Is there a breastfeeding while pregnant thread already?

If not would anyone like to join me?

Experienced and first time feeding while pregnant mums welcome. I'm almost 11 weeks with DC2 and am still feeding DS (15 months). We are currently working at night weaning him (although he is incredibly persistent) and he still feeds 3/4/5 time per day, although he is starting to eat more solids.

I don't know anyone in RL who has fed whilst pregnant or tandemed and it would be great to be able to share frustrations etc with others.

So please come and join me, or point me in the direction of the right thread

Hi all

Sorry you're so uncomfortable kveta I hope your DS decides to feed less tomorrow!

Pleased you had a good midwife app mbj fingers crossed for some movement from your Dd soon. Is there a full moon soon? There's an old wives tale that that brings on labour, so that could be something for you to aim for??

Hope everybody else is doing well. I'm making the most of having DH here this week. He's got a week off then he starts his new job hundreds of miles away, commuting Monday-Friday Sad
I will miss him when he's away and will miss having somebody to entertain Dd at the end of the day. I think we will need lots of 5pm visits to pets at home and tesco to keep her amused in 'the witching hour'.

Just dropping in to check on you MBJ. Anytime now :)

My mother (MW) would be making me walk, walk, walk! When my waters went with DS2 4 weeks early and I was trying to avoid induction (I did) I walked miles each day - not nice with heavily leaking waters and Tena pants!!! They are enough to put you off disposable nappies, I can tell you.

She also made me walk and walk and walk in labour, too, which was horrible but worked brilliantly.

Good luck :)

Question for you all - how did you/do you plan to manage your nursling while in labour???

TheRealMBJ · 25/10/2011 09:57

Hi all. Still here. 41 weeks today.

I have walked and walked and walked (and sexed and sexed and sexed Grin) and done all the ther old-wives things and she is clearly just not ready to arrive. Yet Smile

I am losing a lot of plug though, and she feels low, sonI think it is a matter of days but am getting very frustrated.

I am planning on continuing to feed DS here at home during the early phases of labour but I have a hospital birth planned, so will leave him at home (with my mum) when we go to the hospital. For me this is a good way to make sure I get some time alone with the new baby for skin-to-skin and working on latch and first feeds as I am sure DS is going to go nuts for boob as soon as he sees DD feeding.

organiccarrotcake · 25/10/2011 10:06

Loss of plug sounds really positive :)

How old is your DS?

TheRealMBJ · 25/10/2011 10:28

He's 22.5 months.

KD0706 · 25/10/2011 15:28

Hello.
Sounding positive mbj

organic I am planning a c section (would love natural birth but my DH, doctors and I all unfortunately think section best for baby). But if I was to have a natural birth I think I'd be following mbj's proposed plan. I know moon had a home birth. It I think her DS was out of the house for the actual birth.

Maybe pop into the tandem thread and ask over there what people did?

Hope everybody's well. I've just had an afternoon to myself, got my hair cut. Nice to have a couple of hours without a toddler climbing on me!!

organiccarrotcake · 25/10/2011 21:27

Yes, I'll do that, thanks :)

organiccarrotcake · 25/10/2011 21:31

Hmm, MBJ's plan wouldn't work for me as I'd plan to have my mum there, even if we have to transfer (planning a HB). MIL couldn't cope with him and no other family nearby although I suspect I could fob him off on a neighbour! I'm more worried about him needing boobies while I'm otherwise engaged :(

I suppose we've got loads of time to see how it goes though. It's just that he still "needs" his evening feeds, and sometimes a night feed. I'll not worry until we're a month or so away - he'll probably be fine by then anyway and if not we'll start to bring in other options that he'll have to get used to, bless him.

TheRealMBJ · 25/10/2011 22:11

KellyKettle on the tandem thread fed through active labour and her DD was present at the birth, so she might be able to help a bit.

FWIW though, DS was still on a mainly breast milk diet at the beginning of the year when I fell pregnant, as he wasn't yet that keen on solids and (if you ever have time to bother) go back you'll see I had a terrible time trying to night wean him as I couldn't stand it Blush. He is now still having a lot of boob. I honestly don't count so can't tell you how many times a day but is just getting small amounts of colostrum. And is no longer feeding at night (although he does still ask sometimes and not that it has changed his sleep for the better - we co-sleep still)

You might find that by the time it comes to labour his feeding pattern will be entirely different.

How old is your DS now?

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 26/10/2011 08:36

thinking of you mbj Smile

TheRealMBJ · 26/10/2011 08:43

Morning all? Think things are on Grin. Painful contractions since 6am. Not yet that regulator or quite a minute long yet.

KD0706 · 26/10/2011 08:50

Ooooh. Saw you'd posted and rushed to look mbj

Fingers crossed this is it.

LadyKatieJ · 26/10/2011 09:05

Awww I'm so excited for you MBJ I once heard that a Wine during early labour helped things along and helped with pain etc... maybe a bit early in the morning but hey.. if you fancy it?! Grin

Kveta · 26/10/2011 09:14

ooh, good luck MBJ! the 26th is a great day for a baby to arrive :o (DS finally put in his appearance on sep 26th 2 years ago - was due on 20th!)

hope it all goes well!

tinky19 · 26/10/2011 10:12

ooh good luck MBJ so exciting. I'm planning on a Wine when labour starts this time Ladykatie

My DS seems to have gone into over drive for boob st the moment. Can't keep him off me! I was expecting him to go off it as the colostrum came in not want more (I'm assuming milk has changed at 34 + 3 weeks). Nipples can't handle much more.
DH keeps telling me I'm storing up problems re jelously and practicalities of having two babies wanting to feed all the time. Sad I'm a bit worried but it's too late to ween now.

EauRouge · 26/10/2011 10:23

Good luck MBJ! Let's hope you're cuddling your baby by this afternoon.

TheRealMBJ · 26/10/2011 10:59

Thank you all. It's a. Slow start tbh. Not that regular yet but definitely painful.

tinky from what I've read a lot of mums have found that tandem feeding actually helps with jealousy and sibling rivalry.

tinky19 · 26/10/2011 16:38

Thanks MBJ that's what I keep telling myself (and him).
Hope things are moving a bit quicker now. Good luck. [hsmile]

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 26/10/2011 20:52

ooh, hope things are going well mbj!

Tinky 2 babies are ok with 2 boobs! Grin With 2 lo's there will always be times when their needs clash. So far (3 wks) we've had two tricky evening feeding senarios that have been hard. Mostly it has been great, with some really touching moments that have melted my heart. It's lovely to see ds show his affection for dd by insisting she go on the other boob. Smile

TheRealMBJ · 26/10/2011 22:25

She's here. 7lb14 born at 18H47 after only 1hr47minutes of active labour. Arrived at the hospital pushing. Grin

Will post a full update ASaP in the following few days.

AngelDog · 26/10/2011 22:28

Ooh, congratulations, MBJ! :) :) Sounds eventful - I look forward to hearing the whole story.

Thanks for you.

KD0706 · 26/10/2011 23:11

Congratulations mbj
You certainly stayed at home for as long as possible then Grin

Hope you enjoy the first few days with your wee one, and look forward to hearing your story in due course.

organiccarrotcake · 26/10/2011 23:36

Hurray! Well done and congratulations!!! Grin
