Oh Zips I am gutted for you. You and Kkas were with me right from the start of joining Mumsnet, and I always look out for you guys with my fingers crossed. I can't imagine what you must be feeling, and what your DH must be going through. Sad Hopefully now that the doctors have found the problem they can start to remedy it - don't ever give up hope.
I am so so sad that you are having to go through this.

kkas · 27/08/2010 14:14

pixiestix thanks for your kind mention. i follow you on here everyday too and can't wait for your news next month!

MrsWajs · 27/08/2010 16:18

congrats to sazzie I haven't "met" you either but it's exciting to hear of new arrivals all the same!!

Hoping everything is well with ozzie and looking forward to hearing more baby news soon!

As for me, got my booking appointment on 6th September - any ideas what I should expect at that? Seems to be different lots of places. I'll be 9 weeks by then anyway so hoping they will give me a date for my scan too and I'm hoping it won't all seem so far away!! I've become grossly impatient already - not sure how I'll get through the full whack!!!

Still not having any morning sickness and boobs seem to have grown very slightly and are a bit tender (kind of like they would be if AF was due) and that's all I have in the way of symptoms, part of me wishes I was throwing up left, right and centre so I felt more pregnant but the other part of me knows I would never cope with that - me and sick don't go together!!

Hermya321 · 27/08/2010 16:20

Zippy I'm so so sorry to hear your news, I can't even begin to understand the shock that must of been for you both. I hope that you guys look after yourselves during this tough time. I'm thinking of you and your DP.

Hello everyone!

hermya sorry to hear about your double hospital trip but glad you are ok.
Not tried the cordial but am eating a lot of ginger biscuits and ginger cake!

Congratulations to sazzie ! :)

There are quite a few of you due over the next few weeks so an exciting time coming!

I had my first scan on tuesday which went really well. It was amazing! Grin Could see the whole baby really clearly (head, body, 2 arms, 2 legs!) and could see the heart beating. Baby measures 6cm now which means they put my due date forward a few days to 4th March.

OneOf8 · 27/08/2010 16:38

Good news about the scan Super - I was shown the heart at the other scans - but couldn't see it (if you see what I mean!)

You wait till the next one (12 weeks approx) - truely amazing!! over 48 hours later, I am still "wow" at the picture and the detail we saw at the scan!

MrsW I made the mistake of wishing sickness on myself - really - don't do it! I have been so much luckier than friends, but the hangover sick feeling you have to walk around with... nah, enjoy feeling well!

re booking in, Halo was the most recent one on here from memory - Think she agreed it was boring! Will tell you about mine tonight as have to run now... but in case i forget later, they don't tend to confirm this - as hospital send the scan dates after the booking in... may not be the same in your area, but forewarned etc!

superpenguin · 27/08/2010 16:43

zippys SO sorry to read your sad news. I can't imagine what you are going through. :(

haloflo · 27/08/2010 17:07

hermya I hope you are feeling better after your time in hospital. Must have been scary. Good to hear your bouncing little bunny is doing well.

seablue That sounds awful you poor thing. I hope the physio helps. I think there's a support thread on the pg boards too so hopefully you will get reassurance from there. Vent away to us at any time though! I hope your scan went well today.

hobnob Again you poor thing. I feel like I'll never be at your stage so have not sure what to say. I hope you don't have to have a CS but that more research eases all your worries.

sazzie Congrats!!! Evie is a beautiful name Grin

oneof8 So glad that your scan went well! Sounds like an amazing experience. I take it you are 20 weeks? Half way! How exciting!

mrsw All I got at my booking appointment was a load of stuff to read and a scan booked. She did mine over the phone , others got letters. Others had blood & urine taken for tests. I've having all that done on 6 September 2010 (good date!) provided all is well at the scan on Tuesday. I'm guessing each MW is different but I'm sure they will talk you through it. I've not been sick (yet). Sounds like I mostly feel like oneof8 - hungover! I've been nauseous but not sick. Everyone is affected differently so don't worry and enjoy feeling well. Tender boobs is defiantly a good sign anyway.

super I lurk in the March Antenatal thread so already knew of the good scan news from you. Glad all is well. Am desperate for mine now (poor you having to wait longer!)

zippys I sent my best wishes from the other thread but have them from here too. xxxx

aly323 · 27/08/2010 18:27

Congrats to Sazzie! I'm so happy for you!!

Zips, I'm sorry for the news, but also am glad you now have an idea of what's happening and what can be done. Although it's a shock, you and DH will, one way or another, eventually have your little one. I hope DH starts to feel better soon.

Kkas you were the only one still around from the start with me. I'm still anxiously awaiting your BFP.

I'm guessing Ozzie is busy about now. I can't wait to get everyone's birth stories!

And..............I'm having a BOYSmileSmileSmile!!! I've got one very proud papa to deal with today.

NovemberAli · 27/08/2010 18:46

Sorry to hear your news Zippys, really hope everything works out for you, you really have been through a tough time this year.

Big congrats to Sazzie!

Fantastic news you're having a boy Aly - it must make it seem all the more real somehow!

Hobnob - my SIL had a ELCS and found it to be a really positive experience, will be thinking turning thoughts for you but try not to worry too mush about a CS.

My official due date is Sunday but I'm still convinced by my own predicted due date of the 2nd Sept, but after all these early babies I could yet be proved wrong Smile. Have enjoyed my first week of maternity leave though!

pixiestix · 27/08/2010 21:29

Awww Aly, that is fab! Congratulations! Smile Smile

And big congrats to you Sazzie - Evie is such a lovely name. Can't wait to hear all the gory details! Grin

Big wave and a hug to Kkas! It will be great when you are over here permanently with us.

November - eek! You are really close! Maternity leave is bliss though, isn't it? Grin

I liked your analogy of the surprise party Hermya - I have been telling people that I feel like a ticking bomb, but your description was much more poetic! (and kinder to the LO!)

bunnygirl80 · 27/08/2010 23:51

oneof8 congrats on the good scan. Using your bladder as a pillow is quite cute......when LO starts using it for punching/kicking practice it becomes less cute and more an issue of never being more than a swift waddle sprint to a toilet Grin

super congrats on your scan

mrsw enjoy the lack of symptoms - I'm sure you'l get some soon enough. I can still remember wishing I would fell just a little bit sick, then spending 6 weeks or so wishing that I would stop feeling sick. Then when the sickness eventually stopped I spent my time worrying that it meant there was something wrong Smile I think all the worrying we do in pg is to prepare us for all the worrying we'll do about our babies once they're born

aly congrats on your boy

november I'm going to be on the edge of my seat for the next few days waiting for your birth announcement Smile

pixie I think the ticking bomb is a great description for me at the moment. I'm on such a short fuse - poor DH is getting yelled at daily, but things he does have really started irritating me. Habits he's had since I've known him which I've always found mildly annoying are now driving me mad!!

I must know look obviously pg rather than borderline fat cos when I was at the aupermarket yesterday the checkout girl was asking me all about the baby. Slight problems with a bit of a language barrier though as her English wasn't great. SHe kept asking me "do you know who it is?". It took 4 attempts before I realised she wasn't asking whether I knew whose it is (I was starting to think I look like a woman of loose morals who would have several potential fathers for the baby) but what it is ie boy or girl Grin

Hello all! Just grabbing 2 secs to post and will post properly soon, but Thomas was born on 25 August by c-section. he is wonderful, so beautiful, cute, lovely little boy, weighing 7lb 1oz.

Not a thing went to plan! Induction failed, foetal distress, EMCS, he had serious low blood sugar, breastfeeding hasn't worked and I am expressing around the clock (singing "I'm just a milk machine" to the tune of "I'm just a love machine") but I feel great, we have crossed each battle as it arises and I honestly don't think I could love my DH and DS any more. DH has been a total rock and has made what has been a relatively traumatic time into something magical and happy and just fab.

Will post with all the details later and I haven't read anything back so sorry that I haven't responded to any other posts, we only got home from hosp yesterday and it's been busy busy since then!

felicityFlick · 30/08/2010 06:59

Huge congratulations ozzie! I'm glad all is well with little Thomas now. You sound totally blissed out- enjoy your baby moon! xxx

bunnygirl80 · 30/08/2010 07:39

Congratulations ozzie Grin Sounds like Thomas made a slightly dramatic entrance into the world.

I love your choice of name - it's actually one of my favourite boys names Smile

Hope you're enjoying being home and you're settling into life as a family.

Yayyy! Congrats ozzie so fab to hear from you. Sorry things didn't go to plan, but your post makes it all clear - the baby is important at the end of the day and you sound like you're in utter bliss!! Congrats again!!

aly welcome to the boy club!!

Hermya321 · 30/08/2010 09:55

congrats to ozzie and welcome to little thomas. glad you are both doing well and can't wait to hear how you get on with being a mummy :)

NovemberAli · 30/08/2010 10:40

Congratulations Ozzie! Sounds like you're coping really well after a less than ideal birth. Hope you are all enjoying your first days as a brand new family Smile - love the name thomas, would be my choice for boys name but it's also my brother's name so would be a bit weird.

addie81 · 30/08/2010 11:34

congratulations Ozzie - great news.

Ozziegirly · 30/08/2010 14:28

Thanks everyone and congrats to sazzie - wonderful news!

Basically, I went into hosp on my due date, ready to be induced due to the gestational diabetes. The gels allowed my waters to be broken - which was actually fine. Then contractions started by themselves, but coming thick and fast with minimal recovery time. I had an epidural in so I had a mobile epidural which was bliss. I honestly could not have coped without it as all I could do was lie on my side silently, just focussing - no active birth at all as my back was just agony if I moved!

Then was examined after 4 hours - 1 cm dilated. Bummer. also, during this 4 hours DS's heart rate was consistently high, altough not dangerously so, but still they were not happy.

Synotocin drip started and DS's heart rate began decelerating in time with the contractions so my obstetrician made the decision to go for EMCS without any further labour at all.

C-section was weird. I could feel pressure and my DH just had my head right next to his and was talking talking talking to take my mind off it as I just moaned as it felt so bizarre. Thomas born and dellivered to my chest, healthy, screaming, Apgar of 9, wonderful little thing.

Then we tried to feed and nothing. He had his blood sugar checked and it was really low, so was whisked off to nursery with DH while I was in recovery. Formula given.

Then I went to my room. Over the next 3 days Tom had his sugars checked about 4 times a day and they were all over the place. Meantime I was trying to breastfeed but despite every nurse and lactation consultant we just couldn't get things going. Tom would latch on but then just not suck at all.

So I started expressing and still am - I am actually expressing loads!

Home after 5 days. Will post more tomorrow but off to bed now.

WorrisomeHeart · 30/08/2010 16:31

Well done ozzie, sounds like you had a marathon of a time, but I am very pleased it all worked out well.

(and a little jealous that you have your LO already and I have to wait 6 weeks for my boy Grin)

MrsWajs · 30/08/2010 23:00

Awww congratulations ozzie!!

bunnygirl80 · 30/08/2010 23:58

ozzie that sounds like you had a difficult time of it.

Sorry to hear BFing has been a struggle for you. I have to say I admire your commitment to making sure Tom's still getting breastmilk - I'm not sure I'd have the stamina to deal with a newborn and expressing all thier feeds.

I assume you've probably got a decent breastpump, but if you want to try different types/brands the Austrlian Breastfeeding Association hire them out for a few dollars a day, so you can try out a top of the range electric double pump before you shell out hundreds of dollars on buying one if needed.

I searched on roses' username and she hasn't posted on MN at all since July. I hope everything's ok....she was having such a difficult pg maybe she just hasn't had time to spend on here

I went on yet another baby related shopping spree yesterday. I caved and got my Peter Rabbit bunny ears towel, as well as a sterilser, bottles and a change bag. Oh. and yet more cute little clothes Grin

DH is very impressed with the change bag cos it has hundreds of pockets which apparantly makes it suitable for him to be seen out and about with Hmm
