Hi everyone, I am safely back home and everyone seems to have survived here. Good to know I am actually not indispensable in a weird way!

Welcome lamprey, wow two sets of twins on this thread!

Marbles since we have been having similar nights I hope mine are about to improve like yours!! How old is missmarbles? (Sorry I did know but can't hold info for long Blush)

Babyfunch did better last night for DH - 7-1am(wowzers, hope that continues!) and then 1:30-3:30 ( also better than the usual hourly wakings). BUT she was then up for the day at 3:30 so poor DH had to get up with her and she didn't nap again til 6:45.

Speaking of DH, as I go back to work on 25 feb he will be on night duty from then on, at least in the week. How would everyone feel if he joined the thread?! I am not sure he actually would want to but it has been such a great support to me and I wouldn't want hi to have to cope with less than I have had...but some of you might feel odd having a man, and one I have been on here telling you about (!) on the thread. I have no issue with him spilling the beans on me to you all but can see it might make some feel uncomfortable....thoughts?!

StitchAteMySleep · 03/02/2013 16:55

The more the merrier fumchum, I have always felt that mn should be called parents net and be more inclusive of men.

DH was SAHD for 2 years with dd1 and always found it difficult going to baby and toddler groups etc because of the women not being very friendly (or too friendly, if you catch my meaning).

Has he got a good sense of humour? Can he bake (or even just eat cake)?

MissingMyMarbles · 03/02/2013 18:31

Evening all. Hope everyone has had a lovely Sunday. Ours has been busy but Missmarbles wasn't so distracted so I am hoping she doesn't feel the need to feed all night and we can repeat, or even improve on, last night.

Funch, Missmarbles is 7 months next Monday. I think baby Funch is a little younger? I have no problem your DH joining the thread. What will his username be?

Hope you got caught up a bit today, Larle.

Nice one, MrsN.

Waves to Stitch, and everyone else. Fruit cake on the table - dig in. See you all later. Hoping, as always, for lots of sleep.

ChilliBanana · 03/02/2013 19:11

I have no issues with Mr funch joining the thread, I hope he gets as much support from it as we do.

Baby chilli has had a stonking cold since Thursday but apart from making bedtime more fraught, he's actually slept for 3 - 4 hours at a time rather than waking hourly! It makes no sense at all but I'm grateful for the extra sleep.

Fruitcake sounds lovely marbles, I haven't had tea yet and I'm starving Smile

Hi to everyone else, no doubt see some of you later.

TheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 03/02/2013 19:16

Really good to hear you're feeling better today marbles

funch glad you're home safely, please tell Mr Funch he is most welcome, I think the only requirements for joining this thread are a nocturnal baby and a fondness for cake :)

Hooray for your lie in mrsn a little extra kip can make all the difference sometimes. Hope your night is as good!

DH just got back as I was getting the girls out of the bath, dd1 was so excited to see him it actually made me cry a bit and I'm looking forward to a cuddle and catch up once we've got the girls to sleep.

Looking forward to our Sunday night top gear, call the midwife and glass of Wine, hoping babylump settles quickly tonight.

See you all later on xx

MrsNPattz · 03/02/2013 19:33

Evening! I have a few swimming questions - after swimming, do you wash them there or just dry them and bath them at home? What about you - do you shower there or at home? We start water babies on Tues and I'm a bit nervous!

Today was a tough day WW wise - I'm finding it so much harder this time. Even with the extra points I always feel hungry, and crave sweet things. It must be the breast feeding. I didn't give in though!

Funch - Mr Funch is more than welcome!

Hope you are ok Susie!

BrainGoneAwol · 03/02/2013 21:06

funch Mr is more than welcome. I think it's hard sometimes for partners when they don't get autoenrollment into all the support networks. Cake appreciation is obviously a requirement.

mrsn well done on sticking at ww. The extra cravings from bf are extra challenging! I've suddenly developed a desire for chocolate and I always used to prefer savoury.

heff gah the effect of exhaustion on emotions. I find myself having to hold back tears and hysteria on a regular basis.

Poor little babybrain has his second tooth just beginning to split the gum. No wonder he kept crying last night. Calpol for him tonight and hopefully a bit more sleep. We shall see!

Sleepy dust to you all Smile

larlemucker · 03/02/2013 22:02

Congrats Mrsn, always nice to have a lie in, we managed to catch up on some sleep. Hoping for a better night tonight although already looking like first transfer failed Sad
funch Mr funch is very welcome Jo join us. Shame that dads don't seem to be more welcome to things, my dh was sent away from my first antenatal class as they wasn't enough room for partners and has been the only dad we have seen at baby social and health visitor weigh in.
brain fingers crossed calpol works.
Sleepy dust to everyone, some marble cake and shortbread left over if required overnight!

funchum8am · 03/02/2013 22:34

thanks all for supportive comments re DH! I will see what he.thinks about joining in now! He is fab at cooking and a reasonable baker, and is most definitely equipped with the requisite love of cake!

larle I am Shock that they sent your DH away from the antenatal class! stitch does your DH have any tips for a sahd? other than strict avoidance of over friendly mums!!

We have had a bit of an evening here - I undressed babyfunch for a massage and she had this bright red rash all over her, so after a quick Google of meningitis symptoms we thought it best to get her checked over at A&E. They saw us really quickly despite an advertised wait of 3 hours and it turns out she has a throat infection which has caused a rash (has a posh name which I can't remember!). No treatment needed other than calpol thank goodness. So a bit stressful but happily all seems ok. Phew!

Annoyingly I can't sleep now that I have paid back a bit of my sleep debt and will no doubt drop off just before she wakes for a feed Sad

Sprinkling sleepy dust!

funchum8am · 03/02/2013 22:35

heff glad to hear DH is back and hope you got your relaxing evening in front of the telly Smile

BrainGoneAwol · 03/02/2013 23:50

Sadly calpol only worked for a couple of hours. After administering, DP said "oh you should shake the bottle" Hmm have to wait for 4 hours before he can have a proper dose. Sad

Glad that baby funch is ok. How scary!

Wish babybrain was as sleepy as me!

larlemucker · 04/02/2013 01:47

Blimey funch, sounds scary. Glad its nothing serious.
First feed here, earlier than usual although same time as last night so hope we're not in for a repeat.
It wasn't the midwifes fault dh got turned away, the room they are given to use is tiny so there was nowhere for him to stand let alone sit!

BrainGoneAwol · 04/02/2013 02:06

Back again Sad Much as I feel sorry for babybrain's teething, I need some sleep tonight! At least he is trying to feed this time....

larle sadly that sort of shows how seriously (or not) hospital management take the classes.

Having bad closing eyelids problem so posting this while it still makesvsensw Grin

BrainGoneAwol · 04/02/2013 02:17

Fail Sad. Tried too soon I think. Why is it that they can wake when you try to put them down and stay awake, but if you bring them back to your lap they be asleep instantly?!

Ameybee · 04/02/2013 03:05

Its mad isnt it brain! They are clever little things!

We've been up since 2 as baby bees cold/cough has gotten worse :( just given calpol & plugged in vapour plug in. He's finally nodded off in my arms & I don't even know if I dare attempt transfer or just lay down and co-sleep!!

Susie loo - how's things with baby loo?
Xx

funchum8am · 04/02/2013 03:07

Ugh was up 1 - 2.15 trying to settle without feeding to sleep and already awake again. Not feeding this time, trying Ewan plus dummy. Sort of ncss tactics basically - reducing reliance on feeding to sleep. Takes ages to settle her with dummy and I am meant to introduce a range of ways to get her to drop off, but only feeding has ever worked at night!

brain I know what you mean, soooo frustrating!

MrsNPattz · 04/02/2013 04:27

First feed here - it's blowing a gale outside. I have a feeling this is going to be another up for an hour feed as he seems too awake!

Funch how scary - so glad everything is ok. Hope little one is better very soon.

Brain yes I definitely have more of a sweet tooth than usual - I usually love savoury too but it doesn't do anything for me at the moment. Lots of virtual cake needed Grin

MissingMyMarbles · 04/02/2013 05:46

Ok night. 3 hourly feeding. In our bed now as transfer fail. Trying to use phone to mesmerise Missmarbles who seems far to awake. DH gone to sofaSad

BrainGoneAwol · 04/02/2013 05:48

Back up again. Really hope this doesn't go on too long. The second tooth is still only a crack in the gum so there's a lot of pain still to go Sad

funch I had so many intentions of getting him to self-settle but you're so desperate for sleep you'll break all your own rules. I'm sort of hoping it'll all come right as he gets older and weans off night feeds puts head in the sand for another day. I think I'd collapse if I lost more sleep in the attempt. Credit to you.

mrsn hope the gale hasn't kept you up. I used to love it when it was wild and windy and I was all snug inside. Different obviously when you have a baby!

funchum8am · 04/02/2013 07:11

Haven't had any sleep since my last post Sad. babyfunch is clearly teething, exciting but when added to already awful sleep it is a bit scary. Lying down makes her cry, presumably makes gums throb. Wonder when I will next sleep?

larlemucker · 04/02/2013 07:43

Oh funch, have you tried ambesol liquid? I think its ok for babies, has a local anesthetic in it. It's good stuff.
Hope everyone else is getting some sleep. Baby larle on 4th feed! How come I can cope with the middle of the night wake ups at this time in the morning I'm really tired?

TheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 04/02/2013 09:10

Good night here waking at 1 which only included one transfer failure then at 5. Co slept from 5 so didn't wake up til half 7 which was lovely.

brain :( for tooth pain, I think we're due a tooth appearance in the next month or so judging by all the redness and discomfort she seems to be in. Hope you got back to sleep.

funch another bad one you must be exhausted, what are you doing tomorrow? If you want a nap I could come over with the double buggy and take baby funch for a walk with babylump so you can catch up?

Hope everyone has good days xx

Ameybee · 04/02/2013 09:20

We were up every hour since my last post. Funch - think we are teething too although calpol didn't help :( SO bloody tired! X

Susieloo · 04/02/2013 10:34

Hello everyone, sorry for the rubbish nights out there. I am still lurking but not been posting due to dp and I now sharing night feeds with me doing most of the ones in the week and him taking over at the weekend which means I have been catching up on sleep and wine consumption in equal measures. We have been having some quite good nights with a couple of one night only wakings and we are now working on trying to push his bedtime routine back to 6.30 so he's asleep by 7 rather than asleep by six and sometimes up for the day at 5.30-this is harder than I anticipated because he is so grouchy by 5.30 due to still poor naps in the day. I'm also finding it hard to use my iPhone at night for posting because it distracts him.

mrsn would love to know how you get on at water babies, we start next week and I'm totally confused about how to get both me and babyloo changed and it also says I can't feed him in the changing room and I know he's going to be starving when he comes out of the water, also no idea where I am meant to put him whilst I'm getting changed, not allowed to bring prams into the changing room understandably. Hoping it will all make sense when I get there!!

amey not surprised your tired and I think when the time feels right you should take up the offer of dm or mil (can't remember which one!) offer of having baby bee over night, I've felt loads better in the last couple of weeks and just one nights uninterrupted sleep makes all the difference.

fun glad you had a good weekend away and it would be great to have your dh on here, I thought about suggesting it to dp but he's got a naughty streak and would probably end up wading into other threads and starting bun fights!!!

goat how are you doing? and marbles glad your nights are improving, can't believed that they will be 7 months next week.

Sorry not to name check everyone, hello to stich, brain, larle, heff and look and sorry if I've missed anyone!

MrsNPattz · 04/02/2013 10:52

Morning, I was wrong - we weren't up for an hour, he went straight back down after his feed! Thankfully!

I'm getting waxed this morning ready for swimming tomorrow and the wedding on Saturday! Then counselling later.

Hope all of the poorly teeth get better soon - poor things!
