Hello... Technically I'm due on 30 March, but the March list is already quite long and if DS was anything to go by, we'll be well into April by the time this shrimp makes an appearance (fingers crossed, touch wood, etc etc! - still at the early superstitious stage!!). Shall I start with some stats? I'm 34 (will be 35 just after birth), DH is 33. We've got one DS just turned 2.

Hope to have some thread partners soon, I'm v friendly, honest

last birth was c-setion for foetal distress.

I've been told breech babies can suffer brain damage becuse the head's the biggest bit and if it gets stuck when rest of baby is out....

Unless this was scaremongering

Champagne? smoked salmon? I wish Even if I drank/ate them I'd puke.

BUT I am getting a new car!!! I've ordered it and no dealer in the country had it in so it's coming all the way from Japan! Am v excited. Only downside is may take three or four months so little man will probably arrive before his transport does.

mm oh dear Tonton, think I beat you in the bad mother stakes - wasn't aware that shouldn't be eating smoked salmon so have been merrily munching on smoked salmon and scrambled egg bagels on my days at work (funny isn't how the justification that I only work two days a week and therefore am allowed to have breakfast / lunch from proper adult coffee shop that's never heard of plastic beakers and straws, let alone high chairs once in a while crops up sooooo many times in my reasoning!) AND have held firmly onto the '4 units a week' informatin I read once upon a time.... hell, people used to smoke like chimneys and still have healthy babies and DS1 hasn't shown any signs of distress from the alcohol in that pregnancy

Very impressed that people are doing sensible things like thinking about cars / moses baskets / nurseries.... I just don't seem to be able to summon up energy. Current plan is that DS2 will probably be fine snuggling down in amongst ironing in overflowing laundry basket. Oh dear, roll on maternity leave and two whole days to myself (yippee - Mum's still having DS1 once I've stopped work!!!)

Oh, also meant to say.... have heard lots of postivie stories of both reflexology and hypnotherapy treatments managing to turn breech babies. Worth a try?

Oh goodness, this is a timely prod.

Well, I am impressed that so many of you are organised!

Currently I have a baby bath,
a moses basket,
a pushchair that lies flat,
loads of moses basket bedding,
some newborn clothes, (and I'm not buying any newborn clothes, these are borrowed because ds was 8lb 7 oz and 22 inches long!)
some 0-3 vests,
some 0-3 babygrows,
a steriliser and emergancy bottles,
and some rubber scoopy type bibs that I bought in the Boots sale.

I have not done myself any favours, as I decided firmly after ds was born that he was to be an only child, and gave everything away. Luckily a close friend of mine has just had a baby boy!

Can anyone think of anything else I will need?

I am not a girl who is big on splurging, so if I can comfortably do without it I will.

Good luck to all you ladies whose babies are floating the wrong way round - I don't even know about this one, the midwives have been too engrossed in sticking needles in my arms and bum.

I do think though, that we need a new due in April thread, this one is getting large and unwieldy! We need a head count too, I will start one on the new thread.

Good morning!
I've had a lie in!!! DH got Ds up and they've entertained themselves and I had a lovely long shower and used conditioner and everything - lounge is trashed and there's been a toast-fest but hey-ho!
Colitz - I'm thinking - nappies! and a hat maybe. and an emergency cardigan in case April's really cold!
Did you have a car seat? (or a car for that matter )
I agree with new thread (which is probably where everyone is at the moment) but I don't know how to do that clever "here" thing that people do to point technophobes like me in the right direction!

colditz · 21/01/2006 11:12

I will start one! Yes need nappies, got hat with the clothes for newborn, we are going to borrow a car seat for the journey home, as we don't have a car anyway
