The Glass of Wine, The Campfire and The Awfully Big Adventure

We've all blethered on pleasantly on Seashells' lovely previous thread and, with the school holidays approaching, lots of us are about to start our summer adventures( not all of which are in tents....!) This thread is for us all to check back in and generally keep in touch. So we've packed up our Icey-Teks and our Tarps and our Death Socks, gently doused the burning embers of our planning campfire and rinsed out the wine glasses.

We're ready for our Awfully Big Adventure.

Come and talk about yours here (even if you're staying put!)

Have fun notwaving! Keep posting. Feel free to lie and tell us how utterly awful it is. Rain and winds with the occasional hail will help us poor souls here in the cold and wet! (Obviously really hope you're having a fantastic time!)

NettleTea · 22/07/2011 22:05

Our big adventure will be providing camping for everyone else. Id quite like to take one of the dutch pyramids off for a little adventure when its all finished though.....

Now feel really guilty on other thread

Can't wait to hear of all your tales :) I hope you get lovely weather-it's been so changeable here it would be great to have a run of some sunshine and hot weather!

(and stop feeling guilty, I started that one after this one and we can easily feel both!!)

MisSalLaneous · 22/07/2011 22:11

nonono notwaving, don't be silly, I think SeaShells just didn't see this one before she started that one. We're all blabbering so much, both will up up in a wink anyway!

MisSalLaneous · 22/07/2011 22:11

Whoops sorry, x-post.

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 22/07/2011 22:20

Phew, we will all hang here...I'd got distracted by multiple visitors so didn't mean to duplicate
Wine all round Grin

I've just got back from doing Front of House for my drama group and realised that I hadn't changed out of the hideous practical walking sandals I bought a few days back (I'd been wearing them around the house today to make sure they were comfy). Well, they're so comfy I forgot I was wearing them. They have a fetching patternn of pink and white daisies on the padded velcro straps, which went beautifully with my lbd/leggings combo for FoH...Blush

Well, as anticipated, DH obv. considers having bought the roofbox his contribution to the whole packing business, so nowt has been achieved today on that front. I now have tomorrow morning before the wedding to get everything sorted. And while I've been out what was a scratch on DD's foot looks like it's got infected (red and swollen all around the original scratch, it went down with piriton but is back up again now) so if it's no better tomorrow morning I fear a trip to A&E first thing will be in order.

Waaaah!

notwavingjustironing · 23/07/2011 10:43

Yay I'm in that there Forrin Mallorca! It's sunny but a bit cloudy. Am hoping for the flag-cracking sun I signed up for.... Have paid my £2 to vodaphone for my 1mb of 3G so will be back to blether later.

Waves to Sal and Seashells and necks some sangria (with gin in for added authenticity) Grin

Ooh and Lovecat roof boxes are the business I'm not entirely sure how I ever managed without one.

When does the production perform?

You're enjoying it so much you can't help repeating! Wink

Have some sangria for me too, could do with some now. Well, can do with some any time of any day of any month. Should move to Spain, really!

glitterkitty · 23/07/2011 17:50

Hello who wanted 50s cake recipe? I have stupendous boiled fruit cake from wartime rationing that old poeple love?

We went to pick-your-own farm today, spotted scary random tent in woods by farm fence, it looked like horror film tent, made of sheet of tarp and oil drums around peremiter...why?! I am now eating my way through a carrier bag of peas... Grin

We are off again next weekend, probably nice site in Bexhill as fairly close to London, and to Drusillas!

I am confused by the two threads, which one is active? Should the other say 'go here'?

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 23/07/2011 18:05

Glitterkitty-I cocked up. My last post on that thread is a link to here.

Ive got lots of visitors but still here! I feel like a maid sometimes but at least the current lot are chilled and super helpful :)

MisSalLaneous · 23/07/2011 19:58

Always weird with visitors - on the one hand, lovely to have them over, but can be exhausting at times, whilst everyone around you have a great time! Current ones sound nice though. A friend of mine was ill, so family came over to "help" her - she ended up doing everything anyway, except that it was for another family too! Grr.

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 23/07/2011 20:24

Lol sal, that would describe the previous lot!

Funtimewincies · 23/07/2011 20:47

Sorry, sorry Blush. I took a wrong turn at the icey-tek of gin hic!

I've lost track a bit, who wanted the N. Wales info?

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 23/07/2011 21:58

Sit yourself down, do you need coffee or more gin to recover?!!

I can't remember re n wales sorry!!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 23/07/2011 22:57

glitterkitty, a PYO farm that sells PYO peas! Envy I'd be very happy with that in my neighbourhood. Would have to fight DS1 for the peas, though.

We went to a local archaeological dig open day today (supporting my old department!) and I had a gawk at the students' campsite... I counted no less than 6 bell tents, and at least 2 old-fashioned-style canvas ridgepole tents too. I was impressed. I used to camp at digs in horrible, bargain-basement things from Millets that cost me £9.75, and they were nearly enough to put me off camping for good.

scaryt · 23/07/2011 23:03

Me! funtime I wanted to know about N Wales.

scaryt · 23/07/2011 23:04

I keep going back to the Bank Holiday thread, sooooo want to come but a four hour drive would really be pushing it!

MisSalLaneous · 23/07/2011 23:24

Ah come, scary!! Bank holiday, so you can stay a day longer. Just think, break down the 4hr drive - drive 2, stop for leisurely coffee and cake, another 2. Easy peasy. Ooh, see my idiotic clever link to your PYO-ing? Hey?? How can you miss camping with such a genius? Wink

MisSalLaneous · 23/07/2011 23:26

Reshape, just wanted to say you'd be in your element there, but then remembered you said you have prior commitments. It's a shame ditch them.

SeaShellsMyDogSmells · 24/07/2011 04:32

We are goingto do 3 hrs to the camp

Those lucky enough to be local can have Brew and Wine at the ready for when the intrepid explorers stagger onto the farm :) it will be fine :)
