How about "The Bumper Edition of the First Time Frolicker Graduates"?

Thanks for the book suggestions thus far. You are stars! I've got my eye on the Pregnancy Bible and had actually just acquired the Rough Guide from my sister-in-law who had it in her charity-shop bookbox which DH and I raided the DAY before my BFP. It's as if it were meant to be...

If I can hold out, I'll try to go to the bookshop for a bit of flickage, although I have been thoroughly abusing Amazon's Search Inside function by searching for common words like "have" and therefore being able to read quite a few pages... Blush

haloflo, I'm dreading the shopping-for-maternity-wear but am going to need to fairly soon as am so bloaty. And I only just bought a new pair of normal trousers for work which I might manage to wear for about a month if I'm lucky. Grrrrr...! Does anyone have those bands that you can put around the top of your trousers and hide the fact that your button is undone?

stegasaurus · 04/09/2010 17:44

Hi,
For those who are asking, I am a nurse. That means I usually can't eat at work except when I am on my break. Mints might be ok as I can put them in my pocket and eat them while no one is looking. Until July I worked on a different ward where fairly often there wasn't time for a break and I didn't sit down or eat until about 6am. This ward doesn't seem as busy but might be a lot worse in winter.
I am also dreading having to buy maternity clothes, because I am only 5ft tall and don't think they make maternity trousers short enough for me. My sewing skills end after sewing on a button so I can't turn up trousers myself.

crazybutterflylady · 05/09/2010 08:38

Morning ladies
Steggie, can't you tell them at work so they can make sure you have a few minutes to look after yourself when you need to? You have earned it being a nurse, it's about time you look after yourself hun x

Hermya yes please, start a new thread :) Looks like we are going to need it as we have had 2 more BFPs on the other thread! x

crazybutterflylady · 05/09/2010 08:40

Oh and I meant to say, I have bought the mumsnet book, and what to expect. I think they work well together as what to expect is quite 'scientific' whereas the mumsnet guide is quite lighthearted and anecdotal. I like them both.

Hello everybody!! I hope you're all well!!

Steg My friend said she took a load of trousers to a seamtress who put elastic where the pockets were on some of her old trousers and used them as maternity trousers. She said it cost her about a tenner and saved her a little bit. Otherwise, get a bump band and a maternity button extender. They've been a life saver with me. Also ebay is brilliant for maternity clothes. Here do bump bands and new look are very cheap for them as well.

Halo I'm a couple of towns up from you into C. I know what you mean about the shocking lack of maternity clothes at the moment, when I went looking I discovered that in fact in the retailers minds pregnant women don't exist where I live. I did come up with the idea of a pregtent as canvas seems to be item of choice round here.

I've just come back from a friends wedding, she looked so so lovely. It reminded me of my own wedding, it was all very lovely and lovey dovey. I had a good old grove on the dance floor and even had a gentle very gentle bounce on the bouncy castle with all the kids. It was just lovely. Hope you're all well.

Also here is the new thread!! Thank you Kurly for the name suggestion.
