Oooh silver's got an action shot on her fb! Very impressive!

CUNextTuesday · 21/05/2010 07:56

troughing = eating you filthy bitch.

I paid the price at 3am with insane heartburn. I think it was pooface that said pesto was not a good idea in the early weeks because it's the devil's work on the way back up. I can report that it's also a bastard during acid reflux

CurlyCasper · 21/05/2010 08:29

Morning,

EXCELLENT news on the house carrots! Here's hoping it turns into a solid deal

Had our last parentcraft class last night - and she told us about the little girls bleeding thing, ski. Apparently it's called a "pseudo period". I'm so glad I know about it (from you and them) or I would have completely freaked out. Hilarious times watching all the dads in the room top and tail and change a doll...

reginaMonologue · 21/05/2010 09:12

Hi Ladies

Sorry for the silence but I've had a shit week. No, actually that's an understatement. It's been f*cking awful.

Got the results back from the down's screening the NHS do and have a 1:10 positive risk because my bloods are screwed up (3.6 mom freebeta HCG, 0.6 mom PAPPA) NT was only 2.5 mm.

Decided to go for a second opinion (where they look for more markers):-

NT: 2.1mm
Nasal bone :present
Tricuspid doppler: normal
Ductus venosus doppler: normal

Risk recalculated at 1:434 using the NHS blood results.

Now I don't know what to do. The second result is obviously much better but there is still this nagging voice in the back of my head filling me full of fear. Went to hospital yesterday and have booked for Amnio, but I still don't know if that's the right thing to do.

Anyone got any advice... anyone who did the screening, what results did you get and what did you decide to do?

The pisser of it is if I'd have had it done privately in the first place there'd have never been any doubt in my mind as the cut off for further diagnosis around here is 1:150....

Boohoo I hate everything right now and keep bursting into tears .

Backinthebox · 21/05/2010 09:15

Rots You are not quite right in the head! Good news on the house btw.

Switty the Amy thread was bizarre! I didn't read all of it, but I do worry for her sanity in the future (if not now!) My antenatal group actually bought me an Annabel Karmel slop cookbook because they were freaked out that I fed DD 'human' food. Anyway - I am such a bad mother - I actually enjoy my 10 days a month work, especially the bits that involve late nights out amd rum in the Bahamas or a lie in then ice cream in Rome .

As for the Flemish - strange people, even if your offspring will be part one of them. I went on a group holiday with a Belgian ex-paratrooper once. When our bags were nicked on the beach (we were in Mexico) he tracked the thieves through the jungle. Sadly (or possibly luckily) we didn't find them, but it was a surreal experience. There was another Belgian girl in the group, and they spent the whole holiday debating Flemish vs Walloon.

Was going to say something else but have completely forgotten what it was. I hate placenta-brain.

skihorse · 21/05/2010 09:33

Oh reggie You poor thing. I didn't test so I can't advise - I know cunty has had a high risk result (incomparison to OTHERS), there's a lot of threads on the Pregnancy section and lots and lots of people have been through it all before. All I can say though is that one of my friends here was given a 1:4 chance after NHS bloods and offered an abortion. She had to PAY for the amnio which came back fine. NHS would rather have given her an abortion than an amnio. It's not game over yet, 1:434 is very positive - but I really don't understand the numbers - what's the discrepency all about?

silver Pssst - where's the Amy thread?

I lived (for 4 years) in the German-speaking part of Belgium. Yep, Belgium has THREE official languages. Actually where I lived used to belong to the Germans but they were forced to hand the land over in 1919 Treaty of Versailles to say "sorry 'bout the war and everyfink". So I was shacked up by German Wallons who didn't feel Belgian at all...

PollyPoo · 21/05/2010 10:05

Oh Reggie, you poor love. How scary for you. Not surprised you are bursting into tears. Have you got a date for the amnio? If it helps, an ex-colleague of mine was also given a 1:4 chance of downs, didn't have the amnio and proceeded with pregnancy. Her daughter was fine (she is now 12 and v v bright and adorable). They chose to look at as 3:4 chance of baby being fine. Must have been incredibly hard though, and I'm not sure I could be that brave. Sending you a big squeeeze.

In other news, had first mw appt. She estimated due date is 25 Dec. I am having a 'Jesus'!

skihorse · 21/05/2010 10:11

polly So in the end you went with the "pray to the baybee Jebus" method of TTC!

I think that's a really positive way to look at these stats. I think it's very easy to get carried away when you've got a 1:30,000 - it's a risk nonetheless - why shouldn't "we" be the one and the other 29,999 not?

Is anyone going with you tomorrow reggie? And how long will it be for them to get those results back to you?

skihorse · 21/05/2010 10:12

reggie Just in case you've not seen this board: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_tests_choices

SilverSky · 21/05/2010 10:17

Lol at PollyVirginMaryPoo due date.

ski me has number of action photees for profile pic on fb! For those who are wondering what kind of action tis no bedroom aerobics.

Ps not the foggiest about Amy fred

re Downs. It's personal choice. Lots of freds with info and experience to surf thru. You can always cancel amnio if change mind. We decided we are having baby either way. Just makes them bit more spesh and there are loadsa support groups out there. Tho only you can decide as it's your life and you gotta live it.

CurlyCasper · 21/05/2010 10:31

Now that is an action shot silver (assuming you are the latest person to have become friends with ski). Very serious face... Have you found your way into the inner sanctum yet?

reggie, sorry you are having such a hard time. I'm afraid I did not do testing either so can't really help. Sending you lots of strength and hugs.

polly Amazing EDD - but I hope you don't mind me saying that I hope you give birth at 37/38 weeks so you can settle in for a calm, rested family Christmas! Glad to have you back. Please stick around!

BTW I did giggle at the thought of rotty's mum knowing what her other half's bits look like, but was stuck with a one-way view on the internet world at the time...

Help! I have all four future grandparents descending next weekend. How do I amuse them without an actual baybee?

SilverSky · 21/05/2010 10:41

Shit just realised I have committed mortal sin. I "lol'd".

SilverSky · 21/05/2010 11:02

Serious face is due to one stride after landing it's straight into water and the little oik can be a monkey about getting it's tootsies wet. Determination all the way laydees.

Am not always that serious. Ermmmmm yes I am really. It's my dark side!!

SilverSky · 21/05/2010 11:08

CurlySue haven't found magic key to secret kingdom yet !! Will wait patiently....... As if!!!!

PollyPoo · 21/05/2010 11:12

Fanks Casp! I am actually hoping jesus will follow in Boo's footsteps and be around 12 days late, so at least we can all enjoy christmas in peace. Not sure how we'd fit the birthing pool in around all the rellies/xmas lunch/festivities/present opening! What to do what to do... put it in the kitchen/diner and put peeps off their lunch? Or in t'other room by the tree and block tv/presents etc. Hehe!

Cosmosis · 21/05/2010 13:02

Oh dear Reggie I suppose the key thing you need to ask yourself is what would you do if you got a + result for downs? if nothing, is there any point in further tests?

It#s never going to bea an easy decision to make, that's for sure.

SilverSky · 21/05/2010 14:06

Wot cos says sums it all up perfectly.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 21/05/2010 15:02

Gosh Reggie I had been wondering how you were getting on. I assumed it was birthday antics and so on that had meant you hadn't had time to be on here. I'm so sorry you're going through such a tough time. My understanding is that in terms of the results of the triple test, the accuracy increases with each element that you include. Therefore, the result based on Nuchal+bloods+other markers is by far the most accurate. And this result is really quite reassuring: it means that that the Amnio has a 99.77 chance of telling you everything is fine - maybe reason enough not to bother with it. I truly sympathise a lot: I am fairly sure that in your place I would probably want to do the further tests to know for sure. It doesn't have to imply making a decision on what you would do if anything were wrong. But that's just me: as others have said, maybe you can evaluate with your OH whether or not there's any point in going that road. Poor thing: it's rubbish really and a pain that you ever got the uncombined results, as that's obviously the bit that's got you so worried, very understandably. Probably okie is best placed to advise and sympathise...Let us know how you get on.

pol what a dramatic EDD. I think you should have it all set up to birth by the tree while watching the Christmas specials. People will be in and out with Cadbury's roses and glasses of Baileys to see how you're getting on. Memorable!!

I've been enjoying the various experiences of the crazy Belgians! Yes it's a funny little country, with an unexpectedly mad side, particularly for the supposed capital of Europe, but I've genuinely come to love it a lot . Truly, it's a great place in a lot of ways.

Ski O'Reillys is full of boisterous trouble-makers - what on earth did you do to be engraved like that on their collectve memory???. I cannot imagine, you crazy thang you! TBH I go for the quieter Irish pubs myself...

As for the little amy thread - it's the one in pregnancy entitled something like "a woman in my ante-natal class was offensive". It's been surreal...

I've no update on the apt by the way, but I did just want to reassure you all a bit, as you all seemed collectively horrified : I think i made it sound a lot more unviable than it actually is. The thing is, there is already a seperate studio that is sub-let on the top floor - so there is a lovely upstairs kitchen, as well as two seperate bathrooms. There are seperate meters as well (so gas, water, electricity etc. are all already seperated into two units and billed apart). There are seperate bells on the front door and no actual shared spaces, except for the main staircase. So the main issue would be closing off the top apartment with an own entrance door and in the future, putting in a spiral stairs for the lower apt, so that the stairs doesn't have to be shared - something I've seen a lot before. The old town houses in Brussels are so huge that dividing them into apartments is pretty standard. Thought I would let you know I am not completely crazed!! But in fact it's not more likely to work out than anything else we've seen. ...

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 21/05/2010 15:20

Sorry for the epic post...

Is that how you spell "seperate" by the way? Or is is separate. That actually looks a lot more correct now that I see it. Sorry this is probably killing you curly I am quite a spelling sticker myself but there are a couple of words that get me everytime...

skihorse · 21/05/2010 15:24

I haz sent key to magic kingdom to silver early this morning. She is clearly IGNORING IT! It's a group invitation and should be visible top right of your facebook screen. It show's a picture of cunty's baybee.

CurlyCasper · 21/05/2010 15:39

Yup, the fact that I am not allowed to give silver any keys, tells me ski has indeed extended the hand of deli friendship... silver did you get the FB message?

swits Stick with what looks right and you will be right (separate) .

You are correct, these things do, indeed, wind me up. I spotted a big FAIL at parentcraft last night: "Babie's need..."
I had to bite my tongue so hard

I have been over to Little Amy and concluded she is a troll.

rollerbaby · 21/05/2010 15:45

Reggie I'm really sorry to hear about your results - but listen all is not lost and this is still a very remote risk. okie did a CVS and all was fine - I think her results similar to yours. I feel for you poor thing.

Have they given you advice on what to do next?

Silver am off to find you on the otehr place....

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 21/05/2010 15:49

Ouch.

skihorse · 21/05/2010 15:49

cossie Someone needs bitchslapping here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/969343-cycling-when-pregnant

reggie Are you there? Am worried about you.

I looked at the Amy thread - ffs.

I haz just been to coffee with a friend with a 1 year old boy. I now iz proud owner of 1 bouncer, 1 expensive high chair and 1 stroller.

switty I'm still unsure about that arrangement. Renting out a loft studio is very different to buying and the staircase sounds a bit strange. Do you mean it's a maison de maitre with one central staircase which is shared by all flats type thing? Or it's more of a house with a flat at the top? Tbh, I'm not sure the makelaar or the bank would like the latter arrangement.

skihorse · 21/05/2010 15:49

makelaar notaris
