 posts? All because everyone else in MN are barking challenging [grain]

Ooh, I saw the premixed smirnoff and apple - was tempted but decided I needed familiar alcohol when under canvas - it's the Dr Pepper thing, in that I want to try it but am worried I'll hate it and then it'll be a waste - quite why I am concerned about wasting 50p on a can of pop/£2.50 on a can of vodka and apple (2 things I actually like) when I've just dropped squillions on bunting, candle holders and cushions I'm not sure [grain]

lovecat · 15/08/2011 21:11

Yes, I got involved in a ruck on Chat (Chat!!) quite by accident today - some people are mighty touchy over there...

YellowDinosaur · 15/08/2011 21:15

Liking the sound of shark tents too Grin

And I'm joining you on the wine notwaving - after a day of being a 50s perfect wife you can't see the state of my kitchen I'm entitled to let it slip now I do believe!

MisSal haven't spoken to neighbours yet. Been out in the garden a lot today off and on and looking out for them but don't think they're in - car not there either. I'll keep you posted!

We need a new thread! This one will run out in about 30 posts. Any suggstions for a name?

lovecat · 15/08/2011 21:15

shoutymomma, I would recommend Trebellan but it's 3 hours away. Too far? Pool, fantastic pub across the road, near loads of beaches, but not club housey.

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 15/08/2011 21:21

evening, just popping in to spill red wine over you all and be envious of people's outdoor loveliness...i AM WORKING :(

brambleschooks · 15/08/2011 21:22

Yd, you are a Dom goddess. I have commenced a sourdough starter, which at the moment looks like the flour glue mum used to make for me to do papier mâché with. I have real yeast from the baker and am planning wholemeal bread tomorrow.

G and t in tins are my camping staple. Even when g and t ing at home I like my t from a tin so that it is fizz fresh every time.

So... I'm thinking nettle peluche, bunting and fairy light embellishment, topped with tea lights in ramekins as a mn version of tie a yellow ribbon. Do you think if I did some music via ehu it would be appreciated?

brambleschooks · 15/08/2011 21:23

Pitching up the creek with a paddle?

notwavingjustironing · 15/08/2011 21:26

Yes she will really appreciate that. You are a true friend.

YellowDinosaur · 15/08/2011 21:28

pmsl at brambles plans for slubber! Grin Actually would have spat my wine into the laptop if it wasn't having a cheeky rest on the arm of the sofa!

YellowDinosaur · 15/08/2011 21:31

And on the same vein how about this for a new thread

Around the Cadac with bunting, teaight chandeliers and fairylights on the EHU

notwavingjustironing · 15/08/2011 21:39

With an owl

OP posts:
lovecat · 15/08/2011 21:43
