Hey Wendyb65, welcome - well done and good luck!

moomaa · 16/04/2010 20:10

Good luck Wendy!

We are expecting number 3 and car wise we recently decided to go for a Toyota Verso, which is a 5+2 (2 seats pull up out of the boot). We will use the two extra seats when we have grandparents or kids friends on board. Otherwise, with the seats down it is like a roomy normal car.

We made the upgrade a little while ago as the old car was getting a bit squashed anyway.

added myself.

saw GP who said I was 5.5 weeks and sold me into the Homerton, as the midwives come to the surgery antenatal clinic and it has a fab new birth centre. However, have since read all the threads about how grim the maternity ward is and evil night mw bullying bleeding, sobbing women. Hmmmm.

Oh well, plenty of time to think about that later.

Anyone else hungry and eating more than usual?

RaceyLacey · 16/04/2010 21:29

Oooh, Wendy, another one due on my birthday! Congratulations.

moomaa - We've been looking at the verso, neither of us really want a people carrier, so that looks like the most 'normal' car-like. The only thing putting us off is the tiny bhp. Having looked at the spec it's got less than 90bhp, and a 0-60 of over 13 secs. We both want something with a little bit of poke, plus want something that can get us out of trouble if there's an idiot boy racer or audi/vw driver around. (No offence meant to audi/vw drivers , I'm sure they're all very nice when not behind the wheel of a car ) How quick is it? Or should I say how slow is it?

likethemapples - When I had ds2 xp wsn't able to drive so I had to get a taxi to the mw unit (on my own, taxi driver was lovely, bless her), and then we did also get a taxi home with him.

Hi everyone. I've been lurking for a while but thought I'd finally accept that this is really happening and add myself to the list!

I've been eating nonstop (mostly carbs)trying to keep the nausea away and already have to unbutton my jeans at the end of the day. Prob from the carbs, not being pg.

mrsmiu · 17/04/2010 18:24

hi everyone
had a bit of a wobble today. been really teary and poor DF is being so divine but I just keep getting annoyed with myself for being so emotional when actually i'm really happy! I've had loads of heartburn today and i was still getting weird crampy feelings on my left pelvic area/hip so i rang the epu at st thomas's. spoke to a lovely nurse who put my mind at rest completely. I'd never heard this before but she said that localised cramping/pain on one side is quite common because the ovary that you ovulated from sometimes gets a tiny cyst that takes a little while to clear up. It's amazing how much just talking to someone helps. I'm feeling a hell of a lot less jittery now!
hope you're all enjoying the sun
mxx

Wholelottalove · 17/04/2010 19:25

Welcome wendyb and nymum and congratulations.

mrsmiu sorry you're having a wobbly day. Tis all the pg hormones - I feel all over the place and did with DD too, joyful one minute then really tearful. I think it's a big adjustment mentally anyway to being pregnant without hormones sloshing around so you're bound to feel up and down.

I just remembered reading your post that when I had an early scan last time due to one sided pain, they did find a cyst on my ovary which went away as far as I know. Glad the EPU put your mind at rest.

We've had a crazy day as it was DD's 2nd birthday party so we were madly tidying this morning then house and garden full all afternoon. Thank goodness it stayed lovely. Pretty shattered now I've stopped - I think I was running on adrenaline for most of the day - but hopefully I'll get a lie-in tomorrow

TheChangeSpiral · 17/04/2010 20:04

So far it seems that pregnancy is a bit like a hangover - it's all fine as long as I eat constantly and don't move much.

comtessa · 17/04/2010 23:31

Hello all! I agree with you TheChangeSpiral - hangover feelings! Although at least my boss is sympathetic and has told me to take as many sick days as I need - don't think I'd get that treatment for a hangover... xx

Hello ladies!

I have made one entry to the December 2010 babies list and have just changed over.

8 weeks tomorrow by dates but based on ovulation due 2nd December!

Live in London but am in the USA right now, hoping to make it back on Wednesday as planned because my first GP appointment is that day. However it will depend on the Icelandic volcanic ash situation...

No particular morning sickness for me, YET, but feel very full, very quickly after eating, and constantly have to pee. Getting up in the middle of the night for the past 2 weeks.

Not going to tell work until 12 week scan done.

xx

welcome to all of the new ladies, congratulations.

I've not been well, had a temperature friday night and all day yesterday - swollen glands and terrible muscle aches.

Do you think if I went to my GP, he refer to me EPAU for a scan to make sure baby ok after all that? My temp was 39

There's a perfect spot for you on the list, Littlesnoo. Add yourself when you get a second.

I was hoping that ms might pass me by but it is getting more intense and last night ended in vomiting once and then feeling starved for food so I ate two slices of pizza !

Today was lovely and I was out with two friends enjoying the sunshine. I hope everyone in the UK enjoyed time in the sun or at least had a relaxing one...

I'm finding that my appetite is changing and becoming quite bizarre. I never wanted coca cola before and now it's one of the only things that settles my stomach. Too bad as it's not healthy...

Have a great Sunday night and welcome to new Mum's!

Hello everyone. We've had amazing sunshine today. Sat out in the garden for a bit in just shorts and a strappy top which was lovely. DH took DD out for a while as well so I caught up on a bit of sleep and some writing which was great.

Feeling ok today. My boobs seem to be getting bigger every day. Last time they grew so quickly I had loads of stretch marks underneath - luckily not bumpy ones and they had almot disappeared, but I think they'll be coming back soon at this rate!

Hope everyone has had a nice day and enjoyed the sunshine if it came your way

Morning all, ms really bad this morning, not helped by my 2yo dd waking me up at 6:30. My boobs are absolutely killing me, wouldn't be so bad if they'd actually got bigger [i wish emoticon].

TheBronzeHorseman · 19/04/2010 09:50

Morning all and welcome and a big congratulations to new people!

Wendy, an especially big congratulations to you, it sounds like you have been through the fertility mill. I have everything crossed for you that everything goes well this time round.

heading4home, your Portuguese birth experience sounds like a total nightmare! How dreadful, you poor poor thing. At least you presumably can look forward to a better experience this time round.

In comparison with your ordeal, my Russian birth seems like a walk in the park, although I must say it didn't feel like that at the time. I ended up with an emergency C-section which was quite a frightening experience. They don't let husbands into theatre here and there wasn't anyone up at "my end" of the operating table (as opposed to the "business end") and the surgeons and nurses didn't see fit to tell me anything about what was going on, so I didn't even know when DS was born (they just carted him straight off) or how long the whole thing was going to take, and it was probably the longest 45 minutes of my life! I then got transferred to a dreadful post-op ward where I wasn't allowed to move at all for 24 hours - after which they transferred me to a room on my own with DS and basically told me to get on with it - when I couldn't even stand up straight yet. But never mind, the main thing is we both came out of it alive and healthy!

I had a gynae appointment on Friday (here you see a gynaecologist all the way through your pregnancy instead of a midwife) and she did an internal ultrasound so I was able to see my little bundle of cells on the screen which somehow made it all very real (as if the morning all-day sickness wasn't making it real enough).

TheChangeSpiral · 19/04/2010 10:18

Morning everyone and a big hi & congrats to newcomers!

Had the most splendid day reading in the sunshine yesterday. My ears were treated to a riot of sounds from birds and insects and I was tickled by how much grass looks like the earth's fur.

Symptoms: almost constant nausea, extreme tiredness, spotting, feel cold, have a cold, brain seems to have gone on holiday, hiccups, bloating
Cravings: fruit (especially lemons), yoghurt, , fizzy water
Aversions: mushrooms, potatoes, smell of perfume (never particularly liked it but I can't bear it now), alcohol (useful), chamomile tea (boo)

RaceyLacey & moomaa Especially if you're buying new vehicles bear in mind the new showroom tax and altered VED tax that came in at the beginning of this month. Bascially the idea now is the higher the emissions the higher the tax. Here's an article that explains it:
www.guardian.co.uk/money/2010/apr/17/road-tax-carbon-emissions
