Persnickety I really like the list with where they deliver! excellent idea!

ebrookm do I remember correctly reading somewhere that didn't want St Mary's and was hoping for UCLH? Well, I did the same thing and did all I could to avoid St Mary's and am now with UCLH. had my early scan at UCLH last friday and loved how the staff so far. Finger crossed that MW is nice. Seeing her on May 17th and 12 wk scan on May 24th!

LaylaPink · 28/04/2010 21:55

PS Persnickety just saw your separate EDD thread - sorry! - have posted the above there instead

ebrookm · 28/04/2010 22:02

persnickety - am glad that you had a good experience at QC. I did some research and it seemed to have the most positive reviews. As for the self-referral, it was someone on this thread that told me I could refer myself (was it you PJen?). As I'm originally American, I don't know how the health system works here (although I can guarantee it's not as much of a sh!tshow as the US - especially now). So I self-referred myself and the mw did mention that referring early, helped?

Yes, PJen it was me who was also considering UCLH, but considering I'm west of St. Mary's - it seemed like a bit of a hike and QC would be less travel time. Great to hear you are with UCLH - that is the other one I found great reviews as well. (To be fair, I only researched the 6 hospitals near me). Did you have to book your scan privately? Or did your hos book for you?

I'm full of ?'s! Sorry!

Have a great evening all.

TheChangeSpiral · 28/04/2010 23:09

I bought a couple of 34D bras today (usually 34B). Felt comfortable for the first time in weeks! Got them from a charity shop for a quid each too so no hippy guilt if I grow out of them in a month.

JodieO · 29/04/2010 07:13

Morning all, had my scan yesterday and it went well, saw a gestational sac with a yolk sac inside, all in the right place and size!! They booked me another for 2 weeks time when we will hopefully see the heartbeat. Sooo tired this morning, been up since 6 and the kids weren't even awake, I had a nightmare and couldn't sleep after that.

whatwillsantabring - I'll bear that in mind, thanks. I've never been able to swallow tablets Your colleague sounds awful! Sounds like a really difficult situation with your sister, I've had miscarriages but have no siblings so I'm not sure how the best way to go would be.

I'm really not sure whether to have a homebirth or hospital one, I have to wait and see how my pregnancy goes first as I've been under consultant care every time due to pregnancy problems. Plus it's Christmas and I'll have family over and I don't think I want to be giving birth in front of everyone hehe.

Wholelottalove - Glad everything went well and that you saw the heartbeat, must have been so worrying for you. I have a retroverted uterus which makes it difficult to see anything, can't remember how else it affects me though.

notso - my dp suffers from blood clots, he had a dvt and nearly died a couple of years ago and he's on blood thinning injections every day now He's quite ill at the moment as he has Lupus which is flaring and it's bringing on lots of symptoms too. Sorry to hear about your row with dh, luckily dp is sooo understanding and helpful, I feel so lucky to have met him after abusive ex h.

RaceyLacey · 29/04/2010 09:12

JodieO- glad the scan went well, what good news. I'm exactly the same with dp. He's so understanding & I'm being far more down on myself than he says I should be. He's being so supportive, tells me off when I say I'm rubbish and is just amazing. It's silly ut I still find it quite difficult when he does things for me as xp only had an ulterior motive for things or he would only do things because 'I wasn't good enough'. Unfortunately I still believe all that to a degree but dp is great and gives me cuddles and reassures me so much. I just wish my counselling would hurry up.

emma2617 · 29/04/2010 09:22

Morning ladies!

wholelotta so glad you saw a little galloping heartbeat, I can't wait to see my babas, it makes it all very real! And also very reassuring!

notso my first night went alright, only got 8 members but it is a bank holiday next week so I probably wouldnt have joined the Monday before a bank hol! Hope you're enjoying food optimising!!

I am not doing too bad, seriously stressed though and really worried it is going to be affecting baba, have had feelings in my uterus area which I didn't have with DS but just trying to ignore them as don't have booking appt until 20th May!

On the bright side, DS is back in nursery, he was sick again last night but I have a feeling it may just be his dairy intolerance coming back, he only started on dairy 6 weeks ago! Back to a dairy free diet and hope for the best!

Hope everyone is okay and those lovely little beans are thriving!

Persnickety · 29/04/2010 10:40

ebrookm Is this the self referral form you filled out?

I think C&W also does a self referal form. So I'm considering which I would prefer. I don't really have any complaints about QC, but am thinking C&W woud be a bit easier to get to and also probably has better food nearby (so I han avoid eating any hospital food while I'm there).

I don't think self referrals were around five /six years ago.

Persnickety · 29/04/2010 10:41

sorry, this is the form: Queen Charlotte Self Referral

DuelingFanjo · 29/04/2010 11:29

Hi there. Please can I add myself now I am feeling brave enough.

I found out I was pregnant after IVF (first time lucky) on April 10th. I've been trying for 2 and a half years and had a miscarriage last year so the last couple of weeks have been a bit scary.

Had a scan today and saw a heartbeat so feeling a little more relaxed and have decided to take the plunge and join you all here.

My EDD is 15th December and I am 40 (just) - this will be my first baby.

Persnickety · 29/04/2010 12:07

Congratulations and welcome! And yipee that I'm not the only 40 year old here.

QueenofDreams · 29/04/2010 12:21

Hi DF congratulations! Hoping all goes well for you.
If it helps, my MIL conceived aged 42. Was told she would lose the baby. Her DD is now 4 and perfectly healthy

Persnickety · 29/04/2010 12:32

Your MIL is 46????

QueenofDreams · 29/04/2010 12:35

Well she's 47 this year I think Persnickety.

DuelingFanjo · 29/04/2010 12:53

wow, imagine having a MIL with a small child. That must be weird. My granny was 43 when she had my mum 62 years ago. My MIL is 60!

Were you the only 40 year old here until I came along Persnickety? I don't feel 40 - whatever a 40 year old is supposed to feel like - and because this is my first child I have nothing to compare it to. So far I am feeling ok, no morning sickness or tiredness. I have had some pains in my leg and think it may be my Veins so that'a a bit scary.

QueenofDreams · 29/04/2010 13:05

It was a little weird when I found out actually DF. DP had nver told me about his half-sister, so only found out a few months after we got together. His sisters are opposite extreme in banging on about their sister and sometimes it sounds like they're trying to convince themselves it's all simple instead of acknowledging that the relationship is a little more complicated than that.
All DP's family have had children young, so his great-grandad (MIL's grandad) is still alive. I find that a bit weirder seeing as I don't even have a living grandparent, let alone a great-grandparent!

JodieO · 29/04/2010 13:34

My dp's mum has a 10 year old and a 14 year old (girls) plus him and his older brother. She had quite a gap between them, it's odd at times as my oldest daughter is 8!

QueenofDreams · 29/04/2010 13:40

Yeah jodie I know what you mean. DS was born the day before his auntie's 3rd birthday. They have a great relationship though, and one of DS's first words was her name. DS is as close as she'll ever get to having a real sibling as all hers are grown up.

mumatron · 29/04/2010 14:38

hello all, sorry havent posted much. would take to long to catch up with you individually so will just say welcome to any newcomers and congrats on the scans everyone.

and hello to dueling so glad you had your scan and all was well.

in doing ok, not to sick yet but only 5+2 so plenty of time for it to start. changed my viability scan date to 7th may as i need to start my claxane shots by 7 weeks. anyone else on heparin/claxane? never had to inject myself before so not looking forward to that!

PJen · 29/04/2010 14:39

Girls, I am looking into those bumpbands. Does anyone know if they are any good this early? I want something to allow me to have my pants buttons open. Am worried if these bands are going to be too big even in size 1?!

JodieO · 29/04/2010 15:05

Queenofdreams that sounds nice for your her then and your ds

mumatron I inject dp with his (he's on it for life, he was on tablets but developed some kind of immunity to them so back on injections now) and you would never think I could do it in a million years. I'm terrified of needles and avoid them unless absolutely necessary but I manage to do his fine. He could do it himself but his lupus means his hands shake and the bruises he gets the next day (and last weeks) are horrendous So I do it instead and he doesn't bruise. Could someone do yours for you if you're not keen?

Pjen bumpbands? What have a missed here then? My jeans are open a lot in the house already, I'm only 5+5 but I feel bloated and clothes are tight.

I feel quite crampy today, and my legs really hurt too, my mood today has been awful. I've been swinging from happy to irritable and back again. Knackered still too.

mumatron · 29/04/2010 15:41

jodie dp is going to do it for me, but he works shifts sometimes and i think your supposed to do it same time every day? so might need to do it myself sometimes.

tbh i havent really discussed it much with my cons as we didnt really expect to get pg again so quickly. dont even know how much its going to cost

not sure about the bump band pjen do you mean the expander things yuo attach to your trouser buttons?

do you mean this or these

i made one myself out of a hair elastic last time. works well for the first few weeks when you feel bloated but you aren't actually showing.

JodieO · 29/04/2010 15:47

mumatron I don't think they said that to dp but it's worth asking. Why do you have to pay for it?

PJen · 29/04/2010 16:44

Hi girls I ordered the bumpband (www.bumpband.co.uk/) online and will write a review when it arrives. Yes, I am a shopholic with already tons of maternity clothes, long tops and god knows what...

Now, I read in another threat about a fetal doppler! I am so getting interested about this one! I am currently googling to find out will report later!
