oh addie sorry to hear about your fall and glad you are ok.

my mum asked me if she should start knitting yet the other day! my mum hasn't been known to knit since when I was a baby so we'll see how that goes!

luckyseven · 28/07/2010 18:21

addie sorry to hear about your fall, it must have been very scary. Muser and superpenguin hope your yuk feelings are on the wane. Time goes so slowly at the start. Fudge glad splodge put on weight but sorry it is not as much as you had hoped. Just posting on my phone to say all went well at the scan, amazing difference in ten weeks, saw its cute face and it was a wriggler.didn t see any bits and bobs so the secret remains. Have an anterior placenta and have yet to feel any movement and it might be a while. But so relieved that all is going to plan and they have changed my date from christmas eve to seventeenth so it is likely i will have a baby by christmas.

mumnerves · 28/07/2010 21:33

fudgecat you shouldn't feel so down about a little weight gain, at least splodge has gained some weight and is such a little fighter! Big hugs for you, and don't even think about what ifs, just think, if you had you both wouldn't be at this stage now!!

Addie , to have a fall at your stage must be so scary!! Can they not do that thing where they turn the baby? Glad you and baby are ok from the fall though.

oneof8 my DH wanted to know, but he was sweet and said since I was the one giving birth it was ok not to know. It did tempt me badly that he was so keen to know, and me being a nosy bugger just had to keep reminding myself why I wanted a surprise!!

Hermya I've discovered that when it comes to pregnancy everyone is an expert and it gets really annoying! Like you said, you're the one who has to cope with the money or lack of it, so I say just do what you think is best, others can give you advice but you have to do what's best for yourself.

luckyseven Congrats on your scan, it's amazing isn't it to see LO wriggling and all

Boots have some totbots disposable nappies at half price but they are only the size 1 if that's of any use to anyone it's an £86 saving.
Have a good rest of the week ladies!! x

bunnygirl80 · 28/07/2010 23:37

I've been busy at work this week so have been reading but not posting.

fudge sorry to hear Splodge hasn't gained as much weight as you'd hoped. At least s/he gained some weight, and maybe there will be a bit of a growth spurt before your next scan.

addie sorry to hear about your fall, and baby turning. Have you tried looking at all the info on positioing yourself to help baby to turn?

ozzie sounds like you've got lots planned for your mat leave. Hope you manage to get it all done before LO arrives

hermya glad you've managed to get your hours reduced. Don't listen to everyone telling you when you should finish - it's up to you when you want yout mat leave to start. I'm actually doubling my hours for my last month at work so we can save as much money as possible before we lose my income

oneof8 it's great that you heard the heartbeat. I only got to hear for the first time last week at my 22 week appointment, and even then LO was moving to much to hear it for long. Thankfully my obs does a scan at every appointment, so I've always seen the heartbeat even if we couldn't hear it

My thighs have also decided to join in with the weight gain.....have been having trouble getting some of my mat clothes up over my legs and bum

lucky great news about your scan

We put a sign up in the waiting room at work this week announcing when I will be starting mat leave, as I was getting fed up of having to tell 30 patients a day the same thing. It worked really well as everyone was very nice saying how lovely and compact my bump is and how great I'm looking. It really put a smile on my face One mum did start complaining but I don't quite know what she expects me to do.......pop the baby out in the toilets during my lunch break and then get straight back to work I think

Hermya321 · 29/07/2010 22:39

I used to be such a rationale person, I've just had a major freak out about a pack of muslins. It took Dh, the internet and a cup of tea to calm me down.

On the plus side I saw Wicked the Musical this week and it was beyond fab!! Seriously I would recommend it to anyone.

Addie Glad you're feeling better

Muser Penguin Hope you're feeling better.

Bunny Awww they're the best kind of compliments aren't they. I love people saying 'oh thats a nice bump' as it doesn't make me feel like some sort of whale (not that I am, but considering the muslin situation I think all rationality has gone out the window now).

Mumsnerves Exactly my thinking, they can't force me onto maternity so I'm not going to go until I'm good and ready.

Ozziegirly · 30/07/2010 04:17

Hello everyone

Hermya hope your muslin breakdown wasn't too traumatic.

Bunny that's nice that people have been nice about the pregnancy. I also like it when people say how well I'm looking. I love the idea of someone moaning - what can you say "oh, ok, as you've complained I'll just re-absorb this baby into my body and have it at a more convenient time for you, complete stranger".

It's finally my last day at work today! Yippppee! So excited. I have done barely anything all week apart from handover notes. We have a leaving lunch for me (in a few minutes actually) and I've had some nice pressies and we had cake this morning (not that i could have it!).

AND my DH has resigned from his job but we are not heading to Sydney until the start of October so we have ample time which I feel relieved and calm about.

AND he is having 3 weeks off when the baby comes as his new job have said not to start too early as "the baby is more important" so big "family friendly yays" to ANZ bank.....especially as they have said he can work in the Adelaide office for 5 whole weeks, the utter stars.

So, all in all I feel very jolly about everything .

Ooh, and I had my first acupuncture session on Wednesday which was weird/good. Couldn't feel the needles going in at all, but I did feel a bit achy (kind of period type pain) afterwards and VERY tired, so I guess something must have gone on in there.....

Hope everyone has lovely weekends xxx

felicityFlick · 30/07/2010 10:48

Congrats on your last day at work ozzie! We'll have another Frolicker's baby soon Love from the TTC'ers to the Grads xxxxx

felicityFlick · 30/07/2010 10:49

PS. hope you're ok Hermya xxx

luckyseven · 31/07/2010 17:58

hi girls quick tip after spiraels advice. That lasinoh cream for bf is half price in sainsbury until the third of august. Who doesn t love a bargain? Sorry overseas girls.

addie81 · 31/07/2010 19:32

lucky - thanks for the tip, I am off to Sainsburys!

WorrisomeHeart · 31/07/2010 20:46

Again, sorry for the non-Uk FF's!

WorrisomeHeart · 31/07/2010 20:48

Arse, link didn't work - maybe because I buggered it up!! Let's try that again, shall we?

mumnerves · 31/07/2010 22:32

bunnygirl ...members of the public can just be weird can't they? How dare you have a baby at your own convenience! Ah well but then again it's prob just cos you're good that she was moaning!

Hermya hope you're ok, but can I be nosy and ask how you managed to freak out over muslins?

Ozziegirl great news about finishing work! Just wondering are you delaying the trip to oz because of jabs?

Tip wrt lansinoh, if you need anymore, get it on prescription from the GP hence free with your maternity cert (sorry to anyone not in UK too)

addie81 · 31/07/2010 22:40

just went to sainsbury and bought the last tubes of lansinoh that they have. its actually half price on all baby toiletries, including wipes/lotion/breast pads etc etc. Worth popping in to stock up if you have one near you.

mumnerves · 31/07/2010 23:10

Oh forgot to say thanks for the tip about Sainsburys and the freebie link, have applied for my free samples

Ozziegirly · 01/08/2010 00:54

Hi mumnerves - I actually already live in Oz (in Adelaide) so it's just an interstate move for us, nothing too desperate!

But also, you don't actually need any jabs to come here anyway - we're pretty disease free

pixiestix · 01/08/2010 16:29

Hey all,
Sorry I have been so antisocial this week - its my last week of work so everything is a bit mad, plus with the diabetes and the anaemia I am a bit fucked tired! I promise I will catch up properly later in the week when I become a lady of leisure - hooray!

Still no news from Roses? Let us know how you are lady, I worry!

Hope Splodge has gained a big chunk of weight tomorrow Fudgey.

Hermya321 · 01/08/2010 17:08

Hello,

Feeling better now, just getting ready to go back to work tomorrow . I just can't be bothered anymore, I think I've got to the point where anything beyond things related to pregnancy/babies just don't feature on my radar.

Pixie Oooooo lady of leisure, I'm really quite jealous.

Mumsnerves Nope not nosey, I'd been at my PIL for the week and everybody was talking about babies and the pregnancy. I was literally surrounded by baby stuff and my cousin told everybody that she was expecting as well. Before this point I'd been very happily just ticking things off of my list and getting on with it. I actually felt quite proud of myself. But all week people kept talking about what they were getting and what they needed and it just sort of built up. I was looking at muslins on babies R us and was discussing them with DH at the same time and we got into this discussion about them as he thought they were a bit pricey. I ended up having this big freak out about how we didn't have everything we needed and our baby would suffer from some sort of lack of muslin abuse because we didn't have enough. So yeah thats how it came about.

Flick Hello!!! Hope you're well.

addie81 · 01/08/2010 18:58

BARGAIN alert - if you spend more than £100 at Mothercare and enter VCW in the discount code box at the very last confirmation screen in the order process then you get 20% off! I had already bought a cameleon, but it doesn't really fit in our little hatchback, so DH said I could get a Bee plus as well, which we can leave in the boot and use for trips out in the car - I have just ordered it and used that code and saved more than £100 - bargain! I bought the hood/cocoon as well. Anyone with big baby purchases still to make - get yourselves on the Mothercare website while the code still works! x

bunnygirl80 · 02/08/2010 00:22

ozzie you're sounding very happy at the moment. It's great that your DH is able to take some time off and then work in Adelaide for a few weeks.

Soon there will be a whole gang of frolickers in Sydney!!

mumnerves I doubt she was moaning because she thinks I'm great.....she finds something to moan about every time they come in for an appointment. She's one person who makes my heart sink when I see her child's name on my list of patients for the day. I only need to see her once more and then she can spend her time moaning at somebody else

hermya hope you're feeling better after your freak out. I'm sure your LO won't suffer if you don't have enough muslins - you'll just have to do the washing more frequently

fudge hope you see lots more growth from Splodge this week

I had an interesting weekend. After our pot smoking group sex having neighbours moved out, we had some outwardly seeming more normal people move in. It now seems like they're crazier than the last lot! I woke up early on Saturday morning to hear them arguing - well her shouting and him not really having much to say for himself

She was saying some very strange things, the most random of all was when she shouted "there was a CIA family killed in Mexico you know, is that what you want to happen to me?"

So now DH and I are wondering whether we are in fact living next door to a CIA agent (and not a very good one seeing as she's just announced it to the neighbourhood) or whether she's in witness protection or something I'll definitely be listening out for the next installment.

We went out for a friend's 30th on Saturday night, which ended up at a karaoke place. I have to say that karaoke is one of those things that it's a whole lot easier to enjoy when you're drunk. We started off quite well, with relatively tuneful singing, and then as the rest of the group got more and more drunk the singing got worse and worse. I think I'm probably the only one who was able to tell that though Had to leave early in the end, as it gave me a headache!!

Ozziegirly · 02/08/2010 04:51

Well my first day of maternity leave is nice, although didn't exactly start according to plan! I managed to have three hypos over the weekend which was unusual and odd.

Then yesterday the baby was really not moving around as much as usual.

So anyway, after another hypo this morning I phoned the ward and they called me in and I went on the trace machine - whereupon the baby presented with a perfect heartbeat and plenty of movements, the little trickster....just one of those things I suppose!

Anyway, it was lovely to know that everything is going ok, even though it was worrying over the weekend. Plus they were really nice and said I should always come in if I was worried.

So all ok!

haloflo · 02/08/2010 09:24

Morning all. I need a little advice. Sorry I've been quiet the last week or so - I hope you don't think I'm really rude just posting because I need something but I wasn't sure who else to ask.

I'm 6+5 today & on Friday (when I was 6+2) I had brown spotting. I was off work anyway as we were travelling to a family wedding that afternoon. I rested all morning and felt much less sick. The spotting continued on Saturday & on Saturday night I actually drank 2 bottles of beer and started to mourn the loss of my pregnancy. Amazingly though there was nothing yesterday and nothing so far today. This morning I feel sick again and things seem as they were.

Do you think I should be worried by this? Should I visit my GP? I'm off today but back at work tomorrow for the rest of the week. I've been told that I would just having a booking in appointment around 8 weeks so I could just wait until next week when I can ask a midwife rather than a GP. Let me know what you think anyway.

I hope everyone else is well, I know I've some major catching up to do.

Muser · 02/08/2010 10:11

Brown spotting isn't uncommon haloflo and doesn't always mean the worst. I know quite a few people who've had it and gone on to be fine. Is there an early pregnancy unit near you? If you refer yourself you should be able to get blood tests and an early scan to check if everything is ok.

haloflo · 02/08/2010 10:42

Hi muser google tells me that the local early pregnancy unit only takes referals from healthcare professionals and only self referrals if known to the unit.

I've decided to visit a GP today anyway & see what they say.

luckyseven · 02/08/2010 11:06

fudge i hope all goes well at the scan today. Thinking of you.↲halo you poor love. Glad you are going to the doc today. Don t leave any worries until it is more convenient for the nhs. Over here they tell you to ring the doc with any worries but you can also self refer to the early unit via casualty if you are early on. The wait is quite a while and they don t scan on a sunday. Please if you feel up to it pop back and let us know how you get on.
