Is there a breastfeeding while pregnant thread already?

If not would anyone like to join me?

Experienced and first time feeding while pregnant mums welcome. I'm almost 11 weeks with DC2 and am still feeding DS (15 months). We are currently working at night weaning him (although he is incredibly persistent) and he still feeds 3/4/5 time per day, although he is starting to eat more solids.

I don't know anyone in RL who has fed whilst pregnant or tandemed and it would be great to be able to share frustrations etc with others.

So please come and join me, or point me in the direction of the right thread

hi all, congrats on the scan crochet! I had nightmares of multiples too, it's funny how that becomes a more daunting prospect with subsequent pregnancies, isn't it?!

I am 24+1 now, so well over half way. Started leaking colostrum the other day, which is wierd! I started leaking at about 15 weeks with DS though, so this one has taken its time! hope it's a good sign though :)

AngelDog · 15/02/2012 18:26

Grin Hmm, Truth. But thank you. :)

AmeliaEarhart · 15/02/2012 22:31

Can I throw my hat in the ring? I've just found out I'm 5.5 weeks with number 2. I'm still feeding 15 MO DS 2-4 times a day, and would like to carry on for as long as I can. I'd initially hoped to feed him for at least 2 years, but this pregnancy wasn't exactly planned...

crochetcircle · 16/02/2012 14:51

congrats amelia on your pregnancy. hope you aren't feeling too exhausted.

littlepinkfizz · 16/02/2012 15:11

I thought you could not get pregnant while bf? I have still not had a period and have just completely weaned ds 12 mths on Sunday. Would have loved to fall pregnant already but no period yet. Then again he has only started sleeping through so exhaustion has been our contraceptive. I have noticed that whereas he used to be a terrible eater, he now can't be filled! Must have been all that lovely milk I was giving him! Enjoyed every second bf and now I miss that closeness! :-)

crochetcircle · 21/02/2012 15:07

hi littlepinkfizz

you definitely can get pregnant whilst breastfeeding, although I must admit I didn't realise that until my periods returned. Its different for everyone - my periods returned quickly despite breastfeeding on demand. But I have friends who stopped breastfeeding months ago and are still not having regular cycles again.

AngelDog · 24/02/2012 08:04

Hello, I'm back - a bit sooner than I expected. Can I join please?

I'm currently feeding DS who is 2.2. He is an enthusiastic feeder. :)

TruthSweet · 24/02/2012 09:03

Does that mean you are pg Angel? If you are fantastic news!!! If not I really hope you are soon.

AngelDog · 24/02/2012 14:05

I am indeed, Truth. We don't mess around here Grin (it was only the first cycle since TTC)

AngelDog · 24/02/2012 14:05

It's early days yet though - only got BFP yesterday.

TruthSweet · 24/02/2012 18:21

I am so pleased for you big Grin on my face Thanks for the mum to be

EauRouge · 24/02/2012 19:40

Oooh, congrats Angel, that's fab news. :)

AngelDog · 24/02/2012 21:26

Thanks! :)

AmeliaEarhart · 25/02/2012 23:17

Mazel tov, AngelDog! What lovely news :)

I'm 7 weeks today, and mighty glad I'm still feeding DS as he has a stomach bug and milk seems to be the only thing he can keep down. He fed 7 times today, which must be confusing for my poor boobs.

I've been wondering about when to wean him. It seems my 2 options are to do it in the next few months, so he'll have forgotten by the time the new baby arrives and won't be jealous, or to keep on and then tandem feed - eek! I know it can be done, but I just don't think I'm a strong enough woman. DS spent about 90% of his first 5 months of life latched on, and there's no way I could have coped with a toddler wanting a piece of the action too!

TruthSweet · 26/02/2012 13:26

Amelia - DD1 was the same (once she was off bottles at 8 weeks she could feed for 1h 45m every 2 hours!) but DD2 didn't feed anywhere as much.
In fact for the first 2 or so weeks DD1 stopped eating food (why eat when you can have Bah all day long? Hmm) and I fed DD1 & DD2 together and DD1 separately as DD1 was so bah obsessed - but it did wear off and she went back to feeding 4 times a day or so (she was 20m when DD2 was born)

When DD3 was born DD2 didn't do anything like DD1 did and just carried on having 3 or 4 feeds a day as though nothing had happened. DD2 was 22m when DD3 was born.

I don't know if DD2 will still be nursing when DC4 arrives (I doubt it as she is very much at the end of nursing) or even if DD3 will still be (though I hope she will be as she won't yet be 3 before the baby arrives). Nothing much I can do if she stops though Grin

AngelDog · 29/02/2012 14:28

My copy of Adventures in Tandem Nursing arrived today. :)

Whether I'll carry on feeding is questionable. I think DH would prefer me to stop - he's previously said 'we'll have to wean DS if you get pg', but he'll probably do whatever is the least hassle. At the moment, I do all night wakings which would be harder if I weren't bf'ing. And I do think DS needs it - he's much more fraught when he's not had the opportunity to feed.

KnockedUpMell · 29/02/2012 18:39

I've just got my BFP! DS is turning 1 in 2weeks, and we have been (sort of) trying for a few months. Had an early miscarriage last October, and now am definitely starting to feel pregnant! An early pg test (AF is due in 4 days) is definitely positive. We're so thrilled, had to tell someone otherwise I'd burst! Waiting till our first scan before we tell anyone :)

AngelDog · 29/02/2012 21:17

Ooh, congratulations, KnockedUP. Grin

We've not told anyone IRL yet either.

I've not had any symptoms really yet, other than needing to wee constantly, but that might just be coincidental. Wink

TruthSweet · 29/02/2012 21:35

Good name KnockedUpMell and congratulations or are you incognito on this thread?

I am terrible and told loads of people (never tell me a secret or expect me to lie - I can't lie to save my life or prevaricate) so I am dreading my 12w scan just in case there is something wrong (my meds give me ~7% chance of birth defects but my other DDs have been fine

jodidi · 02/03/2012 20:56

Can I come and join you ladies? I'm new and have just found out I am about 6 weeks pregnant with baby number 3. Dd1 was bf til 13 months. Dd2 is about to turn 2 and is still very much attached to booby.

jodidi · 02/03/2012 20:58

Can I come and join you ladies. I am about 6 weeks pregnant with baby number 3. Dd2 is about to turn 2 and is bf 2 or 3 times a day at the moment.

AngelDog · 02/03/2012 21:12

Congratulations and welcome, jodidi! :)

TruthSweet · 02/03/2012 21:27

Congratulations jodidi! 3 is a lovely number Smile

jodidi · 08/03/2012 22:18

Quick question to anyone in the know. Dd2 has spots on her face, nowhere else, she looks like a mini teenager. Is it possible that this is linked to changes with my hormones as I'm now pg? Or is it more likely to be something else (if so any ideas what)?

AngelDog · 09/03/2012 15:21

Eczema?

How is everyone doing?

I still have no symptoms which makes me a bit Confused - except for a sudden inability to nap Hmm (the opposite of what happened last time). I think I'm only about 6 weeks though. It feels like longer!

DS has had a bad cold, making it difficult for him to feed to sleep. It's been hideous and I'm dreading my milk supply going as I forsee sleep problems.

Truth, your scan must be due soon?
