Here we go, pull up a deck chair, catch some rays and help yourselves to a mini eggs ice cream.

Mummywilliams.... that is awful awful news! I really hope you feel better soon!

I really need to ask you all a question.... has anyone got HORRID nasal congestion at the moment? Thought it was hayfever but piriton (advised by midwife as I was really suffering!) anyway it's not doing anything! It's really getting me down as I can't sleep properly and nothing seems to help! Any suggestions much appreciated!

jennimoo · 28/04/2010 15:54

babybunting - my doctor prescribed a nasal spray, but i haven't cashed in the prescripton yet, as not too bad at the mo. Can't remember the name but she said was fine in pregnancy as only a small dose. Might be worth asking about.

babybunting2010 · 28/04/2010 17:17

Thanks Jennimoo, I did read about one called Rhyno something or similar. Sometimes I feel fine then I suddenly feel awful again!

Had a very active baby earlier, sat watching dd2 swim & baby must have been spinning for about 20 mins!

jennimoo · 28/04/2010 19:20

babybunting my DH used rhinocort and dr did mention that one but picked a different one that she uses herself, but was basically the same. Good luck with it.

I'm feeling really anxious at the mo, not helped by the fact that the midwife doesn't want to see me til after 20 week scan and so haven't heard baby heartbeat for 4 weeks and have another 3 to wait til scan and am worried things aren't right. Haven't felt much the last few days, but no other signs. Have left a message saying I want an appointment sooner but no ones calling back!

Nymphadora · 28/04/2010 19:36

The MW appts seem to vary a lot between areas. I get one at 17 weeks then scan at 20. Last one was 13 weeks.

Hermya321 · 28/04/2010 19:43

Babybunting Yeah I've got that, not to the extent you have but enough to cause sinus headaches. Sorry you're feeling so rough.

Jenimoo I know what you mean, anxiousness and pregnancy do seem to go hand in hand, it's not nice is it. Have you thought about buying yourself a doppler. You should be far enough along to be able to find it (they can be tricky by all accounts just so you know). Also just to say that baby has a lot of room in there at the moment, so some days LO can be head towards your tummy and legs towards the back so you might not be able to feel as much. Sometimes we're so distracted we don't feel as much some days as well. I'm sure things are fine, but I know myself that people can tell you that for all they're worth but until you've had some reassurance you can feel het up. Also remember the second trimester is the time when most symptons tend to die down and you feel like a normal person again. I've not had many signs of late as well, just a bit tired and grotty. Maybe you're blooming?

Hi all, i felt baby move for first time a couple of days ago, the only time ive heard heartbeat is at 10 week private scan, MW not checked for it and wont see her till 28 weeks now, im 17 weeks on Friday, do you think i should go to the MW drop in clinic and ask them to check or is it too soon? Dont feel baby regulary yet as been very active constructing a dog kennels so not rested at all. I was meant to be having my gender scan tomorrow but had to cancel as i cant afford it which has upset me as i would of felt more reassured that everything was ok.

tiredfeet · 28/04/2010 19:52

ugh I'm feeling really hormonal and weepy today, its really frustrating as there's no reason for it, I just keep feeling really teary. Poor DH he wants to do something to help but there's nothing to 'fix' so I think he feels a bit helpless!

I am feeling kicks and some movement at times now, it is making it feel more real. jennimoo you have my sympathies though as whenever I can't feel anything for a while I have moments of worry, I think its perfectly natural really. I loved hearing the heartbeat at my midwife appointment on Monday, but it only reassured me for the rest of that day really! Baby was wriggling loads and hiding it took the midwife ages to locate the heartbeat, I didn't breathe until she did. So I would worry about getting a doppler as I think while they can move around this much it might make you worry more if you can't hear anything? But I can understand the wish to get one as it does feel a long time between appointments.

Elsa123 · 28/04/2010 20:11

Hello all, yes its sounds like we're all the same with the odd movement then nothing. I think Hermya is bang on the money with not feeling anything depending on the position and also if you're busy. I do hope I get another midwife appointment and I get to hear a heartbeat as, like you Tyson I've heard nothing since 11 weeks!

I've been feeling dog tired and have been rather surprised by this as I thought you had more energy in the 2nd trimester. Since 14 weeks, I'd been a bit more liassez-faire with the vitamins, but have discovered that if I do take them I have more energy, so I've bought 3 packs from tesco today as they are on 3 for 2.

Tiredfeet, the hormonal thing is pants. I have heard that chocolate contains seratonin, the happy hormone- perhaps you should have some?!

SilverSky · 28/04/2010 20:16

mummywilliams absolutely thinking of you.

SilverSky · 28/04/2010 20:16

So who is in Bucks? I thought it was Tyson but I was wrong.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 28/04/2010 20:40

You're going to hate me, but I snuck a cheeky scan in yesterday- at a mate's practice, spotted an u/s machine and we did a furtive scan long enough to see a heart beat and a lovely wriggly baby!! With MW news and other stories I was getting anxious, so it was a well timed surprise!

Otherwise, work ok, hayfever seems ok, ds gorgeous and curled up watching Barcelona with dh and chocolate, yum yum

ellabella2 · 28/04/2010 20:53

Oh I am just so so of you all feeling your bubas moving. I have felt absolutely nothing yet and will be 17 weeks this coming Sunday. At least I know it is because of the position of my placenta which is cushioning babies movements apparently as it is on the front of my uterus.

I heard the heartbeat at my 16 week midwife appointment this week and could hardly keep still on the table I was so excited and happy. I think my cheeks nearly split I was so much!!!

Anyone else suffering with lower back pain? I have had a bad back for the last few weeks now. It gets really bad if I sit for too long but eases right up if I move around plenty. Anything others have found helpful would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks x

My back aches a bit and in general I feel like I am stretching round the gut, back and my upper legs sometimes feel heavy.

Aye - am so attractive!

Oh and I think I have outgrown my maternity bra. I am going shopping this weekend for some maternity wear as normal clothes are looking rubbish and I have heard that H&M do some good cheap stuff. Sounds like my kind of budget.

PS - I had to go to the Drs on Friday to have some bloods and I hadnt been very well on Thurs so nurse insisted I see the Dr and it was my lovely Dr and she checked heartbeat with Doppleganger and I was prepared for not hearing it as she did say it can be hard to find it, well she did find it - buried deep down and she said it was a very good heart beat for 14and something weeks. So that was nice. I almost cried when I heard it.

Who else is an emotional wreck? I keep crying.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 28/04/2010 21:11

Lol nymph

Elsa123 · 28/04/2010 21:24

I live in Bucks Silversky.

ellabella2 · 28/04/2010 21:24

Ooops, Nymphadora think I misunderstood your post I am having real pregnancy brain today. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it anyway

Thirdtimer · 28/04/2010 21:25

Okay - so I've been absent for some time... but I'm still here! Had first scan at 10 weeks (new policy apparently... was always 12/13 with dds) anyho.. up to that point was bleeding a bit and panicking a lot - so kept quiet, sorry folks. Scan showed a strong beating heart and I collapsed into puddles. Huge relief and all other things cleared up now so super positive. So went away for easter hols, only to get extended break due to volcanic eruptions and finally find myself back here with an ever expanding girth and hitting the 15 week mark before I can blink!
Have told some friends and family, including dd aged 4 who is over the moon and telling everyone she meets. But work are going to have o wait... not too long though as I'm suddenly blooming and am running out of trousers!! So hope eveyrone is doing okay... and off to bed now it's past all our bedtimes!

Thirdtimer · 28/04/2010 21:29

oh and as for being emotional... anyone else just sobbed their way through DIY SOS tonight? ! !!

SilverSky · 28/04/2010 21:47

Oh Elsa - its you that is in Bucks, and there I was stalking contacting Tyson.

Tyson86 · 28/04/2010 21:50
