vik my consultant gave me piriton. but if he wont prescribe anything my pregnany magazine recommended a hayfever wax they sell it in boots anf holland and barratts, its a balm that you put around nostrils and its supposed to stop the pollen going up your nose, my bro uses it as he suffers and he said it relieved his symptoms!
orange clary sage is an essential oil you put a few drops in your bath or add it to the carrier oil and massage bump, boobs and upper thighs, i did it monday and last night and went to bed having pains last night but they didnt go anywhere but think it is possibly doing something!
mlic that wilkes is a knob! i think its refreshing to finally see a skinny celeb looking pregnant and loving it rather than hiding away i think she looks fab! i also hate the way mags write about denise van outen saying look 10 days after birth she back to normal, when she says its not about losing weight its how you dress to hide your tummy with empire lines!
dh enjoy your drive, and desperate housewives, i really like that programme! and last nights was very good!

kkfairybrains · 17/06/2010 11:09

yay for the new car dh! enjoy your drive! i stil haven't got around to selling mine yet!
wwsw lol at writing it on the forehead! think thats what i need to do! absolutley nothing has been discussed with me either and cant see that changing. if it wasnt for talking to other people i wouldnt have a clue what to expect
have my second antw natal class today! kinda crap though cos ive been working since 9 this morn and just have a colour on now and not gonna finish til 9 tonight! and ante natal in the middle of it! oh well its my last long day so i wont complain!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/06/2010 11:28

Im quite scared about driving this car for the first time on my own, when I first drove our last car DP was with me (as it was his car).

July Pregnancy & Birth mag is out now if anyone is interested!! Think I might wait til Sat to buy though as we're having a quiet weekend (finally!)

Right Im going to brave it and drive to Tesco now!

kapars · 17/06/2010 11:46

dh We just bought a car too after not having one for a year and the last time I drove was when I was living in Abu Dhabi last year where everyone drives like nutters and on the other side. I was a bit nervous too but loving it now! It's so good to have a car once more.

kk My midwife care has been useless all pregnancy. Have only ever had a five minute appointment which she rushes through and then rushes you out the door. Not discussed birth plan or anything and I'm not seeing her again now til 38 weeks (I'm 37 tomorrow).
But she is a community midwife and based at a different hospital where I will have my baby and she knows nothing about the procedures at my hospital which I only happened to find out by about by calling and booking myself into antenatal classes there. Its very hit and miss on the NHS!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/06/2010 12:30

kapars blimey now I def would be terrified driving there!

Back from tesco now, the drive wasnt too bad, got back in one piece at least!

Wrt midwives, mine is useless too, she forgets who I am at every visit, asks me every single time if I know what Im having. Shes very brisk and if I ask her anything she gives me the shortest answer possible. My visits literally last a few mins.

dh just gone and bought pregnancy and birth magazine so im going to sit in the sun and read it, just think when the next one comes out we could be mums!!
my mw is really good remembers everything down to me laughing about dh falling off shed roof and crying about looking terrible at the wedding we went to! sadly she is off for a month from my edd as shes getting married!
been into town to go boots and ended up doubled up in pain, i was laughing as it eased off and poor girl on till looked very pale and worried! ive booked in for tomorrow morning with a specialist maternity reflexologist, she has a 100% success rate of starting labour, 30% of her patients have contractions during session, im prepared for ruining her success rate and have actually booked another sesion for next week 2!!!

Anifersgirl · 17/06/2010 14:16

Ladies - not to put a downer on things, but all of you who are trying to bring on early labour really need to take a look at this news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/10274047.stm

I know you're all eager to meet your new LOs but really - keep 'em cooking until 40 weeks if poss!

Mookymoo · 17/06/2010 14:21

Hello everyone, thanks for the tip off about Pregnancy and birth, must nip down to the shops in a bit to grab it.
DH21 new car sounds great, have managed to scratch mine a couple of times during pregnancy due to not being able to turn around to look properly when reversing

Been on a huge clear out mission this morning, we moved into our place in December and the spare room has been a general dumping ground. Managed to fill 5 bin bags...wondering if the sudden energy is related to anything else, fingers crossed!!
Has anyone else had pregnancy shiatsu? Finally cracked after waking up with hip and knee pain again at 6am and have booked myself in for Monday. Have had a few sessions a couple of years ago but no experience of the maternity sessions

Jojobil · 17/06/2010 14:37

Yes Anifers you tell them! Your babies lungs might not be ready yet girls.... Don't rush things. I am having my elective at 39 weeks and that's the earliest they do them now, unless there is something wrong and baby needs to come out asap.

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/06/2010 14:49

Glad I could help memphis and mookymoo I actually mark it on my calendar when the next mag is coming out! I bet Im still pregnant when the July one comes out though.

Im just making microwave popcorn and going to watch the film I recorded now

OP posts:
memphis83 · 17/06/2010 14:59

anifers if i thought i was only 37 weeks i would be letting him cook without trying to get him moving, but mw and consultant both agree that they think my dates are out by 2 weeks and i am really at 39 weeks its just that eventhough sonographer didnt move my dates even though he is measuring 2 weeks ahead all the way along they wont change the date, mw has given me go ahead for reflexology which they wouldnt do unless it was due date.
its not invasive reflexoligy which is apparently quite painful to almost force labour, this is a very relaxing method and if he isnt ready he wont be forced out!

stac14 · 17/06/2010 16:39

hey ladies, thanks for getting back to me regarding lo's scan. But what has happened is she was scanned a fortnight ago to check growth and yesterday when she was scanned again the sonographer said the measurements were the same therefore it doesnt look like she has grown. I know how inaccurate they can be especially after ds but the peadiatrician kept talking about sick babies and lo not getting enough nutrients from me etc. Luckily the scan showed there is plenty of amniotic fluid and the blood flow to through the cord is perfect. I have to go tomorrow for a heart trace on lo. Has anyone else experienced no growth betweeh growth scans?

How are you all today? Again I havent managed to catch up as I am still at my aunts ans she must be the biggest techophobe I know, cant even turn on a comp let alone use the internet lol

It is so warm here today our little dog is panting away. and I am trying to stay indoors lol

viksam doc gave me a nasal spray for congestion which she said wouldnt have a bearing on lo at all

Anyway hvae to shoot off, will pop back for a read and post later hope your all good xx

WickedWitchSouthWest · 17/06/2010 19:26

anifers it's ok, I'm not going for an early baby - I'm 39 weeks on Monday so I'm just aiming for "on time"!

I walked up to dd's new school to collect her after her settling in session and I have killed my hips and pelvis, total achy agony now Mum has told me off - apparently I look exhausted and very pale so must slow down a bit. Thing is at this stage with dd I was getting up at 10 and parking in a chair for most of the day, maybe a little yoga, bit of a bounce on the ball but this time there's another person to care for and it's knackering! I so hope I have another fast labour or I don't think I'm going to manage! DH is due home late tonight, can't wait! Just need to make him realise how much rest I actually need at the mo...

Sorry, I didn't mean to moan!

mlic oh I was like that with dd! I can't believe how different this pregnancy is - I mean I was in the gym 3 times a week right up til I popped. I really enjoyed my walk earlier but it was properly hurting earlier! Just exhausted now...My body is definitely telling me to take it easy. Just need to convince the husband of that now! I really want some reflexology, but I'm thinking a pedi is required first!

lol the groin hurts after walking doesn't it! I just don't seem to get chance to sit down at the mo...dd is at preschool every day but that's only 2.5 hours and I do housework in that time, although I make sure I get 45 mins to myself before collecting her. I have half an hour after clearing lunch and another half an hour after tea. Have pointed out to dh that he at least is sat on his arse all day . Never mind, Friday tomorrow and she has swimming lesson in the afternoon which is a whole extra half hour sit down time for me!!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 17/06/2010 21:32

forgot to say, enjoy your day off tomorrow

stac I was once told ds had shrunk! The consultant just laughed and said the measurments must have been wrong at the earlier scan. Apparently the scans are only accurate when the baby is in certain positions. If its moving, or even just curled up, it can be difficult to measure.

Try not to worry. I'm sure the trace will show nothing wrong.

I have caught the dread kid lurgi off ds been up all night coughing. Very swollen throat and loads of green snot.

Yuck yuck YUCK!

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/06/2010 10:02

Morning all

Woke up at 4am to go to the toilet and couldnt get back to sleep for half hour cos DP was snoring I kicked him a couple of times to get him to shut up, luckily he finally turned on his side which always shuts him up but god it was annoying.

Meeting my friend in town this afternoon so hopefully the weather will cheer up a bit, its gloomy here.

I made my dad's fathers day card yesterday which Im very proud of DP's got a shop bought one from LO lol.

My friend who had a baby the other week said she didnt use a single thing from her hospital bag! So I wont go over the top, just some clothes and nappies and maternity pads.

LO's movements have def changed now, the baby websites have been telling me for ages that they will become more squirmy rather than big kicks and they have only just started to be like that. I still get a very sharp elbow poking out my left side every now and then!

OP posts:
memphis83 · 18/06/2010 10:18

gracie poor you with the lurgi, nice description of the green snot!!!
stac good luck with trace today will be thinking of you!
dh well done making a card, ive bought all the stuff to make new baby cards and not got round to it yet! (cant be bothered) my LO has been squirming for weeks i find it more painful than when he used to kick!
my dh got up for work at 4.30 and i hadnt managed to get to sleep by that point then he rang me at 6.30 to see how i was...hmmmm asleep!!we also had a huuuuge argument yesterday that spiralled into everything, then when i was wound up i asked him what my birth plan was and he said natural with no drugs!!! felt like he hadnt listened to me for past 9 months! in his defence he said his idea of natural is no epidural or c section!! so that means all other drugs are natural??? i have a feeling he will be rubbish when it comes to it and am considering not having him there! think i could do better on my own without worrying about him fainting!

memphis I feel your pain lol. DP cut his finger fiddling around on the car the other day and you'd think he'd lost his whole hand. To be fair it bled ALOT but once the drama had calmed down anyone would just stick a plaster on and forget about it, oh no not him, he went white and had to sit down and felt faint and still goes on about it now (it happened on Tues night). Im now very worried how HE'S going to cope at the birth not me!

OP posts:
memphis83 · 18/06/2010 11:04

mlic i hope your right, although i dont want him down that end, i would like him to cut the cord, if he doesnt then i plan too!
dh as soon as my dh says ooooh my.... i say dont start, im very close to pushing out a baby i dont want to hear it! his favourite one this week is ooh my back! when i can hardly stand straight 1st thing with my back! i just give him the look and he shuts up! i had a canular in hospital he was on other side of curtain and just thinking of it being done he had to sit down! thank god my mum is going to be there as back up!
