hermya im 15+1 just a few days behind you

welcome sazzie and congratulations on your pregnancy

WhiteRoses · 05/05/2010 18:38

Hermya - in fairness, I can't really blame work. They can't grant me days off without knowing which shifts I'll be doing. Only thing, I'll have June, July and August to use up a whole year's worth of leave (minus the two days that I've already taken), so if other people have already booked off my shifts (which isn't unreasonable, as the summer months are bound to be popular), then I'm guessing they'll have to bend the rules for me... Cause they won't be able to tell me that I can't take the holidays that I've earned and am entitled to, just because I'm having a baby in September, will they? I don't know what will happen.

Fudge - that's a pity about the movement. The reason I was asking was because I thought that'd be really reassuring for you. Oh well. You are past the real danger stage, and all's been well so far, you've seen your baby wiggling about, happy and healthy at all your scans, and you've heard his/her little heartbeat as recently as today. You also know that you're doing the right thing by resting, and are being monitored by all the professionals... I think I told you about how many women were in hospital with me because they were bleeding heavily, and their babies were fine. I was really surprised - many more were in for bleeding than for morning sickness, and you know how common morning sickness is!

Hi Sazzie. Nice to "meet" you.

Pixie - wow! Excellent news about Halo - will pop over to Conception thread now to congratulate her! Fingers crossed that Kkas and Aries will then be hot on her heels!

I keep wondering about Yorkshire... Still no sign of her? Hope she's okay.

Just been over to the Conception thread to congratulate Halo, like I said I was going to, and it's looking like Hairy may be about to join us too! She was told today by her doctor's receptionist that "pregnancy is progressing", but has to wait now until 10am tomorrow to speak to the doctor him/herself and find out what that actually means! Fingers and toes crossed!

homebound · 05/05/2010 19:22

So happy for you Halo and your BFP!

I was wondering about Yorkshire as well actually, maybe she is just taking a breather, i often took them before too.

COME ON HAIRY !!

worrisome I will be 10 weeks when we fly and 12+3 when we come back (approx as I havent had dating scan). Im nervous cause they say your second trimester is the best time to fly and im still so early. Im flying to Canada which is home to see my family (holiday that was booked before we found out about our LO)But i am also looking forward to being able to tell the family in person (so long as all goes well) I will speak to the doctor when i see him tomorrow and make sure all is ok.

Do you think they will give me a viability scan before I go or is there specific criteria for that? OH EVERYONE CROSS YOU FINGERS THAT THEY GIVE ME ONE BEFORE I GO! Not sure Ill believe this till I see it!!

Hermya321 · 05/05/2010 19:24

White Ooooo if they start to be funny, let me at emmm, I need a good argument .

Great news about Haloflo and Hairytriangle!!

I had a right case of preghead today, I went to Asda to get stuff to cook a mousakka. I only went and forgot the mince meat. (Face palm) I'm such a muppet!!

OP posts:
WorrisomeHeart · 05/05/2010 19:27

OOh trying hope it's all going well and you're relaxing in bed with a cuddly wee baby! [WH goes into raptures thinking about the smell of babies heads]

roses the bum thing comes in fits and spurts and I'm fairly certain it's linked to sitting for too long - I tend to get engrossed (or stressed! ) at work and not think about moving every so often as I should.

bunny yeah the Melbourne delay is not great, but the tickets were so cheap we couldn't really turn them down! The most annoying thing is that we will have only been on a plane for 3 (or so) hours before getting off again - with the longest stretches in front of us!

pixie (or proxy!) can you pad your ML out with annual leave like others have suggested? FWIW I don't think 6 weeks is too long! I'm starting it at 4 weeks prior and can't wait! I may end up having one week of leave left to use then too, but tbh resting will be the most important thing then, not work! (Oh and cake and rubbish tv and folding and refolding tiny vests of course )

fudge great that the LO's heartbeat was ok - and it sounds like your care is being ramped up now which is great. Hopefully you'll get a proper conclusion to this soon. BTW my tiny bump has only just started showing so I reckon yours will be along soon!

Welcome sazzie and congrats to halo!

Is anyone else suffering with hayfever? I thought I might have got away with not having it this year but it's hit me with a vengeance over the last few days - anyone know any good remedies?

WorrisomeHeart · 05/05/2010 19:31

Xposts homebound I'm sure it will be fine - have you spoken to your doc about it? Where in Canada are you going? We went to Vancouver on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. DH keeps talking about when Mr Teeny will be big enough to take back there. Such a beautiful country and the people were so nice! (Case in point - the customs border guard started giving us advice on where to go and what to see, instead of just grunting at us like the ones in the UK do!) Just make sure you do all the normal things like drink water and move around a lot - and rest too.

hermya at your meat-less moussaka - can you pretend you were going to make a vege one all along? Or will it be scrambled eggs on toast for dinner instead?

Hermya321 · 05/05/2010 19:33

Worrisome It was Pizza in the end, mousakka will be tomorrow nights tea. My DH laughed at me (nicely).

OP posts:
luckyseven · 05/05/2010 20:23

homebound i can't remember where in the world / uk you are but i am in Northern Ireland and my scan appointment came through for 10 weeks exactly. I can't make it as we rearranged a trip to italy after the volcano thinking the scan would be at 12 weeks and we would be back on time. I asked if they would bring it forward but they said it had to be 10 weeks based on doctors dates for you. An option would be to go private for a scan but i think it is a couple of hundred £ ....

worrisome my hay fever has not kicked in yet (probably jinxing myself) and so i am holding on to the fact the pharmacist thinking you sometimes don't get it when pg. In the past the following has helped alleviate it for me as i get it bad - wear sunglasses as much as possible outside, vaseline up your nose, a spoonful of locally produced honey in the morning (app you ingest the pollen you are allergic to), keep all the windows closed in the house, have a shower and change clothes when you get in from outside. if i think of anymore will let you know!

great news about haloflo too we used to be cycle buddies and now we can be baby buddies too, there will be hardly anyone here after September (so far!)

welcome to sazzie too!

homebound · 05/05/2010 20:52

Thanks for the info lucky thats really helpful. 10 weeks is the exact date we leave..lol so hopefully we will get it for the day before...i might be able to nudge the date since I work for the hospital, but they frown on that...and in fairness if they let everyone do that...everyone would and it would be chaos! Here is hoping!

I forgot to say Welcome to sazzie earlier! WELCOME!

I broke! I told my office mate (totally trustworthy girl), well i was sitting there and had a wee dizzy spell and about two minutes later my stomach rolled and i had to run to the bathroom because my other office mate was eating a banana (im allergic and the smell to me is putrid on a non-prego day) and when i came back she asked if i was ok and i said yes and then couldn't stop smiling...she looked at me like i was nuts so i wrote it on a post it and passed it to her (like i was in school or something!)she was so excited!! So cute! I know its bad luck and all but i was going to explode!! For this reason...ive decided i dont believe in bad luck...lets hope my new belief doesnt backfire!

worrisome Im from Ontario, we will be there for our anniversary as well which is nice! I better be careful....someone on here will put two and two together and end up being someone I know and tell everyone!! Im just glad that the altitude wont hurt baby. Are you worried about clots cause i read that they are more likely. Was considering those God awful stockings for old people, gosh...the hubby will struggle to keep his hands off me

Until tomorrow (yes I know its only 10 to 9 but im shattered...but i dont mind...its for a good cause

haloflo · 05/05/2010 21:01

Evening all! This is first post here (been far to scared before) but after getting my BFP today I guess I really am a graduate! I've been TTC since January and was convinced it wouldn't happen to me quickly.

This cycle i've been feeling off for a few days now and as I usually have short cycles was going to test at CD28 but as I haven't felt any better & AF hasn't shown DP & I decided I should test today. I did it straight after work & the line took a while to appear but is clearly there.

Symptom wise. I've been tired, feeling sick and sore on my lower back. Feels different to AF cramps but still every twinge is scary. I can't think about food without feeling sick, I hope it doesn't get worse as so far I've not actually been sick. It does seem early for this according to google but now I have my BFP I know its not my imagination.

Thank you so much for adding me to the list, you are all very welcoming! According to fertility friend my EDD would be 11/01/11. Is that what others are using who are early days?

I think i'm going to take it very very easy over the next few days, test again Monday morning & then make an appointment next week. I feel a little out of my depth so does this seem right?

I've told my mum & she was very shocked. (I didn't tell her I was TTC) She was amazed you could find out so early. I hope shes happy for me as she just sounded so shocked. Noone else has yet been told. Sister's next on the list as we are very close, problem is she has a big mouth so i'm not sure when to say something. If something were to go wrong then I would want to talk to her so I do want to tell her.

Homebound I see you are going tomorrow to the docs. Would you let me know what happens & what they talk to you about? I think its ok to tell whoever you like. I confessed to a collegue today that I felt sick & she said I should test. I will be updating her with the outcome. She's really trustworthy and again I'd need someone to talk to at work.

lucky Am I reading right that they won't change your scan date? What are you doing about your holiday? In my area there are some women I know who went at 10 weeks, others at 12. First baby, second baby theres no pattern. I am intrigued to know what they will decide for me.

trying very excited for your arrival!

I'll read more at some point and get to know you all but for now its back to the sofa & an early night.

chancewouldbeafinething · 05/05/2010 22:48

worrisome I am planning to fly to syd when 30 weeks, I got the go ahead to so have to book now...do you do yoga? my ante natal yoga teacher has some good ideas about what you can do in your seat and what to do when you change planes/get off the plane. I am stopping in singapore for 2 days to break the journey up, but you my friend are going to need those exercises 26 hours!! I am sure the wedding will be worth it though
You know what i cant remember what my latest reading was but it was under 90 over 75, and i think that was a good day. I will double check with my doctor...Also low blood pressure is more of a problem early on, and high later on. If you are ok now then you should be ok.

roses Sorry to hear you are still sick - hope your bum and tummy settle soon Have you thought about adding your holidays to the end of your leave? might be a nice pay jolt to come at the end?

bunny dont feel guilty about work, you have to take care of yourself! Surely they cant get rid of you before you want to take leave when does your contract run out?

Pixie take the time with DH! you will never have this time again, and you will be stronger as a couple for it.

fudge good to hear they are making some progress and keeping a watch on you. LO must be happy in there, I am sure once they figure it out it will all go smoothly. I have an anterior placenta too, and have only felt a few flutters mostly when i am laying in bed. And even that started only just last week (16 weeks) so dont worry about that for a while yet

Ok i am not quite done catching up yet but so tired i have to hit the hay....cant wait to hear from trying sending good pushing vibes your way xx

bunnygirl80 · 06/05/2010 00:04

halo congratulations and welcome to the thread. I have been lurking on the TTC thread and noticed you'd been saying your temp was up so I had been wondering when we'd see you here I used the edd ff gave me as it takes your actual ov day into account rather than just basing it on a 28 day cycle.

If I were you I wouldn't tell anyone who might have a big mouth until you are ready for the whole world to know - I told my MIL quite early on, and told her NOT to tell a soul until after my first scan. She decided that meant don't tell anyone except half of Surrey so DH and I didn't get the chance to tell his side of the family ourselves If I could turn back the clock I would be telling the people with the biggest mouths last

sazzie welcome to the thread

homebound I wouldn't worry about flying in the first trimester. I fly to work (although it's only a short hop not long haul) and my doctor said it's fine. I think the books just say leave it until the second trimester as if you have nausea etc during the first trimester flying is not fun.

chance my contract officially ends at the end of July, so they could just refuse to renew it. I think they should be ok with me continuing to work until I want to take ML, but they are a bit unpredictable at times

lucky I'll still be here after September

Hermya lol at listening to proper music before you're stuck with Peppa Pig. My friend just took her DD to the Peppa Pig live show, and I've been winding DH up by saying that's the closest we'll come to a live gig for the next few years

I've been feeling all hormonal for the last couple of days. The crying at the drop of hat had seemed to have worn off, but it's back with a vengeance now! It's Mother's Day here on Sunday, and so every other advert involves mummies cuddling their babies and having lovely family moments. I can't watch them without feeling all tearful

Ozziegirly · 06/05/2010 05:14

Welcome halo sazzie and let's hope that trying had a new family member by now!

Interesting to hear about all your maternity plans. My plan is to go at 37 weeks - I have an office job and drive with DH into work so it's not physically stressful at all. I'll then try to tag 2 weeks annual leave onto that as I don't get any pay at all while I'm off - zip! No benefits, nothing!

fulham I'm sorry to hear that you had such a stressful time of it, but I'm pleased that things are going so well with Lily. I do love that name.

Nothing much from me - loads of movements now, mainly after I eat and I feel like I am starting to get a properly big bump now at 24 weeks although people at work have said it isn't that noticeable. I feel huge though!

sazziej · 06/05/2010 08:33

Blimey wriggler has been doing gymnastics since the early hours of the morning - or at least thats what it feels like!
I've been up since 5am - done the ironing, 2nd load of washing is in the machine, emptied the dishwasher and cleaned the fridge.. i'll be ready for a nap soon

homebound · 06/05/2010 20:01

Hello all!

Drs today was fine...a formality more than anything to get me set up with a midwife. He asked me if I had any concerns and expressed my concerns about flying. He said that high altitude places (like Peru) is the only thing to worry about as the actual place is at high altitude without pressurisation. Planes are fine cause they are pressurised.

Haloflo The GPs dont do much any more. He said he would want to see me again when Im back from Canada (around week 12-13) and that was just to make sure everything was fine while I was away and no problems. Otherwise everything gets handed over to the midwife. I am to call in the morning and try to set up a scan before I go and he said he would write a letter and request it so im very very very happy about that!! I think hubby is happy about the scan too. He didnt really ask me anything other than the first day of my last period and that was it. Didnt even work out EDD (not that i needed him to) He was totally willing to answer any questions I had which was really nice. Hopefully you are already on folic acid and if you have been trying surely you are - that was the only other thing we really talked about. EXCEPT, NHS scotland gives out a proper book (not sure about the rest of the UK)its a package of stuff to read and forms to fill out for the mid-wife. The book is really great..a lot to take in (had my fill for tonight), but great book!

Does all of the UK get a book? Ready Steady Baby is the one I got. I expected photocopied packets, not a book!

Bit worried about the hubby. I think he is reluctant to believe its happening, but did seem happy we would have a scan before we went to Canada so maybe he just wants to see it to believe it. Ill just let him be because thats the type he is. I did offer to get him a book so he knows what's going on..and he jokingly said that he already knew everything because he has two brothers....ugh..he is going to be a challenge (so no different than any other day)lol. Of course i bit on the joke bait and said that i was SURE his mother didn't share with him all the ins and outs of pregnancy and if I dont know everything....then he sure as shit doesn't!!!

Freaked myself out really well last night . Had myself really worked deep into the corner of my sofa last night and really had to push myself out and then had a sharp pain in my belly. I got really upset cause i though 'great, that's it..all over' but everything seems ok and i took another test this am and it was darker that any tests id taken. I really dont want to be one of these paranoid women but that scared me!!! OH...and that was my final test...not taking anymore..lol

SIL walked into drs office when i was in waiting room...talk about catching me off guard....felt so bad i had to lie to her face ....but its for a good cause!!

Im trying to convince DH that we should tell the family sooner rather than later because im so excited, but he is convinced its bad luck...ugh, so i think it will be the night before we leave to go to Canada that way they will only know 24 hours longer than my parents.

Im really sorry this is so long...guess i had lots to say!

ttfn!

Hermya321 · 06/05/2010 20:33

I had my Quad test today at the midwifes and I got to hear the heartbeat. It was so so COOL!!! It's under 150 beats per minute, on gurgle.com it said that can indicate a boy. I'm getting more ticks in the boxes to confirm my boy vibes . The Jellybean has also been wriggling away for the past hour, it's so cool. One thing though I had to go back to the Docs as the midwife took my bloods in the wrong tube so I now have two bruises.

I also found out about the consultant who does the Amnios at my hospital as well (just in case, forearmed is forewarned) and I found out that the one who does them does it every week and has a very low miscarriage rate. My midwife says that the hospital were far below the national average.

I'm not saying I'll need one, but just in case I wanted to know what the options were.

Homebound Glad to hear the Docs appointment went well. I got no such book, I got a beffuddled look off of the Doc and a form for my free perscriptions whilst all the time the Doctor muttered 'it's very early, very early'. I would say regarding your tummy, I've been doing pilaties and all sorts since early pregnancy and LO is still bounding around in there like some insane lunatic. I'm sure your LO is all safe, sound and snuggly in there.

Bunny I cried when a dog was put down in Greys anatomy the other day. Three people died in the programme and I cried at the Dog.

fulhamgirl so sorry about your bad experience At least lily was worth it, and you sound so in love with her, your description of how you felt when you hold her was just so touching! Sorry to hear about your inlaws too, it's my biggest fear too, as my MIL can be pretty tactless at times.

haloflo CONGRATULATIONS!!! Am so pleased for you and welcome to this thread, yay! the temping worked!!!

welcome PJen and Sazzie and congrats on your BFP

trying hope you're ok and can't wait for the good news

fudge sorry to hear you're still bleeding Hope you get your appt soon, I'm with everyone else, they can't be too worried if you haven't been admitted immediately so keeping fingers crossed for you. Hope you manage to get lots of rest!

spirael whiteroses Hermya nice to know what everyone is doing wrt mat leave. It's so hard as it's impossible to predict how tired we'll be at that point!

homebound hope you managed to sort out your scan.I got a book too called 'the pregnancy book' was also really impressed by it The pains used to freak me out as well, so you're not alone, I just kept going to the loo after 'just in case'. I bought DH a book called 100 tips for blokes on pregnancy but he's not read it so I wouldn't waste your money if your DH doesn't seem really interested.

Hermya did you enjoy your moussaka tonight? I love it but at the moment can't cook anything as smell of cooking just makes me feel nauseous so relying on ready to cook meals at the moment

Am so annoyed at DH, we had an argument last night and he said, 'I know you're hormonal at the moment' I'm SO sick of him blaming things I get annoyed about on my hormones!! I also don't think he realises how exhausted I am everyday and can't do my fair share around the house at the moment. MEN!!!!!! (ok rant over)

On a more positive note, I got my scan today I'll be 10+6 then and can't wait, really nervous one minute in case there's something wrong and then really excited the next....I think I'm turning into a nutcase!

Have a good rest of the week ladies

homebound · 06/05/2010 21:05

hermya you just made my day :D Love how you say LO is all safe and snuggly in there...made me smile! ALSO, im so excited for you hearing the heart..that must be the most musical sound!!

mumnerves Not sure how to make sure he is in the loop at this point...suppose I cant really do anything except how im feeling. Ugh..he is just a man..prolly thinks his part is over..HA lol

Hermya321 · 06/05/2010 21:16

Mumsnerves I was about to make it when the hospital rang me to ask me to go back to have my bloods redone . So it was pasta in the end, I will make that mousakka though, it has become a personal vendetta for me now.

Still nothing from trying? I guess she's having her baby!! How exciting!

lucky I'd heard about the honey thing before but have always been able to manage it with nasal sprays etc so haven't gone down the natural route. Might be something to try this time - although it might be difficult finding honey from my part of London!

homebound great that you had such a reassuring time at the docs and that you'll have your scan before you go. Yep am definitely doing the old lady stocking thing - the midwife recommended that too. Such a good look!
BTW, my DH is much the same when it comes to reading about pregnancy - I passed him my 'What to Expect' the other night and he made some comment about not wanting to read a textbook!! It's funny, I'm just so voraciously devouring any info about babies I can get, whereas he's much more laid back about it. It did mean that when I told him that the heartbeat was between 130 and 160 at the last m/w appt he was surprised it was so fast!

hermya lol at the pizza and crying at the Grey's dog!

halo welcome, welcome again! Hope it's all starting to sink in for you now!

chance wow 30 weeks! Am I remembering correctly that you are only going the one way and that you're moving back to Oz? Sorry if I'm confusing you with someone else, blame the baby! Good idea about the yoga, it's something I've been meaning to start so must get onto that. I requested a bulkhead or emergency exit seat so hopefully I'll have a bit of extra space. Otherwise it'll just be grin and bear it! Interesting about the BP readings. I am v nosey when it comes to that kind of thing - sorry!

bunny you fly to work?! Is that every day then (daft question alert )? What I mean is do you fly at the start and end of the week?

So pleased it's Friday tomorrow! Have a good one all!

Evening lovely ladies,

This is the first time in weeks I've managed to actually stay awake long enough to get on MN! I've been reading and lurking!

I'm 19+4 and I'm still suffering with sickness, I'm still being sick every morning without fail! So I'm guessing this might be the case for the next few months now! I can cope with it though, as I'm only sick first thing, then I feel ok for the day. The tiredness seems to have stepped up a level this last few days. I have to say I am properly loving being pregnant now though. I've got a lovely bump, have to say I'm loving my ever changing body, it's fascinating to DH and I at what my body is capable of. I can feel my LO moving about in there and have done for the last 3 weeks, have discovered that chocolate milk makes him/her move loads I've got my 20 week scan a week today and until about a week ago I was totally undecided as to whether I wanted to find out the sex or not, but I've decided that I do actually want to know, DH has wanted to know all along so is delighted! So hopefully all being well, this time next week we'll know whether or not we're expecting a son or a daughter! Exciting times

homebound my DH didn't really show much interest in pg until I had the scan. I think it was just his way of protecting himself in case something went wrong. Once we saw the baby he was much more excited and he's really taking an interest now. I caught him reading my copy of "What to expect" at the weekend.

Hermya How cool getting to hear the heartbeat. Hope you get to have your moussaka tonight

mumnerves good luck with your scan

worrisome The practice I work at is 500km north of Sydney so I have to fly up there. I fly up on a Monday and come back on a Wednesday, and I only go once every two weeks. In fact I really don't do much work at all.....

hobnob sorry you're still being sick, although it at least sounds like it's being quite predictable. Good luck with your 20 week scan

Seems like my sickeness is returning I've been feeling great for the past week but I was sick last night and this morning. In fact although I feel sick less of the time, I actually feel sicker when it does happen. Looking at the computer screen makes it worse so might have to cut down on my MN time for a few days!

Homebound - "Was considering those God awful stockings for old people, gosh...the hubby will struggle to keep his hands off me" - lol! Don't worry, you've already got what you needed off him!

Halo - nice to see you here. Both my midwife and GP calculated 40 weeks from the date of my last period, regardless of ovulation, and went with that till the scan said otherwise. They were only two days out in the end, but I don't know if that was normal or just fluke!

Chance - my holidays run April-April and if you don't use them, you lose them. So all of my holidays from April '10 - '11 have to be used before my maternity leave (before Sept '10). Then while I'm on maternity, I'll start building up holidays from April '11. I can tag those ones on towards the end, but will need to know, again, when I'll be working, so another "nearer the time" thing!

Aww, Bunny - you'll need to know if DH does anything nice for you on Sunday!

Homebound - I got the book too, which was a surprise - must cost a fair bit, mustn't it?

As for the pain sitting up, I had and still get that fairly often, just when I bend a certain way. I don't think it's anything to worry about, but I know it didn't stop me! Guess it's just preparing us for for spending the rest of our lives worrying!

Hermya - when's your scan?! I'm dying to know if your hunch is right! Great news about the heartbeat too, by the way.

Ugh, Mumnerves - that's the equivalent of a patronising pat on the arm and "is it your time of the month?" You really feel like hitting them, don't you?! (And I'm not a violent person!) Sooo annoying though. What, because we're pregnant, there can't possibly be a REASON for us being upset?! Grr!

Worrisome - nice to know my DH isn't the only one who doesn't want to read textbooks. I don't think he isn't interested, cause when I tell him, he does take it in, but I think it just means more to me maybe, cause it's my body. Funnily, he was far more excited and clued up than me on the post-pregnancy part. I.e. he had been looking at prams long before I felt it was "safe" to! I think he just wants the baby here, cause then he's more than just a bystander.

Hobnob - don't give up on the sickness. It still hasn't lifted completely for me yet, but got a good bit better after twenty weeks. My midwife also told me hers didn't get better till 23 and 25 weeks with her two babies. Everyone's different, so fingers crossed. Good to hear from you anyway though. Dying to know if you're having a boy or a girl! I couldn't have not known!

Aww, Bunny - if looking at the computer makes you sick, don't read any of my posts! Really hope it's just an "off" day for you though, and you'll feel better again tomorrow. x

Not a whole lot new from me, other than that I saw the physio again and she found a third problem with my pelvis, which is also contributing to the bum pain. Fingers crossed it's fixable though. Aside from that, nothing really... Lovely weather but unfortunately I'm working all weekend!
