Halo, Muse is totally right, brown spotting is usually nothing to worry about at all, and lots of us on this thread had it, including myself. The doctors will probably only act on it if its is accompanied by cramps or lots of red blood. That said, if you go to the GPs and tell them your history, and TBH have a bit of a cry/hysterical moment then they will most likely refer you to the EPU so you can get some reassurance. I know thats not a very feminist piece of advice to give, but sometimes you have to make the most of being a hormonal woman!

Fudgecat - thinking nice "fat" thoughts for Splodge!

OneOf8 · 02/08/2010 12:22

Morning All

Halo - I had bright red bleeding early on, and shit myself panicked.

Agree with visiting the GP - they can refer you to EPU. I measured 6+6 when I had the scan due to bleed. Heartbeat was clear and was a circle blob on screen which was really reassuring.

Brown is better than red from what I read at the time (as continued a couple of days), and sorry to be graphic but my bleed was fresh blood red, and a lot - not spotting at all.

I really have everything crossed things are fine xx

Fudge Good luck for today xx

Ozzie - sorry start to Mat leave wasn't great, but on a plus note not long till you meet LO!

I have had the quad test today - results Friday/Monday if high risk. During this the nurse said that in my area they were introducing the option of both the bloods and scan to all women not just to those at high risk for babies due on or after 16th Feb 2011. Not sure if they are increasing the tests offered in all areas, but thought I'd mention all the same.

Hope everyone else is having an ok Monday!

haloflo · 02/08/2010 12:59

GP refered me for an early scan no crying needed! Am really glad I went now. Early scan is 11.15 Wednesday morning. I will be 7 weeks exactly then so fingers crossed a heartbeat is heard.

Thanks all, I will update you Wednesday night.

OneOf8 · 02/08/2010 17:45

Halo scan at this stage they should be able to do the normal scan but just to warn you they might do the internal if they cant see a good picture on the other.

This is totally normal, I just wanted you to be aware to avoid worry if they say this on the day.

Also, I had to drink water to have a full bladder, 750 ml was fine, and I'm a bit of a porker so assume you'd be fine - however if the internal is needed they do allow you to go to the loo before doing this scan (as try the external scan first)

Will be thinking of you xx

Muser · 02/08/2010 18:10

My 8 week scan was done as an internal, no attempt to do a belly one first. So don't be surprised if they jump straight to dildocam haloflo. Will have everything crosses for you.

WorrisomeHeart · 02/08/2010 18:48

Good luck for the scan halo, I'm sure all will be fine.

fudge hope today's check went well and splodge is looking nice and fat!

We have our first NCT class tonight - am actually a bit nervous that all the other couples will be horrible, which is daft really. DH is now trying to swot up on all things birth whcih is amusing seeing as he's not done any reading before now and keeps saying things to me like 'have you thought about whether you want a managed or natural third stage?' Bless him, its very sweet but quite a shift from his previous interest level!

Hope your week is going well!

mumnerves · 02/08/2010 19:57

fudge hope the check up went ok, sending big fat vibes your way!

ozziegirl duh to me!! I did think that you were already in oz and wondered!! I think I'd still get jabs done, if it was me, not because of the bugs in Oz(or lack of them) but because you never know what's circulating in the plane, we're thinking of travelling after LO is born and want to wait for 3 months at least because of that. So sorry you had such a bad day, but pleased that baby is ok!

pixie hope the week goes really quick for you x

hermya I don't think it's irrational at all to freak out about not having everything planned and ready. I've already done quite a bit of my own freaking out. My Dh just seems so laid back about it all and if yours is just the same then it just puts extra pressure on us to get it right before LO comes along

flick so lovely of you to pop in ((waves))

haloflo what a bad time you've been having I can totally understand you panicking after the last time but I'm sure everything is ok, do keep us updated on weds and I hope the bleeding keeps away till then x

oneof8 what's a quad test?

worrisome hope your class goes ok, I couldn't get into one early enough, the soonest one ends 2 weeks before my due date and didn't want to pay all that money only to have gone for a few classes if LO comes early. Let us know how you get on please?

Hope everyone had a good weekend and monday. Not much happening my end except I'm sure someone has put a 'kick here' sign up on my bladder as LO has given me 2 sharp kicks over the weekend exactly against my bladder causing me to have to rush to the loo or risk weeing myself! Naughty LO !

Hermya321 · 02/08/2010 21:15

Halo I had bleeding around about your point as well, had a scan and it was fine. I hope everything goes well though.

Fudge Hope everything is going well for you.

Mumnerves I know, my DH could be told the world was ending and his only response would be a raised eyebrow and a comment along the lines of 'nothing good on TV anyway'.

Went back to work today, I lasted until lunch time and then came home and fell asleep on the sofa. I thought I wasn't supposed to get all huffy and tired until I was as big as a house.

On the other side of things, we got our baby blankets delivered today. They're so so soft, I can't wait to put LO in them.

Work is going ok, everybody seems to be worried as we're going through a huge review type thing at the moment. It doesn't make for a nice atmos at times. You know what it's like, you get rumour after rumour going about and then when it does happen. It's never that bad. I went through something similar in my last job, I worried and worried for weeks until I got to the point of thinking 'I can't do anything about it, so whats the point'. I suspect the pregnancy 'not bothered about anything beyond the bump' attitude is helping enormously.

I'm actually enjoying being this unbothered.

Just popping by to see how Fudge got on with her Monday scan - hope all ok with Splodge. Thinking of you.

Halo - good luck for wednesday.

aly323 · 03/08/2010 01:07

I rarely get time to post anymore, but I still manage to sneak a read here and there. I too, am thinking about Fudge and splodge, and am hoping for good news. Also, I just wanted to let Halo know that I had bleeding at around 6 weeks as well.

WorrisomeHeart · 03/08/2010 10:01

Hi all

Am feeling rubbish today so have taken a mental-health day - was feeling very nauseous on the train so turned around and came home again. Now lying on the sofa feeling better but very glad that I'm not at work! Terrible, I know, but my dedication levels have dropped completely and as I normally struggle in when I'm proper sick, I figure a day off won't hurt. Anyone else feeling very much over the whole work thing? Glad I've only got just under 6 more weeks of it.

NCT class last night was brill - people were really lovely (apart from one couple that I'm just not sure about yet - you know how some people you just don't click with?) The tutor was also great and it wasn't too 'woo' which I was worried about, especially as DH doesn't really swallow that type of thing very easily and has a tendency to make derisive comments! Not the best way to make a good impression! As it was, we talked through the stages of labour and initial thoughts on relaxation etc. Apparently the scary birth vids are still to come!

Hope you are all having ok days!

fudgecat · 03/08/2010 10:22

Hi all

yesterdays scan didn't go very well, the weight gain has dropped off and the flow through the cord has deteriorated

The doctor does not think that we will get to a viable weight. Just feel devastated, its my birthday today and all i can do is cry

WorrisomeHeart · 03/08/2010 10:45

Oh fudge so so sorry to hear that. Sending you huge hugs.

Muser · 03/08/2010 10:56

aly323 · 03/08/2010 21:13

Fudge I wish there was something I could say to help make everything better for you. I'm so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. Whatever happens, I just want to tell you that I am amazed and awed by the love and determination you have shown through the last few weeks and by your baby's incredible little spirit- you have both made a huge impression on me.

Also, cry all you want- your body just needs that sometimes. Sometimes crying is the best thing you can do for yourself.
