Shieldbug & Elsa Thinking about DH's and their worries, my DH is terrified of my belly button. It does protrude a lot and does pop in and out when I cough, get up or laugh. I think it's really funny but he can't look at it and considers it something that should not be talked of! He is totally freaked out by it Grin.

Thanks for the concern Shieldbug. I think I am most worried because it is about where the placenta is. I don't feel a lot of kicking there because the baby kicks against it rather than me.

piesey · 16/08/2010 10:57

Morning all

elsa glad the growth scan was all ok and hope you are feeling better now. My DH is a little bit freaked out by the baby moving in my tummy too, but got excited yesterday because he started talking to my bumb and baby started kicking so he's very proud now and is telling people the baby recognises his voice!

ILGH congrats on your nephew! Noah is a lovely name.

Shieldbug I'm jealous about your holiday in the south of Ireland - I love it there! My DH is from the north which is also gorgeous (I love the gian't causeway and the north Antrim coast), but my PIL live there which is a big disadvantage!

Just had a sofa delived now so we can move the TV out of the bedroom and start using the living room which is nice. Finally feel like we are getting a bit more sorted!

Now going to look at some baby tings on the John Lewis website.....

shieldbug · 16/08/2010 11:16

piesey dh is from the north too (that's where we live now) and I agree with you about the coast there. It's a fantastic place to take visitors too. Glad things are getting more sorted in your house.

sam your dh sounds funny! I was scared by the thought that my inny might completely pop out so that my insides were my outsides iyswim, but thankfully it got so far then stopped. My mum thinks I'm bonkers for stressing about such things!
When is your appt btw?

sam12 · 16/08/2010 11:29

Congrats on your nephew ILGH I love the name Noah- I spent a lot of time trying to persuade DH to use that name for ours.

Samantha really hope that the mw appointment goes ok- I am sure you will be fine.

Just been to see mw and all is well Smile I have pulled a muscle in my back but she says there is nothing that can be done.

The plasterer starts today which means we are finally putting the house back together and it might be less like a building site soon. I am really starting to panic that we won't be in before the bump arrives.

Hope that everyone else is well- I can't believe how fast the time is going

DillyDora · 16/08/2010 12:11

Hi All,

Congrats on the new nephew ILGH

samb123 sounds like rib flare to me - your ribs moving apart as the bub takes up more space. There are exercises you can do to help a bit I think - stretches and so on.

Back in work today after a week 'off' i.e. socialising too much and getting worn out. I don't really like being at work, I've decided it all seems a bit...pointy... I'd like to go home thanks Wink but I have to stay here till October!

Bump seems to have suddenly got bigger or moved or something - I think he's getting organised to start getting head down as I'm really breathless and can't bend over (or do up my shoes!!!)

My belly button is hideous Sam it looks like another body part I won't mention here...ahem...

shieldbug · 16/08/2010 12:42

dilly I'm definitely finding it hard to bend now. Dh had to help me put my socks on the other day! As for doing my bikini line for the holiday, well, it was manoeuvers in the dark, iykwim! Can't see a thing! Oh yes, I'm getting breathless too- apparently it's to do with your diaphragm being squished into your lungs...nice!

DillyDora · 16/08/2010 12:44

LOl at your bikini line Shieldbug that could have ended badly! I'm getting it all done at a salon next week, and a pedicure for that ruddy wedding, I think I'd pass out if I tried to paint my toenails.

jessebelle · 16/08/2010 13:40

Hello!

I'm a very late addition to this thread I know - but I was hoping nobody would mind if I joined in? I've been lurking for far too long but every time I get to the end of the messages (which I usually read at work) I have so much to say that I can't even start a post - thinking I'll do it at home - and then never get around to it... But I feel like I know you all already even if you guys have never heard from me before!

Vital stats are:
jessebelle, PG#2, Age 38, EDD 08/10

I'm feeling & looking enormous & the baby is just soooo active it's incredible (much more so than I remember #1). Constant digs & kicks & hiccups and whatnot. Especially when I'm sitting still at work which makes concentrating a real problem!

Had a horrible crash EMC first time around and really want and am planning for a VBAC this time (vaginal birth after caesarean) but we'll see. I've got a scan on Thursday due to low placenta so I might not have much choice in the matter...

Anyway - hope I can join in so late in the day - I've posted tons of posts in my head but I thought it high time I did a real one!

jessebelle xx

shieldbug · 16/08/2010 13:47

welcome jessebelle! Great to hear from you. I find sproglet kicks more when I'm trying to concentrate too. Reckon they know when it's going to have maximum impact! Hope your plans for a vbac are successful. Good luck with the scan on Thurs.

SamanthaB123 · 16/08/2010 14:55

In hospital at the moment. May have problem with cyst. Feeling quite sad Sad. Will report back later, SB

RooBear · 16/08/2010 15:02

Thanks for all the advice ladies, work have turned out to be very reasonable. I?m going to finish on Friday! Tomorrow is my last long day and then I?ve got some half days and lunch meetings which I think I can manage.
I seems so strange as I?ve never not worked before, I?m going to do lots of relaxing and get all Harry?s clothes washed (there?s a lot). Grin

Sam Thinking of you, hope everything is ok.

Roo Happy Birthday for tomorrow!

Jessebelle Nice to ?meet? you, welcome to the thread. Good luck with the scan.

Nymph Glad to hear you've done.....moan away. Wink

tiredfeet · 16/08/2010 16:22

welcome jessebelle of course you can join! good luck for the scan on Thursday

samb I'm sorry about that, I will be thinking of you and sending lots of good wishes your way.

welcome back roo, where did you go on your hols (apologies if you've already said!), hope you had a lovely time?

sheildbug your holiday sounds lovely, I visited Ireland for the first time recently and loved it, definitely planning to go back.

glad (in a strange way) to see I'm not the only one struggling with putting on socks now. I can still manage but it has got to the point where I definitely prefer it when DH is around and can put them on for me!

its boiling down here, just been for a walk and I'm near melting point now. Still its lovely to have a big of summery weather back for a change

tiredfeet · 16/08/2010 16:25

and glad you hear you're finished nymph Smile

and so pleased you could sort things out with work to finish early vikks. I've got one full day left and a few half days, and then I'm done too. I'm already only working part time though but have managed to fill my days quite well so don't really get bored, and its great having the time to exercise and relax

Hermya321 · 16/08/2010 16:25

Afternoon all, I hope we're all doing well in bumpland!!

Jessebelle Hello there and welcome to the thread!

Sam Hope you get sorted out soon.

Nymph Enjoy your time off, sorry about the damaged car as well.

nymphadora · 16/08/2010 17:46

Sam thinking of you, hope everythng s ok x

Jesse Hello, we have the same due date!

I am really bored now and just wanting to meet Sophie, it has been far too long since my last scan!

AbFabT · 16/08/2010 20:39

Welcome, jessebelle! :) Hope you manage to get your VBAC.
Jealous you are getting baby hiccups - I don't think I've had any yet, and I'm a few days ahead of you, dates wise.
Do add yourself to the stats! (Link at top of thread).

SB, hope the cyst behaves.

Roo, Happy Birthday! :) Enjoy the cake!

Also an effort with socks for me! Best bet is laying on the bed and putting them on that way. Same for trousers. :)

No news here. Back on my research-a-carseat mission, wow, there's a lot to choose from. Aargh!

Seven weeks til my due date, it's going so fast!

Hospital bag is mostly packed! Haven't washed the baby clothes yet - figured I've got a bit of time for that yet.

Hermya321 · 17/08/2010 07:39

Good morning lovely ladies!!!

Hope all is well with everyone this morning Smile

Roo Happy Birthday (it is today isn't it?)

Abfab Wow thats very organized, I'm planning on a trip to primark and boots in the next few weeks to get stuff for my hospital bag and I'll just chuck it all in and hope for the best.

I'm finding it hard to work up the motivation to drag myself into work. Thing is I don't the excuse 'I'm fat and cumbersome' would really cut the mustard with them Grin.

Is anyone else getting insomia? I find myself waking up at all hours at the moment and just lying there staring at the wall, it's not that interesting. Maybe I should get some interesting pictures for me to stare at.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 17/08/2010 08:38

Welcome Jesse.

Hope everything is okay SamB

Went to see new nephew yesterday. He is yummy. And so small!! I always forget.

Off to Chelmsford this morning with DH to get a consult for him on laser eye surgery. He's sick of contacts and glasses. Anyone had it done?

I've been aving lots of fun shopping for baby girl clothes. Nothing else as we've we've get every other thing imaginable. Just need to get some girly reusable nappies and a grobag.

Oh lordy, better go, here come DS1 and 2.

nymphadora · 17/08/2010 09:33

Exhausted again this morning. Just put both dds (8&10) on the naughty step for squabbling. Not just cos of my short fuse but they were 2 floors above me & I could hear dd1 screeching and had to go up before they came to blows.

jessebelle · 17/08/2010 10:11

Hia again!

Thanks for welcoming me to the thread - feels nice!

Got my only 'course' I'm booked into for parenting tonight (was thinking of the NCT refresher course but it just cost too much!) - and partner can't come as he's away working... really think it's HE who should be 'refreshed' as I've been thinking about it for 7 months or something and I don't think he's really got it into his head properly yet that we'll have a newborn soon!

samb hope things are better today?

tyson coooel! :-)

AbFab my firstborn (who is a 4.5 year old girl now!) hiccupped like crazy and this one isn't quite as bad. It's different from feeling kicks as it's really rhythmical and softer - only lasts a little while though. This one kicks & pushes more though - as if it wants to get out already!

Ilovegregoryhouse Didn't find out the sex of the baby as I'd like the surprise at the end - but at the same time I'm wondering if I did the right thing - whether my DD should know (she's convinced it's a boy) and I'd also be able to indulge in some serious shopping having recently started sneaking looks at baby clothes. On second thoughts, with our budget this time around, probably just as well we'll have to stick with all the stuff in the loft from last time around :-)

Sorry about the verbal diarrhoea - as I say I've been posting stuff in my head so probably trying to catch up!

DillyDora · 17/08/2010 10:32

Mooorning

Nymph there are loads of guest houses in Stratford - let me just check you mean Stratford on Avon not Stratford London and I will contact a friend who's Mum's friend runs a nice place....

Hi Jesse!

Who bought the preloved nappies? Was it you Hermya? I am still trying to decide what to get.... driving myself mad.

SamB whassup with that cyst?

Happy Birthday Roo (passes over a bit of cake)

Very Envy about all you girlies finishing work soon! I have at least set out all the tasks I want to get done before I go, there's so much to do!
