Pjen I have a doppler, bought one years ago with a previous pregnancy, it's one of the ones like the midwives use and I've heard a heartbeat at 11ish weeks iirc (was a long time ago!) and it really gave me some peace of mind. Interested to see what the bumpbands are like.

LittleSnoo · 29/04/2010 17:20

Hi All,

LaylaPink - I'm using an organic body lotion but haven't changed my face cream etc.

pjen - I'm thinking of getting some bump bands, I'll need them at some point but I reckon they'll probably be too big for a month or so.

JodieO · 29/04/2010 17:38

I have a sanctuary body lotion, bath salts and shower oil and they're lovely. I also have some lush things which are gorgeous. I like using palmers cocoa butter as well, it's so nice.

JodieO · 29/04/2010 17:56

I suddenly feel very sick, really nauseous. Sat on the sofa with my slanket and laptop, Dd is at a playdate (my mum is picking her up in about half hour), Ds1 is playing upstairs while dp baths Ds2 so I'm watching some tv and feeling crap. Feeling really crampy too and achy

ebrookm · 29/04/2010 17:58

Hello!

Just wanted to pop by and say that yesterday I bought the sea-bands (for motion and travel sickness). I have used them all day and slept with them on last night and I feel like I can tell a huge difference already.

Still a bit queasy when I smell something unpleasant, but aside from that, I was able to be out all day without heaving and feeling too sick.

Maybe it is psychological, but I think it is really helping!

Those of you who are suffering from morning sickness might want to try it? They do look a bit ridiculous though ...

Also - persnickety yes, that was the self-referral form.

I don't blame you if you go for C&W due to the better food options!

Really happy to hear that the IVF worked duelingfanjo !! Welcome!

ebrookm · 29/04/2010 18:00

jodieO you could try the acupressure point?

If you look at your wrist and then press in the middle of your wrist (three fingers down) - it might help?

Also, there is another acupressure point at the middle of your breast bone - it kind of hurts if you press it too hard, but apparently it tricks your brain into thinking about that rather than your nausea.

Hope that helps.

QueenofDreams · 29/04/2010 18:02

Brook - what are seabands? linky?
Jodie, is that cramping in a worrying way? Hope you're ok!

I'm not having MS as such atm, but my appetite just seems to have switched itself off. Don't really fancy food at all.

JodieO · 29/04/2010 18:07

Ebrookm I've tried seabands for being on the water before and they left huge bruises on my wrists. I'll give those a go, thanks, can't hurt! Hopefully will help, first time feeling sick this pregnancy.

QueenofDreams I'm hoping not, it's been a busy week so maybe just that catching up on me causing achiness etc and the cramping I'm hoping is just ligaments stretching and growing. The epau said if I started bleeding properly or had more pain I can call them back and they'd see me so I'll see if it gets any worse. It's like period pains and going round to my back and low down. Dp has promised me a massage later on, he's really good at them too so I can't wait! Should relax me quite a lot too.

All I've done lately is eat it seems, had such an appetite, not for long if I keep feeling sick though.

QueenofDreams · 29/04/2010 18:11

Hope you stay ok then Jodie. Keeping everything crossed for you
ALthough my mc started with bleeding, the cramping came much later. so hopefully your cramps are just from being too busy. Chill out and put your feet up yeah?

JodieO · 29/04/2010 18:15

Thanks, me too! Definitely going to take it easy tonight. I'm thinking sofa, film, decaff tea and maybe chocolate later, or some cheese mmmm, I do love cheese. How are you this evening?

ebrookm · 29/04/2010 18:15

Here is a link to the sea-bands website:

www.sea-band.com/

I bought mine at boots and asked the pharmacist - they are hard to find in the store.

Sorry they left a bruise JodieO! Probably not the best thing for you.

They do leave an indentation on your wrist if you wear them for hours, but considering the alternative, I don't mind. Shouldn't leave a bruise though. Ouch!

JodieO · 29/04/2010 18:19

I'm wondering if it was the fact I had them on solidly for a day and a half though? I used them when I took the boat from portsmouth to Bilbao and it was a long, rough journey! I wasn't sick though at least. I do bruise reeeallly easily though.

OnlyWantsOne · 29/04/2010 19:18

Aww that's lovely! 9 weeks seems an age away still.

OnlyWantsOne · 29/04/2010 20:00

9 weeks feels like an age, feels like years ago I found out - how are you feeling JodieO

elportodelgato · 29/04/2010 20:06

Hi All, I'm a newbie to the Dec 2010 thread, how are you all doing?

Just got a BFP on Tuesday, I am 5+4 and due on 27 Dec. I've already got a DD (23mo) and she was really late arriving, ended up being induced 10 days late so I'm hoping this one will similarly sit tight and let me get through Xmas and NY with my feet up

How's everyone feeling? I am not being sick but feeling a bit sensitive to smells (mainly the stench of my DH after he's cycled home from work - bleeurgh!) but otherwise OK. Have had a kidney infection which has kind of taken the shine off the good news but I read today that this is really common in early pregnancy, has anyone else had this?

Am now wondering how I am going to get through another 6 weeks or so without telling anyone... oh, and also without drawing attention to my vastly reduced alcohol intake

JodieO · 29/04/2010 20:13

OnlyWantsOne I'm feeling quite crappy and crampy still. Just made tea for me and a hot choc for DD and then she's off to bed and we'll watch a film I think. May ring the epau if I still feel like this tomorrow.

novicemama I've been the opposite, always early, although getting more towards due date. DD was 4 weeks early, DS1 2 weeks and DS2 a few days! Hope your kidney infection clears up soon, doesn't sound good.

OnlyWantsOne · 29/04/2010 20:20

JodieO what do they say at the EPAU when you call? I was totally dismissed by the nurse at the doctors when I phoned (at 7 weeks) to say I had a really high temp and terrible cramps.

She pretty much said that I'd find out either way if I started to bleed, or would find out at 12 week scan, so DP and I paid for a private one last friday,

Sorry you're feeling rubbish, thats no fun x x

OP posts:
JodieO · 29/04/2010 20:26

OnlyWantsOne that's really awful of them to not take you seriously. When I first called they wanted to see me on the same day so I went down to be seen, was examined by the dr internally and had blood taken. They said if my hcg levels were over 1000 then they would scan me. They called me that evening to say they were 1500 and arranged a scan for 2 days later. It's shocking that they treated you that way. They're an early pregnancy assessment unit! It's what they're there for!!

After my scan yesterday they arranged another for 2 weeks and made sure I knew that if I got worse or bled properly etc that I was to call them right away and they'd see me again. They are really lovely and helpful, very sympathetic too.

Hopefully just stretching and growing pains xx

Wholelottalove · 29/04/2010 20:30

Hi all, sorry to those who are feeling sick. I'm feeling pretty sicky as well, but not been sick. Finding it hard to find anything I want to eat though. Had the day off work today just to rest and my sister took DD out for a lot of the day so I just slept. Feel much better, more positive and really glad I saw heartbeat. Also I keep reminding myself I carried DD to term plus 8 and had normal delivery, albeit a v long back labour, so I am sure having odd shaped uterus is nothing to worry about.

I tried those sickness bands last time, but they didn't work for me.

JodieO - Sorry you're having pains, you should ring if you're worried and get checked out. Hope you feel better soon.

OnlyWantsOne · 29/04/2010 20:34

I seem to remember reading when PG with DD that the uterus doesnt "pop out" from behind the pubis bone till 12 weeks?

or some thing like that?

Well I def have a bump and when laying down, can feel the top of my uterus

RaceyLacey · 29/04/2010 20:37

Hiya, just a quicky as I noticed the words acupressure & seabands. SIL suggested them the other day, she said they hadn't worked for her but her mw had reccommended them. All they did for me was cut off the circulation to my hands and gave me spasms in the top of my arms. No let up in the nausea whatsoever. I left them on all day to give them a chance, but I'm taking them back to boots tomorrow.

JodieO · 29/04/2010 21:06

Wholelottalove sorry you're feeling sick. I'm sure you'll be fine with your uterus shape, mine is retroverted but seems to be OK. I had a back labour with ds2 but it was fast, all mine have been fast. I think I will tomorrow if I still feel like this.

OnlyWantsOne I read the same, I think everyone differs though and plus it can happen sooner it subsequent pregnancies. It must be so nice to see a bump

RaceyLacey Similar here, don't blame you for taking them back.

angelsw12 · 29/04/2010 21:34

Hi novicemama, is this your first too?

Sorry everyone is feeling sick

I just had a great 3 days where I didn't feel sick or tired. And all I did was complain that I didn't have symptoms any more. Now it seems to have come back with a venegence as predicted and I have felt unbelievably nauseous all day, tired and headachy.

I have also felt extremely out of breath since the word go, which is a bit of a worry and my asthma seems to have got worse. Is this normal does anyone know?

deepblue · 29/04/2010 22:05

Owo I'm pretty sure I can just feel the top too. I definitely felt it earlier than 12 wks last time and had a larger bump more quickly than my friends. I also felt Dd moving from 14 wks. I asked my Dh today if he thought my tummy looker bigger than normal and he said no. I really hope I don't normally look so fat and bloated!

My MW appt got canceled due to her sickness and I don't think I can make another for 2 weeks. Never mind. I have a day off tomorrow so going to meet a friend for a natter and will be tracking down some Fentimans Ginger so thanks for that recommendation.

I took my 90yo grandma out for the afternoon today and it was like having two toddlers to watch after, bless her. Had a lovely time although had a coffee which always really affects me after being on decaf for 3 years. I now feel a rather odd combination of nauseous and energetic!
