spirael you just reminded me that as I was dropping off last night I thought of theatre tickets She loves jazz so I might try and find a jazz club/cafe nearby and treat her.
It's not lazy to have two changing points btw, esp with a newborn you'd be up the stairs every hour and a half! We've got a basket of stuff in the living room and the rest in our bedroom. I'm looking at getting a changing table for this one though, changing DD on our bed is doing my back in!

kapars · 14/06/2010 11:53

Glad to hear all is well Anifers and lo safe and sound.
gracie I like both Mei and Beatrice but think Elisha Mei sounds prettier than Elisha Beatrice but I also think Elisha-Mei Beatrice Gracie sounds lovely. Go for it! We also considered Mei spelt like that also.
dee I?m same age as you and this is also my first baby!
stac sorry you missed your shower. Hope you are feeling better today.

I had a hectic weekend with girl friends with new babies around yesterday afternoon, followed by my dh?s friends after they got back from the gym so was non stop entertaining. After sleeping really well all pregnancy I?ve started waking up really early and not being able to get back to sleep.

beckyg123 · 14/06/2010 11:55

Oh DH i have a million things to do and here i am, avoiding the "to do" list again!!! so can't help!

Really need to get my HIP grant form filled out and posted, got a few other things to post so might take the dog for a walk to post box!

chulita we have a changing table set up- didn't know if it was too much and unneccesary (didn't buy it, was a hand me down from SIL) so glad to hear you think one would be useful It is a lovely one from mamas and papas!

Chulita · 14/06/2010 12:36

Jojobil · 14/06/2010 14:17

kapars · 14/06/2010 14:53

jojobil our minds are too full of babies now keeping the brain over-active!

orangefizz · 14/06/2010 14:57

Hello all, haven't been on here for months, have been super busy moving house, finishing work etc that I'm afraid I gave up with MN, but would like to join back in for the last few weeks - can't believe I have less than 3 weeks until due date - aaagh and DD1 was born the equivalent of this Friday at 37 + 5 which is scary!!

Todays mission is to properly pack hospital bag - got a fright yesterday morning when woke up with pains (which turned out to be gas I think ) and thought I really should be more organised as the real thing could happen anytime!!

Haven't been able to catch up on many of the previous posts so hope everyone is doing well - have there been any early arrivals from any of the July ladies??

stac14 · 14/06/2010 15:26

hi ladies, how are you all? Feel totally sleep deprived at the moment, i tossed and turned all night. Still trying to get my blood sugar levels sorted but not in loads of pain which is good.

I haven't decided whether or not to go for the boots changing bag as my pram has one that comes with it so i think that will be fine.

Welcome back orange is that you on mat leave now?

dh total cabin fever my end, loads to be done but i'm avoiding it like the plague lol you feeling better from yesterday?

chulita think beckys idea is good, i love goodie bags especially as it means the friends really thought bout what i like x

Chulita · 14/06/2010 15:31

TBH stac I found the Boots one too small and I didn't like the shape. I ended up giving it to my mum for a project bag!

Not long left now ladies, this is the bit that'll drag but 4 or 6 weeks compared to 8 months is nothing!

Welcome back orange

stac14 · 14/06/2010 16:11

think its cause its the bit we want to come more quickly isnt it chulita my days seems to be longer x

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/06/2010 16:33

becky Ive done some of the things I said I would do today but now watching sex and the city with a cuppa tea!

stac yeah Im feeling much better thanks, Im also not really getting sleep at night, tossing and turning trying to get comfy, then up and down to the toilet at LEAST twice then my hips start hurting. So had an hour and a half nap this afternoon and feel much better
Also I was looking at the boots changing bags online earlier, they were the only ones I liked the design and price, my mum said she would buy it for me but feel I dont want to ask for anything too expensive.

chulita if you dont recommend the boots changing bags is there any you can? I just dont know where to start looking, it needs to be neautral colours and preferably not over £50.

My little baby clothes are hanging on the airer, they look so sweet!

kittykat77 · 14/06/2010 16:37

Afternoon everyone. Looks like there are quite a few of us who have started maternity leave now

Mum has took the kids off this afternoon and is having them overnight - so I have had a nap for about 2 hours, so far so good, could get used to this!

chulita and stac I am definately hoping this bit goes quickly - I am getting really fed up now of only being able to move about and do things at the speed of a 90 yr old woman! But as u say - in the scheme of things we haven't got long to go at all. I think if this baby waits until 40 weeks though I may be going slightly mad...! Hope everyone is managing to get some relaxing done. Am just thinking of attacking my mess of a kitchen since the kids are not here...

stac14 · 14/06/2010 17:21

whats metanium? X

Chulita · 14/06/2010 18:08

Metanium's a bum cream - made DD's skin fall off though so we don't use it, most of my friends swear by it (DD's very sensitive to all sorts of creams)

dh I just used a small backpack with DD but I'm realising it's never going to fit enough for two. I saw a lady at the toddler group with a fab bag from Boden but they've sold out I'm waiting for their Autumn stuff to come out then I'll see if I like it. Otherwise I'm no good with bags.

Anyone else recommend good changing bags?

orangefizz · 14/06/2010 18:19

Thanks for the welcome backs . Yes I am on mat leave, I have to say MLIC that I have had two weeks now where DD is in nursery for 2 days a week and I have been off and it is soooo nice, I love her to bits but just to have that time to yourself is fantastic, I never know whether to get loads done or just sleep!!

I have an OiOi changing bag which is really good, but they are a bit pricey - it was a present when DD was born and I still use it now.

I washed and ironed all the baby clothes the other day - so tiny and cute - hard to believe how little the baby will be sure it won't feel that little on its way out!!!

Anifersgirl · 14/06/2010 18:22

Hey All

Been catching up on thread. Quite envious of you guys on maternity leave now. I've still got six weeks of work left!

Back at work today after my mishap last week. Seems like an email did the rounds saying that I'd been in a car crash and was in hospital and they were waiting to see how the baby was, so today I've had everyone shocked to see me and thinking I'd been in a horrific head on collision or something! Really lovely to know how worried everyone was though and how much they all care even if I do feel really guilty for all the worry I caused!

My cousin came over yesterday - she's just qualified in reflexology and gave me a long old session. SO relaxing. I slept for three hours afterwards, which I needed, as I'd been to a world cup party on Saturday night and not got to bed until 3am. So, highly recommend that for everyone

Sounds like everyone is having healthier weeks this week too after last week's traumas! Although am I the only one still enjoying pregnancy and not wishing my LO to arrive early?

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/06/2010 18:23

chulita if my mum hadnt offered to buy me one I prob wouldnt even bother but as shes offered Id be mad to say no! I hadnt thought to look at boden, will have a look a bit later.

OP posts:
Chulita · 14/06/2010 18:32

One of the ladies on the August thread got this one I didn't know they did changing bags so expensive!

anifers I just suggested to DH that he book me some reflexology, after what you've said I definitely want to try it!

Anifersgirl · 14/06/2010 18:45

chulita I had a chum who had a gorgeous Kath Kidson changing bag, but it weighed a ton and she used to use the boots freebie one (which is the one I'm going to go for just as soon as I get to Boots!)

DeeLite · 14/06/2010 19:02

Ah, missed your details, Kapars. Let's agree not to share birthdays so we can both assume we're the younger of the two of us!

I was thinking of getting a fairly unisex changing bag so that DH will be happy to carry it too. North Face have a nice messenger bag in yellow / green which I have my eye on. Cath Kidston's changing bags are lovely but there's no way DH will carry a floral bag .

I got through quite a few change bags with ds (all passed on from friends) but have to say my favourite out of all, which we will continue to use is £8 in aldi. Comes in red or black, so DH friendly too. We bought ours last year, but afriend has just told me they have them back in this summer.

Loads of netted pockets for sun cream etc... Thermal pockets for milk/bottles, sealable wet bag in case you use real diapers, mobile phone holder on the strap, internal clip for keys so you don't have to fumble for them, and easily enough room for wipes/diapers for two - so super useful!

I don't think there is another one on the Market that competes price wise.
