whiteroses It does seem like it must cost a fair bit! I at least expected crap pages, not nice ones!! My 'what to expect' book has crappier pages and i paid for it!! Its nice to see me actually getting something out of my taxes though!! LOL.

Feeling a lot better about my sudden stabbing pain I had. I get a wee bit crampy if i move a certain way but to be honest its always ended up being gas..lol so im going to stop worrying unless i have something proper to worry about...easier said than done i know..lol

Thank you girls for all your supportive words about the hubbys being a bit weird...i guess its cause its not happening to their bodies they dont quite get it but you girls have made me feel so much better like its not just my man that seems a bit uninterested. Guess its the whole, if i cant see it...its not there thing..lol!!

[sprays air freshener] My kid is going to have an extra leg from the chemicals in my air freshener...ive never had so much wind in my life!! Will this let up?? PLEASE SAY IT WILL!!

Tomorrow we are having a bbq so wish me luck on disguising my drinks...this will be such a challenge...but i think staying awake till an unnoticeable time will be more of a challenge. My hubby sprang this on me when we were out with our friends that we were having a bbq tomorrow and didnt even consult me...but it wouldnt have bothered me if i hadnt taken a pg test about 3 hours before with a faint positive...i hadnt even told him yet, but even still...no consultation..ugh..MEN! Sorry..done my rant!

bunny so sorry about the long posts and sorry the computer is making you sick

hobnob hang in there!!

worrisome i think that my DH takes it in as well when i do talk about stuff which is good, but like white says, its our bodies so it must mean more to us..specially when every waking minute something feels funny..if we arent puking our boobs hurt and if our boobs dont hurt our waistbands are too tight and if they arent tight we are probably hungry, tired, itchy, gassy or exhausted!!! I think i have just talked myself into understanding as well! lol!!

Hoping for sunshine tomorrow!! Until Sunday! Happy Weekend to all!!

haloflo · 07/05/2010 22:16

homebound thank you so much for all that information! I certainly am on folic acid. I decided to ring my doctors today to see what I should do next. The receptionist just told me to call back when i'm 8-10 weeks to sort out an appointment with a midwife. So no shiny book for me She was a bit rude actually and asked me if I was sure im pregnant. She's made me doubt myself now, maybe 1 test isn't enough proof? Can't believe have done 6! I am tempted to do a CB digi though, just to see the word come up.

I'm not surprised you freaked yourself out with that pain. I'm conscious of every twinge. I'm had a little cramping today but no blood. (I take it you are doing the crazy knicker checking?)

Also I made the silly mistake of asking my DP if he thought about the baby all day. He said er no? I've been really busy at work. Pfft! Its all I think about! Like you say though its just because we feel different and they can't feel that. In his defence though so far hes been really cute about it and keeps smiley in a happy knowing way when we are out and about. I hope your DH doesn't get you down.

Good luck with your BBQ & avoiding the awkward why aren't you drinking conversation. I have a family wedding in May. "Vodka" soda and limes for all night for me.

hermya321 I cry at almost every episode of greys and a dog dying would tip me over the edge most days so I don't know how i'll cope when the hormones really get going.

mumsnerves Really excited for your scan. What date is it? If I go at 12 weeks I'll be waiting til July. Feels like forever away!

Hello to worrisomeheartI think its sinking in, my intial feeling of fear has been replaced by quiet happiness. Thanks for asking

Hello to hobnob too, can't wait to know if you are having a chocolate milk loving girl or boy! I'm sorry to hear you are still being sick still but its really nice to hear that you are loving being pregnant now.

bunny Poor you being sick again! I hope you don't have to stay away from MN for too long.

As for me, i'm officially 4 weeks today! Sounds so scarily early that. Sympton wise my boobs are very sore. I had to sleep in a bra last night as I otherwise it hurt to move.

Also the worst thing at the monent is that i'm really really bloated. I'm not sure if i've been very regular this week (sorry if tmi!) and maybe thats why. I measured my waist and its 2 inches bigger than normal and i constantly feel like i'm about to pop. Not very nice. I hope it passes soon. (mind the pun) Its put me off my food and I not enjoying eating at all. I am still eating though, just getting full really quickly then hungry again! I don't mind the boobs so much as its a reminder that i'm still pregnant.

For EDD I'm going to go with the LMP plus 40 weeks as per roses. So thats 14/01/11.

Updated list.

The sickness didn't keep me away for long after all!! I feel 100% better today. I had a really bad headache with the sickness so I think it was more migraine than ms. I spent yesterday lying on the sofa and it's completely gone today

roses I do keep dropping hints to DH saying I wonder if the baby will get be anything for Mother's Day. DH's usual response is that I'm not a mother yet....this means one of two things - he has something planned and is trying to surprise me, or that he really is a miserable bloke

I didn't realise it was possible to have so many things wrong with your pelvis - hope the physio gets it sorted for you.

homebound I hate to tell you but the wind will be a constant feature until the LO is born!!

Good luck with the BBQ - my DH has been known to invite loads of people round, then tell me about it, and then expect me to do the catering. Remember to check all of your food is properly cooked through as well.

halo at your doctor's receptionist asking if you were sure you were pg. Medical receptionists are a special breed of person though I just booked an appointment with my GP without saying what it was for - although the system is slightly different over here and we have to see GP first and discuss with them whether we want obstrician or midwife care, and public vs private hospital.

I opted for private, but might live to regret it as we have Fox sports on the in-room TVs so I doubt DH will be paying much attention to me or the baby as the ashes is starting around my EDD At least he might turn up and visit us thought - if there was no sports channel he'd probably just forget to turn up!

I've got netball this afternoon - it's only the third game of the season, but it might have to be my last. I'm starting to struggle with keeping up with all of the running around now. I'd love to keep playing, but I'm not going to be doing me or LO any favours by exhausting myself running around after opposition players who are 10 years younger than me

chancewouldbeafinething · 08/05/2010 15:39

Congratulations Halo & Welcome sazzie

worrisome yes you remembered right! I am getting excited about moving back - but i think we really have to start selling and packing things soon. and no worries your not nosey...its all fair game on here How r u feeling? i think u are the closest to my EDD. My belly has really popped out this week.

hobnob sorry to hear you are still being sick, good luck with the scan next week

bunny oh no hope MN is not making you sick let us know if you do get something tomorrow....

roses hope that is the last problem they find with your pelvis - it cant be much fun for you at the moment.

home i think until it is really obvious- scan or you are really showing, men have no idea. My DH decided he was going to cook dinner everyday so i could rest, it lasted about a week! he has done much more than normal around the house. but i really dont think they can realise how it effects us. tbf before i was pregnant i had no idea either!

halo drinking lots of water and cutting down or out caffeine sorted out my bloating and toilet issues, and i have been going like clock work since about week 5 (i used to be a BIG coffee & diet coke drinker)

trying I hope we hear from you soon...its very exciting!!!!!!

and because i havent updated my EDD i thought it was about time ....

WorrisomeHeart · 08/05/2010 19:12

hobnob Sorry to hear you're still being sick - but as you say, at least it's on a schedule! I'm loving the chocolate milk as well, but not sure how the baby feels about it yet - I just tell myself it's good calcium!

bunny thats a fab way to commute! It's almost like Flying Doctors.. although am I right in thinking you work in law? Sorry if I'm mixing you up with someone else! Glad the sickness isn't so bad now.

roses I think you're onto something with the whole DH being more interested in the time after the birth - I guess it doesn't feel as real to him as it does me, he's just got a wife who's whiny and tired!

homebound sorry to say the gas hasn't eased up here! I think it's an occupational hazard unfortunately!! You need a dog you can blame it on... I just blame it on DH!

halo Don't worry about narky GP receptionists - when I rang (at about 5 weeks) she said 'well it's a bit early to be booking an appt'. I was like, well the NHS advice is contact your GP STRAIGHT AWAY! As it was I just said 'well, when do you suggest i come in?' She then booked me in for that week! Daft thing!

chance yep, we're very close! My bump has really popped too, it's lovely! And I think I MAY have felt the LO moving around today - although it might have been gas! When's your next scan? Mine is booked in for the 1st of June, and I can't wait!

I am completely exhausted - our poor old banger of a car failed it's MOT yesterday so it's brought the whole 'buying a family car' thing forward a bit (we were planning on changing up soon anwyay, but thought it might be a bit more relaxed!). Anyway, we've been looking at used car lots for 6 hours today! I am completely exhausted - we basically trekked from Croydon to Hanwell via Tolworth and central London - and all via public transport! I am at that stage where you almost want to cry for tiredness, but am trying to stay awake for Britain's Got Talent (love the cheese!)

Hope you are all having great weekends!

bunnygirl80 · 09/05/2010 00:23

worrisome I think it's ozzie that's a lawyer - I'm an orthodontist

Sorry about your car. It sounds like an absolute nightmare having to travel around all those used car places. Did you find anything in the end?

chance you must be so excited about moving back. If I was you I would try and buy as much baby stuff as you can in the UK and bring it over here with you. Baby clothes seem to be really expensive over here compared with the cheap brands in the UK. I'm trying to persuade my parents and ILs to bring stuff over with them when they come to visit. The ILs will definitely have room in their suitcase as they left heaps of their crap belongings with us last time they were here

I think I've finally got to the bottom of why my MIL went crazy and told everyone I'm pg. We spoke to her last night and she mentioned she'd been to the hosptial. We assumed it was for her annual cancer check, but apparantly not. She had that weeks ago, and they found a new lump , so she's been having it investigated. It's in a really awkward place so the needle biopsy she's had has failed to get enough tissue for a diagnosis so she may have to have surgery to diagnose it properly. So obviously she's been under a fair amount of stress recently, and I think she was just trying to take her mind off things. Hopefully it'll all turn out to be ok for her.

homebound · 09/05/2010 09:36

OK, i have TMI (too much info) question! Am i supposed to be getting discharge??

haloflo I would just book an appointment with your GP, screw the receptionist! Most receptionists have a God complex. Im serious, you shouldnt be made to feel like that! Where is it you stay? Cause if you are in England or Scotland you should be getting the same book we got and it starts the learning process from week 1-4.

The bbq went well yesterday, my hubby just kept smiling and beaming at me all day..made me feel so good! He was trying to help me as much he could which was great, but i got really snippy yesterday trying to get all the food out together....i was trying my best to chill out. I got myself all wound up so had to sit and rest for a while. I was drinking Oasis in a wine glass (the berry one) so it just looked like wine! YAY! I made the stupid mistake of lifting my seven year old nephew up to give him kisses...my SIL nearly killed me and i scared the living shit crap out of myself. Oh ya..so we told our families yesterday...we couldnt stand it anymore. Everyone is soooooo happy and im so happy to make everyone so happy...now all i have to do is keep LO in there!!

I got the greatest idea on here for telling my parents and it was amazing!! One of the most unforgettable times in my life! Because my parents are in Canada and im in Scotland i had to tell them over the phone. So i told my mom i had seen something really cool and wanted to show them. (not a lie, i had seen the positive pregnancy tests) I asked her to get some rice (because they didnt have any apples to get the seeds out of) and put one grain in dads palm and one bit in her palm and then just said 'thats how big your grandchild is right now' (its their first) and it was dead silent for about 30 straight seconds then i said 'hello' and my dad just started laughing..i assume because my mom had just crapped was in shock then the tears and screaming prevailed! Ive have had the best feeling since then! So yesterday was great because we told DHs mum as well and BIL and SIL. Plus i phoned my grandmother and asked her how she felt about another great grandchild which she was absolutely chuffed.

worrisome I dont have a dog, but i was in my office by myself friday afternoon and i kept spraying perfume into the fan in case someone came in because if i had gotten up to go to the loo everytime i needed to 'fluff' id never get any work done! lol

TTFN

Hermya321 · 09/05/2010 10:37

Hellllooo there ladies!!!

How are all you this fine slightly cloudy day?

I've had to start using a bobble to extend the button on my work trousers to keep them comfy. I mean my work trousers are actually quite nice and comfy anyway (they also have lots of pockets, never can have enough pockets or pens for that matter) but the person who purchased them decided that they should be Simon Cowell esk and so they're up near my belly button. Which is the part of me that has expanded slightly lately.

I also have a horrid cough, which is just annoying.

Fudge Do you have a bump yet? Has the bleeding stopped yet?

Homebound Aww bless your workmate! I have a friend at work who is 27 weeks at the moment and I was asking her about buying stuff and she said that she wasn't until near the end as she didn't want to jinx her pregnancy. I was a bit befuddled at what she was saying, I just nodded at her but in the back of my mind I did think 'how is the fact that you have a pack of babygros in your house going to affect the health of your baby?'. Each to their own I suppose, I know things do happen, I think I'm more of a 'hope for the best' kind of person.

Bunny You flying Ortho you, do you rush around with a dentist bag looking all concerned at tooth related emergencies? I know you probably don't, but I'm going to imagine you do . Apparently my LO can hear stuff now, the first sounds my kid is hearing is it's Mum singing along to Paramore in the car. You know how some babies get soothed by music they hear in the womb, I wonder if it would work with angry chick rock music. Well it makes me laugh thinking about it.

Mumsnerves I'm going to cook it tomorrow, I want to enjoy cooking it and then eat it with a glass of wine. I am really looking forward to it. I decided it wouldn't be the same to put all that effort into it to then eat it in some office somewhere from a plastic tub.

Hobnob Wow you're nearly twenty weeks, how cool is that!! I remember your BFP as well!!

White My scan is on the 8th June, I'm trying to save it for then. But theres one of those private scan places that will do a gender scan for £45. I'm sssssssssoooooooo tempted, but I've only got four weeks to wait and two of those I'll be on a course so it'll break it up a bit.

Homebound Yep totally normal if it looks kinda creamy or clear, I think it's called Locacia or something like that. If it's green or some other funky colour and is tres smelly get thee to a Doctor. I've had the first kind, I've been through boxes of pantyliners like you would not believe. Oh get a plug in airfreshner for your office, it could help.

homebound · 09/05/2010 13:51

Thank you so much hermya you have put my mind at rest!!

fudgecat · 09/05/2010 18:06

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, shame it?s not a bit warmer but never mind eh?

halo lol at your 6 tests, I managed to stop after 3 tests You have my sympathy for the sore boobs, mine are at their worse first thing in the morning but they are not so bad when they have got used to me being upright again

bunny great to hear you are feeling better again ? did you get anything for mothers day today? Are you sure you are having the baby in a hospital? Sounds more like a posh hotel to me Sorry to hear about your MIL, hope all works out ok for her x

chance One week of getting dinner cooked for you isn?t too bad my DP is doing his best to help out in the house more, he has done a smashing job on cleaning the bathroom today but I don?t think he realises how much will need doing when splodge arrives!

worrisome chocolate = calcium = good for baby if we just keep repeating it then it will be true Have you managed to find a new car?

homebound I love the way you told your mum and dad. Is this going to be their first grandchild?

hermya nope still no bump as such, maybe a bit more podgy than normal but I have been eating utter crap in the last week. No spotting for 24 hours now touch wood it has stopped for good and I can at least relax a bit until I see the consultant in a few weeks about the low platelets.

Right I?m off to shout ?hurry up? at the oven, doing roast pork this evening and the smell is making me drool

chancewouldbeafinething · 09/05/2010 20:24

worrisome My next scan is 26/5, we also can not wait. DH is very excited that we are going to find out the sex...i just hope they can tell us!

Home Yes i am afraid it has something to do with the progesterone going around your body, you will produce excess mucus! nice hey?

Bunny I know i have thought of that, every time i go back i walk into the shops and go 'how much?!?' we are going to find out what we are having so shopping will be on the cards BIG time before we leave. I have already picked up a few uni-sex items from Gap when they were on sale. I cant believe how much moses baskets are in OZ, here mother care has the whole thing for £40 (ok stand is another £20) but you are looking at at least $200 in Oz. I have been looking at an organic one something pod. I hope one comes up on Ebay before we get back.
Sorry to hear about your MIL, it could explain everything. I hope they sort it out as fast as my MIL's treatment has been.
Did you get any mothers day treats?

fudge thats true a week is better than no week at all right? and it was when i was feeling really bad, much better now so i dont mind doing stuff. DH has been finalising his visa for Oz and part of the application asks how we divide chores in our home, it was funny to see that he thinks he does all the cleaning - apparently i just clean the bathroom! MEN! i had to laugh and ask him when was the last time he dusted...i am still waiting for the answer. oh well

While I was cooking dinner tonight (lots of bending over to look in the oven etc) I saw my tummy change shape! how weird is that? Because i have an anterior placenta i havent been able to feel movement from the outside just inside, so at least DH was there to see it moving. I am just past 18 weeks now, so hopefully he will be able to feel it soon.

Hope everyone had a good weekend

mumnerves · 09/05/2010 21:26

hobnob76 nice to have you back, sorry the MS is hitting you so hard, everytime I feel sorry for myself I think of women like yourself and realise that I'm having it pretty easy really, glad you're coping with it better now. So cute that LO loves choc milk

whiteroses my hols run apr-apr too and like you am hoping to tag some in front and back as well

homebound thanks for the perspective on DH. I never thought of it that way that it's happening to our bodies and hence it's constantly on our minds. I said that to DH today and I think he appreciated the perspective. Glad you enjoyed your BBQ and that the weather held out for you! What a lovely way to tell your parents! Ours is No 1 for both sides as well and we also have to tell them over the phone, but we're waiting till after the first scan.

haloflo scan is a week on tues, I think I'll be a bag of nerves on that day! Yours will come sooner than you realise. I remember just after getting my BFP Yorkshire and Bunny were just going for their scans and I was exactly like you thinking it would be forever. Especially so as well if you're hardly telling anyone, it can feel pretty lonely, but your next few weeks will fly by! Nothing drags like the 2ww and now that we're over that time seems to go normally

Bunnygirl well done you to still play netball at this stage! I get exhausted just walking uphill and have gone from going to the gym 3-4 times a week to just walking as exercise and the occasional yoga class. Glad you're feeling better and sorry to hear about your MIL's lump

Hermya I agree you should enjoy it, I used to love cooking so definately put some TLC into it and enjoy it mouthful by mouthful!

chance at the price of baskets in oz!! I'm guessing you don't have anyone you could buy one from? Most people I know have them given to them, we won't as we've got no one close who've just had babies and it's all going to cost us quite a bit!

yorkshire and trying hope you are both ok!

Finally got to tell someone today, I rang my sister up and told her she was going to be an auntie. Don't want to tell my parents or in-laws just as neither can keep secrets and I don't want the pitiful looks if I do end up having a mc. She was over the moon and it was so nice to talk to someone other than DH about it!
HAve a nice rest of the day everyone and a good week!

bunnygirl80 · 10/05/2010 05:30

homebound you do get an increase in secretions - you will start to produce more snot and salova as well

I love the way you told your parents, and it sounds like they're over the moon

hermya I wish I got to attend emergencies with a special bag, sadly I just sit on a chair in my practice. Hope you finally get to enjoy your mousaka tonight.

fudge the hospital does sound more like a hotel, but as they insist on keeping you in for 5 nights post birth they need nice facilities. One of the other local private hospitals hires out a floor of the Crown Plaza hotel and staffs it with midwives, so if you have no complications you and DH can stay there and use the pool and room service etc

chance I've been buying lots of stuff online from the uk and shipping it over - with the dollar being so strong it still works out cheaper after paying for postage. I've got all my friends buying their clothes from topshop etc now so I think we're probably fully responsible for keeping the uK economy afloat at the moment

Hopefully MIL will get a diagosis sorted asap - it just seems to be dragging on as whatever it is is stuck up against her ribcage so difficult to access for non-invasive tests.

How weird seeing your tummy change shape. I think the first time that happens to me I'll completely freak out

I had my nuchal scan and bloods this morning. Down's risk came back as 1 in 2931 so that's good. LO was misbehaving though and wouldn't lie in the right position. In fact it was lying perfectly when the scan started, so she stopped to check the heart rate, at which point LO decided to turn it's back on us! It took another 20 minutes to persuade it to lie on it's side again It did mean that we got to spend ages looking at LO though so I quite enjoyed it's naughty behaviour, although could have done without the scanner being pressed onto my bladder for such a long time

The one strange thing was that they send you to the nurses in the IVF clinic to get the bloods done. I felt so strange sitting in the waiting room being pg when everyone else there was collecting their medication. It made me think about how lucky we were to conceive so easily compared with what some people have to go through.

Spirael · 10/05/2010 09:15

Morning all! I hope everyone is doing well today. No complaints here - aside from the fact that I have to work a full week this week! Oh well, I've only got five more weeks until maternity leave and only this week and the last one are full weeks. The bank holiday week I only have to work two days, thanks to various bits of holiday I'm using up!

I saw the MW on Friday for my 28 week appointment - though I was actually 29+1. Everything was absolutely fine, it appears that Gadget must have smuggled a manual inside and be following it religiously. Gadget's in exactly the right position already, head down and feet somewhere under my right armpit. My BP is on the low side of normal, which is good apparently, and both Gadget and I have nice relaxed pulse rates. So everything is looking great for me being allowed my homebirth in July! They took some bloods, so hopefully my iron levels are still fine. [crosses fingers]

I can back up what everyone else has said, homebound, that increased discharge is normal. I've been wearing panty liners for the whole pregnancy because of it. By all accounts, as long as it's white/cream and doesn't smell bad then there's no problems. If it goes green or darkish-yellow, thickens or becomes like cottage cheese, or starts to smell foul, then mention it to a MW or GP.

Hermya, you asked about what I do for a living... I'm a Data Analyst for a credit checking agency (that doesn't begin with E). I basically fix up data issues on a really big database with various bits of programming languages. Very geeky, but I quite enjoy it! It also helps that my company is so nice.

Also, regarding LO being able to hear stuff now... I'm half convinced Gadget will pop out humming the BBC News theme tune!! I don't really watch TV, but DH likes to have the news on in the background most of the time, so it's gotta be the most common music Gadget's been hearing!

I didn't see anything from Trying yet... Fingers crossed that means her LO is born and she's too busy cooing over her new addition to post to us!

Did you get anything for Mother's Day, bunnygirl? I didn't get anything earlier in the year for Mother's Day here. But considering that DH's family doesn't really celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day more than giving the appropriate parent a phonecall, I guess I can't be too surprised. I wonder if I'll get anything next year, when Gadget is actually here but too little to understand the day... I'm guessing not. Ah well!

Been starting to experience some nesting instinct here, I think. I keep looking at messy cupboards and deciding I just can't tolerate the state of disorganisation anymore. So I go and get some binbags/shelves/drawers/boxes and have a big clear out, then label everything permitted to stay and put it back neatly. Over last weekend I've rediscovered both the bedrooms and the bathroom. (It turns out the bedroom carpet is blue! )

fudgecat · 10/05/2010 16:50

chance good luck with the moses basket hunt on ebay. I have had a look at a few and they confuse me... how long does the baby use them for and are they just for the baby to sleep in during the day while you are downstairs or do you also use them at night time when the baby is in the bedroom with you? I have no idea about such things yet.
It must be nice\odd to see your tummy move ? I?m looking forward to getting to that stage

mumnerves how did your sister react to the news that she is going to be an auntie?

bunny great news on the results, mine was close to yours at 1-2500

spirael I can?t believe you only have 5 more weeks to go until you are off on maternity leave ? have you got everything you need now?

halo you scared me this morning, I was skimming through the latest news over on the TTC thread and I misread that you were adding yourself back onto their stats!! I thought something bad had happened I read it again and realised you were just updating the list and I calmed down

luckyseven · 10/05/2010 17:48

Hi ladies,

I have been so guilty of reading and not responding the last week or so haven't really had much to share, seriously i thought the tww was long but the wait for the scan is incredible - has time stood still?

Will catch up with messages next time and will use this thread to get back in the game!

Anyway I was 8 weeks on Thursday there and scan is on the 2nd June when i will be just short of 11 weeks. Hospital were really nice about rescheduling it because i am on my rearranged holiday on the date they first offered me - stupid ash cloud and now it is back! Starting to get nervous as i decided not to go private so this will be the day we find out if everything is ok.

You might remember i turned 30 at the start of the month and was stressing about the not drinking. Didn't go in for the elaborate wine switch as dh thought i was a lunatic but pulled it off by getting the waitress to say gin and tonic when she brought my soda and lime to the table in rounds and dh drank ghis own red wine and mine - so i think we got away with it.

Told my parents, dh's parents and our sisters on the same weekend, makes it seem a lot more real and amazing to see how happy our news makes other people. dh's mother is being treated for her 2nd cancer in less than a year and it was amazing to tell her that when she gets through the six months of chemo she can look forward to holding her first grandchild. You would have thought we had given her a million pounds - such a great memory, fingers crossed everything works out.

Has anyone else been really cold when pregnant? I am constantly cold and my skin is completely broken out, no other symptoms except for a few wretchs here and there, excess burping after eating oh and a week of horrible trapped wind and sleepless nights at 7 weeks, i even had to buy prunes and force feed myself!

I promise to be a better frolicker from now on and catch up more regularly.

haloflo i have mailed you the contact details for mrswaj to pass on the lucky CBFM

homebound · 10/05/2010 18:29

thanks so much to everyone who answered my embarassing TMI question! Its exactly as you describe and now im not worried at all!

lucky Ive been cold and im known for always being hot, always over heating, but im cold all the time lately so you arent alone! I also feel prunes are in my future....gag I also have to be very careful to remember to wash my face well morning and night ( no going to bed with makeup anymore) as i have been breaking out as well.

spirael Yay for baby Gadget following all the rules!! Sounds like a perfect healthy baby

chance how exciting!!! Yay for you!!!

ttfn

Hermya321 · 10/05/2010 20:48

Well after two hours slaving away over the stove, I finally made my Mousakka. It was so so yummy, I've also got a tub of ice cream waiting in the fridge for me as well.

I was also very naughty and had some wine as well.

Lucky I was the same, I spent about three weeks wrapped in a quilt and hot water bottles.

Spirael Gosh, data analyst. I couldn't do anything like that, I'm not really one for Office work. I would destroy that company from within with my disorganisation and general bad admin voodoo. Despite this I'm very good with forms and general to do lists.

Bunny That sounds like it would be hard for those people waiting to be seen. Your LO sounds like mine, I'm convinced that he'll be mooning us at the next scan.

Fudge Nahhhh no bump for me either yet, just slightly less flatter than normal.

Mumsnerves Awwww bless your sister, yeah next time I do this sort of thing. I'm telling people a couple of weeks before it's born.

OP posts:
bunnygirl80 · 11/05/2010 00:27

Spirael I got nothing for Mother's Day. We went for a walk and there were loads of families out having picnics and I said to DH that he will have to make a picnic for me next year. His comment was that I'm not his mum and so the baby will be responsible for arranging any mother's day presents!!!

When your done nesting at your house you can come round to mine if you like....it's a complete tip at the moment

fudge I think baby can sleep in a moses basket at night too - you would just have to move it from one room to another. There's been a discussion about them on the November ante-natal thread, and some ladies on there only got about 6-8weeks use out of them as they had big babies that outgrew them, others used them for 5 months or so.

luckyseven how nice that you were able to cheer your MIL up with your news. I was constantly freezing for about the first 10 weeks - I think it's related to lots of your blood going to your uterus rather than your skin.

hermya yay for your mousakka. I haven't made mousakka for ages and now I'm feeling inspired to dig out the recipe

When we spoke to MIL the other day we asked when they were planning on coming to visit. I wish we hadn't now, as she has decided that they will be coming over in early November so that they can be on stand by until the baby is born, and they will be staying for 4 months I was really hoping to have 3 or 4 weeks to ourselves after the baby arrives, but it seems like MIL has other plans.

At least from what she has said they're not planning on staying with us, and they want to be in Queensland during November, so it will take them a couple of days at least to drive back down to Sydney. Not sure how I'm going to explain to them that I don't want visitors for more than a couple of hours for the first 2 weeks......perhaps DH could just forget to ring them for a week or so after I've had the baby

Pidgin · 11/05/2010 18:00

Hello ladies - wow, a couple of weeks off MN for me and we have a whole new thread! Great to catch up on everyone's news. Not much to report from me, apart from a spreading waistline ... and bottom ... and hips ...

haloflo · 11/05/2010 20:36

Hello! I hope everyone is well. Just thought i'd catch up whilst DP is watching the football.

Did anyone go for an early private scan? What was it like? Worth it or not? I know some of you have gone fully private but for anyone doing the standard NHS route have you decided to pay for an extra that early? They will do them locally at 7 weeks for £65.00 and I'm just so desperate to know my baby is developing that i'm seriously considering it. Obviously at only 4+4 thats still a while away but the 12 week milestone is stretching out ahead.

Symptons wise its really just the boobs that are sore but I guess its still early days. Any nausea seems to have calmed down now i'm taking things easier and not running.

My feelings of excitement keep getting shouted down by anxious feelings. I kinda wish I didn't know so soon! Damn my short cycles, testing on CD 27 and sensitive pregnancy tests.

mumsnerves I'm glad the scan is coming round fast for you and when I look back on the past week its flow by. I think its when you think too far ahead that its just feels like it will never happen. A week today, just 7 more days.

chance Thanks for the tips about bloating. I have switched to decaf tea and am focusing on going whenever I feel the need and I feel much better.

worrisome I'm sorry you had the same experience! They must hear it daily and forget what a massive deal it is to find out you are pregnant. I'm so excited you might be able to feel movement. Keep us updated.

bunny I'm very sorry to hear about your MIL. I really hope she will be ok. I told my sister despite your warnings but she has promised to maintain secrecy and actually told me not to be telling anyone.

homebound You are a star for asking that question! I have that too, very glad to hear its normal. The way you told your parents is amazing. I felt like I confessing something a bit naughty as my mum didn't know we were TTC & we aren't married.

fudgecat Sorry to have scared you over updating the conception thread. I just couldn't bare to see the stats left for over a day. Such a geek!

lucky CBFM posted Lovely to hear you are telling people. I have also been cold but the temperature has fallen in the past few days so I'm not sure I can count it as a sympton. I'll keep you informed.

chancewouldbeafinething · 11/05/2010 20:45

bunny great news that you had a long scan...and that the odds are really good! I know the dollar is so strong i am dreading exchanging money at the moment...when i came here it was 2.2 now its 1.66...hopefully with Mr Cameron now in power the pound will go up!
Hope your MIL gets some results soon, that must be uncomfortable in that position!

Spirael Well done to Gadget for being able to read before even being born! Good news that the home birth is still on the cards for you.

fudge well i think they can sleep in the basket up until 4-6 months. Some people like it just so they can keep them in the parents bedroom until they are big enough for the cot. I want it because we will be staying with my brother who has very kindly let us use his 'granny flat' but it has just one bedroom and i think the cot will too big. We will only be there for a few months so by the time LO is big enough we should be in our own place. Our friends rave about theirs (weird i know)

lucky how fantastic that your MIL has something to look forward to now. It is a hard time that you are at, but trust me once the first scan is over it flies by...i am already 18 weeks!
Sorry to say though I am still burping and the sleepless nights havent stopped yet...and if one more person says its practice for when the baby arrives i will be forced to kill them!
Oh and the coldness could be because your blood is all going to the baby now...it was a side effect of my low blood pressure

bunny OMG 4 months of your in-laws!! I really do not envy you, that is going to be hard for DH to explain, but i am sure they will be ok,,,eventually. Maybe you can give them other ideas that they can do on the way to and from Queensland...let me know if you need help!

Thank god that we have a prime minister and the bbc and every other tv/radio/paper can move on to something different. I have to say DH has been very into it, so maybe thats why it seems like all i hear about.

Anyway hope everyone is well

luckyseven · 11/05/2010 21:11

chance i too will welcome some new news i have got a bit sucked into the election but when the camerons walked into number ten my first thought was ' i wonder if they will sleep in gordon and sarah s bed and has someone changed the sheets? Halo i am seriously thinking of costing an early scan but just the scan. I would def pay sixty five. My sister went private for everything and said that the midwives scan you for thirty secs if you have gone private. Thanks girls for the reassurance about being freezing. Tonight i made the mistake of indulging a random desire for penguin biscuits rather than nutrition! Feel yuk now! Typed this on my phone so can t press return!

haloflo · 11/05/2010 21:26

Thanks lucky I've paid more in ov sticks, CB sticks & pregnancy tests etc so it's not much in the scheme of things. My current panic is that my breasts don't hurt as much today. I noticed when showering I could touch them. Please let this not be a sign of something bad.

luckyseven · 11/05/2010 21:37

i had no real symptoms til about week six, try to relax but it is hard after all the ttc symptom spotting it is hard to let it go after a bfp! Enjoy pain free boobs and be careful what you wish for!
