I'll be dyeing my hair tomorrow morning - seems like we've all got our priorities right at the moment .

WickedWitchSouthWest · 25/06/2010 11:32

of course! Altho have had 3 dashes to the loo this morning after breakfast, just going to force a banana down but I feel rough. Just my luck I'll get a full blown stomach bug now Trying to convince mum I'm fine to have my hair done but she isn't convinced. Dammit!

Gracie123 · 25/06/2010 11:34

Of course you are fine to have your hair done...

... If she is fine to do it whilst you sit on the loo!!!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/06/2010 11:43

lol memphis no my mum would not be impressed if my waters went on it!

Im currently sitting in Fenwicks whilst she tries to decide between sofa covers at least I can sit down on comfy sofas.

At least she is treating me to lunch soon

kkfairybrains · 25/06/2010 12:11

yum yum enjoy your lunch dh!
we wwsw i got it done and i swear to god my clothes are wringing wet with the sweating i done.had a shower literally before i went out the door and going for another one now. all smooth and clean now though and it wasnt as bad as the last few times. did you convince your mum to do your hair? how you feeling now?
violet yeah we do sound quite vain! im getting MORE highlights in this evening around the front of my hair cos the roots are horrendous and its only done 4 weeks. your one who done it last time made a crap job of it so my friend doing it for me tonight.she gave me a lovely facial last night too! and she's doing my tan and nails with clear varnish this eve! i love her!
gonna go lie down for a while after shower and try and get rid of this horrid feeling. would be just my luck to go into labour tonight with the baby shower tomorrow night!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 25/06/2010 12:22

Convinced her to do it later this afternoon! She's taking dd to her swimming lesson so I don't have to sit at the poolside sweating and have a rest instead!

kk who was it who said it sounded like we were all having pre-holiday preparations? Coz it's so true! I need to do a bikini line tidy later. Nearly had a horrible accident with the razor last time (!) so going to dig out some Immac or whatever it's called. The leg wax is still holding out but if I go over it's going to look bloody awful.

Still feel sick...I really do have to eat though so thinking toast and marmite is the way to go. Right off to make lunch for the masses....

stac14 · 25/06/2010 12:34

kk don't think about labour look what happened when it was my baby shower, i had a false start. I've also been light headed since yesterday. Anyone any ideas why that is?

So excited for you both viksam and jojo. I've not been told I can't have painted toe nails, hope i dont have to go bare nailed as mine are horrible lol

Have a great lunch dh do you know were your off to?

memphis hows the pain? Anything happening?

gracie poor you with the zimmer frame. Did you take ice lollies for dh? Lman

Ladies dp and I havent managed sex in about a month so feel very sorry for him. Have to do something soon lol.

Hardly slept at all last night so totally shattered today. Ds is playing his ps3 so think i'l have a nice long bath, shave my legs and stuff. Looking forward to the weekend so i can spend time with dp and kids. Whats everyone else's plans this weekend?

memphis83 · 25/06/2010 12:35

its funny it is like we are all going on holiday ive been cleaning this morning dh i finally did my bathroom!! ive just had a bath and shaved its scary blind shaving your lady garden!!! im going to sit and re do my nails after i have made a sandwich!
lo has got terrible hiccups, he has them all the time now!
was thinking rather than cram things in my hospital bag would it be wise to keep my going home and lo's going home clothes in another little bag and keep it in car? i plan on leaving as soon as i can walk again, also as we're having summer babies im taking a blanket but will i need a little cardi for him too?

stac14 · 25/06/2010 12:38

wwsw you just reminded me bout getting hair removal cream, will go tomorrow. Thanks

Lol at it this like preparing to go on hols, even down to the packing x

kkfairybrains · 25/06/2010 12:50

ha ha thats exactly what it seems like! id love to be going on holidays!
memphis how did you manage to shave down there?! i had to get dp to trim mine last night before i got my waxing done and was getting so frustrated as i couldnt see!
stac yeah it'l be just my luck something like that will happen. oh well at least i'l look half decent for it if it does! and id love to know what the light headedness is about.im thinking it may be a combination of tiredess and maybe iron a bit low or something?

memphis83 · 25/06/2010 13:30

kk it was like playing russian roulette!! my heart was racing as i had just put a new blade on the quattro so i had 4 blades to contend with but as i walked past mirror i thought ooh i will use bikini trimmers for length and oh dear i think i need to bath in miracle grow! i look like some weeble like porn star! thank goodness my mum will be staying at the head end during my labour i dread to think what she would think if she saw that!! one of the mw's is our neighbours sister and another mw is my mums very old looking neighbour so lets hope i dont end up with either of those i wont be able to look them in the eye again

kkfairybrains · 25/06/2010 14:02

well mine is bald too! i want it for after more so in case i get stitches i'll just feel cleaner. god knows what the midwives will think but im sure they've seen all sorts!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 25/06/2010 14:43

Feeling a bit better now ladies, well not sick anymore and my stomach has calmed down. Quite twingy and more bh than usual so I really hope this is something starting. Going to cancel driving to Cheltenham for a 5yo birthday party tomorrow though, I don't fancy 50 mins in the car! Dh will take dd out to the school fair instead and I'll go and starfish on our bed for the afternoon. Otherwise it'll just be a nice weekend pottering around.

stac lol at your toes! I NEVER have naked feet! I was distraught after dd was born and the consultant wanted my nail polish off to get me ready for theatre...mw spotted that I was having trouble with getting my head round having this incredible drug free birth and THEN being filled with chemicals and had a word so they let me go down with toenails intact So my advice is just have a panic attack if they try and make you remove your polish! I just remember her saying to the consultant "oh don't put her through all that as well" as though it was even worse than what I WAS going to have done!

Memphis my baby is also hiccuping alot, drives me to distraction late at night! Wonder if I took a swig of gripe water it would help? I've been rubbing baby's back and patting trying to bring the wind up. Tis all good practice

Re the bag, I found it easier to have fewer bags last time. I've just put our going home things in a seperate carrier bag (labelled) in my holdall. Clothes for baby immediately after birth are also in a seperate carrier bag (very clearly labelled for dh to see!) as he drove me loopy rooting through my carefully packed stuff last time.

I've also gone for the porn-weeble look! The most awful part of giving birth with dd? Having a bed bath with a 70's fanjo-fro. So mortifying and didn't feel CLEAN. Also I decided it was probably easier to take it all off when you're doing it blind, but the blade was a bit scary last time, so I'm definitely creaming from now on. kk I think the midwives have probably seen every kind of fanjo going - a friend of mine is newly qualified and she's already seen 800 births

Right, going to use this next hour constructively while dd is out. NAP!

stac14 · 25/06/2010 15:08

lmao wwsw bout panic attack so i can keep my nail polish. I had a 70's fanjo at the hospital the other week and it was mortifying

kk i looked up the light headedness/dizziness and its says it can be the way lo is lying, low blood pressure, low blood sugar. It suggest resting and maybe having a little snack. I checked my sugars so know its not that.

memphis you are brave shaving your own bush. Dignity goes out the window during labour so don't worry bout mw's who know you. They have seen thousands of births, fanjos and all sorts. My poor friend when having both kids actually pood (sorry tmi) she kept appologising to mw who said anything that was there would come out anyway.

X

memphis83 · 25/06/2010 16:16

wwsw that made me really laugh 70s fanjo fro!! i always say when you see the head crowning in pics in the books that they must use really hairy women to make women who dont shave feel beeter about themselves, i call that pic the chewbacca smiling shot!!

so annoyed i just phoned hospital as its now 3 days since i went in for monitoring, they said i needed a scan by no later than today as its classed as an emergency scan, they said someone tried calling me yesterday, i did have a missed call from a mobile with no voicemail left so i didnt think that would be hospital, the bloke just said they will call with a scan date early next week! i now lo is alright but some womens babies arent ok when they need an emergency scan so its putting people at risk im so angry, i will set my mw on them nextweek she can get quite scary!

kapars · 25/06/2010 16:18

Hurray I've finshed work today although to be honest this week was a bit of a skive as it was a handover week and I work from home so mostly been watching the tennis.

on the shaving - my mum said they used to shave you when you got to hospital as well as give you an enema. I guess it must have been the mws who did the shaving!

having a barbie tonight so dh is cooking - hurray.

excited for you ladies having your c-sections next week!

viksam · 25/06/2010 16:41

Stac its violet who is having a section next week not me!! I got all scared when I read my name been as though i havent posted for a while. Two babies on the same day, how ace, please post as soon as you can and let us know ur ok.
All this talk of fanjo fro is funny, i must get DH to sort mine out! He booked a pedicure for my birthday and when i got there it was a pedicure a facial and a bikini wax.......bless him! I swapped the bikini wax for a manicure because I wasnt pre warned so had mahoosive granny pants on and have never had one before so dont have a clue what to expect! I am a 70's hippy chick where some things are concerned!
I was up at 4.30 this morning making tea, just couldnt sleep and indeed havent slept since. I have been sat/lying on the sofa for a while but my legs are so restless its hopeless, just dont think i can relax enough to sleep but really need to!!
I have also washed all babies clothes now but not ironed them yet. I have a lot of woolen stuff to wash though anyone got any ideas what to wash them in as my non bio says not for wool??
It was so nice walking the dog in the park this morning that i went too far and coming back was hard work so now i have period like pain's to go with the restless leg's......ace!!
Im off to taunton tomorrow with DH in his sports car, probably the last time i shall go out in it no doubt, i will miss it, its a great car but only room for two! There is a TKMaxx and a dunelm mill aparently so some good shops to mooch in. Just hope i have a better night tonight.
Whats everyone else doing in this sweltering heat??

stac we ended up going to Pizza Hut, I havent been there in years. We had a buffet lunch and was very yummy!

memphis I really do need to clean my bathroom lol, Ill get round to it eventually.

With regards to fanjo-fros, Im too scared to do mine blind but more scared of letting DP loose on it. I managed to trim it a few weeks ago but would love it to be neat or all off for the labour.

My feet really ache after shopping today but my mum very kindly bought LO a bath towel from matalan and I got some slippers there for £2, bargain!

OP posts:
memphis83 · 25/06/2010 17:38

viksam i bought surcare washing powder its one of those for really sensitive skin so normally with the eco powders etc, it says you cant soak silks and wools in it but you can handwash items so as far as i read into that it means you can was wool in it just dont soak? i did my wools and it came out fine. dunhelm have got some great things i got a nursery organiser, nappy stacker and a lovely blanket in there for half price last week! also what a lovely thing for your dh to do for you a bit of pampering!!
kapers my mum said the razors were those awful ones that replaced blades in i vaguely remember my granddad using them! mum said they left you ripped to bits, she also said if you didnt breast feed they gave you salts to dry your milk up they dont do that anymore either!

Gracie123 · 25/06/2010 18:21

Slightly concerned about the number of women on here who find bikini waxing excruciatingly painful. CHANGE THERAPIST!!! She is not doing it right.

She should be instructing you to hold the skin very tight, and also using one of her hands (so three in place at all times and one to rip the strip). Anything less and she is just being lazy.

Most women should not bruise or feel sore after a wax, although us pregnant ladies may feel it a little more than most.

Jojobil · 25/06/2010 18:45

I've just shaved the front for the c-section. I can not get any lower... And anyway my beautician advised me not to wax whilst pregnant just shave. So I've only been doing my eyebrows and upper lip.. I exfoliate a lot and treat myself to long showers.;)

I am planning to take it very easy before Tuesday! DH is staying home on Monday and taking care of the school run. It's my last few days! Sending him out to get some meringues, mascarpone cheese and fresh strawberries now as I fancy a pavlova yum!

How is everyone coping with the heat?

WickedWitchSouthWest · 25/06/2010 18:49

mlic yeah, I've seen my bathroom far too much today I had a sleep this afternoon but still feel tired and am just having twinges, no tightenings I do not like this limbo stage at all, it's so frustrating. I'm seeing the mw on Monday for a sweep so at least I'll know then if anything is actually happening!

vik IRON baby clothes? You are pulling my leg aren't you? I didn't start ironing dd's things til she was 3 and the clothes were big enough to show creases! For wool you can use Dreft, it's very gentle and we've had no skin issues from it so it'll be fine for newborn clothes.

dh I use the small angle bathroom mirror for fanjo topiary. It's not perfect but it's better than hacking about blindly or letting dh do it. Tbh dh wouldn't want to anyway, I think he'd be a bit weirded out

I'm with gracie on the pain/bruising. I've only had one very bad wax where I bruised and ended up with ingrown hairs and never went back there again! It's not nice obviously but it shouldn't hurt that much!

Have postponed my hair til tomorrow morning...baby stay put tonight please! Oh, the vanity!
