chulita i bought the changing mat the clips onto top of cot from mothercare as i couldnt find a changing station to match cot! serves me right for being picky and wanting an unusual coloured cot! dh's friend is a bit 'chavvy' and has just bought his son a burberry changing bag i think it cost a few hundred, i dont see the point in such expensive things for a newborn, i wasnt happy when he had the cheek to call dh tight because our baby wont be draped in labels!
on subject of boots free bag i got mine and im using it to take baby things into hospital so i dont get my nice one dirty, i will then keep essentials in it at my mums so i dont have to lug loads to hers every week.
on the subject of curry bringing you on i think it would only really work if your not into spices, im not going to bother as i have hot currys and eat chillies from the jar all the time so my body must be used to it, i have bought clary sage and epo today the max strength ones from boots!! here hoping! and booking reflexology and probably accupuncture tomorrow!!

nixster28 · 14/06/2010 20:14

Dh & Stac I hope you sleep better tonight glad your not in too much pain tho stac

I got this changing bag which was rrp £75 but I got an absolute bargain off ebay for £23 and it looks good as new. Lots of pockets, changing mat and bottle bag but still wouldn't pay £75

Anifers of your reflexology session and glad to hear you are back to enjoying pregnancy after the stress of last week.

Chulita those storksak changing bags are supposed to be celebrity favorites hence the celebrity price tag cannot imagine spending that much on a handbag never mind a changing bag!!

Lol lol tsc at your dh asking where would he get the sperm!!

I slept quite well last night but then went food shopping today and ame home and slept for an hour and a half! Been feeling quite warm today tho which is strange as it's not been very warm here so must just be me. Hope everyone's having a good evening.

Evening all

Had my 38 wk check today and the mw is happier that I don't look half dead this week and that I have actually taken her advice and put my feet up more often! Baby is 2/5ths and has had a growth spurt - measured 35.5 last week - 38.5 this week eeeeeek so am seeing her again next Monday and she thinks that will be the last appointment! You just watch me go horribly overdue now!

oo spirael am looking forward to a little box of goodies arriving tomorrow I quite fancy an appletiser now!

Welcome back orangefizz and tsc

Oo am so uncomfortable again tonight, aching front and back but not much in the way of tightenings grr. Can't be bothered to run a bath again so might just have a shower and put the jet on my lower back. Or just go to bed...

Love the idea of having the Boots changing bag downstairs, the pram came with a matching bag so I don't really need another but it would be fab to have stuff downstairs so dd can "help" me. (Upstairs we have a changing table which is too high for her to help).

GlastonburyGoddess · 14/06/2010 21:36

MyLifeIsChaotic-pedicure sounds nice, whens your birthday?

WickedWitchSouthWest- sounds promising about the reflexology, wonder if I could get away with bring my due date forward a little and going at 38 weeks!?

violetbubbles- Have they offered you ECV if baby hasnt moved by certain date, will you have one? I had one with ds1, he was breech, then transverse, then breech at 39+3!!! thankfully it wasnt too umcomfortable and it worked, he stayed cephalic till birth.

Spirael-Yay Im doing the appletiser thing too, excitedly awaiting arrival of the package tommorrow!

Had a really disturbed night last night, lots of loo trips and the pain in my hips kept waking me too. Luckily ds1 is scabbed over(pox) so sent him back to school today and ds2 at nursery till 1pm so I came home, made some phonecalls and slept for 2.5 hours!! bliss!

got a busy week this week, ds1 off on a school trip tommorrow and a fun run on friday, then country dancing festival on saturday!

got my sister coming down on friday-sun so not really looking forward to the weekend-we dont really ge on. they want to take both boys out sunday but Ive put my foot down and said theyre not taking ds1(in light of recent behaviours) Im not confident they handle him well and dont like the view they have of him-back last summer ds1 had meltdown in the garden as BIL teased him too far and BIL turned round and said "your a very spoilt little boy" wtf?? he also strung him up his collar when ds1 kicked him in the balls when we were out one day. I dont feel comfortable with the way they handle him if things kicked off but also if hes well behaved they'll come back all smug like "oh he was fine for us" iyswim

She also mentioned coming down again july/aug and its making me stressed already, I dont want her down as when ds1 was born, she came down when he was 3 weeks and wouldnt leave him alone, I felty like saying hes not a doll ffs. they also dragged me here there and everywhere when really I was still sore and recovering and didnt want to do anything other than sleep/rest. Oh and they turn up for a week at a time, roll up at ours midday(middle aged students) and stay round till midnight.

dp says I just need to tell her straight, but its really hard, shes really pushy and persistant....any ideas/suggestions for letting her know I dont want her about for the first 6 weeks would be great..........

glastonbury i agree with mlic just tell her straight, especially as it seems they cant cope with your ds its going to be hard enough for all of you to adapt let alone having her around if it is going to stress you out ds will be able to feel tension from you.
my sis and i do not get on, i wouldnt pee on her if she was on fire if im frank, i didnt speak to her for 3 years but for my mums sake i started talking to her, since ive been pregnant she thinks shes my best friend which i pointed out last week to her that she isnt, she has never had a man stick around and has the morals of a prostitute and speaks of men like they are all scum, she tried talking down to my dh but i woudnt have it, she can handle the fact he is excited about baby and is sticking around. she will not be visiting me for a while and she only lives doen the road! if she does i wont be answering the door
my belly feels very hot for some strange reason and lo is rummaging about in there! got mw tomorrow i hope he has dropped down more, it looks like he has my boobs are now not using belly as a push up bra!!

viksam · 14/06/2010 22:37

glasto thats a difficult situation but i have to agree with ur DH, she sounds very insensitive would she pick up on subtle hints or should u be straight up? maybe u could say u really want to get into a routine with the baby for the sake of ur other children so would appreciate it if she put her visit off for a few weeks?? Hmmmm dont envy you.
I had loads of things to say to everyone but have forgotten it all!! Silly girl!
3 days left at work!!Cant wait. Be ace not to have that sunday night feeling!!
Redundancy thing went ok but wasnt nice. Fortunatly its a way a way from where i normally work so not right on top of me which is good.
Right, off to bed for another lovely restless night!!
xx

Emster30 · 14/06/2010 22:55

I am also eagerly awaiting my Appletiser delivery tomorrow! I can't find the original thread now of what we get but I guess I'll find out...

8 more days in the office, cannot wait to finish. Had a hellish commute this morning with the Victoria line closed - so glad I don't have to do it many more times.

stac14 · 14/06/2010 23:19

evening ladies, the thread is moving so fast and i am so slow at the moment be better when i'm back on my laptop lol.

glaston i dont have a great relationship with my sis, she has a better relationship with dp but even thats strained due to her recent antics. Anyway enough bout her i agree with the others. Be straight with her, you have enough to getting on with, without bil annoying ds1 and sis using lo like a doll.

Thanks for the tip bout reflexology anifers defo going to try that

From having cabin fever i have just realised the rest of the week is pretty hectic. Have docs tomorrow, ds's class awards, wednesday i have the hospital and am getting my hair done, quiet at the mo on thursday and ds's sports awards on friday. So much for relaxing lmao. Will check in tomorrow.

Lol at dp tsc you always manage to make me laugh, good to see you back

kkfairybrains · 15/06/2010 01:15

tsc yeah your not allowed in here anymore .no we just started the list again so everyone thats here can add themselves on because there was loads who havent been back so feel free to add your details! make sure and do it right and neat though or else you'll have spireal after you!
stac glad your not in pain but crap that you cant sleep.nothing worse when your awake all night by yourself.
anifers in one way i'd love the baby to make an appearance very soon but in another way im happy for it to stay put til the very last possible second because i feel like its after coming around way too quick and dont feel like im there yet! but s/he's fully cooked now so may prepare myself!
serious pressure all day today and bit of pain. was so busy with work all day too and didnt finish til 9 o clock with no break so am pretty exhausted! felt like i could have easily went into labour! also notices the babies movements have really slowed down the last 2 days! no room left! so excited to meet him or her now!xx

Heh @ TSC's DH! I spat my tea out laughing at that!

Sorry for dumb questions, but I'm packing my hospital bag and wondering whether you physically prepare two bags - one for labour and one for overnight and whether you bring both in with you or leave the overnight one in the car?

What about baby clothes? The hospital bag checklists seem to suggest two or three outfits but what if you end up having a caesarean and are in hospital for days? Are you guys packing many clothes?

I've been given loads of hand-me-downs. They all smell freshly laundered. Can I assume they have been laundered in non-bio or should I wash them all to be certain?

Sorry again for the dumb questions. I'm pretty clueless!

Chulita · 15/06/2010 08:25

deelite I've got a hospital bag but have put a few overnight things in (I can post the list of what's in there for you if it would help) I've then got a baby bag with nappies mostly and a couple of other outfits, that'll sit in the car til we've had the lo. As for clothes I tend to wash everything, even if they smell nice just to be sure - your baby's skin is very sensitive so better to be safe I reckon!

glastonbury could you say something to your sister along the lines of 'we're not having anyone over for the first few weeks cos we'd like the DSs to settle into having a new sibling' My PILS will be a pain to shift but I'm going to be a lot firmer this time than last time. (probably helps that we'll be moving about 4 weeks after birth!)

mlic I'm very of your day to yourself. I'd love one! DD's currently transfixed by Zingzillas, only way I get to use the laptop

And yea, how did I miss out on this Appletiser thing? [sulks]

WickedWitchSouthWest · 15/06/2010 08:38

Morning all!

Off to order the new sofa this morning can't wait to get this damn room sorted out! Been going on to dh for months but came up with the ultimate sweetener - he's allowed a new tv. So now it's getting done. Men, eh?

deelite I have a small bag for labour with drinks, snacks, old nightie, fresh t shirt for dh etc in it. Then I have a holdall full of everything else. In the holdall I have put going home clothes in a carrier bag and labelled it, and baby clothes for immediate post birth in a different labelled bag so dh can just grab it without rummaging too much!

glasto eek at your sister. I'd agree with chulita, just tell her that your ds needs to have time to adjust. Or just tell her to bog off

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/06/2010 08:51

Morning all,

Im going into town to meet a friend today and her son. Will go into boots to see if I can get the free changing bag.

Seem to be getting a bit of a sore fanjo in the mornings now, like its bruised anyone else get this??

DP got the holdall down from the loft last night for the hospital bag but something tells me its not going to be big enough, the maternity pads alone take up half the space! Also re nappies, how many are people taking, shall I just stick a whole pack in there just to be on the safe side??

Morning all!

36 weeks today - I'm so hoping that LO turns up in a week! Have been having pains throughout the night but a bath and paracetamol sorted them out.

Hospital bag finally packed yesterday - I've managed to fit it all into a pretty small bag so am now worrying that I've forgotten something important! Has anyone got a list of what they've packed?

Anifersgirl · 15/06/2010 11:49

Norky I've got a list, and a bundle of stuff in a sainsbury's bag, which was all useful last week when I ended up in hospital, but I can't actually pack my hospital bag properly until the 5th as I've got a business trip and will need my bag for that!

glasto we're having the baby in a generation: three sets of new grandparents and 12 new aunts and uncles, not to mention cousins, great aunts/uncles and various hangers on (complicated family set up..) and I'm dreading all the visitors. We have a wee flat, and my mum told me last week she was planning to pitch a tent in the garden! Our deal is DH tells his family they have to leave/can't visit and I have to tell my family. Awkward all round, but it'll keep us sane hopefully..

Anifersgirl · 15/06/2010 11:54

Gasto - first baby in a generation...
