Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
angels1 · 09/07/2010 14:41

Well, I just spoke to my Doctor and she told me to sit tight and see how things go over the week end and that the NHS won't scan this early based on what I've said unless I'm bleeding. I rung my local private hospital but they can't fit me in today and told me to go to A and E to get a scan, so now I'm sitting here shaking and crying not knowing what to do, not wanting to worry DH at work. I mean, it's not like I'm bleeding, it's just a feeling I have...

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/07/2010 15:05

angels please don't take this the wrong way but I think you're picturing a worst case scenario and my concern is that if you do get yourself all stressed then you might make it happen. Try and take yourself outside, get some fresh air and think of happy things. We've all had 'un pregnant' days - it's normal. I know this is something that you desperatly want but the only thing to do is trust your body and cross your fingers.

Have you checked the list of side effects on the medication you're taking by the way? Is there anything on there that might link to how you're feeling now?

Please, please, please try and stay happy...

angels1 · 09/07/2010 15:05

Just to update have booked a private scan somewhere else for tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed there's a strong heart beat.

angels1 · 09/07/2010 15:08

thanks kintternottwitter. Sadly I'm just a naturally anxious person! I have also been getting odd cramping pains, which is what led me to ring the Doc, but hoping it's all 'normal' cramping.

And have just checked my med side effects - 'nervousness' is stated!

At least I'll know tomorrow afternoon.

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/07/2010 15:09

That is great news - a lovely positive thing to look forward to. You've had such a shitty time with your MS I really do feel for you.

Now promise me you're going to go and have a happy time this afternoon and not fret.... impossible I know but please try...

OP posts:
KnitterNotTwitter · 09/07/2010 15:15

AHA - I blame the meds. They can play weird tricks on you. And the doctor should have warned you about that - particularly knowing that you'd had a misscarriage before - what are you most likely to be - nervous about another one that's what. The tablets will have exascerbated any minor worries you have, and that the 'un-medicated' you would have just shrugged off, into something much bigger.

I once reacted hideously to Larium which I started taking before going on a trip to Uganda. The reaction was so bad that I ended up sobbing uncontrollably at 3am and phoning my parents because I just didn't know what to do. Cue parents rusing up to London, cancelled trip, and two weeks before I felt 'normal' again. I'd had minor depression before and the theory is that the Larium found a trace of that in my brain and built it up and up.

OP posts:
angels1 · 09/07/2010 15:15

I'll go for a little walk knitter and then watch 'lost'. That usually cheers me up Thank you for your help and advice, it means alot here's hoping for good news to report to you all tomorrow evening

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/07/2010 15:17

Just glad I was here and not doing my work

Angels I am the same. seem mostly symptom less apart from tiredness and hunger! sometimes bothers me more than other days. tested again this both was feeling so normal! knitta how odd re swimming. I seem ok as long as do hardly anything. good job dd is 8 and not a baby. off camping now. look after yourselves girls

tadjennyp · 09/07/2010 18:19

Angels I hope your scan goes well tomorrow and you are feeling less anxious. I've just spent half an hour in tears through loneliness, basically. It's quite hard to make friends abroad when you're in your thirties and you don't work. One girl, who I've just got friendly with, is moving back to Australia next week, one of my best friends here with children the same age wants to move to Seattle. I know I am incredibly lucky to live in such a gorgeous place and to have the choice to stay at home with the dcs, but today I'm finding it a little isolating. I'm so glad I have you lovely people to vent to.

Anyway, that's enough self-pity from me. I hope you all have a lovely Friday night.

leelteloo · 09/07/2010 19:50

Hi Angels and tadjennyp sorry to hear you are having a rubbish afternoon. I hope things feel a bit brighter after a good nights sleep, so wishing one of those for you both.
I looked on the stats tadjennyp and it doesn't say your location. If your any where near me I'm always up for making new friends as I moved up here when i got married 2 years ago and have only 2 friends near that I met through my NCT antenatal classes, which is really cool but I miss all my friends and family down in London and feel pretty isolated and lonely too sometimes.
Take care everyone and have a peaceful and cool if possible nite. Oh yea, any one else gasping for a glass of wine?

tadjennyp · 09/07/2010 19:58

I'm in Oregon, USA leelteloo, but am from Lincoln originally, so it would have been lovely to meet you! I sometimes feel that I am the only one who is still shy as an adult and ought to just snap out of it! Pregnancy hormones probably don't help, do they?

smallblackflowers · 09/07/2010 20:18

knitter I really like the apple tree pattern too, and also the last sampler one that you linked too - will go and have a look for myself though!

sweetnitaniro my DD is 16 mo, I had to drop down to 1 feed per day to get pg but am letting her have a free-for-all now that I'm up the duff, but as I'm back at work full time in a few weeks I guess I'll be back to 1 or 2 feeds per day then. Am also a bf peer supporter so know a few other extended bf'ers and tandem feeders - knitter that you couldn't carry on for as long as you both wanted.

angels do try not to worry - hard I know - my symptoms are different every day, one day I actually didn't take any of my sickness meds, and did I regret it the next day! Fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow.

kat2504 · 09/07/2010 21:13

Hi thought I'd post and give correct details about my stats. I'm 32, this will be my first. Not sure about due date yet, having a private early scan next week so will update but expect it to be 22nd.
leelteloo - god yes I am gasping for a nice chilled glass of rose! Giving up smoking, wine and intravenous supply of coffee all at once on the same day was baaad! Although I am repulsed by the smell of smoke at the moment.

Anyone else with a fairly nonchalant DP? Since i told mine about the unplanned pg he had not been in the slightest bit perturbed by it. I am freaking out with all manner of anxieties about the future in the meantime.

Am becoming obsessed by symptoms but so far this week have not wasted any cash on performing more preg tests! Anyone found that boobs got less sore about seven weeks? I was worried cos I thought it would be another month before it changed. I sympathise with the feeling of "unpregnant" days, I'd been feeling the same too. Hope your scan goes well angels, I'm sure I'll be a lot less worried once I've had mine too.

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/07/2010 23:04

kat thanks for the update to your stats.

tadjennyp I've realised that you're in the stats twice somehow - once for the 2nd of Feb and once for the 9th... can you let me know which is correct....!

I've also just been reading through the info I got today and they've amended my due date to 27 Jan...! I'm sure it'll actually change again when I have my dating scan in a couple of weeks but I've updated myself in the meantime so I can have the glory of being at the top of the list!!!

sbf When I got back from hospital after the ectopic I was actually quite glad to not be BFing as it gave me an excuse for my DH to do bedtime duties every night... And having made DH do the 'cold turkey' with DS over not BFing to sleep it wouldn't have been fair on DH or DS to re-lactate....as much as I would have liked to...sigh

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/07/2010 23:15

Just seen that the stats says we're down to 104 people but that isn't correct - the formula that counts the number of people has ignored me now i'm at the top of the list - whoops! I'll correct that now but won't repost the stats as I think it gets in the way of the flow of conversation!! It'll be correct the next time I do an update I promise!!

OP posts:
linz17xxx · 09/07/2010 23:56

Been for my appointment with the consultant today. The path lab lost my blood results so I had to get them all done again! Then the doctor decided to test for somethin else so I had to have more. They want to see me again in 6 weeks and have referred me to a specialist about my ibs which is still much worse than normal. Got my scan appt for 4th aug so its just a waiting game til then

tadjennyp · 10/07/2010 05:32

Knitter my early scan has estimated the due date to be 9th February but I look about 4 months pregnant at the moment anyway! Thank you for doing all these updates for us - my tired brain barely allows me to do anything useful.

tabbycat76 · 10/07/2010 06:48

Hi everyone - it's been a long time since I posted on here, basically due to feeling so crap! The vomiting started last week tho thankfully only made an appearance on 2 occasions. Still the nausea remains but I think (and pray) that it's easing. Either that or I'm getting used to it. Anyway, the GP has signed me off for another 2 weeks so relieved at that!

Big news for us is that we had our 2nd scan yesterday to confirm whether it was still twins or not. It would appear that the smaller of the 2 sacs that they saw last time which they couldn't see anything in has made up for lost time and development, so yes, we're still expecting twins! Whoop! So that would explain the earlier nausea I had (started at 5 weeks) and why I've felt so bad! Also my tummy is looking a little more rounded now.

so they've dated us as 7+5 today with an ammended due date of 21st Feb tho I think they often deliver a couple of weeks earlier with twins.... and I'll most definitely want a section. Mad I know but I've seen so many times women getting talked into having a normal delivery with twins and then having complications with the second twin that she'd end up in theatre therefore having two sore exit points! No thank you, one is enough so that'll be my plan (for now anyway).

Anyway, I hope you ladies are all ok. angels I hope your scan today goes ok, remember, ms is a sign of a healthy pregnancy!! I'm sure you'll be ok, I'll be thinking of you. linz17 I'll be interested to hear what the specialist says about your ibs. I think that that was what causing my pain way ealy on. It's improved a little now but still, it's not pleasent. Hope he gives you some constructive and helpful advice/solution.

Take care girls and have a good day x

kat2504 · 10/07/2010 07:36

tabbycat congratulations! Twins run in my family I'd love to have two although I haven't been really bad with symptoms so probably not likely.
angels good luck with your scan today hope it's all good news.
Hope you're all having a nice weekend

grigglepuff · 10/07/2010 07:52

Has anyone had any weird allergic reactions? I was out a restaurant with fiends last night and after a mouthful of salad my mouth began to tingle, I asked what was on the salad (turns out it could have rapeseed oil that I had the reaction to as everything else is stuff I normally eat) and as they were checking the ingredients my throat completely closed up and I couldn't speak and barely breathe. They were in the middle of calling an ambulance when it calmed down (I asked them to cancel the ambulance). NHS Direct recommended Piriton as it's safe in pregnancy and thankfully I am all ok now. Scary stuff.
I was on the phone with DH once better and he was obviously worried and looked it up online and apparently you can develop allergies in pregnancy - has anyone else developed any new allergies?
Apologies for the long post!

brockleyD · 10/07/2010 08:39

Angel, good luck today with scan. Don't worry too much my symptoms seem to really come and go and I went for my early 8 week scan yesterday at FMC and everything was fine. I really hope it will be the same for you, I know the worry, I check my underwear for blood at least 5 times a day! On Thursday in the middle of class I excused myself to check - paranoi!

Good luck and hopefully you will enjoy the experience.

zerominuszero · 10/07/2010 08:50

Can I join in the fun? It still doesn't feel real to me yet as I haven't seen a midwife yet or had a scan, but it is very exciting!

My stats:

24th Feb, e, zerominuszero, 1, 25, Kent, 7+2, boy

angels1 · 10/07/2010 08:57

Morning all and thank you so much for your good luck wishes for my scan. Feel a bit rubbish again this morning, so am hoping this is a good sign . Told DH I'd booked scan and he initially wasn't very happy - took the view 'you can't book a scan every time you think something might be wrong', which I understand, but didn't help my general upset! I think it's as he thinks it's too early and he'd rather wait a week or so to see more (I'm currently nearly 8 weeks). I then started thinking maybe it's a bad move - what is I'm told my dates were out and I'm not as far as I thought? very frustrating going back in time and they might not be able to date easily etc etc, and that's on top of the main worry that everything isn't progressing correctly. I'm just a natural worrier I guess!

linz let me know what the consultant says re: ibs as I'm a sufferer of that too.

tadjenny you're not the only one who can feel alone and friendless - it's hard making new friends and I don't have alot if I'm honest. Sort of drifted from school friends, uni friends have moved all over the place and DH isn't really the particularly sociable sort of person, so can feel a bit isolated. This is terrible to admit, but I felt the worst when planning my wedding and realised I didn't actually have many friends to invite - it made me feel really sad especially as some friends I did want to come couldn't (not their fault, e.g. one would have been 8 months pregnant and in Sweden, so really couldn't have expected her to come)

Take care all and will report my scan results when get them.
