Evening all - am guessing most of you will be off to bed by now and hoping none of you are working like I still am
Thanks for sympathies and for reading my epic. At least DD is not currently ill and she seems to have been cutting about 4 teeth (bless her) without much grumbling about that. One is coming through not in consecutive order (i.e. top 4 are through, then on her left hand gum, she has a space and then the next one coming through) - has anyone else had this - assume it is nothing to worry about?
So, second night of attempt at getting her to self-settle. Last night took 25 mins and I admit that I was doing the leave her for a couple of mins and go in and reassure - if she was really upset I picked her up 'til she calmed down then put her back in her cot and last night on one of those she went relaxed really quickly, so she nearly fell asleep in my arms. Tonight took 45 mins (the book says 2nd night will usually take longer) and she did fall asleep on her own in her cot between reassurances, but is still doing the snuffly sniffs you get when you've been crying (nearly 2 hours after she fell asleep). I veer from feeling really terrible because she was crying and feeling that this really will help her if she can fall asleep without our prompts
Anyway - must finish work.
MMM - sounds like sound advice from Gruff (files it away in small area of brain reserved for behaviour tips). One thing I would add is - is he teething and does he have a sore bottom because of that? When mine do, they are not so keen on a bath because it can make the sore bottom sting and as it's not essential for them to have a bath every night at this age as they don't really get dirty all over, I just miss the bath on nights like that and just do rest of bedtime routine and (although I was very wary of that to start with), it doesn't affect going to bed (here I mostly refer to DS who has never had a problem going to bed!)
Right, sleep well all
Oh, yes - yay for AF Ses and to TTC - how very exciting. Tops look lovely too.
