Me! [grabs a handful of custard creams]

Its so lovely seeing our first frolicker baby at the top of the list. I wonder how many more we will have by the time this thread fills up - eek!!

Hermya321 · 01/05/2010 21:51

I know scary isn't it!!!

It is just over five months until my due date. Scary mary!!!

OP posts:
bunnygirl80 · 02/05/2010 01:35

I am posting this on both threads so feel free to only read it once!

chance Is it a while since you've been back to Oz? All the men here are criers now - if you walk down the street they are all sobbing like girls over cute puppies Actually I am convinced they get the contestants for those shows from some sort of asylum! I did see a story on the news the other day about a guy getting bitten by a snake but not bothering to go to hospital until he'd finishing whatever sport it was he was watching on the TV

Glad your MIL is doing well, and I hope her surgery has been successful this time.

spirael I love the nursery pics. It makes me a bit sad that as we're in a rented place we can't decorate much. Not that I have the artistic ability to paint murals on the wall - it would just end up scaring the poor baby!

worrisome It must be nice to hear Mr Teeny's heartbeat. Are you looking forwards to your trip to NZ? Maternity tops all seem to be cut to fit over huge bumps - I ended up buying ordinary tops in a size bigger than normal. I went for looser fitting long line tops and I actually think they'll last me for ages.

I didn't buy any baby things when I went shopping - I ventured into the baby section and felt all tearful looking at the tiny clothes so I ran away before I became a complete wreck

Hermya I hate it when that happens on ebay, although I never bid until right at the end so I'm probably guilty of doing the last minute outbidding!! I'm watching a couple of Bugaboos on there at the moment - one is going for a really good price, so if it still looks like a bargain in a couple of days I might go for it.

Homebound sadly wind is a common pg symptom. It only seems to affect me in the evenings though so no worries at work. I just blame it on the baby - I told DH the wind passes down the umbilical cord from the baby to me and has to exit via me or the baby might explode

Pixie It must be rubbish having to work when everyone is off enjoying bank holidays. It's not a holiday here so I'll be in work on Monday too

I had my second netball game of the season yesterday, and we lost big time. I'm not sure how many more games I'll manage as I can feel my exercise tolerance starting to drop - I was getting out of breath quite easily. Although I'm not sure how much of that was related to pg and how much was related to the opposition all being about 10 years younger than me

Spirael · 02/05/2010 09:35

[Rolls in the birthing ball and settles self comfortably on it.] Ok, I'm here! And I'm not leaving until Gadget is born!

WorrisomeHeart · 02/05/2010 09:48

[WH settles herself down and attacks the choc chip Marylands]

Ooh a lovely shiny new thread, nice work Hermya bunny I am looking forward to the trip but not the travel - it will be great to see everyone, and I'm really pleased that I can be there for my friends wedding, just really not liking the idea of the 26 hour flight!! I'm very impressed you're still playing netball - I have about enough energy to lie on the couch - the trip around the shopping centre yesterday was knackering!!

Spireal those stickers are sooo cute, what a fab idea! I bet you can't wait for Gadget to come so you can use the room.

homebound With regards to the gas thingy - I think the worst I've found has been the constant hiccup/belchy type thing.. so pleasant and ladylike!! You gotta love pregnancy, it's so dignified!! But it's all good - it's supposed to be becuase your digestive system is slowing down so the LO can get all the nutritional goodies.

Hope you all have a fab weekend.

WorrisomeHeart · 02/05/2010 09:50

Looking at the list again, I've just realised how many of us are going to be popping in Sep and Oct - it's going to be a really busy few months! How exciting!

PJen · 02/05/2010 12:16

What's a frolicker graduate?

Hermya321 · 02/05/2010 18:09

Hello PJen there's a thread on the conception boards that was those who were trying for their first child (First time frolickers), this is the antenatel version of that one for those that got their BFP on there. But if you're on your first kid, feel free to join in. We're all due at different times, so theres a real mix of people here.

OP posts:
mumnerves · 02/05/2010 18:45

Hermya thanks for the links. The belly belt looks like a good idea but I'm trying to keep others IRL from finding out I'm preg. The extender thing looks better but most of my trousers don't have the big button hole either so I may just go out and buy some cheap trousers for work. I guess I won't slim down that quickly after so they'll prob come in handy

Bunny I am at Mr Bunny! Silly man, doesn't he know by now that whatever you wear you will never look fat in!.
IKWYM about the maternity clothes pre-scan, this is why I haven't bought any yet either but am trying to wear what I've got for as long as poss. I may try a hair bobble myself if it works out to look discrete enough. It must be nice to finally be able to shop for maternity clothes, probably makes it all more real

homebound Congratulations and welcome I know what you mean about the wind. I just say it's the baby! On the other hand, if DH trumps, it makes me nauseous and today after he had a heavy drinking session (sorry if TMI) he actually made me throw up, so poor man, it's not very fair.

pixiestix I know exactly what you mean about the hopes on the other side, it's so scary isn't it? Sorry you're still getting the sickness

spirael I love the nursery. Can't believe they are stick ons, you put them on well though, I think mine would've been wonky! It was nice to see your scans too, sorry if I was being nosy.

worrisome am excited for you about your trip! Who did you decide to fly with?

PJen like hermya said, do feel free to join us if you're on no.1

It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one worrying about the future when baby finally pops out. I guess we'll be worrying about them for the rest of our lives as well
Went for a wedding last night. Got DH to buy me lemonades and I think most people thought I had vodka in them, so no one noticed. They only time anyone bought me a drink I said I'd better slow down and had J20 so phew I didn't have to lie to anyone!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Trying4Baby1 · 04/05/2010 07:54

Hermya I'm afraid that I'm sometimes quite bad for doing this on ebay although I definately didn't bid on a skirt recently, promise!

mumnerves well done on the drink deception. I used to drive to lots of things and then say I had the car so couldn't drink.

Well I've been getting contractions since 3am on Monday but they're not really getting any closer together. They actually feel a bit more managable now although maybe I'm just getting used to them. Phoned the hospital for advice and was told that until they're closer together (about 5 mins) and have been regular for 3-4 hours it's not considered established labour so I've just got to wait it out now and hope baby turns up soon! Got a checkup today anyway so will hopefully find out more. Just hoping they are proper contractions and not BH!

pixiestix · 04/05/2010 08:16

Oh Trying, poor you! You are well over your EDD now. Just remember, she has to come out at some point!! Hopefully sooner rather than later!
How close together are the contractions you are having? I am so excited for you! Good luck!

fulhamgirl · 04/05/2010 09:38

morning guys!!

So nice to read through your thread feels like ive been gone for ages.

Ive just grabbed a coffee whilst Lily is sleeping finally have 5 mins to myself. Teust me sleep as much as u all can now because its so hard during the night when they wake up and scream lol.

My story is a bit of a nightmare to be honest with u so im not going into to much detail as u are all expecting soon.

My water broke on the Monday (bank holiday). I think caused by stress at work. Anyway called the labour ward got taken in and Lily was born on the Friday.

They tried to stop my labour as I was so early. It worked for a day but the contractions started up again. They kept telling me I would dilate at any time but I wasnt the reason being is they told me her head was down and engaged ready to come out. Finally 4 days later they gave me a scan and she was breech (fuming) my OH went absoulty mad. Then to further top it off I caught MRSA so I got rushed down to have an emergency c-section. So lucky really cause she would of suffered from lack of oxygen. We were really uptight and I was so scared first being told I had MRSA and then in 10 mins I was going down for a c-section. I was in so much pain as well through the contractions.

And who has heard of your waters being able to replenish themselves? Ive never heard that a midwife told me that ive googled it and cant find it anywhere they were usless at the hospital. Anyway at 8.18 pm Lily was born and taken down to SCBU where she was cared for, for 2 weeks as she was prem.
I was kept away from her for 3 days because of the MRSA but I was only carrying it on my skin I was no danger to others we later found out and should never of been kept away from my little girl which made me so and .

But now I have a gorgeous little girl who weighs 5lb now and absoulty gorgeous and is home with her mummy and daddy. Apart from the lack of sleep im absoulty beaming.
I cant beleive she is a month old on Friday where does the time go?

trying- OMG didnt relise u had gone over. I wish u so much luck babes cant wait to hear youve had the baby. I cant really describe that feeling of holding them for the first time other than u get this feeling of such love and u cry lol because they are so beautiful and u cant believe they were in your tummy lol.

How is everyone else? God september is not that far away at all how exciting is that month!

xxxxxxxxxx

pixiestix · 04/05/2010 11:08

Fulham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its so good to hear from you! OMG, that sounds so stressful. I can't believe that they took four days to diagnose Lily as breech, and then wouldn't let you see her for two days after she was born You must have been going mad
How fantastic that she has put on a pound though - she must be very contented with her lovely Mummy! Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding her?
Has the MRSA gone now then? I don't know anything about it - is it making you feel ill?
I'm so happy that you and Lily are both at home and ok!

WhiteRoses · 04/05/2010 12:17

Was just checking in briefly there before doing a proper catch up later but couldn't ignore posts like those from Trying and Fulham!

Trying, brilliant news about the contractions starting, even if they are slow. Good luck this afternoon! You must be so fed up now, but as Pixie says, she's got to come out sooner or later! Sooo jealous of you, soon to have your LO in your arms...

And Fulham - wonderful to hear from you. What a terrible time you had. Don't know how the others feel, but don't worry about going into details on my account. I like to be prepared!

I think the main thing is that, no matter what, you still think it was all worth it! Are you still having loads of visitors all the time, or have things calmed down?! I bet, sleep or no sleep, you couldn't imagine life without Lily now!

chancewouldbeafinething · 04/05/2010 13:15

trying Good Luck!!! hope that LO decides to come out soon. How painful are the contractions?...do we really want to know? Hope the check up goes well today

Fulham So glad to hear from you We knew that something must have been up for you to be away for so long, just glad to know that you are both doing well now. Which hospital were you in? Did they not get a consultant to see you when you arrived? So sorry that it did not go as expected, but i am sure you are happy to have little Lily home with you now. I hope you are recovering well from the c-section &MRSA. How on earth did they explain how you got MRSA? BTW i am like roses dont hold back on my account

I had my triple blood test today, it took so long for them to be able to get any blood from me...and then when they did eventually get it i fainted. Typical! just when i thought i was over the low blood pressure. anyway at home now with the feet up.

fulhamgirl · 04/05/2010 13:32

Oh my life wouldnt be complete without lily now her daddy hasent taken his paternity yet though as she came so early we wernt prepared he cant wait to spend some time with her where he is a scaffolder he has a very physical job and is so tired when he comes home he gives her, her 7 feed and goes to bed ! Your life does defo change with your partner when u have a baby thats y u have to be so strong as a partnership I am really lucky but we do miss each others company u dont relise how much time the baby takes up when they are really small. Still we would both never change it for the world she is our little pride and joy. My OH just wants to show her off and take her out all the time he aint at work lol but as u will find out it takes about an hour to pack everything and get ready.

I had to bottle feed I really didnt want to as I was expressing loads of milk I was really blessed there but because of the MRSA I had to go on strong anti bitotics so I couldnt give her my breast milk and then where she was putting on so much weight I didnt want to change her off of the milk she was on.
No I wasnt ill at all. Some people are carriers of the disease and dont even know it. I went into hospital and caught it in their it wasnt dangerous to me as I was not infected I was just carrying it BUT Lily could of contracted it through the placenta so she needed to come out quick. Also MRSA is a bacteria that likes to find open wounds so having the c section I had to keep it covered and anti bacterial scrub had to be used all the time thats where I had to be careful because if it had found its way into my open wound I would have got very ill.
As I said most people are carriers and dont even know they are carrying it.
I got Lily swabbed today just incase.
Im all clear now I had my last lot of swabs today as well but my last 2 have come back all clear.

K this has been the hardest the visitors. We stayed at ML for the weekend. And my SIL decided to take lily out of her pram whilst she was still asleep and not even ask me. I went mad and make her cry but no1 has the right to do that no1. Its been the hardest we got told not to many visitors where she is so prem and not to be taken out. Anyway MIL had her on saturday whilst me and OH went to do some shopping. I come back to find a room full of children and then I got told she had been for a walk down to the vets and people where looking at her and my MIL was saying how proud she was. I had to go get a glass of wine to calm myself down. Cause im not a strong minded person they think they could walk all over me but they cant when u have the baby something kicks in your just so protective its unreal.
I was so upset though going against my wishes. They are so demanding as well I just turn my phone off all the time now how bad is that.

U will get strong at first everybody wants to see them but u lose your bond so just tell people she/he is sleeping dont disturbe them and if they do then lay go into one they wont do it again.

xxxxxx

fulhamgirl · 04/05/2010 13:40

I was at Farnborough hospital in Kent. They were briliant in SCBU but they way I was treated was so bad. I had a dirty pad left on my dinner table for 2 days, My urine got left in the toilet for days. I could tell u loads but seriously this is a happy chat page and at the end of it I have the most beautiful little girl ever !

They said there was no way I had caught it in the hospital. After the tests were done they found it on the spetrulum (sorry about the spelling ) that they used to try and see if I was dialated. My OH had to tell the nurses after that to wash their hands can u believe it checking me under there with no gloves and they never washed their hands.

My consultant went mad on the friday. He thought I had been scaned and that it had been confirmed the baby was head down and he was waiting for the labour to start. When we told him everything after Lily was born he said some heads were going to go flying. Its not that if Lily was born breech she could of been born with a disability.

xxxxxxx

fulhamgirl · 04/05/2010 13:43

It did get confirmed as well the hospital did give it to me. We are going to sue the hospital so u might even read about it somewhere!! We have gone to the papers and we are taking the hosital to court as I suffered a little from depression being treated like that and also being kept away from Lily when I didnt have to.

xxxxxxxxxx

Hi Pjen welcome and congrats on your BFP!

fudgecat · 04/05/2010 17:22

hermya well done one setting up the new thread

bunnygirl sorry you lost at netball, just think it won?t be long until it looks like you have hidden the ball down your top

worrisome are you still thinking about naming the baby after the airline?

trying BOO!!! Just thought a sudden shock may speed things up for you How did the appointment go today?

Great to hear from you fulham im sorry to hear that the birth did not go the way you planned but so happy that you have Lily home now ? have you thought about posting a picture of her on your profile? Why did your MIL take Lily to the vets?!?!

chance hope you are feeling better now ? having blood taken isn?t much fun at the best of times

Welcome to the gang PJen How long had you been TTC for?

Not much change in news from me ? Still spotting it has been 16 days now and im getting fed up to be honest. The consultant referral hasn?t come yet so I called the doctors surgery this afternoon who said they sent the letter out today!!

pixiestix · 04/05/2010 17:31

Welcome PJen! - this is a great time to join, as Trying is going to pop at any second so its all very exciting around here! Congrats on your BFP. How are you doing symptom-wise at the mo?

Sorry Fudge but I am ROFL at "Why did your MIL take Lily to the vets?"
Bloody doctors tho Maybe the fact that they are being so slack means that they are not really worried? [hopeful]

Chance - poor you. I hear that massive amounts of chocolate are the best way to get over faintness and having blood taken.. and well, everything else actually Send DH out for some comfort food immediately!

Fulham - I too would love to see a picture of Lily! If you are worried about privacy you could just put it on your profile for one day and then take it off again? Pretty please!

I am loving it on here at the moment. Just had the crappest day ever at work, with loads of horrible, grumpy people and I log in to MN and start smiling immediately! You frolickers are my therapy!

Hermya321 · 04/05/2010 18:43

Evening all!!

I'm so glad to be at home, work was well......well it was what it was and that is that. But no more of that, how is everybody else today?

Pixie Gosh I can sympathise, at least you only have to work with them and not live for them. I feel sorry for your grumpy peoples partners.

Fulham Hello there!!! Gosh what a story, I'm sorry that you've had a bit of a time of it. I'm glad you're at home with little Lily, do you get to have a post birth chat type thing with your midwife at some point. I've heard that this can sometimes help if you haven't had the best of times with your little one.

Chance Have lots of chocolate, I'm having my triple on Thursday as well.

Trying It's ok, I found the skirt I wanted in the end and after some frantic bidding I won it. I was well chuffed. Do they do rasberry leaf tea baths, maybe if you bath in the stuff that might help things along. Mind you, it would take an awful lot of tea bags to do that wouldn't it. I bet you're getting a wee bit fed up now aren't you. Sorry about that, I'm sending 'baby come now' vibes your way.

PJen Congratulations on your BFP!! You're having a December baby, how exciting. How are things going so far?

Bunny Sorry you lost at Netball, did you get the bugaboo in the end?

Right I'm off to have some curry.

OP posts:
homebound · 04/05/2010 18:48

I thought I lost you all, but here you are!!

[sprays air freshener, opens window and gets comfy]

LMFAO at the baby exploding explanation for your hubby bunny..lol, im gonna have to tell my DH that because he told me i smelled like dung the other morning...which was really nice..lol.

Since my dr's appt isnt till thursday im still obsessed with testing and seeing that line come up that ive tested so many times for!! The best part...is it gets darker with each test! Yippee!! So will I tell the GP ive taken a grand total of six tests (with another one still to take at my whim)...or will I lie and say i took a more reasonable 3??

Im with you spirael, I like pink, but wouldnt want to be bombarded with nothing but!!! Sorry i had to ask about 'Gadget' being the name as i was a bit concerned..lol! First thing that came to mind was inspector gadget, but hey if you cant decide on the ones you have...gadget could be a back up..lol

worrisome and bunny I was in ASDA today and the cut of all the shirts these days will make fitting to a baby bump quite easy (and cheap) because everything is cut so long and stretchy and the sizes go pretty high as well. Also peacocks has a really nice maternity line for not many pennies, so during this time when you are unbearably uncomfortable, treat yourself to something that actually fits for the summer months when its so hot!

Congrats to Fulham and PJen! Sorry your experience wasnt the best Fulham, but proud of you for doing something about it!! I work in a hospital and the thought of someone not washing their hands before touching a patient, or cleaning up the room, or even the cleaning staff not flushing the toilet...freaks me right out! The worst part being that you were kept from your little one for no reason. Get them sorted out Fulham!! We will support ya!!

worrisome sorry if im a bit out of the loop, but are you flying home while preggers or after??? If you are while you are preggers how many weeks will you be, because i have a 7 hour flight in June and am a bit nervous about it even though ive done this flight a million times, just never pregnant..thought we could hold hands..lol.

Happy incubating!

Trying4Baby1 · 04/05/2010 19:43

Hiya all, still getting contractions but not getting any more regular. Hate to tell you chance but yes they have been bloody painful but it's not the same for everyone. Midwife even said today that some people don't feel anything before they're 4cms dilated and I'm supposably only 2cm just now. Baby's had some turning to do as well so I think that's probably why it's been painful. No pain in my back though it's all under my bump like really severe period pain but I used to get bothered with period pain before I went on the pill so don't know if there's a link there. It actually wasn't too bad earlier today but had a sweep when I went for my checkup and they've been a lot worse since, but if it's going to help the arrival of the wee one it's all worthwhile.

I keep scaring the dog too! Every time I have a contraction and start moaning she runs and hides and then when it stops she comes back to cuddle up. Poor thing doesn't know what the hell is happening!

Fulham I'm so shocked by your treatment in the hospital! Glad that both you and Lily are okay now though! I'm with roses and chance and don't feel you have to hold back on anything! Hope you get everything sorted with the hospital, can't believe the catalogue of fuck ups! Well at least you have your wee girl now, hopefully I won't have too much longer to wait.
