A nice shiny new thread!

Second feed here. I am so tired. Ds has been doing 8 hour stints for 3 days so why is he now waking 3 hourly Sad .

You'll get through it larle Brew. Keep strong!

MrsN You're doing great. Before you know it ds will be sleeping through Grin

Thanks Emily. I finally got some sleep Not had a chance to get a look at his rash tonight but it's probably clearing and I'll have nothing to worry about.

Going to attempt transfer fingers crossed.

SoYoFromKokomo · 20/04/2013 04:05

Evening all,

DH got home from work 2hrs late & then our plans for the evening went completely tits up so didn't end up getting LO into bed until 11pm. First feed since now and I ink we're having a transfer fail.

It's really hard keeping your spirits up and remembering to be gentle to each other when you're so tired isn't it Larle. I'm a witch to DH at the moment and he's grumpy after work because he's not happy there at the moment so not a good combination. It doesn't help that I think I'm more than a little jealous that he gets to go out & be himself & see & talk to people all day and then come home for smiles and cuddles for a couple of hours before bed rather than be at the beck and call of DD and PuppyMonster 24/7.

funchum8am · 20/04/2013 04:23

Hi all, I am now up for the day as yet again babyfunch has decided to wake at three thirty and then refuse to go back to sleep. I think her eczema is keeping her from going back to sleep. Her back is itchy so when she lies on it she starts wriggling trying to ease the itch but just ends up squalling Sad. She can sleep on her front but only til 3:30am apparently.

DH has had his meeting with work and is going back three days but as a teacher, not deputy head, from sept, which is a great compromise.

Sorry to hear of all the bad nights and poorly babies and DH rows...it is so hard on everyone when you cannot see where your next stretch of sleep is coming from.

DD is yelling so am going to have to give in and give her a bottle...am also down to one bf per day as of yesterday as she just won't take her evening feed anymore. She is completely distracted yet wolfs a bottle, but still feeds happily in the morning. Not sure how much longer that will last but I am going to try not to be too Sad when she drops that too, there isn't much I can do if she starts refusing to bf!

Babybeesmama · 20/04/2013 05:51

Can say with great conviction that co sleeping Is over for us - babybee fell out of our bed at 5am BlushSadSadSad. I have been crying & feel so terrible. He seems ok but I just feel so guilty. He's too mobile to be in our bed. X

GiraffesAndButterflies · 20/04/2013 07:58

Oh poor babybeesmana. Hope your little guy is ok- he will probably recover from the shock much quicker than you will!

I raided Waitrose for non-chocolate biscuits yesterday . DM came with me and encouraged me to spend loads as she had a £30 voucher to use up. So I blithely chucked in all manner of pricey delicious things, it's very easy to do a trolley dash in waitrose. Got to the checkout and bless her the voucher turned out to be for £3 not £30 Grin But it would have taken faar to long to out everything back, obviously, so I bought it all anyway Grin

We've entered a weird new sleep pattern where DD screams and fights my breast. We had screaming and anger until 1.30am but then she slept for 5 hours straight, a new PB for her. I'm not really sure how to deal with the fury though, can't figure out a cause. Advice welcome...

Good luck to you all trying to cut down those night feeds, hope your LOs get the idea soon.

larlemucker · 20/04/2013 09:32

giraffe baby larle sometimes does that, have you tried breast compression? Cup your hand around boob but with your hand right against chest wall and squeeze. He gets like it if he has had the let down and it isn't coming out quick enough!!

Not so DH still not speaking to me this morning, I'm a but upset about it but what has upset me more is that he has also ignored our DS. That's not right. He was meant to get baby larle up, dressed and sorted this morn so I could express but he didn't get out if bed. He is also off work now for 5 days so its not as if he is going to piss off to work. I tried apologising last night but he obviously isn't interested, it was my fault as I but his head off last night. I'd not had half an hours sleep when baby larle woke up, I tried rocking to get him to sleep. When he fell asleep DH patted me on the knee, I was pissed off and it felt patronising so I told him to sod off. Bad if me I know but I was half asleep at the time.
We have never argued like this and we've been together 13 years.

And to top it off the sky isn't working so no tv either

MrsNPattz · 20/04/2013 09:35

Well not a great night but kind of successful as only one feed. But he was awake every 2 hours and poor hubby has been awake since 4 cause he took little man into bed with him but then couldn't sleep himself. I got a few hours. Can't see when it's going to end.

Thanks guys, Emily I'm about half way through that book. Will try and read some more today.

Sorry for all of the other bad nights. Larle remind me how old little one is?

OP posts:
larlemucker · 20/04/2013 10:05

Baby larle is 1 week off 4 months

MrsNPattz · 20/04/2013 10:54

A bit younger than little man then. You aren't alone Larle, keep talking to us xx

OP posts:
Emilythornesbff · 20/04/2013 11:32

Some words of encouragement (it's a beautiful day )

larlemucker and mrsN I promise this will change. Your babies are still tiny and it is normal for them still to feed at night (esp baby larle at 4 months) so you are doing all the right things.
mrsn take yourself to the back of that book where there's a section on "emergency measures" when you are at the end of your rope.
babybeesmama I feel for you. Been there. But he's fine isn't he. Brew.

You're all great and thanks for helping with those night feeding blues.
See you around midnight Grin

Emilythornesbff · 20/04/2013 11:39

larle you've said sorry. Let yourself off now.

He's tired like you're not, I know! and he'll come round.

These early times with both dc have really tested my relationship with dh. I mean there are times when......... Angry
But time passes, the nights get easier, you get yourself back a bit and it settles down. Thanks and Wine for you. No sharing with mr grumpy.

Oh I am wise old lady today Grin

MrsNPattz · 20/04/2013 11:39

Emily you are a star - you really make me feel better and I can't thank you enough. Will have a read! xx

Amey I feel for you, but he is fine and you will be to. I'm pretty sure it will happen to us all! Hugs xx

OP posts:
larlemucker · 20/04/2013 11:54

amey he will be fine, they are very resilient!! I know lots of people who's babies have fallen out of bed or been dropped (Shock) and they're not brain damaged or anything!!!

Thank you emily you are very wise!!

Anypants · 20/04/2013 13:01

I've missed it all again - just trying to catch up on last night as we had a miracle of getting DD off at about 11.30 and then she slept through until 7. I was pleased until she went down for a nap at 9 but was still asleep at 11 and I had to wake her at 12 to feed her. Unusual for her to sleep so long in the day so am starting to think something is wrong. DH is going to work at 9pm tonight, leaving me alone with her overnight for the first time. Am dreading it in case something bad happens and i'm on my own Shock
So I may well see you all later - i'll bring the coffee and low fat jaffa cakes... Brew Biscuit

abi2790 · 20/04/2013 13:58

I am soooo tired. Just as I thought ds was into a better sleeping routine that all gets thrown out the window :( DP has taken him to the shops so we both can get some sleep but I just can't seem to sleep. I hope he sleeps better tonight.

Sorry you and your dh have had a falling out larle. He will come round. You're both just really tired.

Try not to worry babybee. He's fine and it happens all the time. Big hugs! :)

MrsNPattz · 20/04/2013 14:58

That's a brilliant night Any, jealous lol

We are all in this together Abi Thanks

Larle your DH will come round and when he does he needs to promise not to ignore baby again, that is, as you say, really not ok. We are coming out of the early days blur now and our relationship is back closer to where we were before babyfunch came along, but with a few more strategies for biting our tongues now we have seen how bad it can get if we don't!

I think I can see things a bit from the men's side since I am the one working and DH is at home and doing nights etc...I do feel a bit like I never get to have a break since I have to be on the ball at work, and then when I get home I am on baby duty every waking moment plus two weekend nights. When I think that way I just remind myself that I am not doing the bulk of the nights and remember to feel grateful for that as it is a huuuuge bonus! Not sure if any of your DHs feel the same but they really might not get how awful the lack of sleep and the 24/7 responsibility is as they haven't had to do it themselves since you are such fab mums Wink

Amey I feel for you but am sure ds will be fine....I remember when babyfunch fell out of the carseat at the HV clinic how awful I felt and how much I cried but it never had any effect on her at all!

Now for the first time I am wishing she would wake up so we can get out and enjoy the sunshine!!

GiraffesAndButterflies · 20/04/2013 20:31

Argh stupid iPhone refreshed and lost my post :(

larle thanks v much for the tip, will try that at tonight's screaming match! Hope your DH has realised he was BU and you guys have patched things up now.

Wishing extra advance sleepydust to MrsN and abi, good luck to you both for tonight.

Any could your LO be having a growth spurt which is prompting the extra sleep?

abi2790 · 20/04/2013 20:49

Thanks Giraffes.

Ugghh little man has been feeding since 7. Everytime he pulls away he wants more 2 minutes later. I've tried rocking and shushing him but he's having none of it. I think he's doing it for comfort... I wish he would have a dummy! He has been feeding a lot in the day too.

MrsNPattz · 20/04/2013 21:11

Hope things improve Abi.

Hoping for a smooth transfer and a good night as hubby is out drinking so no help from him tonight. Little man has napped really well today so I'm really hoping that it's true about daytime naps effecting night time sleep!!

Good luck guys xx

OP posts:
abi2790 · 20/04/2013 21:56

Thanks MrsN, you too :) DS has slept well today too. Albeit mostly napping on me but he did go in his crib for about half an hour and he slept in his pram this morning. Usually if he's slept well in the day he's less agitated and will sleep well at night. I hope it's the same for you :)

He finally let me put him down after he had a cry once coming off my breast. I think he's feeling a bit poorly. He's had a snotty nose and has been sneezing in his sleep. The rash on his face looks really sore too :(

Emilythornesbff · 20/04/2013 22:00

Good luck mrsnpatz
Had a great day. Tried to give ebm but babythorne having none of it so no Wine for me.
Hoping this is the bedtime feed and for a bit of a stretch of sleep. Two sets of 3 hours would be fantastic.
Well, I can dream (or rather I can't IYSWIM)
Good night wishes to you all.
Em.

Anypants · 20/04/2013 22:11

Thanks Giraffe - possibly a growth spurt but since this morning she hasn't been quite so sleepy i.e. hasn't napped for more than a couple of hours so i'm not so concerned now. Phew!
However, I did just have a little cry as DH left for work. He's been out all day and was meant to be back to watch the LO so I could go and get the weekly shop but he ended up running late so I took her with me. Never again - She hated the trolley so I had to push it with one hand and hold her with the other. Grrr. I get back, DH is asleep. When he gets up, he tells me he's got an hour before he has to leave and I hadn't started dinner yet so he got the hump and said 'i can't do everything'. I am now alone with DD who now won't go to sleep and I can't stop crying. Sad

funchum8am · 20/04/2013 23:01

Here's my hand any! That sounds pretty damn unreasonable of your fella! Hugs, WineBrewThanks to all of those who are going through the mill just now.

Anypants · 20/04/2013 23:14

Thanks funch. Off to bed now but will check in at first feed in the night. (Have stopped crying temporily while LO is asleep...) Blush
