Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OkieCokie · 07/06/2010 15:28

I told my colleague in the US that I have a latte each day and she nearly spat down the phone at me. Thankfully, I feel slightly more rational with regard to my coffee (and wine) consumption!

skihorse · 07/06/2010 15:30

New research is in courtesy of silver. I'd mentioned to her that of the "connect 4" group - 3 of us were riders and had all conceived "wrong way up". She has been able to confirm that she too managed it doing it "the wrong way". Any more for any more?

wrong way up = lady on top.

reggie Was yours a beautiful conception gazing in to each other's eyes, basking in the warm honey glow of lurve - or were you riding him like a cowgirl posessed and twirling your stetson?

skihorse · 07/06/2010 15:33

okie I had lunch with a Dutch girl who howled when I told her that licquorice was on the "not approved" UK list. There was also a Greek girl who howled when I told her I'd been warned off greek yoghurt. The Geordie girl kept trying to top up my sangria...

OkieCokie · 07/06/2010 15:44

Ha ha LOL at the wrong way up! Tis indeed my preferred position in the language of lurve however for "control freak" baybee making we were good old missionary and with my legs in the air for a period after, to keep it all in and heading the right direction. Glamorous and romantic huh?

reginaMonologue · 07/06/2010 15:56

The results are in and everything is FINE!!!!!!!!!!!

I can not begin to describe the relief! A bit shocked as I was psyching myself up for tomorrow to get the news but the landline just rang with a number witheld and I knew it was the hospital calling... I almost couldn't pick it up but I did and as soon as the MW started talking I burst into tears!

Then rang OH and was still crying and he thought the worst until I pulled myself together for long enough to string a sentence coherently....

I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you for all the support and words of advice you have offered, it's been invaluable during the most difficult fortnight I have ever had to go through .

OkieCokie · 07/06/2010 16:00

Reggie wow that is fabulous news!!! what a huge relief and I am so pleased for you. Now have a big big cry and then get back to enjoying being pregnant!

reginaMonologue · 07/06/2010 16:01

ski it was a hushed frenzy of canine style humping whist our visitors slept soundly in the guest bedroom... In fairness we had been at it for a week beforehand so the enthusiasm had wained slightly so it was a bit of a stab and dash affair....

skihorse · 07/06/2010 16:09

reggie reggie reggie

Congratulaions - that's bloody brilliant news! Fantastic! Celebrate with a nice cool glass of something chilled!

Now I can offer you a pair of maternity trousers I have in the cupboard (I didn't dare until now ). They're obscenely tight on my bum but you've not got that problem - if you want them please email me your address and I'll pop them over. They're just plain black "work" style trousers.

Btw, your conception story is beautiful.

rots · 07/06/2010 16:19

Tee Hee silver

Interestingly, talking of de-friending, it seems my ex has got into my FB account and added a "friend" (some anonymous person) so he can track me even if I change my PW.

He "dropped" into the convo last night about the scan photos and I mentioned FB and he hedged, so I investigated.

Now, to be fair, I'd prefer a nutter ex than a parent who stalks me, but, there you go.

rots · 07/06/2010 16:26

Oh bloody hell I had that post waiting for ages and then look what happens!

reggie WONDERFUL!!!! I'd do a naked dance but it wouldn't be a pretty sight

reginaMonologue · 07/06/2010 16:48

Thanks okie, ski and rots! I shall join in the nekid dance whilst scoffing my curry that we're having tonight to celebrate! Baby loves spice!

My OH sent me a link to this ingenious idea, makes me curious as to what he considers to be "doing his fair share of the housework" once the baby arrives!

SilverSky · 07/06/2010 16:54

I recommend shopping or the afternoon getting massaged!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 07/06/2010 16:57

Ahhh Reggie! So so so happy for you. It's the best news ever and how great to get it a day in advance, thereby cutting out the worst night of stressing! fabulous, fabulous, fabulous news. Time to relax and enjoy.

And rots so glad you are fine and that the bleed was nothing sinister. Pheeeww.

ski happy for you too on the leccy bill. Good God it must have bee soul-destroying in the past...

I haven't been around much at all. Work has been MAD and promises to continue to be so until Thursday anyway. It's tiring and stressful, but once I get through tomorrow, that will already be a lot done. Heigh ho. Best get back to it.

In other news: I'm pretty sure I can feel the baby since the weekend! I was getting the air bubbles feeling every now and again low in the abdomen from about Friday, which made me think perhaps... and well, since then it's just got way more frequent and regular, so I think this might be it! Very exciting and actually reassuring too. Seems like so long since my last scan. The next one is this day week and sadly, it looks as though boyfy may well miss it due to work, but fingers crossed it might still work out. I love to have him there. It's such a support.

  • I'll come back and catch up properly soon.
SilverSky · 07/06/2010 18:17

Yay for karmasutrareggie !!!!!!! :0

Backinthebox · 07/06/2010 19:58

Fab Reggie, you can relax a bit now!

Skates you seem to be having far too many holidays. I was going to be going to Cornwall for 3 days (OH knows how to live! My trips at work are more exciting.) but it would appear that for about the third year in a row OH's work situation means no hols again, not even Bognor Regis. I am looking forward to somewhere nice and warm with waiter service though, in Nov, where I imagine myself sitting on my own deserted beach BFing new baybee, watching DD make sandcastles with OH and having a waiter bring me another marguerita. If work haven't gone bust and I still get my free flight, that is!

CurlyCasper · 07/06/2010 20:18

hello - sorry went off the radar for a bit. Despite expecting to be online loads at the In-laws I just had a nicely distracted, chilled out weekend.

Glad to hear the good outcomes for both rots and reggie. you must both be feeling great relief. And ski, too, of course - glad the pup is going to be ok.

well, things are changing rapidly here. So many BH contractions, return to ridiculously frequent urge to pee, and much breathlessness when sitting back (on sofa etc). so I have spent a lot of time in dining chairs. Time to blow the ball back up I think! She's still very wriggly though.

fanny hope the light at the end of the tunnel is now visible! can't wait to hear about your little one

48 hours till I get my man back!

skihorse · 07/06/2010 21:05

switty I don't need to tell you about Electrabel I'm sure. One of the reasons I sold my house was the 300 a month leccy bill. Just wore me down.

curly So glad you're back and SFF will be home soon - how is he coping anyway with his last week of "freedom"?

I'm getting worried now, I've had no BH and my nipples are still dry. Nothing. Maybe I'll just be pregnant forevah?

CUNextTuesday · 07/06/2010 21:36

Same here ski and I'm a good 3 weeks further on. I reckon it'll all come on in a rush and I'll be left in a whirl of fluffy white towels, bottles of champagne and warm congratulations.

SilverSky · 07/06/2010 22:44

Well I iz way behind yooooo all. 21 wks today.

Two of my books have arrived and I started to read the mumsnet one in the bath. I iz now so very tired abd have hit the hay. Bring on the zzzzzzzz's.

rollerbaby · 08/06/2010 08:16

Reg so, so, so pleased for you. I bet you are absolutely weak with relief! Now as everyone says you can relax and enjoy. It's not fair you had to go through that...

Witty I can't believe you've felt your little one already! I'm 19 weeks today and I still haven't felt anything particularly definite. A sensation after I wee, but that's it really. Boo...

So... the hospital have slightly cocked up and sent me ANOTHER 20 week scan appointment a week earlier than scheduled tomorrow! Whoooppppeeeee! Will be reporting back on the flavour tomorrow early evening peshies! Can't wait. LET THE SHOPPING COMMENCE!

Ski are you STILL going on about puking? God I feel for you... that is SHIT. Can you get a refund?

Curly good to see you back - get bouncing girl!

Skater you are far to international for my liking!!! Glad you had nice hols. You missed mini pesh meet, boo. Btw Ski I felt like I DID know okie. We were gassing like a couple of fishwives - no one could have got a word in!!! God only knows what the neighbouring tables thought of our conversation content (stretch marks and the like).

OP posts:
skihorse · 08/06/2010 08:54

honey Oh don't worry, jailbait's had words through the walls and has offered to kick the shit out of him once he's out. 6:12am this morning I had to leap from bed to the loo. Such is the glamour at this stage of the pregnancy that I can't puke when I've got a full bladder (lest horrible tena lady style accidents), so I had to sit down and pee whilst clutching a plastic bowl - every heave made me fart too. Pregnancy is beautiful, non?

Congratulations on flavour-hunting!

I understand that type of conversation all too well - c.f., cossie/carrots tales' of boob leakage.

PollyPoo · 08/06/2010 09:20

Morning all, Reggie I am so pleased to your good news! I hope you and baybee enjoyed your curry last night. [grin Also good news for Rots and Honey, enjoy the scan!

Well I have my 12 wk scan on Monday, can't wait to get it over and done with and then hopefully get on with enjoying being pregnant again.

Ski boo to the puking, that is grim. Oh, and don't worry about lack of boob leakage - I don't know what the norm is but I didn't get any with Boo until she was born.

Glad SFF back home soon and hope the time has flown by?

OkieCokie · 08/06/2010 10:24

Fanny must be having her sun roof soon. Is it today or tomorrow? Ooo how exciting! Fanny if you are there then best of luck!

Moo good old NHS and scan-a-plenty! Wonder if your gut instinct is correct? After our discussion I went out and bought some bio oil, figured it could not hurt. Basically I remained stretch mark free until I went 8 days late overdue last time now my tummy looks like a formula one track despite routinely using oil and cream before (I did not use bio oil though last time)! Any opinions of whether the old bio oil works especially for eradicating existing marks?

No leaky nips here until post birth.

My hot milks need to go back. Too small!

reginaMonologue · 08/06/2010 10:26

Morning All!

I have just devoured my celebratory breakfast of american pancakes, bacon, egg and maple syrup... mmmm it was delicious!

This morning I'm working and then this afternoon I am going out to buy a giant elephant that I'd been eyeing up in a shop but didn't have the guts to buy until now, it's very cute!

silver - shopping yes, I dare say it will extend to more than a stuffed toy . We are going to get the pram at the weekend too, can't wait! If you ordered that day by day book I have don't look at the early weeks, man. Embryo's are UGLY, OH was clearly disturbed at 5 weeks... oh and on the topic of the Karma Sutra, I had the filthiest dream last night... phewweee!

moo it wasn't something I'd want anyone else to go through, but the advantage I suppose is that now I've been there I can advise anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation, like okie did for me (thanks again okie!).

swits your absolutely right about getting the news early, I'd not thought about it like that until I read your post... so yes, early is a plus even if you're not expecting it. I'm pretty sure I've felt a few things on the baybee front, most noticeably early evening and then in the morning. Although I have discovered my placenta has decided to be that of type "anterior high" and I know the placement of it can affect how much you feel and when, so maybe it was just all the spicy food I've been eating! My next scan is at the beginning of July so I've ages to wait, but looking at the calender I've got 3 scans in July and then the 3D one after that, which will be super cool! My OH hasn't been able to make all of my scans but I do try to get pics for him if he can't make it. Sometimes it's just not possible for them to be there all the time...

ski oddly I found myself gazing at the tenna lady in Sainsbury's yesterday - is this a sign of things to come?! BTw, trousers yes, I'll faceslap you the details, thanks!

poo enjoy the scan on Monday, it's a very emotional one!

SilverSky · 08/06/2010 10:48

Aye 12 wk scan is a tear jerker fo' sho' and makes you go all tingly.

Still not bought nothing. Gonna wait a bit longer me thinks.

fanjita are you there? Good luck! Hope you can still get to post on here after baybee arrives!!

I wish I could give up work now. Def dont want to come back, not full time. Should I stop at 38 wks? I don't want to get too bored at home !

How far in advance does the NCT contact you about classes? Anyone know? Answers on a postcard plz.

Have been cheeky. We are going to a wedding and when we accepted i was not preggo so completed the dietary info as nil. Well now I have a list as long as my arm. So I politely asked what menu is. Hope they don't mind. Worse case scenario is that I will have to whip put to nearest maccyDs or something if it's steak tartars and creme brûlée. I tell thee, I am horrid not so easygoing when I is hungry.
