Any volunteers for my ironing pile? I have no motiviation seeing as there's 6 of dh's massive shirts in there and he now won't be back in the office til mid August! BUT something is stopping me from just shoving them in his wardrobe unironed

memphis83 · 25/06/2010 20:00

wwsw put shirts in wardrobe then come august they will take less ironing than if you leave them in basket!
mlic i dont mind the heat either i hate people pulling that stupid face and saying oooh i bet your suffering in this heat! im like you ready for the baby now, im preened, house is bleached, only thing that needs doing is a small amount of ironing and the kitchen floor which im about to do! i set up the steriliser tonight so my plan is when i go into labour i can do my bottles to keep my mind off contractions!
i cant believe how many of you wax! ive booked so many and always go in and ask to change it to another treatment i get very worried about getting the fanjo out to the 18 year olds at the beauty rooms!
oh and mlic i asked my dh to trim me earlier just to see his reaction and he looked horrified i cant imagine wanting him to do it for me! he told me thats what mums are for! my mum would be equally horrified!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 25/06/2010 20:16

memphis good plan. They're currently hanging off the doorframe to the nursery so they really can't stay there!

Am also fed up of that whole "oo I bet you're suffering" er not really, although I could do without having to get up at 3am to cool down. The house gets so hot at night! At least with nice weather in the day dd is easily entertained outside or at the park and I get to sit about and watch her play

Oh and once you've given birth you'll have no shame anymore. Trust me

stac14 · 25/06/2010 20:19

sorry viksam i know its violet who's being sectioned next week just my preggo brain typing wrong.

I'm going for hair removing cream, as i hate the itching after shaving.

memphis they used to give you epsom salts to flush the milk from you. Binding your boobs was another and an enima (sp) to make sure you were clear for labour. Thank goodness they don't do stuff like that anymore

kapars bet your glad your finished now

My aunt has ironed all lo's stuff i wouldnt have the patience. Dp is sending me for a lie down before big brother. Don't think i'm quite with it just now. Soz ladies, i'l check in later x

viksam · 25/06/2010 21:16

Wicked well i was going to iron a few yeah, is that really stupid? I have the moses basket bedding to iron too. And lots of our own stuff. BOO!!
MLIC Glad u iron urs too, i expect its all part of the nesting instinct, I'll probably give up after a week!
I had a little attempt at packing my bag today need to go back and find the latest list, dont think i did too bad though.
Re baby stuff, do i remember someone saying that cotton wool pads are better than balls? also ddo we take wipes or not? Or should we just take everything?? I like the idea of baging stuff up for DH. I layed out a vest and a baby grow and told him what they were called last night, he didnt seem impressed but i know he doesnt know this stuff. I think he just thinks he will know, how will he???
stac ohhh i wish someone else would iron my stuff, however, a random Aunt who i dont know very well but is lovely had knitted me the most amazing, big, blanket, also a circular cotton crochet(?) shawl which screws up really small for ur bag. So lovely and very clever.
The heat has actually done me in today, i think its the lack of sleep too, i had a quick kip for half hour in the end, so so need to sleep tonight!!

Wonderstuff · 25/06/2010 21:21

They also used to send you home with a big bag of salt to put in your bath to help heal stitches - my midwife advised tea tree oil and lavender oil in a bit of milk for my bath - know which I'd rather

I had a nice relaxing day, my lovely sil picked me and dd up, gave us lunch, we did dd's dance class, she did dd tea and dd fell asleep in the car on the way home when dh collected us. My house is looking lovely, not that dh has noticed, but nevermind, weekend starts tomorrow, will get last few bits for hospital bag and sort out moses basket and cot. Would really like to go to John Lewis and get some yarn and start some knitting, but it is a bit of a treck, not sure if that will happen.

I can't believe no one has had a baby yet! Roll on Tuesday

stac14 · 25/06/2010 22:29

rose oil is meant to have great healing properties too

viksam I just double checked with dp that he knew what the different bits and bobs are since its been 12 years since he had ds lol

think your right about the heat causing us all to feel over tired. We are going shopping for my dressing gown and last minute hospital stuff. I also want to make sure lo has a nice outfit to come home from the hospital in and hopefully some bits for me to come home with too. Last time I came home from hospital with ds I was wearing a pair of ex-dps jogging bottoms and a huge t-shirt, hardly flattering new mums wear x

Gracie123 · 25/06/2010 22:46

slightly off topic, but how many had sections with last DC fairly recently (say last 5 years)?

Is your scar getting really painful?

I mentioned to the MW a few times now that I am concerned about how sore/painful it's getting and she keeps saying not to worry and it's perfectly normal.

I'm actually at a point now where I can't wear under bump trouser and or pants (have had to buy giant granny sloggi's ) because anything that touches it is really sore.

Also finding sitting up painful because bump presses on it.

Has anyone else experienced this? DH thought it might be a good idea to rub cream on to help soften it up a bit, but it really is too painful now.

stac14 · 25/06/2010 22:49

i havent had a c-section gracie but I get pains across my stomach due to the size of lo and basically i have been told i just have to be out up with it (buggers) x

WickedWitchSouthWest · 25/06/2010 22:55

vik bag it and tag it. When the time comes, the mw will shout for clothes for baby and won't be happy waiting for dh to scrabble about in the bag - my dh was in a proper daze with it so it's easier if he can just pick up a bag I'm taking wipes to use instead of toilet paper, I'm fussy about loo roll generally and you REALLY want something kind on your undercarriage for those first couple of days!

And no, ironing isn't stupid, I just don't have the hours in the day to add anymore ironing to my pile at the moment, going to delay it as long as poss!

stac a rose and lavender oil bath sounds lovely! I was going to have another clary sage oil bath tonight but it's roasting upstairs and the thought of heating myself up in a bath does not appeal. Going to have a peppermint shower instead - zing!

I was planning on coming home in a t shirt dress and leggings, but if it's still hot I'll get dh to bring me a little dress (if I'm in overnight that is).

So are there going to be any babies this weekend? My mw won't believe it when I turn up on Monday for my sweep; she was utterly convinced I'd have popped this week!

Gracie123 · 25/06/2010 22:58

I have pains across stomach from stretching too, but this genuinely feels like surgery has just been done (so I guess it will still feel like this in a month!)

The area around is sore, but the actual scar line feels almost like an open wound. I want to put a dressing over it so that fabric doesn't rub IYSWIM.

It's definitely just that line too. It feels bruised around it, but even the slightest tickle on the actual scar line makes me wince a bit.

GlastonburyGoddess · 25/06/2010 23:04

lol at the bath salts, reminds me of my first bath after being cut and stitched with ds1. MIL put salt in the bath...well Ive never taken such a quick bath, I sat down, then shot out like a startled cat...oh the pain!

stac14 · 26/06/2010 00:07

wwsw that does sound nice. I had a bath today and had to lay down after it as i was roasting. I agree bout the wipes for loo as the paper in the hospital could cos damage

gracie whats the mw said? Maybe it is due to lo's size. Think our girls are causing problems already eh?

Ouch glaston bet that caused strained relations with mil lol. I used a rubber ring following ds's birth

kkfairybrains · 26/06/2010 04:55

gracie its probably the old scar tissue stretching or something?has baby dropped?this might be why.
eh had loads to say and reply to there but have forgotten everything! well its 4:49 in the morn and im wide awake and sitting in sitting room with a mug of hot choc. but its making me sweat loads.so frustrated ii've slept for a grand total of about half an hour tonight. fell asleep fine and woke with a real bad pain and thought things were starting because it was going around my back but it lasted about a minute and went and hasn't came back since!! never thought i'd want a pain like that to come back! and then dozed for a few minutes again and woke up because was having a bad dream. and havent slept since so am major pissed off because im not going to be in any mood for this baby shower and to be honest i'd prefer to call it off. sounds really ungreatful but im just not going to get any sleep.
on a happier note i got my highlights done last night and they're lovely! feel a million times better!
anyway enough rambling from me!can you tell im really bored?!

memphis83 · 26/06/2010 07:54

gracie think kk is right about scar stretching as scar tissue doesnt like to be stretched my recent scars on my belly have gone very red and sore as baby has dropped.
well i slept ok last night but we have bottle banks mear us and i got woke up at 5am by 2 kids with their dad launching bottles in there! not happy at all! i went toilet and had the worst pressure in my back (and backside) i couldnt get off loo for about 10 minutes! think lo was trying to burrow out!
wwsw ive got mw on tuesday and she wasnt expecting me to be at appointment she was expecting to see me on a home visit by then so im frustrated! dh is at a golf tournament all day so im hoping the threat of him not being here will start me off, my friend is coming to see me today so i will be doing everything i can to bring baby out, i was on the wii fit for nearly an hour last night before bed!

violetbubbles · 26/06/2010 08:35

Morning everyone!

Just pulling together my playlist for the c-section. So pleased that they let you play your own music - should make me feel more relaxed during the procedure!

kkfairybrains - I'm exactly the same. I haven't slept any later than 5.15am all week. And when I do manage to sleep it's broken every 1.5hours when I have to get up to pee/adjust bump . I'm sure that you'll enjoy your baby shower once it gets started...and you'll get lots of cute gifts for LO .

Stac14 - hope you're not struggling too much in the heat. I'm finding it quite a challenge but cola flavoured ice poles are helping...and blue Slush Puppies. There's a great ice cream parlour on Victoria Road called Big Licks and I'd recommend visiting that for some chilled refreshments if you can .

Someone mentioned 'bagging' outfits. I've done this too. Got ziplock bags from IKEA and separated outfits into sizes etc so that I don't have to faff around in my case at the start.

Heading out to the shops soon - need to make a last minute dash to Primark and Boots...then that should be me all sorted - yay! .

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/06/2010 08:52

Morning all,

I just had a thought, you ladies having your babies very soon, you are going to stay on this thread once they're born aren't you?
Dont start a post-natal thread without us as there could be very few people left on this thread by the end of July!
Then once we've all got our babies we can start a post-natal thread IF we still have the time to even come on here!

Ive got to go food shopping this morning, then off to the beach this afternoon with DP cos the weather is hot hot hot down here this weekend, going to paddle in the sea

OP posts:
violetbubbles · 26/06/2010 09:30

Paddling in the sea? I'm v jealous DH21

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/06/2010 09:59

lol violet my feet could really do with it! Its actually quite cloudy and not hugely warm at the mo though, hoping it all changes this afternoon after they promised a scorching weekend.

OP posts:
memphis83 · 26/06/2010 10:18

dh hope clouds clear up for you so you can enjoy the beach! i will be staying on the thread its about the only thing thats kept me sane some days!!
kk have a great shower, im sure you will have fun catching up with friends then you can relax when its all over while looking at all your lovely gifts!
violet you reminded me about playlist i have probably only got 3 albums on i pod that would be suitable for giving birth too, i made my friend put songs on b4 so i will have to learn how to put music on it myself dont want baby being born to ACDC or anything hard rock! we are allowed our own music but you cant use plugs to plug in phones or i pod docks so i had to buy a travel dock!
still got pain in back and feel constipated but i know im not?!?!?!? dh just left for golf and im ashamed to admit i cried as i just had a wave of fear about baby coming anf being alone! so strange havent been worried at all about it but its just hit home its all so close!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 26/06/2010 10:29

kk poor you....took me ages to drop off last night then dd was up at 3 and 4 so feel pretty tired today. Aiming for a nap again this afternoon when dh takes dd to the school fair! Hope the party goes well later

memphis you did wii fit! omg, you are good. I can just about manage to cook dinner, clear up and then water the garden. It's hardly strenuous but I feel shattered after that!

violet I haven't thought about music this time, with dd I had a great playlist but I'm not too bothered at the moment. I didn't really hear it coz I was concentrating so much! I think dh wants it more than I do! If I was having a section I would definitely have it sorted though.

dh that's a good idea, we all hang out here til we're ready to move to postnatal Jealous of you getting a paddle in the sea, our beach is 10 mins drive away and unless we go right now there would be nowhere to park! Will have to be content with the paddling pool today

V hot here today. Already in shorts and bikini top with floaty thing over the top! Got some chores to do today, but my tummy is off again, thinking positively it's a good sign that I'm clearing out but it's making me feel pretty icky! Will watch what I eat today I think...

memphis83 · 26/06/2010 10:35

wwsw wasnt a case of doing it to keep fit i just think if i did a bit of frantic hula hooping, king fu, marching band and lunges it would get baby to shift, it worked for one of my friends but didnt for the other! i ended up doubled up on sofa trying to catch my breath but i can handle that over a flight of stairs

WickedWitchSouthWest · 26/06/2010 10:45

Hula?!! oh dear god! My problem with anything exercise related is that I'm really competitive and just can't do things gently! So I know if I got on the wii fit, I'd see my record on the hula and HAVE to try and beat it... I think I'll stick to gardening

Gracie123 · 26/06/2010 11:07

Oooh! We haven't had the wii fit out in ages.

I'm going to weigh myself on it just before I go in for section so it can tell me how amazing I am when I weigh in a week later

stac MW says it's normal, but she hasn't even looked at it. DH says it's changed (I can't see that low!) but it was flat and white and now it's raised and purple. Been chatting to my sis, and she reckons I should see GP on monday. Apparently hers didn't look like this and she only had her babies 15 months apart!

kittykat77 · 26/06/2010 12:30

Afternoon everyone.

It is sooo hot here. I keep getting lots of mild contraction-type pains every so often, and thinking that something is about to happen, and then it all goes away again

To make things worse my mum and dad are going away tomorrow for a week, and they are the ideal people to look after DD and DS when it does all happen. THey are only going 80 miles away and said they will come back if I need them to but having a slight panic in case things happen too quickly. DH also works 50 miles away, so am panicing that I may be here on my own with the 2 kids if anything was to happen next week. Doesn't help when people think its great to tell me about very quick 3rd births... like it all happening with only 30 mins notice...guess I will just have to keep my legs crossed and hope for the best

Gracie I dread to think what I weigh at the moment. Think I will avoid the scales and just go on a few weeks after the birth!
