glaston i hope your ds1 is feelin better soon and you have a really relaxing weekend.

What's this about evening primrose oil inside??? how do u get it in there then?? (am i being dumb?) never heard of it but as i said i'm game to try anything that may help

memphis i'm so of your pampering today it all sounds lovely and also that so many of you have been painting your toenails, i haven't thought about this for weeks but will probably have a go over the weekend as they are definitely in need.

stac fingers crossed all your decorating is finished soon i cant wait to get started just hope baby's room done before she arrives and the rest i'll just do as i go along.

wwsw i'm loving the world cup tho the games today were pretty boring on the whole but i love the spirit of it all not that i'm a hang the flags/bunting kind of person myself!

well i'm off to my bed so sweet dreams and restless nights everyone xxxx

Right, apparently taking EPO from 34 weeks orally is ok, just 1-2 500mg capsules a day then up to 3-4 a day from 38 weeks.

Where raspberry leaf tones the uterus, EPO can help ripen the cervix so it's ok to use them together.

EPO works well orally but directly onto the cervix is optimal and from what i've read you can insert a capsule but you should do it at night. Your body heat will melt the capsule and because you're not standing up the oil isn't as likely to leak out!!

Stuff wot I have read: www.supernanny.co.uk/Advice/-/Pregnancy-and-Birth/-/Childbirth-and-you/Natural-Induction.aspx

www.pregnanthealth.com/evening-primrose-oil/

I think I might start on that tomorrow then

Firerise · 12/06/2010 09:38

Morning!

Haven't been on for a while as Have to post on my phone as my laptop is broken and not looking like it's going to be fixed or replaced anytime soon which is a total pain to be without when I'm eventually on mat leave...15 working days to go!!!!

Been on the raspberry leaf tea since week 32 when I was advised to have 1 cup a day and them up it to 2 cups a day at 34 weeks and then up to 3 cups a day from 36 weeks till the end. I'm actually quite liking it (once I've added a cheeky spoonful of sugar).

Nearly had to resort to prunes this week too...was getting quite painful but seems to be ok today....phew!!!

Never heard of the epo thing before but (and this had to be dreamt up by a man and there is no way it could have been tested!!) I heard that as mentioned earlier sperm has proglastin (sp???) in which when applied to the cervix starts to soften it....well this theory is that it has a greater effect if the sperm is ingested through the lining of the stomach if you see what I mean!!!!!
Lol!

Still not got my pram and highly impatient now!

Hope you all have a lovely day x

stac14 · 12/06/2010 10:03

Morning all, gorgeous day here and it's my baby shower tonight so looking forward to catch up with the girls and excited about the daft games. On a sad not friends mum is in hospital were they have found a lump in each breast. They also want to do a full body scan etc to see if theres anything else.

fireriser how have you been? When i was ttc i took epo as it helps produce cervical mucus. They say sperm does have good properties to soften cervix but you would have to be doing it loads lol

Hope your all good, need to get out in the sunshine. Hoping i can get a spray tan x

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 10:05

Those who were interested, I went to an emergency appt at hospital with scan after seeing mw, but couldn't get hold of dh at the time.

Sonographer accidently let the sex slip, but I didn't say anything to DH as I thought he wanted a surprise. When I explained re: the buggy situation he couldn't believe I knew and hadn't said (I'd only known for two days!) but was very excited to find out, so I told.

He's on his way to pick it up now!!

memphis83 · 12/06/2010 10:06

fireise i read on the net that sperm will only have effect if it is in levels of over 50 orgasms in 24 hours, same with the pineapple theory for that to work you need around 20 whole fresh pineapples in 24 hours so i think both are a no-no for me!
well i was up at 4.30 which was annoying as with wedding today i wanted to sleep in til about 8 then start with wrapping gift, ironing dh's outfit (hes buggered off for a game of golf before we leave!) and generally getting ready, sat doing nothing all morning and around 8 i fell asleep and only just woke up!! im not a girl that takes hours to get ready but we leave in just over an hour and i still need to the shop and have a nail i caught re touched!!
quite a few of you are talking about constipation, i havent got that problem but ive had terrible wind from both ends all week and im worried im going to have the urge during wedding
right then i best get off my backside and start doing something, have a great day ladies!! x

kkfairybrains · 12/06/2010 11:01

enjoy the wedding memphis! hope you manage to keep your farts in! i know how difficult this can be as they just pop out of me when i dont even know they're coming!
stac so exciting about baby shower! im dyng to hear what games and stuff you all get up to!
anifers a great relief to hear from you! couldnt stop thinking about you and what may have happened and was sure you had your little woman!
well this little mite is officially fully cooked tomorrow! kind of scary to think that anytime in the next few weeks it could make an appearance! exciting too but its just not seeming real to me at all this week. dont know why.getting a blood test thing done this morning.they test 300 foods on your blood and they tell you what foods are making your metabolism slow down and making you put on weight.the main reason im getting it done is for energy levels as its brilliant for this and it'l have the extra added bonus that you lose weight too! the weight bit is definately NOT gonna be at the top of my priority list though!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 12/06/2010 11:47

morning everyone!

gracie have fun playing with your new toy! Reminds me, I really should work out how to operate the bugaboo...am still utterly clueless!

memphis have a great day hope it's not too windy lol

I've started the EPO, going to go straight to 3 a day. I think re the pineapples if you eat as many as you're supposed to then all you're going to do is give yourself bellyache! Ah well, the baby will come when ready, but it does make me feel mildly more in control to pop a few pills every day

Am home alone for a couple of hours while dh and dd get football snacks and go to B&Q. Had every intention of a bit of yoga and a shower but here I am at the computer again...doh!

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 12:28

Out of interest, how is everyone doing on names?

Now that we know it's a girl we were pretty productive last night. We are definitely using first name Elisha (she can be Elle or Ellie for short) but are torn between Beatrice or Mei as a middle name.

Beatrice means blessed and Mei means beautiful.

Sooo.... Would you be more inclined to name your daughter blessed or beautiful?

Hi everyone
WWSW I can so identify with the bugagboo confusion, must sit down and watch that DVD before the baby arrives or will look very very stupid when I cant operate it at all! DH seems to have a few ideas, would hate to admit defeat!!

Lovely to hear that everyone doing OK. You have all got me thinking about raspberry leaf tea and what else I should be taking. I am on Spatone for iron and Flaxseed capsules for omega, as well as pregnacare multi vit. Not sure that excuses my junk food habit though ! Determined to get 5 a day now I am finished work and can be more organised.

Felt unexpectedly sad to finish work this week, made me realise how much I love my job and starting to wonder who I will be if I don't have my professional identity. I know that sounds a bit odd, but not sure that being a "mum" will be enough? Hope thats not too offensive to SAHMs, we are all different and its just a personal feeling that is worrying me a little at the moment.

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 13:08

Grumpy No offence taken. You will have to toughen up a bit tbh. It's unbelievable the number of people who looked shocked when you say SAHM. People are always asking me when my mat leave finishes or when I intend to go back to work.

'None of their damn business' is what I say in my head. Then I politely answer that both DH and I had working mothers growing up, but we believe it is best for our children to have one parent and home and are willing to make lifestyle adjustments to accommodate that.

TBH, I probably will start working again when all my kids are in school, but it's no-one else's business. If I choose to stay at home forever, as long a DH is happy I can't see why it's anyone else's concern.

Also quite annoying is the 'what a waste' comments about your education. But this should all be on another thread I'm sure

MLIC It's so funny that you picked William for a boy! That's DS name, and Lois has been on our shortlist too! Are you sure you haven't been secretly spying on me....?

Will's middle name is Titus if that helps. I have no problem with thievery as we are unlikely to meet in RL. However nixster would be a different story...

Wwsw thanks for the info on epo might have to give it a go in the absence of 50 orgasms or 20 pineapples!!

Lol at memphis hope you enjoy the wedding today and don?t fart in any of the quiet bits!!

Stac hope you enjoy your baby shower and get spoiled rotten and also hope that your friends mum doesn?t get any more bad news

so that?s how you managed to find out gracie without dh knowing, bet your excited about getting your pram today!!!! Names wise I?ve been keeping quiet mostly in RL as have had a few nasty comments and looks. I?ve decided on Drea Marie which I know is a bit different but I really like it. At least I know there will not be 5 other Drea?s in her class at school.

Grumpy I?ve been through total identity crisis after leaving a job I loved in 2008 to spend a year in st lucia staying with friends and meeting my boyfriend. To coming home in November for a 6 month visit and finding out I was 10 weeks pregnant and could not find work so have had to go on benefits for the first time in my life!! Talk about shock to the system. As I suffer with PCOS I was told I did not ovulate at all and would never conceive so now to find myself about to be a single-ish mum and jobless on benefits is total turnaround. My motto for life is everything happens for a reason and just take life 1 day at a time. Also facing reality of not returning to work for approx 3-4 years but I?m hoping to do a business degree in this time to keep me busy

Firerise · 12/06/2010 14:59

Stac hope you enjoy your baby shower - let us know how it goes! Hope your friends mum is ok x

Memphis - 50 orgasms in 24 hours is one every 28 minutes!!! "They" also say that along with the prostaglandin in sperm you have to orgasm as well to release oxytocin...no pressure then!

Gracie Love both names a lot! Do either of them go best with your surname?

With regards to names if we have a girl we like Imogen and if its a boy we like Tobin. There is just so much responsibility to get the right name and I keep on questioning our choices even though I have been fairly set on them for months...might have a quick peek at the names book again just to be sure!

Might give the list a try but a bit scared it will go wrong and I'll get told off! lol

WickedWitchSouthWest · 12/06/2010 15:02

gracie Beatrice is lovely. That would be on my shortlist if our surname didn't begin with B!

grumpy agree completely with Gracie, ppl do have a tendency to be sniffy about a SAHM. Some can't quite understand what you do with yourself all day and you will get a few who are just jealous and make as many snipey comments as they can. You have to do right by YOUR family though, that's who comes first now. Never say never about working either, you might find that you are losing the plot at home and need to do something with yourself. I've found that it's made me really think about what I want to do, and knowing that we can survive on dh's salary means I feel much happier about doing something like social care where the pay is crap but I'll get some actual job satisfaction instead of paper pushing!

Re names, we're using family names for a boy, Edward Davis (might sneak another mn in there too lol) but I'd definitely shorten it to something like Ted which I just think is uber cute No luck with girls names at the mo. This is what's on our list: Laila, Sylvie, Serena, Edie, Sylvia, Lila, Harmony, Rosa, Sophia, Loveday, Juliet. Needless to say this is the long shortlist and dh hates pretty much everything. Let's hope we're having a boy, eh

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 15:52

firerise Gracie is my surname!! I think they both go quite nicely. Was wondering if I could get away with a double barrelled first and a middle so that I can have both

e.g. Elisha-Mei Beatrice Gracie and Ellie-mei for short.

My sister is insistent that people will say 'Mee' instead of 'May' if we spell it like this, but I really want to because 'May' and 'Mae' both come from the root meaning bitter, but 'Mei' is chinese meaning beautiful. I know meanings aren't that important to some people, but they really are to me.

Nixster I LOVE the name Drea. I think it's totally beautiful. I didn't realise you were a single(ish) mom. I am too during the term (DH works about 70 hours per weeks, but gets long holidays) so we should definitely meet up when we move down there - no men to get in the way

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 15:55

p.s. WWSW I really wanted Rosaline after my grandmother, which we would shorten to rosa, but it reminded DH of a girl who stalked him for a while (Rose) and it really creeped him out.

You should use it though, because it's beautiful.

I also like Lila a lot. We considered Lola for a long time.

Wonderstuff · 12/06/2010 18:04

Hi all - am loving everyones name choices. I think Ellis is our current favourite - well it's both of our second favorite - neither of us likes the other's first choice.

Just got back from eventful trip to town - dh had dd on his shoulders and we went into a lift where she stuck her finger into a v.hot light fitting and now has a blistered finger - ice creams all round were needed. Didn't occur to either of us that having her up high in the lift was a hazard, always check for her head on doors and stuff - live and learn I guess, feel really bad though, poor might was very brave - hardly cried at all.

lol - pretty sure its a boy, but in RL we're telling everyone we don't know, so don't want it on the list - which I have managed to get told off for messing up once already If it turns out to be a girl I have no idea!

nixster28 · 12/06/2010 18:53

Gracie I?m single in the sense that my boyfriend is still in St Lucia and cant come over here at the moment due to immigration restrictions (which I totally understand btw given the state of our economy since we opened the doors to Eastern Europe.) We speak all the time and it would nice if we had a fairytale ending but i'm not totally deluded in thinking long distance relationships work! I was only supposed to come home to catch up with family and spend max 6 months back in uk before heading back over. The prospect of raising a baby out there is so daunting, it is after all a third world country and such a different culture. i.e. not knowing if house will have water or electricity from 1 day to the next which is no good with a baby, also the healthcare system is pretty terrible and costs a fortune plus crime is on the rise also. I plan to go over next year and spend a few months there but other than that I plan to raise Drea on my own. Thankfully my mum raised me & brother single-handedly so is a great inspiration to me.
I love the name Elisha Mei it?s really nice and think u could definitely have Beatrice in there as well.
I wanted Rose too but as my niece is Lily thought I?d leave that one alone.
Wwsw I love the name Serena and also Harmony they seem such graceful names.
Wonder hope your dd was cheered up by the ice cream and not too badly hurt. Ellis was in my top 3 for a boy.
