brilliant weehector we can be ducky & seafari twins, well done on getting the 30% off! & free deliery, I missed that one!

Hoping they have another discount on when I know what flavour baby I'm having :D hope if I have a little girl she'll be ok with blue!

LCRLCR · 03/06/2010 12:34

Uh - oh! My tongue can wiggle a filling a bit, I think it's coming out! If it needs to be replaced, does anyone know if it is ok to have a local anasthetic and a filling while prego?

CherryPie3 · 03/06/2010 13:05

LCR Sorry about your filling But I can confirm that it is fine to have the anaesthetic and have a filling but they have problems with amalgam fillings I think?

I'm not a dentist but I recently needed a filling and thats what I overheard them saying about mine

Just realised that I don't think starshaker has been on for a week or so, and last time she posted she had a chest infection. How are you doing, Star??

girlsyearapart · 03/06/2010 15:49

Yeah that's true elusive she hasn't been on for a while..

cherry I'm 31 tomorrow if you feel the urge to update the list. I won't be sad to stay at 30 though

coffeelady we have similar 'big girl bed' issues- dds need to share a room so the baby will have a room but for that we need dd1 to go in her bed. She has had it since xmas after asking for one but rarely sleeps in it.

So we have taken the mattress out of the cot and are enforcing the bed rule. She will be 3 in september so not too little for a bed and can climb in and out of the cot.

Makes me feel a bit mean but at least it means I only have 1 to lift in and out of the cot..

Saw the midwife today am now measuring 34cm at 31 wks and baby is head down and between 1/5 engaged(?) and not engaged so all heading in the right direction..

If it all carries on this way 3 weeks early would be fine by me- not too scary but not too long left

Alicetheinvisible · 03/06/2010 16:22

I have seen Star about on FB recently though

Alicetheinvisible · 03/06/2010 19:47

Evening

Bit of a mad day. Friend (who is pg, due the same time as me) came over with her little dog. Friend went up to the loo (just after she arrived - due to baby on bladder!) dog was sniffing about as they do, our cat shoots past, dog chases, they have huge scrap on DD's bed. Cat is traumatised with a fat leg and dog is covered in scratches. Our cat disappears, but luckily back again now. Good day otherwise, talking pregnancy and babies and comparing symptoms and bumps

Poor cat is still feeling very sorry for itself, but DH has given it painkillers and doesn't think it has broken anything - thank god! Set off a couple of contractions too with the stressing and running up the stairs!

thecoffeelady · 03/06/2010 22:18

Evening Ladies,

I am feeling much better today and even risked eating.

DD is in her big girls bed and so far hasn't fallen out but we still have the whole night to get through.

GYA the big girls bed thing is a bit daunting as DD has always been such a good sleeper and I am just hoping that this continues.

LCRLCR I hope you get your tooth sorted out, my dentist wouldn't touch me as I am pregnant but I think that each dentist is different.

Alice Poor cat I hope it is ok. There was a funny post in the AIBU section about a kicking a dog about a week ago, its worth a look.

I am going to watch another ep of Luther on iplayer

starshaker · 03/06/2010 22:25

Sorry ive not been on much, have been reading but not had too much to say. Im another with toothache although im too much of a wimp to do anything about it.
I became an auntie again today to a little nephew.
Think ive been get BH lately, although they are sometimes so painful i need to stop and kinda breath through them. Pretty sure its not the real thing as there is no pattern to them and they dont feel the same as when i had dd. Might even be just 1 of the twins (or both) having a good stretch.

CazEM · 04/06/2010 09:10

Morning everyone!

Back from Bournemouth, nice couple of days but the travelling I found unbearably uncomfortable - think its shown I don't think I'll be up to travelling to Plymouth at 39 weeks for a wedding! Going down in 2 weeks for my cousins wife-to-be hen night and I think that'll be my last long driving stint then before baby is born!

Had first antenatal class last night - and I really think I was the youngest there! We had a little presentation on labour and birth, the stages and how the baby turns through the pelvis (in an ideal situation when its started in an ideal position inside!!) and then they showed us how big a placenta is. I think that was what freaked me out the most! I had no idea it was so large!!! Had a tour of the hospital and watched a video called "The Social Baby" which was quite cute!

How is everyone else finding sleeping now? I seem to be up more than I'm down in the night and I'm starting feel horribly shattered, and because I'm so tired I'm finding myself having lots of weepies and just generally feeling rubbish and I think thats why the feeling of nausea is returning! Although I realise this is nothing compared to how tired I'll be when baby arrives and I'm up through the night with her! However its not all bad, when I get going and feel ok I'm feeling fab - just intermittent with these rubbish, weeping pregnant woman moments!!!

Got some friends coming for dinner today so I need to spruce the house up a bit and pop over Asda in a bit to get in some food before they arrive! Mother Hubbard again we are!

Alice sorry to hear about your poor cat!! How is she now?!

Hope everyone else is doing well - I'm sorry if I haven't shouted out to anyone with any important news! I have read up but I can't for the life of me remember any of it now! Haha!

CherryPie3 · 04/06/2010 11:59

Happy Birthday Girlsyearapart Many Happy Returns!!

coffeelady Hows the 'big girls bed' going? Hope you're feeling better now

GYA If you're measuring 34cm/wks do you have to have scans to monitor baby growth? Sorry if this is a bit nosy I'm just curious. I wouldn't mind a 37/38weeker either

Alice What a day you had!! Hope those contractions have settled down again

Star Well hello stranger.... Congratulations on your little nephew - will you indulge us with names and weights? [sorry, I'm too nosy for my own good]

CazEm I'm the same with the sleeping, it seems everytime I move I need to wee! Muchos fun

mrsZaC · 04/06/2010 12:22

Hey ladies!

at work on my own today - boo hoo, means a 10hr stint on reception, then hypnobirthing tonight, so thank goodness tomorrow is lie in day! Ah well only 6 wks left, although I'm considering doing an extra 4 days, son more like 7, but I like the sound of 6 better

Happy Birthday Girlsyearapart hope you have a good one!

congrats on your nephew star! coffeelady glad your feeling better I had a random spout of the skits (sorry if TMI)last night, was horrible my male friend walked me home after a nice dinner in the west end and I was trying to make polite conversation all the while thinking I'm actually going to poop my pants!! made it to the toilet (just) with one massive explosion but no sickeness, wonder what that was all about?!

CazEm last few nights have been rubbish for me, waking up at 2, 4 and 5 sometimes needing a pee and sometimes just super uncomfortable, I think my mattress is too hard for sleeping on my side. I tried an extra pillow between my legs over my dream genii last night, seemed to help a little, only woke up twice instead of 3 times It also doesn't seem to matter how early i go to bed, I'm still waking up shattered

alice that sounds like chaos with the cat and the dog at it! tell that cat of yours to stop stressing you out!

woke up this morning with my first stretchmarks - nooo! but thankfully they are just dinky ones over my belly button piercing, not surprised as it has been looking like it's gunna burst the last week, lets hope it holds up for another 13 wks!!

soontobefatnat · 04/06/2010 15:06

Hello everyone, love to those with birthdays, BH, no sleep, cat fights and everything else! Hope everyone's managing to enjoy the beautiful day. I wangled the day off and it couldn't be more glorious - lido swim, lovely seasonal lunch in sunny garden with hot Ginger beer, and now off for some non stressful shopping before a special dinner out with my DH and dad. Hurrah!

Only thing to moan about (I always have to have something!) is an achy left rib and corresponding spot in my back/left shoulder. Blame baby? I will!

Caz I've been wondering how your DH is doing? Any news since the opticians letter?

starshaker · 04/06/2010 15:53

he is called max and was 7lb14. still not seen a pic or anything yet though

CazEM · 04/06/2010 18:05

Hey soon - thanks for asking about DH. Things are pretty much the same, although 4th and 5th fingers on both hands are now more or less completely numb, left eye same as last week . Its weird how everything seems to be happening bilaterally at the same time.... anyway another urgent referral has been made, hoping for a letter next week - its another wait and see, but I really hope he gets seen before baby arrives!

Congrats on nephew star

Its Friday evening and I've done no school work all week! Oh dear! I really should do some tonight (not likely!!) and over weekend! It'll be catch up during the evenings next week getting my reports done! I need some serious motivation!

Hope everyone has lovely sunny weekends planned!

babyducky · 04/06/2010 18:25

Hey everyone, hope you're all well

sorry Ive been so rubbish at catching up again!

Congrats on your nephew star.

Cazem- hope it all gets sorted with your dh soon.

sorry to those of you having trouble sleeping, I've been ok so far, only waking up once for a wee!
Still feel really tired though!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLS! Hope you have had a nice day

Sorry to hear about your ds at nursery elusive moose, we had just the same with our ds, we took him out after a week because it was so upsetting & the nursery were rubbish how they handled it, a few months later we tried him at a different one & he had a little cry the first few times but he settled in really quickly & he really loves it now! Hope it gets better soon

Nothing much to report here, 30 weeks tomorrow though, woohoo!

Speak soon, take care everyone x

Joey30 · 04/06/2010 18:35

Hey everyone

Sympathies for all the ladies not sleeping- me too. wake up either to pee or to drink- I'm so thirsty at night I'm drinking about 2 pints!

Got to see my baby today which was a bit of a bonus-hes so big! Had another scan just to check on a fibroid but it has shrunk so wont be a problem.

I was so nice today- sunny but not too hot!!!

Waiting for online shopping to get here so I can eat....so hungry. last ate erm about an hour ago!!!!

CazEM · 04/06/2010 23:42

ooooo so excited! We've just built our lovely gliding/rocking nursing chair! It is soooo pretty! No idea where it is going to live now though until it is ready to go into the nursery but nevermind!! I so can't wait to have the nursery ready to build everything else now! I'm going to have to start nagging about the painting/decorating!

girlsyearapart · 05/06/2010 08:35

cherry I have extra midwife apt in 2 wks and then will be 'assessed clinically' at 34 wks in hospital.

I don't think I'm so far booked in for any more growth scans unless they decide to do another one when I go in at 34 wks.

According to the registrar they 'are more worried about small babies than big ones'
I for one am a bit worried about pushing more than the 9lb that dd2 was!

Thanks all for the birthday wishes- had a good day at lido then my parents came over in the evening with a 3 course meal. Shame I had been feeling sick all day and couldn't eat much of it.

Alicetheinvisible · 05/06/2010 09:36

Hello

Happy belated birthday Girls

WRT the growth measurements, when i was in the hospital i had one MW measure and say i was 3 and half weeks over, the Dr have a feel and say it felt about average, another MW measure and i was 1 and half weeks over. A scan that said that baby was on the shorter side of average but in the middle head/ab measurement, then at MW app a week later i was measuring 1 and half weeks under so a bit about the whole thing really.

Ordered our buggyboard last night, and a present for DD from DS (a kiddizoom camera and bag) so think the only thing i haven't got now is a general change mat.

starshaker · 05/06/2010 11:17

Good morning ladies, hows everybody feeling today.
Thursday night was a bit interesting. Started getting tightnings at the top of my bump which were really painful and i actually had to breath through them. They didnt feel the same as contractions i had with dd so didnt think it was labour starting. I eventually called the assesment unit to ask for some advice. Turns out my chest infection is still going strong and all the coughing im doing is irritating my uterus. Went to the doctors yesterday and was given stronger inhalers, steroid tablets (anybody else had these?) and more antibiotics. They have said i need to get rid of this as quickly as possible as it could start off early labour since i have more stress and pressure in there anyway.
Anyway to take my mind of things im heading up to glasgow to do some shopping (for me for a change) and i need to go to the apple store and see if they can sort my phone for me.

Whats everybody elses plans for today?

marzipananimal · 05/06/2010 12:13

I really hope the new medicine gets rid off your chest infection quickly star or we'll have to add you to the 'worry list'! Have fun shopping.

I might go shopping this afternoon but feeling a bit about how hard it is to find inexpensive maternity clothes (I only buy cheap clothes). And I'm sick of looking like a hippo and I've still got more than 10 weeks to go .

Anyone got any good advice on non-maternity clothes that work with a bump esp skirts/dresses?

cazzybabs · 05/06/2010 12:16

I have 5 weeks to go until the summer holidays - HORRAH!!!! Have 4 more reports to write = and then presuade dh to proof-read them and done my literacy planning!!!

BUT on the downside (1) I am hot (2) my arms and thighs are soooo fat and (3) the house is a complete mess and there is plaster dust everywnere ...

how are the rest of you?

cazzybabs · 05/06/2010 12:18

bouncingblueberries - how are you getting on with bunkbeds...

dd3 has taken to climbing up the ladder in the middle of the night and getting in to bed with dd2 .... so I have put her back into her cot

weehector · 05/06/2010 12:25

soontobe that sounds like a truly blissful day yesterday. Here's to the weather & more lovely days before we get even more uncomfortable.

I had a day of mixed emotions yesterday. It was DH's aunt's funeral which was strangely uplifting. There was stunning views of the river and Arran from the cemetery, a good turnout and we went out for dinner & a lovely walk with DH's parents in the evening, talking about Aunt Jean & the family..which was a gentle & perfect way to end off the day. I couldn't sleep again but decided to read til 3am..in the book I'm reading, I came across the Martin Luther King quote 'but I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough, can you see the stars' and I think that pretty much sums up how I feel about life just now. After 18 months of illness & death in my closest family, I seem to be truly appreciative of my friends and family and having flipped the time/money balance in favour of time, I really appreciate the simple things in life once more. I really do feel blessed and more contented than I've ever been in my life.

Anyways, all a bit emotional as I lie here just being Mrs Happy Hormones today - I'll stop! I need to get a move on as I need to do a bit of baby shopping in Glasgow before heading off to Cirque du Soleil with my sister & niece. Not really my thing so not sure what to expect but will be great to spend time with them. Then, tonight I'll have my niece to stay for what might be the last time before the baby comes and I'll not be able to give her my undivided attention any more. Quite sad at the thought so having just a slight taster of how everyone going from 1 to 2 kids must feel..how cruel that nature makes you feel pants & tired when you must want to make the most of every last minute with them alone
