Morning

30 weeks today!!!!!!!! Woohooo

Chulita thanks, had a curry last night, so hoping that will erm help the situation, but if not will try to get appointment this week (may be a nightmare after BHweekend)

Caz she is not worth your time and attention. Seriously. There are so many lovely people out there, why waste your time on ones who make you feel like that?

Baby keeps getting hiccups and it is very strange as baby is now head down that i can feel them in my pelvis. Very odd! DD never had them. DH thinks this one must take after him as he always gets hiccups

vix206 · 31/05/2010 16:00

Congrats Alice, I'm 29 weeks today My LO also gets hiccups a lot, usually I feel them down near my right hip. Its nice to know where his head is! This morning I woke up at 3.30 for usual loo trip and when I got back into bed I counted as far as 380 hiccups before I fell asleep. He gets hiccups at least 3 times every day, feel bad saying it but it gets a bit annoying sometimes!!

girlsyearapart · 31/05/2010 16:15

caz at least you tried- just ignore it now.

My contractions started back again on thursday and have been on and off all day every day since then and can be quite painful but at least this time they stop at night.

Getting very fed up with it all now. Feel like I'm being a rubbish mum to the girls and can't do much round the house either.

I don't want the baby this early (30+5)but in a way it would be a relief..

Alicetheinvisible · 31/05/2010 19:22

Girls i am exactly the same. Can have a really bad day with them but they always ease off overnight. I have started to do a bit more now simply because i physically cannot stand to sit and do nothing. I also feel like a bad mum to DD atm. She is getting so bored (and destructive) and despite 30weeks still being early and not a great time for the baby to come, i am mentally more ready for it iyswim?

vix206 · 31/05/2010 21:28

I haven't had any BH contractions yet at all, I'm 29 weeks today and everyone else seems to be getting them. I'll probably find they come on really suddenly tomorrow now!!

CazEM · 31/05/2010 21:50

I've had a fab day!! Very productive on the nursery front, bought the rest of the furniture and paint ready for decorating! (and a little trip to Mothercare thrown in and couldn't resist a few bits of gorgeous little clothes!!)

We did another tip run and have practically cleared the nursery! Just the shelves to take down now and throw, which DH will do now he has an electric screwdriver he bought today!! One corner piled with baby stuff ready to put away when nursery finished, the other corner lot of boxes to go into attic when we can find someone to help DH get them up there, and an exercise bike and gym machine to be advertised for sale! Ooo can't wait for it to painted and furniture built and then I can wash and put away tiny little clothes and do the finishing touches! Things really seem to moving along nicely now!

How was everyone elses bank holiday?!

I'm off down to Bournemouth tomorrow with my Mum and Sis to two nights - Mum phoned today seeing if I fancied a spur of the moment couple of days away! DH thought it was a great idea and insisted that I'm going so how could I refuse! I'm sure he thinks its great because now he'll get two days of uninterupped xbox time on his new game that he just happened to get today!! Haha! Even better about this break is that Mum is paying! Hooray!

thecoffeelady · 31/05/2010 23:37

Hello Ladies!

Well I am 30 weeks today!!!
My NCT group from dd met up at Poultons Park yeterday to celebrate the LO's 2nd birthday. despite a dodgy start to the day we had great weather, I manage to get some impressive sunburn. DD had a great day and was really tired when we got home.

Today we had a BBQ to celebrate DD and DP birthdays. We had about 50 people over and I cooked for everyone, I am knackered now though. It was a lovely day and I think everyone had a nice time. My wonderful friend called me at 9am to ask me if we wanted them to have DD while we got everything sorted for the BBQ. We dropped her off at 9:30 and they bought her back in time for the BBQ, she played with their 3 DC's they fed her lunch and let her nap, they are really lovely and proper friends, we are very lucky to have them.

I am off to bed even though I have a very busy tonight and I think it is having a salsa party in my tummy tonight.

I am

girlsyearapart · 01/06/2010 07:55

alice so feeling exactly the same!
Although the ones when I was in hospital didn't stop overnight.

Can't believe with 9 wks left I'm feeling like the baby could come whenever..

Got 2 night spa holiday next week so the baby can come after that if it wants!

vix I didn't have any BH at all with the girls- no contractions at all until it was the real thing.

marzipananimal · 01/06/2010 09:37

has anyone got babygrows from sainsburys? I bought some yesterday (newborn size) but they look huge! Am a bit concerned that unless I have a massive baby (please no!), it will get lost in them. Do sizes vary a lot between shops?

Have a great time in Bournemouth caz vix i'm not sure whether i've had any BH or not - certainly no very strong ones

Alicetheinvisible · 01/06/2010 10:30

Morning

marzi i don't think i ever got any babygrows from there, but DD has had quite a lot of clothes from Sainsburys and i have always been really impressed with them. Clothes vary so much in size. Same as adult shops really. Some are better for width and some better for length, some shrink terribly and some seem to stretch. I would get a pack from a couple of different shops tbh, rather than all from the same.
DD was in Adam's newborn/small baby/up to 7.5lbs babygrows for ages, despite being 7.4lb born.

Feeling quite positive this morning. Have got a very busy June, so baby is not allowed out til July at the earliest. I have told it! I am also deciding to not put my life on hold just incase things start up again, but going to be sensible about what i can and can't do!

bouncingblueberries · 01/06/2010 11:50

alice and girls hope those babies do as they are told and stay put for a bit longer!

elusive hope you are over your erm 'incident' must have been awful but at least it was just your bladder reminding you to get going with those pelvic floor exercises!

caz glad you had a fab day - yay! for getting organised and shopping trips

Feeling a bit more organised myself now. Picked up a replacement rocker stand for the moses basket, ordered ds his bunkbeds and have his new wardrobe stored in the shed. Trouble is, dh did his back in yesterday (cleaning the bathroom of all things!) so how we're going to assemble THREE item of flat pack furniture I have no idea . Bunkbeds getting delivered tomorrow and if ds finds out they're here but he can't sleep in them he will go bananas!

Feel all tearful today - worried about dh and his back. He damaged it about 6 years ago and was off work for almost a year...and I know he's playing it down in front of me because he doesn't want to get me stressed.

Eeeek!

Dibbydab · 01/06/2010 13:49

Bouncing I'm feeling your pain re flat packed stuff, we were reasonably able bodied (apart from me not being able to bend over due to heartburn/general size of bump - or baby gut as DH calls it nice!) and managed to get the cotbed and a swingseat for the garden put up yesterday - mind you we were nearly filing for divorce half way through doing the cotbed.

Anyway, now cotbed is up we've figured there is space for a nursing chair in the room, so I'm going to scout around for one - any recommendations?

Had my 31 week docs appt today - crumbs, I'm glad my other appts have been with midwife, but I did manage to get an industrial size vat of Gaviscon from him. Baby still head down and measuring fine for dates so we're all systems go. 5 weeks left at work and counting

Bubbabear · 01/06/2010 15:15

Hello everyone, sorry been awol for a while [hands round muchos cookies & cream ice cream] I have been around in the background & trying to keep up but not had much time to get on the laptop & post anything.

Am on halfterm for the week so 'relaxing' inbetween the mountains of paperwork & reports i have to do! Am trying to get as much done as i can before my final stint of 7 weeks of term, cant wait until 23rd July when i finally start maternity leave! Quite a few women at work r very sceptical (although supportive) that i'll make it until the summer hols but we'll see! I think, like some other ladies on here, i need to start forcing myself to slow down & take things easier at work. Tho I did manage a whole day of wandering around Marwell Zoo on my class school trip last monday (ie hottest day of the year!) which i reckon some people thought i was mad going on. Was sweltering but great fun, i love school trips

All this talk of babies arriving early is getting a bit scary. REALLY do not want to go into labour while at work! Plus DP is now going to be away in Switzerland for the last two weeks of July so fingers crossed please that baby bubbabear is definately an August baby! Means i need to be at least 37 weeks when LO decides to appear!

I did have my first proper baby dream the other night. I was at home asleep in bed, woke up (in my dream) with DP under the duvet shouting 'baby's coming, I can see the head!'. Then, with no pain whatsoever, baby was delivered by a very calm DP no more than 5 minutes later & that was that! [hmmm] lol If only...

Baby was laying very funny last week & the most uncomfortable he's been so far. Think he was transverse as a few times there seemed to be 2 big lumps sticking out either side of the front of my bump. Am pretty sure one was a bottom & one a head, just not sure which was which! Thank you to whoever put on the link to how you can tell how baby is laying. Although just as i think ive worked it out the lil monkey moves again & just wants to keep me guessing!
I was talking to my sister-in-law about hospital bag contents & the thing she says I really need to make sure i have in there is big pants! She said think of the Bridget Jones type pants that you class as big now & get some that are even bigger without any seams or anything for maximum comfort.

Just a few things to ask;
Does anyone have any suggestions about what a good christening present would be? (Its for my niece).

Also, has anybody got / used with previous pregnancy a support strap bump belt to wear? Now that bubs is feeling heavier when im walking around i wondered which ones are the most effective / worth getting?

Hope everyone is well & congrats to all those who have reached the 30 week mark, it does seem to be a nice milestone

CherryPie3 · 01/06/2010 16:29

Hi everyone Welcome Poncherello

I'm ofrficially in the clear . After mw and consultant saying I would probably give birth before 30wks, I'm almost 32wks and they've decided theres no reason I won't go to term - woohoo!!!!! (secretly hoping for a 37/38wker tho )

Caz your 'friend' seems to have a bit of an issue (or issues) with you for some reason. I agree tho that you've done what you can to try and smooth things over and she isn't up for that. Time to move on maybe?
And I'm very about your nursery - it sounds like things are chugging along nicely for you.
Lets hope you get some answers for your dh tho, soon!!

Blueberries I have monents like that where I think if this baby does as dd did, s/he'll be here in 3 or 4 weeks!! Scary!!
And how about your strange neighbours!

Elusive and Vix How scary - just proves its always better to get checked over, glad everything is well with you both.

Alice and GYA Hope you're both still resting [stern look]. Although I understand how frustrating it must be to not be able to do anything. I'm not in the same position by any means but with my SPD I feel quite restricted and it really bugs me when I can't get down on the floor to do a jigsaw with the kids. Not long to go now tho really

Dibby Can I join the flat-pack club please? We went mad at the weekend and bought the new wardrobes and drawers we've been wanting for ages, paid for by the awesome HIP , we just need to put them ip now . Think I may ask fil to come and do them, he's a bit of a hnadyman/diy expert .

Bubba 'fraid I'm rubbish with christening presents - we tend to ask the parents if theres anything they need for their lo and take it from there. You're supposed to give silver tho I think...[scratches head]. Dunno!!
WRT to support belts - I got given one by physio but it didn't do anything at all for me - but that doesn't mean it won't work for you? You can different ones now as well I think, eBay have a selection I think.

Only 7 shifts to go after this til my mat leave starts!!!! Cannot wait, am impossibly excited

Hope you're all well

bubba there is quite a cute range of kids jewellery called D is for Diamonds you can get it at John Lewis or probably online you could try that.

Alicetheinvisible · 01/06/2010 17:09

DD got a lovely little silver locket with a diamond in from D is for Diamonds for her christening. I am not keen on 'kids' jewellery but this is very nice.
For my Goddaughter i got her a Links of London charm bracelet with an initial charm on. Came to about £90 though

This baby is on the move a lot again, you would think he would have pretty much run out of space by now but apparently not

Bubbabear I had the bumpband and the mothercare m2b support belt last time. The m2b belt was easy to put on but not supportive unless it was tight and the velcro bit was darned uncomfortable. I loved the bumpbands but they did have to get shimmied on. I shall not be using the m2b this time...

Chulita · 01/06/2010 19:34

Can I just have a bit of a whinge please?

MW appt today and she thought the baby had an odd heartbeat so went in to have it checked out and it's got an ectopic heartbeat which means it skips every now and then. Apparently it usually sorts itself out within a month of birth if not before but I need to have weekly FHR checks with MW. We got another scan because they were having problems finding the HR and needed to find out how it was lying and it's transverse/breech I know we've got time to turn but the MW assured me this morning that it was in a good position, despite me saying that it was transverse so now I really don't trust her! Just hoping LO's heart beat sorts itself out...also gave us a big flash session so it's not a surprise anymore, sonographer was more worried about the heart than keeping it a secret!

dibby we've got a glider chair from mothercare and it's very comfy, I love it!

Anyway, DH is off this week and he's cooked twice in a row which is lurvely!

Hope everyone has a fabulous evening

girlsyearapart · 02/06/2010 08:35

Oh what a pain chulita.

So by 'a good position' does she mean it's a good position to turn itself back round??

And does this mean you're having a boy if you got a flash?!

I can't remember what you were hoping for/have already.

I don't trust my midwife much either- tend to take pretty much everything she says with a pinch of salt.

Off for a day in the park today then out with 15 girlfriends tonight to see SATC2 and pizza for my birthday which is on Friday

CherryPie3 · 02/06/2010 08:37

Chulita I'm sorry you had a crappy day yesterday . How worrying for you.
My friend had this I think but she was about 35 weeks when it was detected - her son is almost 5 now and he's very hyper and healthy, a typical little boy . And I know it's a disapointment for you that the sonographer wasn't very discreet but checking baby's heart must be more of a priority for you?
I don't mean that to sound patronizing and I apologise if it does, I'm not very good with words.

OP posts:
Chulita · 02/06/2010 08:53

gya the MW thought it was head down and ready to go...that's why I'm annoyed, they can't tell where the baby is but they still assure you it's fine. That's why we struggled so much with DD, I knew she was OP but they told me she wasn't, I told them this LO was transverse but they said he wasn't...I'm going to fight for a positioning scan at about 37wks cos I'm not taking anyone's word for it!

And yes, it's a boy Which is fine because we weren't especially wanting either one or the other. DH's grin when he saw the bits was enormous!! cherry you don't sound patronising at all and it's great to know that your friend's son is fine. I was a bit worried but yea, absolutely fine with finding out - just good to know that the heart is working!

pamplem0usse · 02/06/2010 09:01

Chulita sorry you had such a hard day... hopefully things will sort themselves out in due course.

I wonder if anyone can help.... I'm looking for traditional nursery type fabrics to make bunting / various other things with for babies nursery. Lots of the fabrics tend to be very vivid. Can anyone suggest where I might find some interesting ones online (i've done Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley...)

xxxx

Alicetheinvisible · 02/06/2010 09:06

Morning

Chulita sorry to hear about your stressful day. I don't trust my MW at all either if that helps. 2 of my friends had very serious complications due to her neglect, and at my 25week app i told her i was getting a lot of BH and she said, "oh, thats good" is it?

Bad evening again last night but had done a bit too much last night.

CherryPie3 · 02/06/2010 09:57
