Lots of lovely names on here. Love Drea nixster. I particularly like Beatrice, but also love Elisha Mei Gracie

As we are having a boy, I have no idea on boys names. Lots of girls names, I really like Penelope and Cecily...however, don't think they are very useful for boys. We know far too many boys of my first DD age and younger, which means he's have the same name as someone else we knew...which is likely to be unavoidable, but want something more unusual. we're very much into Charlie/George/Edward type names, but have close friends with all 3!!!!

Any suggestions welcome!

aw nixter you sound like you're dealing with it very well. cant be the easiest situation as you probably feel pulled between the 2 places but as you say your mum done it so you know you'll be fine.
loving everyones names! ellie may is mine too gracie for a girl! can understand what you mean about the mei thing but i dont really dwell on name meanings! did you see your pram yet?
well my mum went to a fortune teller today and she never said a thing to the woman and she told her she was going to be a granny very soon and it was a little girl! a different one told me last year nearly to the date when i'd be pregant and that it'd be a girl.so it'l be interesting to see! and she said its probable i may end up with a section and that the little girl would bring so much joy and happiness to our lives! made me well up!
been working all day apart from this morning and i'm exhausted! cant wait to finish up.hopefully next sat but i have a feeling i'l have to end up working the week after too which wil bring me to a week before my due date

GlastonburyGoddess · 12/06/2010 19:59

memphis83-Im with you on the football, neither me nor dp are interested in it although ds1 has got pretty into it through football charts and stickers. More of a rugby household here! Was the wedding nice, did you have a good time?

Firerise- Im very pro sex for inducing labour, Im sure thats how labour started with ds2 but the spd means Im not going to be up for it this time around-we havent had sex for weeks now and probably wont now till LO here. Stuff ingesting it though YUK!

stac14- Sad about your friends mum, have they established wether it is cancer yet? my friends having a biopsy from her cervix as theyve found abnormal stuff, shes only 30

Have had very lazy day today, got up this morning, made everyone bacon sarnies then went back to bed! lay there snozing/watching the box till dp came back from his driving lesson at 11!! Then just lazed around watching dp paint the bedroom, looks lovely, just need to gloss the skirting and door frame now.
dp did the garden and the grass, cooked tea and then I popped down to MILs to feed her cat and water her plants whilst theyre in greece. not in too much pain tonight so just shows how taking it really easy has helped, shame I cant laze about like it everyday!

Interesting to here everyones name thoughts, havent thought a great deal about it as yet but Im quite set on Evie with maybe Elizabeth as a middle name for a girl and no ideas as yet for a boy. we already have a alex and a alfie so name cant be anything starting with an A and definately not AL (alison) as dp suggested! and surname begins with R so any name suggestions for boys are very welcome!

Jojobil · 12/06/2010 20:01

My DH came back home yesterday and said he really likes Denton as a second middle name. Eeeek! I hope I am not offending anyone. We have Frank as the first name (already got a plane ticket ;)) and Andrew in Polish spelling as the middle name , after my dad. I realise it's odd, but it matters to me... I love names like Charlie, William, Oliver, Leo, etc.. For girls Charlotte, Betty, Anais, Lilly. Beatrice is lovely and so is Dylan DH

William will be our boy's middle name, my maiden name is Williams so I wanted to use it. DD is called Lucy which means 'light' and our boy's name is Samson which means 'sunrise', I just liked the way the two meant similar things.
Not all girls called Rose are stalkers btw
And for a girl we have Heidi Rose (maybe shouldn't name her after me but I think my ego can take it ) We have a girl's name as our last name so any girls in our house sound like they've got far too many names!

DesperateHousewife21 · 12/06/2010 21:00

Thanks jojo we are def sticking with Dylan and having James as a middle name. Hes been Dylan since the 20 week scan when we found out he's a boy so its like he is already part of the family and couldnt imagine giving him another name now.

Thanks for the re-assurance on the name Drea as I really love it but most people in RL have just screwed their faces up and said ?mmm what about??? and suggested other names.

Thank you kkfairy it has been hard to deal with but this baby was a total surprise and my little miracle so definitely my 1st priority. I have pcos and was told I?d never conceive naturally and my ovaries were both riddled with cysts and preventing me even ovulating. It obviously did my body good being overseas tho as I lost loads of weight through eating just fresh unprocessed food and walking miles each day and was 10 weeks pregnant before I even found out by which time I was back in the UK.
That?s so sweet about the fortune teller made me well up too.

Mlic it never ceases to amaze me what celebrities call their kids these days, madness!

Glaston I love the name Evie but 2 of my friends already have Evie?s so was a bit of a no-go for me.

kkfairybrains · 12/06/2010 21:33

would love to be doing something tonight . feelin a bit left out and lonely to be honest! evryone gone out.im home in my mums because im working here for the weekend and she's gone away for the weekend and dp gone out too. think its cause one of the girls just came up to have a shower there as hers is broke and she's off out too. hate nights like this! i really miss the socialising part of going out

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 21:50

mlic Titus is a Greek name that means 'honorable'. We liked it following William, because that means 'determined protector'. DH feels very strongly that a first born male should have very masculine names!
Tbh I'm not conviced he didn't suggest Titus because it sounds a bit like Titan and he was thinking of heroic Greek myths...

nixster your friend with an Evie doesn't also have a B and live in ampthill does she? She is the only person I know in the whole of the Bedford area. Would be too wierd if you knew her too!!

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 21:55

chulita I know that not all rose's are stalkers!! My grandmother certainly did no such thing!!
However DH really doesn't want to be reminded of the girl who attempted suicide when she found out we were engaged and worte him a otter on our wedding day begging him not to get trapped and that I was 'sucking his life' out of him.
fortunately he didn't get it until we got back from honeymoon. Good old royal mail

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 21:57

*wrote him a letter - stupid iPhone

Gracie123 · 12/06/2010 22:01

And finally...

kk yes! My beautiful pram has arrived!!! DS instantly started crying and saying he needed a pink pram and a pink car seat. When I pointed out that he wouldn't fit in this one and he has a grey seat he simply howled all the more and stated that he hates grey

this was soon remedied by DH removing the pram part, placing DS in the shopping tray and giving him go kart rides up and down the fell. Not sure how well it's going to go down when he has to give up his go kart for the new babies pram though

WickedWitchSouthWest · 12/06/2010 22:56

evening all

I love all our name choices, we're a good mix of unusual and traditional nixster I really like Drea, sounds very fairytale and ethereal. I keep settling on a girl's name and then changing my mind. Dh likes Laila alot though and I've got to admit it was one of the first on the list. We shall see!

gracie at your ds having a new go kart in the shape of your pretty pram!

Had my parents and sister round to watch the football. Utter outrage at ITV effing up the coverage though - missed the goal and then they pulled the HD grrrrrrr...

Right, bedtime! Night night

stac14 · 12/06/2010 22:59

hey ladies, i spent the day in hospital. Went to get my fake tan then got home and was doubled up in two with pain. Thought it was early labour and kept me there for 8 hours. Had to cancel baby shower and tbh am totally fed up, they think that as baby is very big she is causing me loads of pain. It didnt feel that way to me, was tightening, pains and back ache. Decided to come home, if anything happens i can go back. Friends mum wont get results to monday.

Was trying to catch up but my heads broke, will come back tomorrow. Hope your ok x

WickedWitchSouthWest · 12/06/2010 23:01

oh Stac! big um-mn hugs for you, what a nightmare. Hope you get a good night with no more pain x

kkfairybrains · 12/06/2010 23:32

aw stac poor you! 8 hours that wasn't nice. whatever it is i hope you sleep well and maybe feelbetter tomorrow.
just got out of the bath and discovered my first stretch marks . cant believe i got to 37 weeks and they decided to pop up now.

memphis83 · 13/06/2010 00:36

stac i was on here hoping to here how shower went, wasnt expecting that, hope your ok and have a good rest!
gracie shocking about your dh's ex, sounds like a crazy one tbh!!!
nixter you sound like you have everything sorted and that your baby is a real miracle! love the name btw.
mlic striker is awful but this comes from a girl who called her 1st baby rocky!
glaston were a moto gp and formula 1 household so i get away with quite a lot its only on every other week for about 4 months but i end up watching them more than dh!

had a lovely day at wedding it was small and personal, a couple of the kids there were annoying and i cant believe some parents let their kids act like that in a church surely its more respectful to take them out to the churchyard! i laughed so much this evening that everyone was saying i would bring baby on, and i got home about 10.30 (dh was the one to throw in towel b4 me!!) and since then i spent a while on loo (tmi) having pains and tightenings they have been pretty regular, but in last 15 mins have stopped! thought it had started if im honest! had spent most of day with niggly worry as lo hadnt really moved but he is wriggling around a bit now!
tomorrow we plan to have a nesting day together as house is in disarray due to garden taking priority for past few weeks so whole house is getting cleaned, as long as lo stays in there, loving all the names that are being brought up were still torn between dexter, reuben and otis travis has made a sneaky reappearance this week on to our names list!

Jojobil · 13/06/2010 07:08

I hope you are much better today Stac.

Chulita · 13/06/2010 08:00

gracie how cute of your DS and what a crazy girl there are some odd people in the world...

stac how horrible I hope you have a lovely chilled out day today!

DH is working again all day today so we have no weekend I was so bored yesterday cos he's got the car so there's nothing to do - we have two toddler swings within walking distance and that's it...sooooo boring!

Jojobil · 13/06/2010 08:06

Did anyone hear about Belly Bandit? My beautician, who is Portuguese said to wrap yourself after birth. Apparently women have been doing it in Portugal forever and it really helps getting back to shape. I think I will get one.

Gracie123 · 13/06/2010 08:45

Memphis reuben is a lovely name! I wish I'd thought of that, although my sisters daughter is a ruby, maybe too similar...

stac glad youre home, sorry about your baby shower

jojo never heard of a belly bandit, although my portugese friend has three kids and is always a size 6 minutes later can you link us to where we can buy one? Is it safe after a section?

Jojobil · 13/06/2010 08:48

I am having a section too. And I was told it is safe Here is the link www.bellybandit.co.uk/about.html to their website. I think mumstheword sells them.
