morning! lol at all the men, they're all the same - my DH keeps going on about how tired he is and what a bad night's sleep he's had when i know full well he has been snoring away whilst i'm the one lying there awake! Last night I slept ok, but the baby had its feet in my ribs all night so turning over was so uncomfortable.

Had 38 week docs appoint yesterday, all measuring on track and she said in terms of size - it feels about 38 weeks (!) what does that mean? I suppose she meant it feels about right for dates but it didn't seem very technical to me!

Have a lovely child-free day off today, am trying to get little jobs done and then i might have a nice sleep after lunch - bliss!

Good luck for today Stac
Hope you get over lurgy quickly Gracie - I had a horrible sore throat on weds but it seems to have gone now, hope yours is the same...

NorkyButNice · 18/06/2010 11:32

Morning all!

Wow I'm so jealous of all you ladies nearing the 39 weeks mark! 36+3 here and counting.

I had my midwife appt yesterday and she doesn't want to see me again till 39 weeks - is that normal? I've got a growth scan at 38 weeks so will see someone briefly after that, but I won't be having the normal midwife checks.

I fully sympathise to all those with "poorly" DH's - Mine is a complete hypochondriac! He was really good at DS' birth though so I have every faith in him this time round.

memphis83 · 18/06/2010 13:18

norky my mw sees people at 36,38,40 then 41 for a sweep if needed.

well ladies ive just come back from my reflexology, i wonder why ive never had it before it was AMAZING, ive never felt so relaxed, im booked in for another session monday as shes away on a course all week but doesnt think i will be there due to movements baby was making! she touched my heels and said lets wake him up and he went mad in there, while i was in there my belly went very flat and wide, very strange, and now ive got lower back ache, i will keep it up once ive had lo i feel so chilled out! dont think it would start labour if it does dh is 4 hours away in kent and with friday traffic!!!

Gracie123 · 18/06/2010 14:00

memphis be very careful with reflexology. I really hope you have seen this woman's credentials.

I'm sure she is absolutely fine and did a special course for maternity reflex, but you can't just see a normal reflexologist.

I studied reflexology, my first certificate did not allow me to work on pregnant women at all, and second one allows me to work, but never touch heels as these are uterus/ovaries and someone who doesn't know what they are doing could cause all kinds of problems!

That said, it is an amazing treatment, which I love, and as long as she is definitely qualified to do it, go for it!! It's just that there are no regulations, so anyone can call themselves a reflexologist without actually having done much/any training. Some cowboy colleges let you do a day course I had to study for two years .

Make sure her certificate is with someone reputable e.g. VTCT, IHHT.

Sorry to put a dampener on things, just want everyone to know so they don't all go to random therapists who could do more damage than good!

Lurgy is disgusting. Feel like I am going to die! Fortunately my sister is being very helpful. DH has very unhelpfully volunteered to do an extra 5 hours work on sunday - his only day off. Why????

We are leaving this job in 3 weeks!! Why is he still sucking up to his stupid bosses!!!

Maybe I can make him sick before then, so he has to take a day off and share DS care with me

Gracie123 · 18/06/2010 14:04

p.s. some of you might be grateful for squeamish partners in the end. My BiL was so fascinated by the surgery (section) that he completely forgot to acknowledge my sisters presence and kept asking the dr's Q's!!!

Even worse, he announced that my niece was a boy (to which the dr shouted 'no! no! it's a girl - she's just a bit swollen) and then announcing that they were removing her uterus (again the Dr jumped in with 'Placenta') but my sister really didn't find his bedside manner to be very helpful, despite his lack of squeamishness..

stac14 · 18/06/2010 14:20

hey ladies, went to get my trace done and mw says shes active and the heartbeat is fine. Doc came to see me and said all seems fine but any change in movement then i've to go in straight away but otherwise just to go for scan and clinic on wednesday. Thanks for the reassurance ladies.

mlic, memphis and dh i was awake till bout 4.30, too warm and the dog snoring. Dp and i had a moaning session at each other so i sent him to the couch lol.

gracie poor you with the dreaded lurgy hope you feel better soon. X

stac14 · 18/06/2010 14:31

I sympathis with hypocondric dh/dp's i am fed up hearing about his illnesses or aches. I just tell him to deal with it, i wont have time to nurse maid him when babies here.

orange glad alls good your end. memphis reflexology but do agree with gracie about the therapìst just in care x

memphis83 · 18/06/2010 16:23

gracie dont worry i searched for thoroughly she is a qualified one specialising in pregnancy and overdue women, i was gutted when i realised she could have looked after me all the way through and ive only just picked up on it now, its relaxed me so much and i had missed my massages through pregnancy! my midwife also recommended her and i saw all her qualifications.
stac thats great news about trace. hope you get a better night sleep tonight.

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/06/2010 16:45

Hi all,

Just got back from town with my friend, was just what I needed, got me out the flat for a few hours and I didnt spend much money!

LO is squirming away in there now

Went to the toilet in Marks & Spencer and was just about to leave and a woman in the queue started saying "oh not long left for you now then, I can see he's dropped already" then proceeded to TOUCH MY BUMP makes me very annoyed I dont even like MIL doing this yet a complete stranger in a public loo thinks its fine GRR. Also he hasnt "dropped", well not completely, my bump has always been low as you ladies know because Im tall, so there!

Jojobil · 18/06/2010 17:19

Poor DH it's horrid when people think they can touch you....
Stac I am gld the results were all good
Gracie I hope you feel better soon!

I have a different dilemma. My older cat, who has always been a weirdo started pooing in the laundry basket and all over the house.. She tries to claw me and over the last nine years I have been trying to attend to her needs, but with a second one coming I don't see her getting better and I think she is unhappy... And I am seriously considering finding her someone with no kids or other pets.... I feel very guilty though.

kkfairybrains · 18/06/2010 20:11

dh you should have touched her boob and see how she likes it! very annoying!
stac gald you got on ok i'd say your mind is at ease now.x
well no news here im on my last client of the day and then im FINISHED! yay! cant wait to be doing nothing and putting my feet up! have carpal tunnel syndrome now and my hands are so sore so not a great combination bein a hairdresser with fingers that dont move as they should!

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/06/2010 20:24

stac sorry I didnt see your post before, glad everything is ok, now you can try to relax and enjoy the last few weeks (well theres always hope!)

LOL kk that would have been hilarious, unfortunately I kind of just mumbled thanks and shuffled off!

OP posts:
memphis83 · 18/06/2010 21:43

kk welcome to maternity leave, put those scissors down and put your feet up!!
jojo dont feel guilty if you do end up making the decision to find your cat a new home then you wouldnt have made it lightly and if thats the decision you make it will be because it will make for a happier life for your cat.
dh how annoying ive only had one stranger do it and i just looked at her like she was stupid til she got the picture! im dreading it if anyone trys to touch lo when hes here ive gone for a pushchair that faces me so people have to pass me to get to him
my dh is working tomorrow morning my whole house is tidy the only thing i need to do is pick up the bag from my mums that i want to use as my hospital bag, what an exciting life i lead!!

Jojobil · 18/06/2010 21:55

Thank you memphis I needed the support. x

WickedWitchSouthWest · 18/06/2010 22:22

evening all

gracie thanks for the info, have just checked out the therapist I was planning on booking in with - she does pregnancy massage and reflexology among other things and her website says she has FICHT(AAP)(ARP) , MHFST, MPACT, IIHHT Dip. Reflexology, Dip. Counselling so I'm thinking she's safe Hope I can get an appointment now!

dh I've not had anyone touch me yet, I think I must give off some very strong "touch me and I'll rip your fucking head off" type vibes I just find the comments irritating. Also an older woman TUTTED at me the other day - I was just walking around the local shops getting bits and bobs! Obviously being this pregnant is 'unsavoury' to some. Can't wait to be bf in public again, these old bats better have some dutch courage before they make any comments!

jojo I totally agree with memphis. Maybe have a chat with her vet and see what they suggest?

memphis my dh was very much of the admin end but I just curled up in a ball to give birth to dd so he had no choice . He hates hospitals, needles, blood etc but was an absolute rock, AND he cut the cord. Surprised me no end!

Right, footie has finished (and was RUBBISH) so I'm off to bed! Night all!

stac14 · 19/06/2010 01:58

evening all, awake as usual. Thanks for the kind words. It has calmed me a bit but still watching her movement. Just be glad when shes here so i can keep an eye on her.

jojo defo dont feel guilty bout rehoming the cat, sometimes pets and babies clash. Could be that the cat ends up scratching or biting lo. I know its hard hun

wonder the footy was crap today. Hope you get a good nights sleep and anyone else who's struggling x

Jojobil · 19/06/2010 06:55

Thanks girls! I spoke to a lovely lady at cats protection and she said I am doing my puss a favour. She is on the list now and they of course have a no destruction policy and kitties needs are number 1 priority. so fingers crossed she will find a home that will take her on with love and patience....
stac I slept ok the last two nights so am feeling much better! Still wake up between 4 and 5am and have multiple trips to the loo, which unfortunately is downstairs. But it is so much better, then not sleeping until 2am....
10 days till Frank makes his appearance! I wonder is someone will be before me! I find school runs really hard now, walking, cooking and all is a real challenge at nearly 38 weeks... I hope you are putting your feet up and hubbies are making you breakfast as this is the last few weekends ladies!

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/06/2010 08:08

Morning all,

It feels so early, Ive been awake for half an hour with a bad headache and very sore fanjo. Im guessing this is LO pressing on things down there?

memphis I also have a pushchair that faces me when LO is really tiny, then he can face forward when he's big enough to sit up on his own. Its odd I wouldnt dream of touching a pregnant woman's stomach, or anyone's stomach come to that! What goes through people's minds??

LOL wwsw I wish I gave off that vibe! I get ALOT of stares, dont think anyone has given me a "bad" one as yet. Tutting is just disgraceful though, Id feel inclined to say something if someone did that to me.

jojo I hope you manage to sort things out for your cat, I know it must be so hard. Good luck!

DH made me yummy eggs and bacon breakfast! I told him yesterday it is our last week or so and he took it to heart

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good baby monitor?

Jojobil · 19/06/2010 09:41

I am doing some last washing, muslins and little vests that I haven't done yet. Just received a new mattress for the moses basket as I got it after a friend... It's all here!

Gracie123 · 19/06/2010 10:24

Feel like I actually might die this morning!!!
Just found out DH has an away match to cover (he only got the email 10mins ago ) so in one hour he will be off on a bus and won't be back til late tomorrow eve, despite Sunday being his only day off!
Unfortunately he is also teaching this morning, thanks to traffic/diversion on M6 we didn't get home from 'rents until 3.30am last night, so I'll have to unpack a weeks worth of crap from the car myself

oh yeah, and ds is still sick and crying and wiping snot on everything he comes into contact with

sorry to moan. Just having a crap morning already.

Agree with others about people touching bumps and babies. I had post natal psychosis and was scared to leave the house after DS was born because all the unsterile people wanted to touch him! I'm hoping to be a bit more relaxed about it this time. Have however got rear facing pram and buggy with big hood
