MrsN I feed with every night waking too. I used to get him up as soon as he started fidgeting so he wouldn't cry but realised most of the time I was waking him up!! Now I only get him up if he is awake.
Ignore your SIL, it's your baby and you what you think is right

Babybeesmama · 10/03/2013 20:15

Bless you mrsn - I think you & little man are doing amazing! He sleeps brilliantly! Just ignore SIL, if she says anything again just quote her some bf fact that babies often need feeding in night longer! Like others said you know your baby best! I could be bothered fannying about getting them back to sleep if feeding them did it quickly! If he's taking a decent feed In night I'm sure he needs it still! Oh and mil was prob jealous of your willpower at resisting cupcake I am!! Xxx

Babybeesmama · 10/03/2013 20:16

'Couldnt' even!! X

MrsNPattz · 10/03/2013 20:36

Aw thank you guys, I feel better now! Yea he always takes a good feed before falling asleep so I know it's what he needs. She just makes me doubt myself sometimes. Thank you. Amey they were huge ones from Costco - hubby is eating one now. I sniffed it Blush haha

larlemucker · 10/03/2013 21:12

MrsN you know if you break it in half first then some of the calories fall out!!

Susieloo · 11/03/2013 00:39

2nd feed of the night and I'm totally and utterly pissed off that this is the 4th or 5th time he has been up since bed time, I go back to work in about five weeks and I just can't imagine doing it if I'm still going to be getting up this much, bb is 8 months old today and I thought this would have all stopped by now, I can't even consider cc because I know he will just become hysterical and hot.

Rant over and breathe.......

BrainGoneAwol · 11/03/2013 00:58

Poor you susie, any chance he's teething? That sounds like too many for there not to be some sort of reason Sad Hope sleep improves.

mrsn well done on resisting the cupcake. I have no willpower with food so have never tried ww or similar. I try to lose it through lots of walking, though I think I need to do something more drastic to get rid of my tummy...

Agree with the comments about sil. You know your baby. If I 'just left' babybrain, he'd just go from grizzling to screaming the house down! Trust your instincts Smile

I think I got dp to agree to take some time off to help with some night weaning. Don't let on

MrsNPattz · 11/03/2013 02:35

First feed here, later than the last few nights which is good.

Thanks for your support, I woke up wishing I was strong enough to stand up for myself, but that's just not me.

Lol Larle - I have an image of a cupcake with stuff falling out, but I'm not sure what a calorie looks like Grin

Susie, sending hugs - that's all I can do. This will pass, even if it doesn't seem it right now. Stay strong! You are a great mum.

Babybeesmama · 11/03/2013 03:19

First feed since 11pm feed here but he woke at 1 and has co slept since then but has been wriggling about and kept me awake. He's going in the cot after this - I've decided!

DH is snoring... Again! Angry

Susie - know how you feel! Its so hard when they wake frequently but you don't know why. It will pass.... Its just a phase!

Jayne266 · 11/03/2013 03:26

I am not even getting woken up for feeds my DS goes to bed at 7pm (7months old) and always wakes up way too early (4am) and the last 2 weeks he has been up every 2 hours.

Am so fed up and tired I have been ill with a cold for over a week, which I normally get rid of in a few days. I feel so run down but my DH does his share. I don't really know what to do. Am up in 2.5hrs for a 12hr shift.

mama04 · 11/03/2013 04:00

Dd is sleeping great for once & I can't shut my eyes Confused typical! X

BrainGoneAwol · 11/03/2013 04:11

Hi jayne welcome - I don't think I've seen you here before but I've not been on much recently. Sorry you're having bad nights. Can I ask what it is your ds is doing? - ie if not feeding does he just want cuddles etc? Have you gone back to work recently?

I have heard (read?) that some babies try to make up the lost contact during the night. Perhaps it's that? Making lots of assumptions there...
As said above, it will pass. Hang in there.

We're on second feed here. Second night in a row of slightly less waking. Trying not to get my hopes up...

amey snoring is so hard! I'm constantly amazed that more violence doesn't happen as a result of snoring.

MrsNPattz · 11/03/2013 06:56

Second feed here, probably up time but it would be nice if it wasn't!

Welcome Jayne and Mama!

BrainGoneAwol · 11/03/2013 07:56

Welcome mama, hope the insomnia is short lived. Smile

Up time for me. Poor babybrain is teething really badly. He wakes himself moaning in his sleep and rubbing his ears. All with his eyes shut as he really wants to be sleeping. Sad

Hope you all have good days

larlemucker · 11/03/2013 09:30

Welcome mama and jayne, sorry you've had to join us!!

Not too bad a night here but I struggled to fed as the night before last I fell asleep while feeding, sat up with my head on the top of the headboard (baby larle was perfectly safe BTW!!!) but it's really hurt my neck and shoulder. I'm in bloody agonyHmm

On the bright side I'm getting better at expressing, been getting 3.5oz off one side (sorry if TMI but really proud of myself my boobs)

Loads of snow here, what's it like where you lot are?

brain sorry to hear about baby brain, have you tried teething granules or anbesol? Poor thing, must be so painful.

BrainGoneAwol · 11/03/2013 09:49

No snow here thankfully ba humbug but bitterly cold. Definitely hats and gloves for local mum coffee this morning.

larle thanks for the tip. A friend recently suggested anbesol and it's much better than the gels partly because babybrain can't eat it before I have a chance to smear it in his gums Bless him, he had a really nasty bleeding nappy rash as well this morning which I think is also from teeth. They have such a hard time of it! Sad

larlemucker · 11/03/2013 11:31

From personal experience anbesol liquid is fab. I had really bad wisdom tooth infections (many years ago) and rubbed it in 24/7. It really numbs the gum and stops the pain.
Hope it helps baby brain and means you get more sleep!!!

MissingMyMarbles · 11/03/2013 13:54

Hang on there, Susie. If you weren't back and work, would it still be bothering you as much? I don't mean that to sound patronising, it's just that I was panicking too, because of work, and I wouldn't have if it wasn't for that. It is coming right. We are by no means there yet, but nights have dramatically improved since she worked out she can get in a comfy position on her own and has pretty much self-settled the last few nights. Each stretch is getting slightly longer. You are doing great.

Hi Mama and Jayne!

Ok can't remember what else I read Blush Will have to check through again later.

MissingMyMarbles · 11/03/2013 15:14

Oh Crikey! I just re-read that when checking in again! Should be hang IN there!! It sounds even more patronising than I feared. Sorry SusieBlush just trying to be encouragingGrin

Have lost half a stone this weekGrin woop woop! First week of SW is always a good'un. Don't expect to have such big losses from now but glad to see resultsGrin

MrsNPattz · 11/03/2013 15:31

Wow Marbles that's fantastic!! Well done you Smile bet that has spurred you on!

Little man now has two teeth coming through on the bottom, just given him Calpol and Calpol teething gel. We are off to view his photos later, I wonder how much we hubby will end up spending!!

We still have snow from yesterday but it's really sunny today so it's going. Went for a walk earlier and it's cold in the wind, but otherwise a lovely day.

Susieloo · 11/03/2013 17:42

Last feed before bed-it's like a disaster movie round here with the arctic wind picking up snow flurries and swirling them round,

Totally got what you meant marbles-it is mainly the work issue bothering me I think-I go back on the 15th April and starting to feel quite desperate about it, the sleep is one issue but I'm also not sure how I'm going to handle going from being with him all the time to leaving him at 8.30 and then getting home when he is basically ready for bed, the reality is starting to kick in and it's making me feel really anxious, that combined with frustration at last nights wake ups just really got to me.

I'm heading straight for bath and bed after bb asleep.

On a brighter note my mum and dad have offered to have bb for the night on Sunday so me and dp can finally get round to drinking the champagne we were given when he was born-we've saved it for the first night we have to really enjoy it - bb completely adores my mum so I'll be able to relax hopefully and get a film nights sleep!!

Have good nights everyone.

MissingMyMarbles · 11/03/2013 18:56

Just doing bedtime feed.

We're having the arctic winds and horizontal snow flurries too. DH us off thi evening so we are all in pj's and the doors are lockedSmile

Sleepy Mice to all

Babybeesmama · 11/03/2013 19:06

Well done marbles! Susie - Envy of your champers! Enjoy! And can't believe you got locked in conservatoryBlush!

Bedtime feed here & babybee has had a good day food & milk wise, remains to be seen whether it will make a difference sleep wise! Hope so Sad!

DH on call this week and looks like he's already got work to do tonight Angry! Grr! Hate him being on call.

I'm going to try to be strong and not co sleep tonight, I cricked my neck staying in same position from 3-5am! I feel tired already so I'm sure I will cave in but my intention is there. Its weird because he has self settled for x3 naps today without crying so I can't understand why at night its so different. Anyway, sleepy dust all! Xx

BrainGoneAwol · 11/03/2013 19:10

Oh mrsn I meant to say, if you want any help with sage though it's about 10 yrs ago that I used it or other accounting things let me know and I'll give you a hand if I can. I am qualified though it would have to be with a disclaimer of being unofficial advice Smile

GoatBongosAnonymous · 11/03/2013 19:29

Hello mama and jayne !
susie I am in exactly the same situation re going back to work - 15 April and will get home right on bedtime. Really really stressed about sleep patterns, but last two nights have been better so fingers crossed. Will really really miss baby goat though... Never thought I would think like that!
No snow here either but that's some wind!
