Hello... Technically I'm due on 30 March, but the March list is already quite long and if DS was anything to go by, we'll be well into April by the time this shrimp makes an appearance (fingers crossed, touch wood, etc etc! - still at the early superstitious stage!!). Shall I start with some stats? I'm 34 (will be 35 just after birth), DH is 33. We've got one DS just turned 2.

Hope to have some thread partners soon, I'm v friendly, honest

Hi folks, sorry haven't been around I've had a horrendous back problem. Went to see my GP in considerable pain Wednesday and had a physio appt. same afternoon - seems likely I had a bulging disc. Good news is that after some physio and paracetamol (that's all I can take in pregnancy) it is so much better, just have to be extremely careful from now on lifting, etc.

I have booked my appt at Barts Hospital in London yesterday for my 12 week scan and the integrated blood test (we still only have the basic double test where I live). Am quite nervous but know it's the right decision for us, we did the same when pregnant with dd1. Roll on October!

Shelly, your post made me laugh, I have an obsession with preggie tests and treat them like scratch cards. I remember doing 5 with dd1, all positive 3 days before af due. Only did 2 this time, both positive day 27 of cycle. DH very relieved as my obsession with these things now over!

Hope everyone all ok,

dancey · 26/08/2005 10:23

How do you know if you've had a missed m/c?

MrsQ · 26/08/2005 10:44

Morning all. Got my dating scan in a couple of hours... am really nervous. Luckily DS is with Gran so not snapping at him, but all DH seems to be able to do is wind me up no end. Driving me crazy. Also trying to drink loads cos supposed to have full bladder for this one (presumably cos its all still so small and needs a bit of a leg up, IYKWIM!) - not so easy when one wasn't as good with pelvic floor exercises as one was supposed to be! Also, didn't have one of these scans last time (locum doctor forgot to book me in for it!) so don't know what it will feel like having seen bean and heartbeat (fingers crossed!) but still not have safety results of nuchral scan.

Welcome to Dancey and Shelley.

peepee - when you have your lovely bean (I've got good feeling about this one, doesn't everyone always say 5th time lucky ), you'll know that everytime you go near a computer to go on MN, someone else will telepathically know, run from the other end of the house and demand CeeBeeBies website... AGAIN!

Sorry dancey,i don't know the answer to that question? But really hope someone can for you.x.x(fingers crossed that everything is ok with you.x)
Thanx for welcoming me ladies.x
Yeah peepee,am very apprehensive!!Although what happened before was just a very rare and one off event,i can't help but be alittle freaked out that something will go wrong again!
I got really panicked last nite as i was thinking that i really didn't feel preg!So i rang my midwife and chatted with her for about an hour!!(shes great!)and made me feel alot better.Although i was worried that i haven't had an sickness yet and wondered if that was a prob!?She said that out of an average 10 preg women she sees a day only 3 of those will actually suffer from morning sickness!

MrsQ · 26/08/2005 10:53

HI Shelley24... scroll down a bit to earlier in the week and you should see a list. I didn't have any sickness with last pregnancy - very occasional queasiness but hardly any. I was really sorry to hear about your son - I'm sure you are nervous. Just keep telling yourself how unfortunate but random it was, there's no reason to think it will happen again. Do you mind me asking how far along you were?

Tumblemum · 26/08/2005 11:29

hi everyone,
peepee lots of good luck for Tuesday will be thinking of you

Welcome to all the newbies
I too have not got much in the way of symptoms, no nausea and only sore boobs and I too find it a worry
but felt nauseous with previous two pg and one resulted in ds the other mc, so it probably does not mean anthing either way iyswim, but like the rest of you i would rather have it
hang in all , the weeks are ticking by
I am away for bholiday so hope you all have a good one and speak next week.

shelly24 · 26/08/2005 16:07

Mrs Q:I was 33weeks gone when Rhys had heart failure I was in hosp and had loads of tests from about 28 weeks. So it wasn't a very nice experience, and i'll never forget him.xBut i'm hoping this baby will bring us some hope for the future, and ofcourse will be a lovely brother or sister to Rhys.x
About the sickness thing,i guess i'm just looking for something to be wrong when it isn't.I know every preg is different so i think i just need to chill out alittle bit!!

shelly24 · 26/08/2005 16:12

Tryingforbump:Are you around, have just seen we have the same EDD date of the 9th of april!

cori · 26/08/2005 17:11

Hi,
Some of you know me from TTC after miscarriage thread.
I got my BFP three days ago. Technically I am due May 4th but will probably be having an elective ceaserean at 38 weeks. So will be due in April. I still dont believe this is real and will take a long time for me to come to grips with this actually happening.
I had M/C in last April at 17 weeks.

Tumblemum · 26/08/2005 19:11

Cori congratulations and welcome to the thread, how are you feeling?

cori · 26/08/2005 19:14

Hi Tumblemum
Thanks, I am feeling quite sick actually (which am glad about as it is a good sign) and quite tired too.

Bouj · 28/08/2005 00:10

Hi there, haven't read all of the thread, but thought I would pop in and say hello. I only did the test yesterday, but am pretty pleased, so here I am! My due date is approx April 29 - so I may migrate to the May thread further along in the pregnancy! I am 29 (30 in Nov), DH is 33 and ds is 2.4. Ds will be 3 about 2 weeks before I am due! Oh, and we are in Australia. I will now read the whole thread and get to know you all! (have been sooo looking forward to joining a 'due in' thread!)

Beabea · 28/08/2005 11:03

I realised I hadnt given much info on my last post so here is the latest. Well I am 7 weeks 4days. Due on or around 11th April. I have felt sick since 6weeks just like last time. I feel sick most of the morning but any distraction from Bea helps. In the evening I really get my appetite back so I do get one good meal a day. So far we have told anyone we come across in person. I just dont feel the need like last time to keep it a secret. However I have had panics that what if I loose it. But to be honest I think I would tell the people we have anyway.

I am awaiting both a MW appt )but that is because I havent rung them yet!)and my 12week nuchal scan date.

I am so much more relaxed this time. The only thing I am concerned about is finding the right name. We really struggled last time.

peepee · 28/08/2005 15:31

Good afternoon ladies,
hope you are all well.
Really good to see some more newcomers

BeaBea, you are the most positive newcomer I have come across. I think I should try and take a leaf out of your book. I do try to be positive. Any reduction in the feeling of nauseau and I panic. I try to stay positive just because I have read that beanie is aware if I get stressed! That stresses me out even more. DH is nervous too. Any time I call whilst am at work he fears the worst. Poor thing

Anyway keep the messages coming.........

Bouj,
Welcome..Great having an overseas visitor on the thread.

Are there any others out there on the thread?

pacinofan · 28/08/2005 15:49

Hi folks, just me and dd on bank holiday weekend 'cos dh is working. Am 6 weeks tomorrow and feeling quite sick, I don't recall feeling as sick in my previous pregnancy.

Peepee - you are not alone worrying, I am probably one of the world's biggest worrriers, it's just the way I am. I know I won't really relax until I'm further on and have had scans, blood tests etc to confirm that all is ok. We also had an early miscarriage 9 months ago and, even though it was early, nevertheless it was a very upsetting experience for us. I am trying very hard to just relax and accept that I cannot change things, I just have to accept nature's course. Off for a walk with dd soon, might ease this awful quesy feeling!

Hope all well with everyone,

Homsa · 28/08/2005 16:11

Congratulations and welcome to all the newbies!

MrsQ, hope you are OK and the scan on Friday went well. You're probably just too busy enjoying the long weekend, but do let us know if everything is fine!

Anyone who wants my ms, you're welcome to it. Can't say I find it very reassuring, just really really annoying. Yesterday I threw up a couple of hours after eating a pizza, and there was nothing of that pizza left in my stomach! I didn't know you could digest that quickly!!

peepee · 28/08/2005 16:16

Hello again,

1hr left of work. YEAAAHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Will be be having to go and collect a very drun Dh later. He is playing cricket (just an excuse)

I am going to go and have some J20's and some sun..

Got my scan on tuesday morning... FINGERS CROSSED.x

MrsQ · 28/08/2005 16:38

Afternoon all. Struggling to stay awake in hot sunshine. DH is too but has his is mostly hangover, I've got no sympathy for him. Does anyone's DH/DP take a break from drinking in compassion for us, or do they all just revel in having free taxi too much?!

Scan went brilliantly on Friday. Saw heartbeat and a sort of wriggle... well, I saw the wriggle and heard the scanner lady tell me there was a heartbeat but to be honest I couldn't really see much, its all a bit wee at the mo! Comedy moments with the full bladder tho - I ended up having the MW booking in appnt before the scan and luckily she realised I wouldn't be able to give her a quick small sample without emptying my whole bladder so she left it. Trouble was, I'd worked so hard filling up my bladder before we got to the hospital that I was sooo desparate by the time we were waiting outside the ultrasound unit I was pacing the corridors with legs firmly clamped together from knee upwards. Everyone looking at me very oddly. When they'd make us wait ten more minutes I could stand it no longer and went for a wee. Just a quick one. ha ha. Managed with much gritting of teeth not to completely empty bladder. One touch of the scanner machine and I thought the rest was going to empty there and then. Only to then be told by scanner that bladder was a bit 'too full' and I was pushing everything right to top of the screen. Argh! Not sure what I can give you all to take away from this... just try not to drink as much as you thought you might need to!

I am back from my break which was lovely. I managed to get a morning nap every day, although DS did get me up early, but it was so nice to have my Mum look after him.

I have just got back from a meal with the in-laws, they insisted we went out to a posh hotel. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't feeling so rough and DS wasn't getting worse with his terrible two's.

I am just catching up with all the threads since I went away. Welcome to all the newbies. Positive thinking is what is needed, I am still convinced I am going to be told there is nothing there when I have my scan in a few weeks, even though I am suffering with ms and extreme tiredness. Shelly24 - a friend of mine had a similiar experience to you and she now has a lovely little girl.

peepee · 29/08/2005 07:45

MrsQ,
How many weeks are you?
I have to go tuesday to have a 7week scan. I just assumed it would be an internal one.
I feel for you as I know how uncomfortable the full bladder thing is. Was told to have a full one last time I went. I was supposed to be having my womb measured but I dropped the bombshell Appointment was for 0930 and at 1015 I finally got to go in. I was not amused, especially when the consultant told me to make sure my bladder was empty!

Enjoy your bank holiday....... I am at work until 3pm.

Bouj · 29/08/2005 10:30

I feel soooo sick. And have a horrible headache. I remember now, I had a headache almost constantly with ds. Not fun. Had to keep my mouth shut today when my sister and our friend visited. friend has a 10 week old and is just lovely. Really wanted to shout about the pregnancy, but figured should tell my mother first! Am doing that this weekend, so it will be a free for all from then on!

peepee · 29/08/2005 12:13

I have the occassional sicky feeling and a constant metal taste in my mouth. My mouth is really watery and I keep getting acid!

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo happy that I feel grotty.

Beabea · 29/08/2005 21:12

Good luck with your scan Peepee. I read a few of your previous posts and see you have been through it a bit.

Im still feeling sick in the daytime. I know it may go on for weeks yet which is a bit depressing. But like you say it means that the baby is doing well.

shelly24 · 29/08/2005 21:12

I just wanted to let everyone know on this thread that you DON'T have to feel sick to have a healthy pregnancy!!!!!
My sister has 4 children and she only felt sick with one of them!I was sick last time and not this time, and i lost my little boy at 33wks last time so it didn't make any difference either way did it!?
Sorry it just really annoys me that everyone thinks they have to feel sick to have a healthy pregnancy.
Its not up to us whether our pregnancies will last or not,if its meant to be it will be,if not then it is for a reason!
This message is going to sound abit harsh, and i'm sorry for that, but ever since i last left a message saying i didn't feel sick, its like everyone has written how happy they are that they're feeling crap!
Every pregnancy is different and sickness is not necessarily associated with a 'healthy' preg.
I don't want anyone to think bad of me,i'm just expressing my opinion, and i just wanted to let those who haven't felt sick atall know that it is nothing to worry about! If anything count yourself as lucky!!
Just try and enjoy your pregnancy and if it is meant to be it will be(soz for my very strong opinions, just wanted to be heard!)

cori · 29/08/2005 21:34

I believe the theory is that sickness is a way of your body telling you to avoid foods/drinks etc that could have harmful effect on your baby in the early months, it means that the hormones that help sustain a pregnancy are kicking in.
However, that doesnt mean that the baby is genetically destined to survive. I had M/S last time and a little bit now as well. It does reasure me but I know it doesnt mean that all is well.
