Hi ladies

Sorry I've not checked in for a while....been sooo busy! Have been running around at work and busy at home getting new windows and painting the nursery...we now have a lovely yellow bedroom with proper chest of drawers and wardrobe etc.

Congrats LCR/LCM!!!

We're on holiday for the next fortnight (only in the UK visitng relatvies and attending a wedding) so will be off the radar for a bit longer.

Am now 28 weeks and feelng baby kicking and wiggling constantly. He seems to be very long.... It has suddently hit me that this baby will be coming out of my body in about 2 months and even the merest thought of childbirth fills me with fear and dread....oh well...too late to change my mind now

isheisnthe · 18/05/2010 10:48

Not been on much - can you believe they have blocked mumsnet at work - cheek

woke up to a massive nose bleed and i'm feeling like crap - i'm huge too!!!

Cherry mine too!

Just spoken to MW and maternity hospital. Their advice is to do as little as possible, as in bedrest type thing to stop uterus being stimulated, as everytime i stand up/move/do anything i get a BH. Quite nice in a way, but managable really just for a couple of hours as have a toddler and 2 horses (DH is taking DD to work with him, luckily has a quiet day) i suppose the worst case scenario is having to do this for the next month/6 weeks as by then i will be nearly 35weeks and everything much safer if the baby is born. Hopefully it will really mean just bumbling about very slowly for a while

weehector · 18/05/2010 12:09

LCR/M So pleased that everything went well for you on your big day.

CazEm Your lovely room sounds like a rhubarb & custard sweetie...I'll come round and lick the walls as I love old fashioned sweeties. Rhubarb is also rocking my work right now and the best bit is you feel justified & healthy eating it.

Back home from my parents' now and on a week of further improvements to Weehector's House and grooming & lovely girlie stuff.

I had the MW yesterday but didn't get on quite as well as I hoped - I've a bit of blood in my urine so I need to pop another sample into the surgery today. I just about keeled over when she mentioned 'it could be a bit of a show' before adding 'but its probably a UTI' particularly as I too have been finding the BH increasingly intense & uncomfortable...baby Weehector, mummy isn't ready yet!! My health board also don't do fundal height measurements (which I had been looking forward to confirming after the moo of a sonographer had suggested the baby was petite). But hey, ho..I've had it pretty good so far and I've now sent off my HiP form & I'm starting antenatal classes next week so it does feel like progress.

Right, gotta go pee, then the surgery then to Glasgow to get my hair done so I can be more 'yummy mummy who lunches' than 'wild woman of Borneo' later this week when I go to stay with my pal in Fife for a few days - we're off for a Michelin star lunch on Thursday. It'll feel fabulous to be glam after 2 weeks of gardening. (note not 'lady'gardening - the hair is a superficial grooming stop gap to allow me to venture out in public).

Chulita · 18/05/2010 12:38

weehector sounds like a busy day!

alice sorry you feel rough, and ishe, hope you both pick up soon.

At the breastfeeding course this morning 'my' midwife turned up to do the midwifery chat bit and she didn't even recognize me She recognized several other ladies who'd had their babies about 8 months ago but completely glazed over me. Should I be worried that 7 months in she still doesn't know me? Not like she has many people either cos we're out in the sticks...

pamplem0usse · 18/05/2010 13:28

Hi all......
Sorry about my rubbishness.... have now handed in c.50,000 words of report and just have the big presentation to go in 10 days time before I can slow down and prepare for maternity leave

Sorry about those of you who are feeling poorly and congratulations LCR!

CherryPie3 · 18/05/2010 16:10

Alice Hope you're taking it easy honey. It's lousy when you have things to do but like you said....just 6 short weeks to take it easy to reduce early labour risk.

WeeHector Hope you had fun getting your hair done!!

Chulita Yes, after 7 months I would be worried!! Especially cos it sounds like there isn't really a lot of other people for her to confuse you with?

Pample Congrats on getting the big essay/report done! The end is in sight

Went to ANDU today for a BP check and a general baby check-up. Baby has decided that it doesn't like it when they squeeze my arm to check my blood pressue . Was going nuts in there kicking and squirming, bless him/her.
They told me as well that baby is head down . Fantastic news as has been lying transverse for, well.....ever (just hope s/he isn't looking for an early exit)!! But of course I know theres plenty ot time for baby to decide it's comfier somewhere else. They want to keep an eye on my bp, as in 3 readings it was high, then normal, then low . Got to go back next week. I also have a teeny amount of protein in my urine which combined with the headaches and swimming spots in front my eyes means they also want to watch that.
But all in all - a successful appointment, a world away from yesterdays experience!

Hope everyone is well xx

Aussieng · 18/05/2010 16:48

Chulita my MW wou;dn't recognise me in a million years - I take it as a good sign - I am clearly not one of her problem case

Cherry welcome to my world. I have had one high BP reading in the entire pregnancy (completely explainable) and trace protein (which my mediacal records clearly show is normal for me even when not pg) but am on 1-2 week monitoring. Drives me nuts.

Hope those of you who are a bit under the weather are feeling better soon.

Bought a cute top from peacocks yesterday with "ready or not here I come" on it. Also had a pair of skinny jeans arrive in the post which I love. I would never have worn skinny jeans before being pg but all the weith I lost with the MS has done wonders for my legs

And the weather is fab!!!!

Aussieng · 18/05/2010 16:49

Oooh and congrats pample and LCR I can't seem to be able to access your profile - I wanna look at your wedding dress

sparkle101 · 18/05/2010 17:30

LCR/M Many congratulations!

I had the day from hell yesterday - went to A and E at 930pm having found blood and getting quite bad stomach pains and pains in 'other places'. The baby also decided even though it was kicking all through the day it would stop for four hours.... so panicking we went to hospital and seen straight away.

As soon as midwife touched my stomach baby decided to have a kick (I'm sure it was laughing when it did!) and heartbeat was good and strong 160 bpm - boy or girl?

It turns out I have a UTI - hurrah - not painful at all.... but positive thing is everything okay.

Feel really now but suppose best to be safe than sorry!

And latest joy of pregnancy brain is going to work with my trainers on rather than my work shoes. Now cannot discipline any of my staff for doing the same!

ElusiveMoose · 18/05/2010 18:41

Hi all,

Scary day for you, sparkle. Glad everything was ok (or at least relatively ok) - definitely right to get seen straight away, though.

Chulita I can see why you were annoyed at MW not recognising you. Though, to be honest, if your area is anything like mine, then your chances of getting that MW in labour are pretty much zero anyway. Bit annoying, though.

By contrast, I just had a lovely appt with my MW - she's the one I saw all the way through with DS, and who knows what an awful time I had with him in the first few weeks, but for some reason I hadn't seen her so far this time round (they're a team of two, but I've always seen the other one). Anyway, she was very friendly, and she talks such sense - I remember now why I liked her so much last time. I would absolutely LOVE to have her for the birth, but as I say, the chances are remote. But all was well (assuming blood tests are clear). She thinks the baby's now turned head down, but she's not 100% sure - and she thought that the reason I had had kicks all over the place for the last week or so is that he's probably finding a position to settle in but hasn't quite decided on it yet. And got my HiP form - yay! Just need to whip it in the post before the emergency budget, now .

CazEM · 18/05/2010 18:53

Evening ladies!

Alice hope your resting! And sparkle that sounds so scary! Did they say where the blood was coming from? Always better to be safe than sorry I think so don't feel !

I'm quite ready to start slowing down as well now! Its only Tuesday and I'm exhausted again! Wish I could go part-time already! Haha! Got a busy week the rest of the week too, uni tomorrow so have to drive to Swansea (hour away) and on a course Thursday for work so completely out of routine this week...

weehector - haha at the rhubarb and custard! I don't actually like rhubarb or custard, but I'm sure it will look very pretty on my walls!

Had my 28 week check today - I'm measuring spot on for dates, so even though I feel like I look enormous the MW says I'm abolutely fine and no indication of growing a whopper baby! Haha! Baby head down and was very active for MW, lots of kicks!

She suggested that faint/dizzy spells last week could be something to do with the way the baby is lying - there is a nerve in abdomen area that if pressure is put on it it will apparently make you feel faint. So if my bloods come back ok she says it is probably baby laying on the nerve sometimes....

Talking of bloods she made a right hash of it!! In the middle of taking all the tubes she needed she accidently knocked the needle and it moved in the vein - so the blood starts running down my arm - I'm sure it looked far worse than it actually was but the blood was flowing out of me at a ridiculous rate, dripping all over the floor, desk - everywhere!!!! and then the midwife continued to wiggle the needle back into place to get the final tube!! Nightmare, I'm not at all bothered by needles usually but I actually started to feel very hot and sick!!!

Also been given my breastfeeding DVD today so think I'll get DH to sit down and watch that with me later on! I'm sure he'll be delighted! Haha!

Aussieng · 18/05/2010 21:15

Elusive I'd make sure to get that HiP form in the post tomorrow if I were you!

I want a bf DVD - although a couple of the baby whisperer progs on discovery have been about bf the last couple of days which have been good (although I'm dismayed at how often the HV's seem to force mothers into bottle feeding - I hope I have more resilience).

aendr · 18/05/2010 22:18

Evening all. I've been reading but had no chance to post for ages. Congratulations to erm (looks back) LCR, welcome Rachel. I think there are a few hugs etc due to people from the last thread... and I really don't have to time to read it all again. We're a very nattery group!

I've had quite a fortnight. DS got chicken pox while DH was in New York and mother was visiting. Was I glad of her help. I got about 8 hour's sleep in 1 week while DS was ill, and no more than an hour at once - when he slept, the baby started kicking and she's vicious (I'm sitting here feeling bruised from a session earlier today.) We also had to check I was immune as that was questionable and there are nasty complications for pregnant women. Luckily I was. THEN when DH got back, we went (delayed a few days till DS wasn't infectious) to the Isle of Wight on holiday. So I'm just a tad tired right now. It was a good holiday though. DS found a ramp at the monkey haven and kept navigating back to it whenever we dragged him away to look at monkeys, and then charged up and down and up and down and up and down it. Very cute, if boring for the adults.

starshaker · 19/05/2010 00:04

Not had a chance to catch up properly but thought i would give an update.
Today i was at the loo and was bleeding. Went to the hospital and turns out i have thrush. They said the 3 main causes of bleeding during pregnancy is low lying placenta, vaginal irratation (mainly caused by sex) and thrush. I had no idea thrush could cause bleeding. So my advice is if you think you have thrush get it checked asap and save yourself the heart attack i had lol

ElusiveMoose · 19/05/2010 08:17

Poor you, Star, that must have been scary. Glad it was nothing more serious .

Aendr, it sounds like you've had a bit of a busy time . My DS would have loved that monkey ramp. Combines two of his very favourite things - animals and slopes .

Aussie, it's already posted .

Chulita · 19/05/2010 11:40

Hello everyone!

elusive that grant thing comes through very quickly, I was well impressed. Mostly spent mine now on a hospital bag and 2 breastfeeding cami's - £30 each for the tops...how mad's that?!

star I've never realised thrush could make you bleed - I get it all the time so thanks for the warning.

Speaking of monkeys we live right near monkey world and I'm itching to take DD. She loves animals and is just getting into slides, might have to do it next week, better sooner than later before I'm too big to help her up the steps!

I'm really wanting another scan, I'm so scared of this LO being in the wrong position again and me fighting for days only to end up with an emcs. With DD I kept saying she was OP and no one listened until 6 days of slow, agonizing dilation and 8 hours of being told to 'push' someone finally clicked and they chopped her out. I really, really want to be sure this one's in a good position...I know they can move last minute but I want to know...just don't know how to go about pushing for another scan. Any ideas?

weehector · 19/05/2010 12:12

Chulita The MW I should see has been off sick for 8 weeks and I've had the dizziest stand-in ever for the last 2 appointments. I'm not sure she'd recognise her own car in the car park, let alone me..

Star Good to know re bleeding. No results are back yet but I think the wee bit of blood in my urine might be something do do with getting a bit too over-enthusiastic with Mr Weehector. I think I'll er, save my energy for a bit.

My hair is shiny and fabulous today but I have a mountain of housework to climb before I can head off to Fife to see my friend today. We've been in this house for 9 years but because we've been doing so much to it recently, the upkeep is starting to feel overwhelming again, just like it did when we first moved in. I know I'm lucky when I hear people talking about having to scratch their heads to work out where to put moses baskets in bedrooms and stuff..I do have the space..& 6 fecking sinks to clean...but I'm worried that when the baby arrives, my life will just become one endless conveyor belt of taking care of the baby & the upkeep of the house. Even now before he's here, I have no idea how I found the time to be out of the house for at least 12 hrs a day, 5 days per week. Think I'll browse the web for baby blankets before making a housework list, having a cup of tea and then tackling things methodically..I need to remind myself that we're all quite heavily pregnant and can't expect to keep going at the same pace - things do not have to be perfect.

mrsZaC · 19/05/2010 14:56

hey all,

I've made several attempts to catchup on all that I've missed, been sooo busy these last few days! but I've given up so I'm very sorry if I've missed stuff

congrats LCR saw your photos on Fbook you looked stunning!

star & sparkle sorry to hear about your bleeding at least you know what it is... hope your both feeling better soon.

alice sorry to hear your on the bed rest squad, hope your feeling better soon too.

I can't remember who was mentioning about their flat/house, think it was vix I'm having similar problems, we have 2 flats to sell one we live in and one we used to rent out but has now been empty since late march ...nothing is moving, viewings but no purchases despite putting on of our flats on fixed price lower than the value!!! just heard we have a viewing on Friday for one of them so fingers crossed. I had a chat with hubby last night and decided that if nothing has happened by the time I finish work (6 wks before baby) then we will shift the furniture to make a room for baby... not quite what I envisaged but will have to do

Had my first hypnobirthing session on Thursday, and my next tomorrow, it really is brilliant what I've learned so far, and I'm actually looking forward to the birth I've been practicing my relaxation every day now and I love it!

Also got some free Personal Training sessions in exchange for doing some promotional photography, first session tonight so wish me luck!

hope your all well, and sorry again if I've missed anything x

Hey ladies

Not much doing here, got a very achy bump today thanks to babycherry stretching his/her legs and playing boxing in my pelvis. Little tinker

I think me and dh have finally settled on a boys name - still no idea about a girls name tho . So many lovely pretty ones tp choose from - the only stipulation I've given dh is that I'd prefer it to have 2 syllables as dd and ds's names are both 2 syllables.

Star Thats so scary - glad it was easily sorted.

Sparkle Glad it's 'only' a UTI hun.

Aussie You're really not missing anything with the bf dvd. It's a little bit in places. (I thought so anyway)

Weehector Good job not everything has to be perfect, cos it clearly isn't in my house

Alice Saw your other thread honey, hope you're resting and taking it slowly, not the easiest thing to do when you already have a child to look after and entertain.

xxxx
