I wouldn't have gone much longer being unable to get upstairs to my office! Also since I was off sick I've been on light duties and not had much to do so not being a lot of use really!

SamanthaB Yeah we?ve got to go for a growth scan and other tests? I think they need to rule out gestational diabetes, I?m worried, but they assured me Harry is ok.
I like the ?Sola? you went for, we?ve bought the Urbo with all the extras, black too. We picked it months ago and I didn?t realise when I ordered it that it would take so long. If Harry?s early I?m gonna need that car seat!
Jennimoo How did you find the classes? Did you get on well with the others?
Hermya I?m loving the cake idea, I?m hungry all the time!Grin

SamanthaB123 · 13/08/2010 15:37

Vikks We really nearly bought an urbo, I liked it a lot. The car seat will be available now if you are early, it's the same as ours which came this week. It looks really comfy Smile. It's difficult not to worry, as long as they are monitoring Harry you can be sure that he's ok. I doubt you'll be allowed to go overdue though...you might have a baby sooner than you thought!

nymphadora · 13/08/2010 16:46

Is anyone else far too hot? Dh is following me round the house shutting windows & doors. Im taking clothes off & he is now on his 3rd layer. I've now kicked him out so I can put a fan on.

vikks - I found the classes great for asking questions and feeling empowered to say what I want, but I didn't learn that much cos I read books and mumsnet too much already! The people seem nice though and I think we'll stay in touch.

I'm always warm at the moment. I can't normally sleep without at least a sheet over me, but I just kick it off now. And I haven't worn a cardigan or jumper that comes past me elbows for months, but normally I like to have my wrists covered as a comfort thing.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 13/08/2010 18:44

Hi All, not been on for ages. My sil is in labour right now. Contractions three minutes apart. She was induced two weeks early due to high blood pressure.

Hope I'll have some good news by tomorrow morning!

Hermya321 · 13/08/2010 18:57

Nymph funny you should say that, but I found myself sweltering the other day in the office. Everyone else had all their layers on.

ILGH How exciting!!

I went to a friends house this afternoon and I ended up sat in a room with three other pregnant women and a Mum with twins and a little girl.

Apart from being rather impressed at the Mum of the very wriggly into EVERYTHING twins, I had the thought that I've never been in a room with that many pregnant people before. It felt very odd as we all sat there discussing prams and what not. Any others had that weird random moment where you think 'how did it become normal for me to be talking about the colour of a Quinny and getting excited??'.

nymphadora · 13/08/2010 20:24

ilgh v exciting! Friend die in 2 weeks & I'm getting excited!

Also I'm reaching the heart burn/indigestion/reflux stage too :(

Evening all- very exciting ILGH!

Nymph I've been getting night sweats- so lovely and acid reflux- another joy.

My midwife sent a fax to the JR at Oxford today asking for me to have a growth scan and they rang me this morning with an appointment for 1245! Needless to say I worked like an absolute loony for the next hour to get everything done prior to going on leave for a week and I left work at 1120, raced home, picked up my DH who raced over from London and we high tailed it to Oxford. The sonographer was incredibly strange and somewhat lacking in bedside manner but that didn't matter because everything was fine!!!! Blood flow is good, good pockets of amniotic fluid and one small but within normal range baby! They reckon it weighs approx 3lbs 2 oz.

Thank you all for your supportive messages- you were right. x x x x x

nymphadora · 13/08/2010 21:44

That's good service & good everything was ok too!

tiredfeet · 14/08/2010 10:24

hi elsa glad all was ok, thats brilliant, you must feel so relieved! How great that they were able to fit the scan in so soon so that you didn't have to spend too long worrying Smile

ILGH How exciting!!

I had an interesting day yesterday. Baby had been much quieter than normal for about 24 hours. We had got it to dance the night before by me drinking an icy drink, but otherwise it was only giving a gentle nudge every now and then. We called up the hospital and they were so nice and said come straight in for monitoring. Luckily everything was fine and baby starting properly dancing away because it didn't like the monitors, so it was a big relief. I just wanted to say though because they were very clear that if you are at all worried at any point, if things are different than normal for your baby, then they are so happy to have you in for monitoring. I still had the 10 movements that they say are the minimum during the 24 hous, but normal mine does about 10 big movements in about 10 minutes, so it was unusually quiet for me. Clearly it was just having a lazy day though Grin

right better go dig out my waterproofs and wellies, we're going to be brave and still go camping eeek!

have lovely weekends everyone

ILoveGregoryHouse · 14/08/2010 10:27

Hi.

Baby Noah was born this morning at 1.46 and weighed 7lbs 2oz. EMCS in the end but all is well. Hope we'll get to see him soon - he looks like my DS3.

I've been getting night sweats, reflux, hip pain. Sleep is just miserable for me at the moment. And it won't get any better when she's here lol!

Elsa123 · 14/08/2010 11:23

Congratulations to your SIL ILGH! I'm glad everything went alright in the end.

Tiredfeet that must have been a relief for you, I'm glad the hospital were so accommodating.

floozietoozie · 14/08/2010 11:28

Hi all

have been reading but too tired to post all week. Congrats on your nephew ILGH. Since I hit the third trimester last week my sleep seems to have gone to pot too, twitchy legs and insomnia and of course the toilet trips, coupled with ds not sleeping well at all. He keeps waking up saying he's had a bad dream once or twice a night, and he's also gone back to getting hysterical if left to go to sleep himself at bedtime, which eats into my relaxing time then. I don't know if it's because of the toilet training, just a developmental stage or something to do with the baby coming. Having the baby's not going to be too much of a shock in sleep deprivation terms if this carries on. Sad

on a brighter note, I went to visit my friend's newborn, three weeks, on Thursday and had a lovely long cuddle with him. Ds was pretty good about it as I did hold the baby for well over half an hour, but I can see a sling for round the house is going to be essential so my hands are free for the times the baby isn't in the Moses basket.

Glad the ante natal classes are going well for people. Next week I need to book the nhs ones I want to do. I have the nct refresher on 10 Sept.

Hermya321 · 14/08/2010 12:00

Congratulations on your new newphew ILGH.

Tired Glad that everything was ok.

Floozie I'm sorry you're not sleeping well.

On a lighter more baby brained note, I tried to use bodywash as conditioner this morning on my hair. I stared at the bottle for quite some time wondering why it looked different before I realised. Blush

Tyson86 · 14/08/2010 22:26

ILGH congrats on the arrival of your nephew. I love the name Noah!

SamanthaB123 · 15/08/2010 17:47

Ooh we are all quiet today Smile, hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

ILGH Congratulations, Noah was one of our boys names should we have had one...maybe next time!

Elsa I'm really glad that your scan was quick and the news was good. That's fab!

Vikks · 15/08/2010 20:21

ILGH Congratulations on the birth of your nephew!

Elsa Great news about your growth scan, you must be so relieved. I?ve got a week to wait before I find out how big Harry is. I?m sure he?s healthy, he lets me know by kicking and poking me all the time. I am starting to think he might be here a lot soon than we were thinking!

Tiredfeet You sound like you?ve got a great hospital there, it?s feels great knowing you?re getting to best care. Hopeful you won?t have anymore scares like that.

I emailed my boss yesterday saying that I would like to finish work earlier than I said. My mum and DH have convinced me that it?s time to stop killing myself for no recognition and think about Harry and me for a change. I was gonna finish in a few weeks anyway because I?ve got a nice lot of holidays due. It?s a pretty physically demanding job and I?ve been coming home for weeks and just falling asleep, plus my blood pressure is still high. Anyway I?ve explained all that to my boss and I?m still waiting for my reply???.I?m not sure what she?ll say. Hmm FX

floozietoozie · 15/08/2010 21:38

Vikks, if your blood pressure is high, your work cannot make a fuss about you wanting to finish earlier. Legally they have a duty of care towards you, at all times, but doubly so when pregnant. Your DH and mum are very wise. A few weeks to your work will make no difference, but it could make a lifetime of difference to you if you suffer pregnancy complications because of it. I don't wish to alarm you, but after my own experience I wonder if my constantly changing early and late shifts, particularly when i was suffering terrible insomnia, had any sort of impact on the timing of DS's birth. Take care of you and the LO first. x

Hermya321 · 16/08/2010 07:34

Vikks You can go and get a fit note from the Doctor who can recomend that you finish earlier in order to minimize the impact on your health.

nymphadora · 16/08/2010 07:56

Vikks-your boss shouldn't be able to object really as it's either that or you off sick.

I'm exhausted today was up 8 times in the night. Each time baby was moving so I think that's what woke me! Working this morning then out for lunch then finished. V glad. Also dh car had window smashed at weekend so would have been awkward with me and dh at work

Hello all! Back from relaxing hols in the south of Ireland. Weather was lovely and the sea cold! We spent ots of time on the beach (dh bodyboarded and I went birdwatching) and it was fabulous.

I've managed to catch up with all of yor posts, but it took ages! I wrote a reply yesterday then somehow lost internet access in the middle of it, which was really annoying.

ILGH congratulations on a new nephew. Noah is a great name too. Hope you slept better last night, and floozie too.

Vikks Sounds like you are making a sensible decision. As others have said, put your wellbeing first and that of Harry.

nymph Hope your last morning goes well and then you can have a well-deserved rest.

So impressed with all of your purchases, ladies! Our only purchases remain some disposable newborn nappies (I think this will be easier for the first few days) and we only bought them because there was a freebie attached! This week has been designated as buggy buying week, so I'll keep you posted.

SamanthaB123 · 16/08/2010 09:40

Morning everyone Smile,

Congratulations Nymph - your last day, sorry about DH car though.

Welcome back Shieldbug - DH is Irish and we spend most of our holidays in or around the Dublin suburbs. It's lovely. Sounds like you had a restful time too.

Vikks Towards the end of last term it was really hot and I was working really hard. I was so tired and stressed and uncomfortable. In the end I made a conscious effort to do less. I had to stop saying yes, be more realistic and put myself and the baby first. I found it really hard to start with, I even had a few days off school. In the end I did feel much better for it. When I go back in September if it's too much I am just going to either be sick or start maternity leave. It's not worth it. If you are unwell or tired or stressed it won't be good for your baby so stopping work is the best idea. Sorry I wrote a lot there...

I'm not having a great time here...I have been experiencing pain at the top of my bump on the left hand side. It hurts virtually all of the time and feels a little like a burning feeling and a little like I want to itch it. Itching doesn't help though as the itch seems to be under the skin? I have read about serious issues associated with pain on the right side at the top but can't find anything about the left side. It also hurts in my back behind where the pain is - at the bottom of my ribcage. I can't sit at all really and standing hurts too. There are some positions that I can get into lying down but after a while it become painful. My sleep is really disrupted and I am waking up because of the pain frequently. I called the midwife and am off to see her later this morning. It didn't help my peace of mind that the baby was quite quiet yesterday. She was wide awake last night between 3 and 5 am though - I was very reassured and not remotely bothered that I was awake for ages - it was such a relief! I am hoping it is either a rib problem that can be treated by an oesteopath or the baby in an awkward position. I feel pretty worried though and and am miserable because I can't really 'do' anything.

Sorry, that was a bit long and all about me...

shieldbug · 16/08/2010 09:59

samB123 Hope all is well at your mw appt and that they can help you with the pain. Sounds like you are having it tough- lots of sympathy. Hopefully if your baby is still active that's a good sign and you've maybe just pulled something or had something kicked hard. Good luck and let us know how it went.

elsa I've been thinking about your dh getting freaked out by the thought of the baby inside. If it's any consolation, my dh won't snuggle close if he thinks he's likely to be kicked. In fact, I chased him out of the bed with my bump yesterday as sproglet was kicking away and making the bump move alarmingly! Even worse, he's decided he won't be able to cope with the birth. I've made him promise to be there for the long hours beforehand, but as soon as it gets gory he's legging it. Tbh, I don't mind as I'd rather his first sight of sproglet was a positive one, rather than being put off by blood and stuff. He's so supportive in other ways, this is just his sticking point. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that other dhs are finding it all a bit difficult and hope that helps.

Elsa123 · 16/08/2010 10:24

Thanks Shieldbug its good to know I'm not alone! My DH reckons he'll be fine at the birth bit (not sure how when he is incredibly squeamish). Some people really step up to the mark at the time, so perhaps both our DH's will surprise us.

My friend who is a mw said there's surprisingly little to see from the head end...

SamanthaB123 your discomfort sounds rubbish, but take heart in the fact that it sounds like your baby is optimally positioned! Left hand side and all that. x x x
