The Glass of Wine, The Campfire and The Awfully Big Adventure

We've all blethered on pleasantly on Seashells' lovely previous thread and, with the school holidays approaching, lots of us are about to start our summer adventures( not all of which are in tents....!) This thread is for us all to check back in and generally keep in touch. So we've packed up our Icey-Teks and our Tarps and our Death Socks, gently doused the burning embers of our planning campfire and rinsed out the wine glasses.

We're ready for our Awfully Big Adventure.

Come and talk about yours here (even if you're staying put!)

I have an axe. AND marshmallows {preen}

how psychopathic does that sentence make me sound....?

overmydeadbody · 11/08/2011 20:10

Axes, marshmallows, filling in poo holes, it's all a bit much now I'm on the wine...

YellowDinosaur · 11/08/2011 20:14

I like the marshmallows. Not so bothered about the poo holes but could get excited about axes at a push...

Meant to say earlier hope your first day back went well Seashells! Hope you have enjoyed work and that you now have a big glass of wine in your hand Smile

MisSalLaneous · 11/08/2011 20:16

Filthy, you're my kind of woman!

Hmm, realises that makes it sounds a little, uhm, wrong.

What axe do you have?

OMDB, tell me about axes. I love axe talk. Anything in mind yet or just drooling still? I really, really want one of these: Gransfors. They're so beautiful. Really should just go ahead and order, as I've been hankering after it for months now. Or weeks. Can't remember. Put in some serious wanting action though, so good enough, I think.

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 11/08/2011 20:20

sal er, dunno what axe it is. it's yellow and sharp and choppy.
We call it Mr Choppy. And sometimes I have to hide it from dh when he is feeling that way out (usually after a wekend trip to the supermarket) Grin

lostinwales · 11/08/2011 20:22

Wine, mmm don't mind if I do, I've given my liver a little holiday since France now I think, cheers Wine

After the 'turkish' loo's on holiday I know for sure that I need a nice stable loo seat, wandering off with a trowel is not for me. I like the posh home made one with sawdust and handwash though, I think that's similar to the one we will have in my friends field by the beach, although possibly with wooden walls. I hadn't thought properly about that before, still got to be better than the unisex ones on holiday. (did I mention the men's urinals were just there no doors or anything, I have had to relax considerably in the last month)

Sorry Sal, hope SeaShells day has been good. I hope by now she has had a huge cuddle and is enjoying a well earned drink.

Now where do we sign up for an axe, I might have to find that link again, axes are great.

Funtimewincies · 11/08/2011 20:23

I hope that you've brought enough axes and marshmallows for everyone F1

Grin at 'Mr Choppy'.

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 11/08/2011 20:23

at the last festival I went to, the men had straw bales to pee on, which the boys thought was awesome.

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 11/08/2011 20:25

funtime you can take my marshmallows. Even the pink ones. Which contain beetroot extract and therefore constitute one of your five-a-day.
But you'll never come between me and Mr Choppy.

F1lthym1ndedvixen · 11/08/2011 20:29

'moff to do real life wine drinking. and pie-eating. you can share the marshmallows if yellow has left any.

Funtimewincies · 11/08/2011 20:30

Liking your thinking F1 Grin. Gin is also one (juniper berries and herbal shit) so add a slice of lemon and you're covered!

YellowDinosaur · 11/08/2011 20:39

Well wine clearly is too! Grapes innit? So wine, gin and marshmallows and we're already up too 3 of the 5 a day!

YellowDinosaur · 11/08/2011 20:40

Speaking of which....

Can I tempt anyone?

Kingsroadie · 11/08/2011 20:44

Yellow - Cider is full of apples so that can count too. Am sure 5 a day could be achieved purely through booze...

MisSalLaneous · 11/08/2011 20:46

I give you... chocolate. We're practically dead without it.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 11/08/2011 21:04

Evening all!!

You lot are chatty tonight, wine flowing as it's nearly the weekend ladies Wink

I'm soon off to bed exhausted, but I've survived my first day. It was just training so my head is whizzing. Just back from late nightnshopping for work shoes and clothes-it feels like going back to school! Good news is that he has increased my hours slightly so I will now be earning from the start hurrah! ( Christ childcare is expensive!)

Sal- excellent news on the axe- if you look on canopy and stars there is a site that has axe throwing lessons, ohnyes, that company have everything! They also have a house built by ben law (than amazing grand designs woodland house) but pleeeeeeeease don't all book it up until I can as a treat next year Grin

Hi Filthy!

OverMyDeadBody--hello! Do I know you by another name?!! You trip sounds fun :)

X posts with loads of you I should think after that essay but to you all :)

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 11/08/2011 21:05

Wow, didn't post with any of you! That wine must have finally floored you Grin

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 11/08/2011 21:09

I can't find it!!! But look, how cool is this www.canopyandstars.co.uk/find-a-place/crafty-camping/poppet

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 11/08/2011 21:11

So, seeing as I'm talking to myself I'm going to send a flare up for Slubber and see if she responds from the land of Forrin

Whooooooooooooooooooosh * * . . *

lostinwales · 11/08/2011 21:12

I had salad and quiche and chocolate for lunch and potato salad, salad and wine for tea AND an apple today. Wow I am so healthy! (do you think that cancels out the mayonnaise on, well, everything else really?)

Hello SeaShells, glad you made it through the first day

lostinwales · 11/08/2011 21:14

Just us is it SeaShells, I LOVE that place you have linked to.

I think we might need to hire a helicopter for the weekend and go and find slubber, she's not posted for ages, even though I taunted her with pictures of my bunting and everything.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 11/08/2011 21:23

Ay be the elves have taken her?

You have eaten so much better than me -I fed my family junk tonight to celebrate my first day back!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 11/08/2011 21:26

That whole website is amazing. Beautiful places. This years meet up is at one place (glotten... Castle) but I can't make it, they were also really nice on the FDF thread. Their mother company Sawneys is also droolsome

MisSalLaneous · 11/08/2011 21:37

Love that Crafty place, SeaShells. Perfect with the trees and everything. This is what I love most about camping - getting away from it all. Well, 50 metres or so, but still. Waking up here must be lovely. Really glad to hear your first day went well!

I had roast pork, yorkshire pudding, cabbage and brocoli with lots of gravy and apple sauce for lunch. Subsidised work canteens does an ever increasing bum no favours, let me tell you.
