As suggested in AIBU I've started a thread here. Anyone who wants to join for support that would be great! Going to weigh myself tomorrow morning. I've planned my food for tomorrow. Aiming for 1600 calories a day, 10000 steps as a minimum. 3 gym workouts a week.

Chocolate cake dilemma! The kids really want to make a chocolate cake over summer holidays. I tried to keep them busy in case they forgot but they are again reminding me today. I know if I make it I'm not going to be able to resist have a daily slice or two which will probably take up my daily calories but I also dont want to deprive them or make them think food is an issue at all!

Bringonsummer19 · 12/08/2022 14:16

Oh that is difficult @pancakes222 i also reflect I’m doubtful I could help myself. Can you make a small number of cup cakes instead? I find with a large cake you can’t help yourself but take a bit here or there. You wouldn’t do that with cup cakes

Fuzzyduckduckyfuzz · 12/08/2022 14:19

Keep in your mind when you want some what is more important - your weight loss or 5 seconds of cake joy. Either that or budget for a certain size slice daily (that's what I would do 🤣)

I work in a tearoom on a weekend where I make all these cakes and traybakes and it is haaaaaard

Theres a trick floating round the internet where people use a boxed cake mix and diet soda instead of eggs and oil to make a low cal cake for dieting. Never tried it (not a sweet fan, savoury is my downfall) and not sure how low cal it comes out, but may be worth a look.

Do you which soda they suggest to use?

Bringonsummer19 · 13/08/2022 19:14

Well luckily it is soooo hot and I am sooo uncomfortable that I have been pretty good for sat!!!

Pollyforever · 13/08/2022 19:41

Thats great @Bringonsummer19
Yesterday was a write off for me! Got stuck in traffic on the way back from hol so ended up mot home in time for lunch as we'd planned so got lunch at a service station and then by tea time I was so hot and stressed my husband said he'd sort it and went out for a mcdonalds for us all!

Today has been much better! 11000 steps, 3.5 litres of water, 1400 calories and 132g protein! I've done high protein low carbon today and feel so much better for it. I've got 200 calories left in my allowance but not feeling hungry at all.

Oh and I went to the gym today too.
If every day was like today I wouldn't have a weight problem!!

Bringonsummer19 · 13/08/2022 21:26

Well done @Pollyforever for the gym effort. That is amazing. Service stations are the worst places to navigate with regards to healthy eating.

I have to have a good day tomorrow as I have my first weigh in tomorrow..I might sort through my wardrobe and identify some clothes I want to fit into for motivation.

Bringonsummer19 · 13/08/2022 21:27

Should say first weigh in on Monday!

Pollyforever · 14/08/2022 08:47

That should be a good motivator!

I'm joining you all today, done my crying this morning after seeing my weight. Now it's time to do something about it.
Weighed in at 13stone 7 today and 5"6 height, so a lot to lose.

ishouldntsaybut · 14/08/2022 12:24

I'd love to join if that's ok! I yo-yo with one stone. Which would be fine if it wasn't one of 4 I want to lose! An all inclusive week away in October so would be great to get half way by then.

Bringonsummer19 · 14/08/2022 13:39

Welcome @crazyplanet and @ishouldntsaybut

weighing in for the first time is such an important first step so tears are to be expected xxx

crazyplanet · 14/08/2022 13:46

Thanks @Bringonsummer19
Did a dance workout and managed to close my Apple rings, now just got to keep it up and stick with the calories (hardest part for me).

TimWasMeanToMe · 14/08/2022 14:32

Hello. Can I join you please?
I am 5’7” and weigh 14 stone 5. so have about 4 stone to lose, but I’d be happy with 3.

I’m on day 4 of my diet today. Trying to stick to about 1500 a day for the time being. I’m counting calories on the calorie counter app. I was going to join up to a expensive weight loss programme, but in the end decided to spend money on some new clothes instead. I’ve been walking round in clothes that neither fit or suit me for too long now, and it adds to my self loathing, which in turn makes me binge eat/drink. I’m hoping that treating myself now and building my self esteem will spur me on more than waiting till I get to a certain weight before I reward myself.

I’m going away for the next two weekends and know it’s going to impossible to stay on track, but I’m going to make the best choices I can and not treat it as an excuse to overeat.

I’m not enjoying this heat and I’m not moving much, but at least I’m drinking lots water and finding it easier to cut down portion sizes!

crazyplanet · 14/08/2022 15:04

Good luck @TimWasMeanToMe
I know what you mean about this heat, I feel so uncomfortable in my clothes. But we should be proud that we've decided to do something about it.

Pollyforever · 14/08/2022 21:20

Welcome @TimWasMeanToMe @crazyplanet @ishouldntsaybut
How's everyone's day been?
I've had 1600 cals, done 9000 steps so a bit short of my target but not bad in this weather and with 3 young kids in tow. Had approx 3 litres, the kids kept drinking out if my bottle so hard to keep track exactly!
I am craving chocolate or cake!!! We've got some in too so I've brought myself upstairs to paint my nails and have an early night. It's not that the food is forbidden just that I've used up my calorie allowance!
Weigh day in the morning for many of us, I hope we've all lost!

Bringonsummer19 · 15/08/2022 08:37

Amazing @Pollyforever you were on holiday.

I lost 3lb, I am pleased. Though I’m more proud of going a whole week without eating anything after 7pm. I realise that it’s in this area that made me put on the weight.

TimWasMeanToMe · 15/08/2022 08:56

Well done @Pollyforever. That’s amazing :-) I’ll be chuffed if I manage the same.
I think I’m going to weigh in on Wednesdays as it’s my day off (once I’m back at work after the summer holidays).

Todays task is attempting to find my Apple Watch charger so I can start tracking steps. I’m hoping I didn’t leave it in France 😩

TimWasMeanToMe · 15/08/2022 08:59

@Bringonsummer19 Thats amazing too! Well done.
Im trying to cut out eating in the evenings too.

Trug · 15/08/2022 10:13

Well done 👏 both of you! I have managed to put on a pound despite all the exercise and sweating. So time for plan B and changing my eating habits (rather than convincing myself I’m being healthy by adding a bit of salad to my plate).

Pollyforever · 15/08/2022 11:28

Oh no @Trug that's disappointing for you
