Evening all - am guessing most of you will be off to bed by now and hoping none of you are working like I still am

Thanks for sympathies and for reading my epic. At least DD is not currently ill and she seems to have been cutting about 4 teeth (bless her) without much grumbling about that. One is coming through not in consecutive order (i.e. top 4 are through, then on her left hand gum, she has a space and then the next one coming through) - has anyone else had this - assume it is nothing to worry about?

So, second night of attempt at getting her to self-settle. Last night took 25 mins and I admit that I was doing the leave her for a couple of mins and go in and reassure - if she was really upset I picked her up 'til she calmed down then put her back in her cot and last night on one of those she went relaxed really quickly, so she nearly fell asleep in my arms. Tonight took 45 mins (the book says 2nd night will usually take longer) and she did fall asleep on her own in her cot between reassurances, but is still doing the snuffly sniffs you get when you've been crying (nearly 2 hours after she fell asleep). I veer from feeling really terrible because she was crying and feeling that this really will help her if she can fall asleep without our prompts

Anyway - must finish work.

MMM - sounds like sound advice from Gruff (files it away in small area of brain reserved for behaviour tips). One thing I would add is - is he teething and does he have a sore bottom because of that? When mine do, they are not so keen on a bath because it can make the sore bottom sting and as it's not essential for them to have a bath every night at this age as they don't really get dirty all over, I just miss the bath on nights like that and just do rest of bedtime routine and (although I was very wary of that to start with), it doesn't affect going to bed (here I mostly refer to DS who has never had a problem going to bed!)

Right, sleep well all

Oh, yes - yay for AF Ses and to TTC - how very exciting. Tops look lovely too.

GruffaloSoldier · 12/05/2010 22:31

Yay Ses - def hold off on the outfit, you just never know! shame about being away when Ov but just make sure you GOF the last opportunity you have before you go and you never know, the little swimmers migth just hang on in there

Star - sorry to not mnetion your problems in last post!(thought Id rambled on enough) good call on the sore bum too!

sorry to hear you are still not getting sleep etc I hope things get better very soon!the key thing with any intervention is to stick at it. you will get there in the end Im sure. its hard but it will be worth it. I have just done a similar thing as we were rocking GC to sleep and didnt want to keep that up. It took about 2 weeks from him screaming when we put him down to now where I shush him when I put him to bed and indicate its bedtime and he now settles himself. hope DD gets the message soon!

GiraffeYoga · 13/05/2010 07:15

Morning

Star- kep going with the self settling, im sure it will work eventually. Very good advice from Gruff as usual on technique (makes mental note to ask Gruff about removing the bottle from the SG at some stage!) Im sorry to hear you were working late - I was also working and saw your post but I'd run out of energy to type by then! I've already worked a full week in 3 days this week - whats that all about!!??

Ses- hurray for AF and road to TTC!!! Im very excited for you. good shopping!

Sorry for short post but i need to prepare for a meeting at 10.30.

Hi everyone else and everyone lurking.

maxxymoosmummy · 13/05/2010 08:28

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 13/05/2010 10:10

dolls house on its way

having a quiet day today

Diege · 13/05/2010 10:11

Hello! U have been reading through but so busy at work these last few days that I am hopelessly lost with all the news! A few things I can remember...
SES, great news on comingoff the wagon, right i time for May ttc-ing. Bad luck on the timing though with your York visit; still, you never know. Swimmers can do amazing things when 'in place' iyswim . Same with dh this month, but managed before, and I think just after, though the opk sticks have been a tad confusing when compared with EWM etc...still, the deed is done for this month I think (cd 16 today)so that's a relief
KAYZ, great to see you back, and wow well done on the weight loss. You have set yourself a big target though - are you in a slimming club or are you just very motivated ? I have a stone to go now but finding it very hard to keep motivated, esp when tired.
KOOKY hi! And great to see you back.
Hello to everyone else I know I've missed: STAR, CANT, MMM, GRUFF, GIRRAFFE, NAT, TINKS. Things should slowm down a bit next week work-wise, so will do better!

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 13/05/2010 15:45

hi

diege - great to hear from you you busy bee

Diege · 13/05/2010 17:59

Hi TINKS! How are things? Did you re-list your chair on e-bay? Had some nice bits delivered from Boden yesterday, including a dress each for dd2 and 3 (the crinkle ones - arrived all rolled up, very odd!).
Just waiting for dd3 and dh to get back. Older dds and ds (and me) fed and watered. Hoping for an early night as have been waking early (2/3am) as I did around this time last month, and not getting back to sleep again. At least I know it's not a 'symptom'!

Kayzr · 13/05/2010 18:16

Diege, I'm just very motivated. Plus I don't eat as much as I should. I'm always getting one of the boys a drink or one of them drops their fork etc so my dinner is cold when I get to eat it. I'm doing a lot more exercise now too.

Going out tonight yay!!!! Going to karaoke but not singing just laughing.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 14/05/2010 07:33

Morning- worst night in a long time last night!

DD2 had me up 5x for feeds (teething) and then at 5am DS was sick. Not got any more sleep since- and to top it off I got less than 4 hours sleep! On top of 2 weeks dire sleep from DD2 with her bloody teething! Only slept well one night out of 14!

I'm tired, moody and upset! And not sure wether to drag DS out today to at least get DD1 to nursery!

tinkhasaspringinherstep · 14/05/2010 11:10

oh no can't poor you!!

hi diege - guess i should relist rocking chair
boden bits sounds cool

hi kay hope u enjoyed last nite

went to mothercare bought dd1 happyland sets and socks, got dd2 foam fairy bath set

Diege · 14/05/2010 12:12

Hello! Bit of breathing space today thank goodness, as 'technically' off work though have already answerd several e-mails. I know I should just leave it, but I think I'll be avoiding a massive in-box Mon morning, but of course they are still loads more in reply to the ones I replied to on the Friday . Think that makes sense?
CANT, that does sound a bad night, esp with the sickness at the end of it. I think I would push on with the nursery, and then try and grab a nap, though realistically I suppose that might not happen.Hope you're feeling ok x
Hi TINKS, yes you could re-list, and perhaps make sure you offer courier service for it? I've also found that a BIN with Best Offer, alongside auction work pretty well.
Raining solidly here which of course makes everything a million times more difficult! DD2 going to a friends after school, but we have dd1's friend in her place...One of those kids whose mum thinks she'll dissolve if she gets a spot of rain on her, so will be a rude awakening the long walk home
Out for the day tomorrow shopping with friend in Liverpool, dh looking after all 4, so really looking forward to that one. Dh is giving me money for my birthday which is in a few week's time and I'm after some new wedges and a maxi-dress, though need a petite length one being a short arse...Should be good anyway, rain or shine!
Hope everyone else is ok

cantmummyhaveabreak · 14/05/2010 15:42

Atfernoon, got DD1 to nursery, DS was very good this morning, not been sick since. I haven't managed a nap tho! But my eye's are stinging! I'm worried about dropping off with all 3 up and about!

DH is getting KFC on his way home as I just can't be doing with cooking!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 14/05/2010 15:53

Diege- the Boden crinkle dress sounds like the crinkle dress we got from uttam London for DD1. Them things still fit her for this summer. We took em to Disney with us but I think she only wore one of the 3 outfits we got from there!

Diege · 14/05/2010 16:48

Sounds like you're coping CANT and the promise of KFC will see you through the next few hours!
Tea time here, then early bed for them I think. Am waiting on dd2 coming back from frineds, then dd1's friend being picked up, then have to try and fit a gof in as, even though cd 17 think I've been having ov pains I have told dh he's back on duty anyway

GiraffeYoga · 14/05/2010 16:51

PMSL. Been lurking but had to post just to LOL at Diege slipping a GOF between DDs friends being collected/ tea/ bed etc

Glad you are having a good "stab" at TTC this month.

GiraffeYoga · 14/05/2010 16:53

didnt mean for "slipping in" to sound so dodgy!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 14/05/2010 17:06

I'm not doing too bad, have an hour before DH is home so not long left!

Diege- have images of you running the kids up to bed then running yourself to bed for a quickie! Haha!

Even tho we're not ttc we've been enjoying a fair amount of GOF's the last few months! Think we've got our spark back even with 3 DC's- maybe GOFing more now than with only 1 or 2DC's!!! It's nice to know we've still got it all! Haha!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 14/05/2010 18:56

Wuhoo! Kids all in bed! I ain't moving mybum till bedtime now... Considering opening a bottle of wine... To drink or not to drink?...

Diege · 14/05/2010 19:13

Drink! I did laugh at you and GIRAFFE with your 'imagery'of my 'movements'...dh not back til later, dds watching BGT on ITV2...starting to panic as it is going to be Late when I get down to it...really fancy just slobbing with pizza and choc instead!

essenceofSES · 14/05/2010 20:59

Evening ladies!

Diege - LOL at your DH being "back on duty" and "slipping in a GOF"

Cant - hope you're enjoying your wine and get a better night tonight.

Hello Tink, Giraffe, Kay and anyone else lurking!

GruffaloSoldier · 14/05/2010 21:42

Evening all,

Diege LOL!!! we had to slip a GOF in yesterday in late morning when GC napping LOL it had to be done as DH was on a late shift!

DH been off today. Been in bed aslepp for last 2.5 hours as awful migraines - quite spectacular with bright blue "silly string" type hallucinations (hard to explain, sorry!)

anyway Im trying desperately to try and get ready for my training weekend tomorrow for this course I am doing. argh trust me to get a migraine the night before

feeling a bit better after sleep but best go as its very much still lurking and have to get journey planned and need to do some revision before bed.

hi gruff good luck preparing

Diege · 15/05/2010 09:44

Morning! Off for my shopping trip soon (v.excited). GRUFF, hope your course goes well and that you are clear headed after your migraine. How horrible, and sounds pretty awful within the 'auras' too (is that what they call it when you 'see' things when you have a migriane attack? I've never had that, touch wood). Good about gof-slipping - sounds like you'll have the swimmers in place - is Sunday ov day for you?
TINKS happy shopping to you too! Hope you get what you want from exchange. I will hopefully be coming back with a maxi dress that doesn;t swamp me nor look like a nighty, and wedges that makes my legs look endless yet that I can walk in .
Hello to everyone else, and hope we all have good weekends
