Was just mourning the absecence of Primark whrn Roo mentioned Matalan, havent been there yet for nighties.

If you have a home bargains near you they have cot sheets/blankets and other baby stuff really cheap and not bad. They also had giant knickers for post c-section!

Cheap nighties - Sainsburys has 25% off all clothing til Monday. Got a pair of ballerina slippers in blue for £3 less 25%. Woo hoo! Didn't get any nighties as I have lots of stuff from the previous three births. Don't forget your dark coloured towels for your post birth shower/bath.

Just been to midwife. Blood pressure top line up a bit (was 140/70) but I am shattered and have a cold and am a bit hot (and I have spd, piles, varicose veins, cankles, fat fingers and a double chin but hey, who's complaining?)and no problems with urine sample so all fine really. Got my fit to fly letter. Better start packing all the crap I got. Still need to order to Amby - going for the raw cotton I think.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 26/08/2010 16:49

Oooh ooh, the other October 2010 group have started a post-natal thread (or was it us and I'm confused?). Should we go over to that one when we have finally managed to have these babies? We can start another one on here to see us through to then.

AbFabT · 26/08/2010 17:10

Enjoy your Amby natural when you get it, ILGH - snap! :)

Have the other October group already started popping? I am happy to be one big happy family for PN, makes more sense than having two groups.

But yes, we need another AN thread until then, don't we! And fast!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 26/08/2010 17:16

AbFab, where did you get the amby and did you get any accessories - eg the snuggler and the net?

Hermya321 · 26/08/2010 17:38

ILGH That outfit is brilliant!!! I love it.

Nymph Sorry about the Camerons taking your name, could you still use it? I didn't realise that it took that long for you to be seen, thats so crap!!

Oh my gosh, the other group have started popping? I wonder who'll be the first off of here?

My neighbours have been painting today, my entire place smells of paint and its making me feel really ill. Luckily we're out for the evening, so I'm hoping it'll have eased off by the time we get back home.

AbFabT · 26/08/2010 17:52

ILGH, MIL got it from from a little independent baby shop near where they live in Scotland. Didn't bother with the snuggler as I already have one with the bed-share nest thing we bought (are mainly aiming to co-sleep - the hammock is for baby naps in the day if I am not sleeping too, or general backup if we are overtired and don't fancy the co-sleeping). Did get sheets though. I think it was £150 all in. What net? Like a mosquito net? If so, er, no! Don't think so. Hm, may have to investigate! We are up there this weekend so can check. We have the frame assembled, but left the fabric wrapped so as to keep it clean and dust-free for as long as possible!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 26/08/2010 17:59

Just bought the Amby Nest on Kiddicare. They price matched it for me so got the nest, sheets and snuggler down to £180 plus a bit of change. Had to buy the net (yes, a mossie net) elsewhere but managed to get it for £12. We'll need it it Bahrain plus we have Samwise the cat to deal with. I just have to hope it comes in time as I forgot about the bank holiday.

Nymph I think the same as others, people will forget the Cameron's baby name. And Florence is so sweet.

Okay, so name suggestions for the new thread anyone?

10/10 babies, ready steady go..

Or something Grin. I have noooo imagination and the creativity of a plank.

Hermya321 · 26/08/2010 18:01

Ssssooooooo what are we going to call the new thread as we've only got about a hundred messages left in this one?

We could do an pumpkin themed one like 10/10 Babies - Welcome to the Pumpkin Patch or something like 10/10 Babies - Hold Tight they're on their way!!

Anyway thats my burst of inspiration for the evening.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 26/08/2010 18:08

Oooh, I like "welcome to the pumpkin patch"

nymphadora · 26/08/2010 18:42

I like the second one.

Seem to have new craving- ice! Finished one bag & just sent dh for more Blush my freezing can't keep up with me!

Btw are any of you on my twitter? I'm not sure who most of the people are I'm talking to on there apart from they are MNers

moonstorm · 26/08/2010 20:49

Hello everyone!

Sorry if I miss anyone! I can?t keep up!!

Elsa I have loads of stretch marks. They didn?t appear until after my pregnancy last time, but now all thise ones have reappeared. I am mixed between them being my ?badge of honour? after pregnancy and worrying that there are rather a lot?

Floozietoozie I am packing 4/5 vests/ babygros just in the case of needing to stay in a bit longer and dh not having time to get more in to me. I hope I won?t need more!

ILGH I like the pumpkin vest!

Jessebelle we are really proud of ds?s Norwegian. We have had problems with dialects on tv/ radio, though. Dh has quite a strong Bergen dialect and obviously then so does ds, but when we have bought cds etc. for him to listen to at night time, they often have an eastern dialect, which ds finds harder to understand. He is getting better at understading, but they are not quite the help I had hoped they would be.

I like the hugs and kisses, too. Glad we are liking them on here as well. Xxx Glad it?s not all like AIBU!!

I have been trying to ignore the full moon! Ds was born just after the full moon. I am glad the next one falls into a safer gestation this time!!

I like the thread title 10/10 babies ? ready steady go!

Nymphadora I don?t want to worry you, but I thought I?d mention that my friend had an ice craving and it turned out to be an iron deficiency. I hope you don?t mind be mentioning, but I?d rather say. It?s probably nothing, though.

It was my turn today to be hooked up to monitors. I haven?t felt as much movement as normal, but all seemed to be fine. I?m 33 weeks today, so it?s all getting nearer?I had been given some antibiotics which were making me feel really ill, but the registrar was really dismissive of them and saying no wonder I was struggling with thrush and took them off me! Hope it?s not too bad not to be allowed to complete a course, but I have to say I am really feeling glad not to take any more. Hope the thrush goes now!!

Phew a long post!!

xx

nymphadora · 26/08/2010 21:42

I know I'm ok with iron! Taking tablets after needing transfusion last time & had bloods last week & better than it's ever been! Ta for mentioning it though it's one of those weird things!

OP posts:
moonstorm · 26/08/2010 21:52

nymph that's good! Enjoy the ice!!!! Glad you didn't mind me mentioning Smile

lilmissmummy · 26/08/2010 21:54

I cant believe they have started popping already, that is so scary!

What about 10/10 babies - Our Pumpkin Pies are cooked.

or something along those lines? I like the pumpkin idea as it will be nearly Halloween.

My stretch marks are not too bad at the moment! But I do feel like I cant stretch anymore.

Florence is a beautiful name so I think you should go with it Nymph, it was my Grandma's name so I maybe very a bit biased! Unless they will go to school together.

I agree with the 4/5 babygro's/ vests in hospital after all dh/dp can always bring more. Then just a going home outfit.

I need to get a snowsuit/pramsuit any recommendations? I am having a little girl but dont think I want pink. Maybe Lilac or Cream or White or something?!

xx

floozietoozie · 26/08/2010 22:16

Hi guys

Thanks for the scan good wishes. I had not one scan but two today. The first was your regular over the belly one. Baby growing fine (still measuring nearly three weeks ahead!) and cyst behaving itself and not growing so that's good. The second was to measure my cervical length (if it shortens too much, it can be an indicator of labour approaching), so for that one I was on the dildo cam Grin. They did do a CL from an external scan last time after I asked about it, and while they're not that accurate done that way, that one came out at about 6.5cm iirc. However today's was 3.5cm, so I was a bit concerned. When I saw the doctor after (it wasn't my great consultant but one of her flunkies, which I was a bit disappointed about, although she did go off to consult with the consultant about everything) she said it was only if the length was 3cm or under they got worried, and that was also for 28 weeks rather than 31, which I am tomorrow. So no steroids needed for me. But because the baby is continuing to grow "ahead of time" and is on the top growth line, I've also got to have a glucose tolerance test just to make sure I don't have gestational diabetes. The other thing was my platelet count was a bit lower when I had my blood done last time, and I'm at the low end of normal anyway, so they want me to have a full blood count done again before my next scan and consultant appointment in three weeks. Apparently if it drops again, it could mean I'd be more prone to bleeding during or after labour, and apparently the mother's low platelet count can affect the baby's. That isn't the case with me at the moment. So fingers crossed it doesn't drop any more. She did say it was normal for it to go down in pregnancy. It has made me think though that maybe given everything I should abandon the idea of a home birth if I get to term, and just go with the MLU instead. I'll have to see how it pans out.

This post is coming to you as I balance on my birthing ball by the way - I finally got one in Tesco last week. Stupidly, I didn't check the size assuming they are all the same, and I think I should have got a bigger one as I'm quite low on it.

Shieldbug - if you ended up having to stay in for a few days, you could easily get through 10 babygros! Meconium one end, vomit the other.... hope your washing machine is prepared! On the white goods front, Sam12 and RooBear we had a new, bigger fridgefreezer delivered last week. It's fab. Our old one was a slimline because that's all that fitted in our old kitchen. Also managed to sell the old one really quickly too. And I have done a deal with DP to get him to agree to have a tumble dryer, thank the lord. I compromised on something I didn't want in exchange. Could really do with having it tonight as I've already hung out two loads of washing around the house and have a third in the machine as I type, because, we're going away tomorrow after a last minute booking today. I've got the heating on trying to dry it - it's really got cooler, hasn't it? My mum and my niece are going to come with us too. The forecast is good (they'd better have got it right!) and I'm hoping it will take my mind off next week. We're away until Tuesday morning... yes, it's that morning, the one I am so desperate to get past. I will be taking my notes with me like Dontstopmenow, just in case...

Thanks for the nighties tips.

Who was asking about stretchmarks? I had them on my thighs and bum pre-pregnancy but none on my stomach so I'll have to see what happens from here on in. No more new ones so far as far as I know - the ones on my thighs have quietly multiplied over the years, since I started stretching at about 11.

Depending on what the reception is like on my phone where we are staying, I may not be in touch until next week. Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend, as pain-free and sleep-filled as possible for those in need of it. xxx

Hermya321 · 26/08/2010 22:18

Lilmiss We were thinking of getting something along these lines. I don't know how good they are though. We're also going to get a cosy toes for the car seat that we can zip on and off.

AbFabT · 26/08/2010 22:40

Hope your Amby arrives in good time, ILGH.

I prefer the thread title 10/10 babies ? ready steady go! rather than the pumpkin titles; I'm the start of October so quite a way off from Hallowe'en, and Hallowe'en means nothing to me anyway.

Or 10/10 ... 9, 8, 7 - It's The Final Countdown!

Tyson86 · 26/08/2010 22:54

Moonstorm Glad your monitoring ended well, i went through not feeling much movement and being monitored a couple of weeks ago and it is abit scary.

Floozie I have a feeling i may of made the same mistake regarding the birthing ball. :)

BionicEar · 26/08/2010 23:51

Hello ladies,

Can't believe we're almost there with our pumpkins pies being cooked!

Haven't been on much lately as been away or too tired to log on - got to coo over new baby niece and 2 friends babies in last 2 weeks - although got a little scared by the baby that had colic as it made me think"Ekkk what if mine like that?!!"

Wriggly Bump been throwing self round a lot and it very painful at times - have had bruises come through every now and again - that's how strong he is!

Am experiencing a wee bit of SPD when walking for length of time and tummy often quite sore low down. MW has referred me to Physio but no appointment has come through yet.

Having slight panic whether we'll have everything ready in time for the baby arrival as upstairs is a bit upside down as we're redecorating our bedroom, but am sure it'll be fine... gulp!

Must sort bag for hospital - will probably just take old nightie to give birth in as that what I did with DD. Will take a few items of clothing for baby in case stay more than one night, as stayed in for a few days after having DD.

Know that I'm sorted for meals the 1st week after having baby as the church I go to, they do a sorta "Angels service" where peep are on a rota to help out others as needed and one of the things they do is provide meals for mummies knowing that the daddies aren't always that fab at cooking! So that comforting, particularly as my DH is not confident in the kitchen. Friends have also said they will make food if I need it for longer - lovely peeps that they are.

2 of my lovely friends have organised a baby shower for me which will happen in couple of weeks. Am looking forward to it but don't know what to expect as they won't tell me what we'll do and I've no idea as never been to a baby shower before.

Anyway I should go as I'm shattered and it's late and I need my bed. Anyone else up and down in the night? Can't recall the last time I slept through the night... ah well good practice for when Wriggly Bump arrives I suppose!

Hermya321 · 27/08/2010 07:28

Ooooo Abfab I like the 10/10...9, 8, 7 It's the final countdown. Thats quite cool, I vote for that one!!

Bionic He's actually given you bruises, thats madness. They never tell you these things before you get pregnant do they.

Morning ladies!! I hope all is well in bumpland this morning!!

nymphadora · 27/08/2010 07:53

I like that too Hermya

Glad to see no middle of the night posts.I slept ok too. Was sore before bed but it didnt wake me up. Off to GP this morning so will ask for new referral.

BTW I have been & lurked on the other Oct thread & they havent started popping yet, just moved in preparation, so nothing to worry about there!

OP posts:
ILoveGregoryHouse · 27/08/2010 08:10

A vote for 10/10..9876 from me.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 27/08/2010 08:14

nymph I did a garage clear out and actually there are two pairs of elbow crutches there. If you are desperate, I can send you a set.

RooBear · 27/08/2010 09:25

Morning, I'm on both Oct threads and no one has popped yet! it was just decided to start the next one in there as it won't be long!
