1200 calories a day = 28" waist Levi's 501

Hi I am starting today to eat 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 13st. I lost 6st 2 years ago and reached 10st. Unfortunately life/work got in the way and I took my eye of the ball and regained. I did calorie counting before and it worked, so I am trying again.

I'm hoping to fit into my beloved 28 Waist Levi's 501 jeans. I treated myself to a pair, once I'd slimmed down. I want to wear them again.

I’ve been calorie counting only for a week but I have 1400 hope I can still join!

I use the nutracheck app to log.

I weigh 11stone 4 and an 5ft 4 - would like to lose 2 stone but am 49 so I worry it’s just not going to happen! When I was in my twenties and thirties I smoked and never had a weight issue, I could certainly drop a few mounds a week easily though if needed. Now it seems so hard!

My motivation is to wear my beautiful eternity ring again Smile

@FuckyNel welcome aboard. Yes you can join. It doesn't matter whether you're eating 1400 or 1200. It's keeping accountable and having someone to chat to that often helps. You can do it. Good luck :)

Hi everyone,

About to have my favourite soup for lunch - Mary Berry’s butternut squash soup. I add a handful of red lentils for extra protein (am veggie) and a dash of olive oil at the end and have it with a small bread roll.

I find it keeps me full and is low cal and super tasty.

lou967 · 17/05/2020 12:04

@Batqueen sounds lovely. I may try it :)

Pulses and soup are both good for keeping hunger at bay.

I saw this documentary once where people are the same ingredients, but one in soup form and one as the contents plus a glass of water.

The soup eaters stayed feeling full longer.

I’m doing OK;

Small bowl of porridge made with semi skimmed milk, with a few blueberries for breakfast.

Will have some of yesterday’s soup for lunch with a small slice of bread.

lou967 · 17/05/2020 13:22

Porridge with skimmed milk again this morning. Plus I had a banana to go with it.

Just having lunch now. I'm having turkey breast, broccoli, sprouts, cabbage and some new potatoes.

Hi lou. Reading the thread with interest as I'm also 13 stone and just under 5.8 tall. So very similar.

About 2 months ago I had flu and lost my appetite. I lost 8lbs in 3 weeks!

Have put it all back on during lockdown.

My weakness is alcohol (wine), toast and my dd is an excellent baker and doing a lot of baking at home, so constantly making biscuits and cakes!

ITonyah · 17/05/2020 13:31

I'm planning to try low carbing plus a calorie deficit. I was running every day but overdid it and have pulled a muscle in my calf.

Caramel78 · 17/05/2020 13:35

I’m 5ft 7 and weight 12 stone 9. I’m pear shaped as I only have C cup boobs and my stomach isn’t too big other than a bit of bloat. My thighs, hips and bums on the other hand...
I’d like to lose 2 stone as I want to keep a bit curvy. I’ll probably be a size 8-10 on top and 10-12 on bottom if I do that which I’d be happy with.
Portion sizes are my downfall as I like to eat until I feel verging on stuffed. I’m trying to distract myself as much as possible during the day so I’m not just sitting snacking too

lou967 · 17/05/2020 13:45

Welcome @ITonyah and @Caramel78 you can do it. Any clothes you want to fit back into? Or is it purely just to get healthier? Good luck :) you can do it SmileGrin

5km jog this morning - I love food and am terrible at calories restricting so I HAVE to exercise to create any kind of deficit.
Berries and fromage frais for breakfast, and Veggie burger with hash browns and veg for lunch

lou967 · 17/05/2020 13:49

@Veterinari well done you! Keep it up Grin

Going for a walk this afternoon. Hopefully stops me wanting to eat. I'm not giving up!!

I had spicy carrot and lentil soup, and discovered that a crumpet is 95 cals, so had one with a tsp of butter (34 cals).

lou967 · 17/05/2020 14:03

@YinMnBlue thats interesting. I wonder why those who had soup were less hungry? Sometimes if I eat soup I'll end up starving (even though I'm not) and eat loads of bread with it.

I must get used to eating less

I think picking a fave piece of clothing would be a great motivator. Will do tonight!

lou967 · 17/05/2020 14:14

@ITonyah great :) Mine are my 501 jeans. I do have others I cant wait to fit back into as well.

I’ve just had beetroot, 2 corn thins and 10g peanut butter for a total of 210 cals. It was a lot of beetroot Grin

Breakfast was a brown thin, 2 bacon medallions and a sliced boiled egg. That was 216 cals.

My peleton bike tomorrow and although I’m excited (I love spin) I’m nervous of how hungry it makes me!

lou967 · 17/05/2020 14:20

Think of hunger as you're losing weight. Thats what I've been told Grin

Has anyone taken any before photos for a before and after?

OP posts:
EvenPhilip · 17/05/2020 15:04

I will be doing this tomorrow.
Unlikely to post them on here though tbh, not that brave Grin

EvenPhilip · 17/05/2020 15:16

Was getting ready for bed last night and dh said to me "Isn't a bra supposed to actually contain your boobs"? Then this morning grabbed my bum in bed muttering something about being "A whole lotta woman" Hmm If ever I needed motivating that certainly helped.
My straight leg jeans that needed a belt are now skinnies that I have to do some ridiculous dance in to get them over my thighs, I can't get into last year's summer stuff, cellulite is terrible, I could go on.

lou967 · 17/05/2020 15:22

@EvenPhilip You will get back into your jeans (Are they a brand?) and all of last summer's stuff. Any designer or special items that you really cant wait to wear?

OP posts:
EvenPhilip · 17/05/2020 15:32

No Lou , they're not branded, wore my last pair of 501s for 20 years until they fell to bits and never really got round to getting any new ones.
I just want to fit into some of my favourite stuff and get some new stuff once I'm there. It'll have to be a new pair of 501s really won't it.

lou967 · 17/05/2020 15:35

@EvenPhilip There's a goal for you. I recommend getting a pair of eBay. They have lots of vintage ones on there (like mine) still tagged and they will be the same as what you wore 20 years ago. I wouldn't bother getting new 501's as they are stretchy.

You'll fit into everything. I know you will. You can't give up :)
