Oh you chatty lot! Taken ages to catch up

Been away for a long week to Wales for our friends wedding. Nightmare journey on friday as the motorway in cardiff was closed so got abit stressfull with a stroppy toddler in the back creating havoc whilst stuck in heavy traffic.
Got roped into helping with decorations on Sat morning and was rushing about making buttonholes, corsages, cake decorating and table decs plus generally trying to calm down a flapping mother of the bride
The day went perfectly, Everyone looked fab and the sun shone. DD looked very cute in her little dress and i think she had just as many pics taken as the bride and groom! I just looked very frumpy with my large bump! DH did an excellent bestman speech too.
DD (21mths) was very well behaved and was still wide awake at 10.30pm I however was shattered so used her as an excuse to sneak off to bed while DH had a drink with his mates.
Came back today (with thankfully better traffic) but definately feeling worse the ware for our busy weekend. Thankfully Baby decided to stay put although the car was loaded with my bag, notes and car seat just in case

BooBoo- Hope you enjoyed your last day and your birthday

ML- Hope your are feeling better soon

re Waters- Mine went an hour after id been induced. I felt a big pressure then heard a pop.Suddenly had the urge to wee so ran off to the loo... realised it wasnt just wee when walking back to my bed it just kept coming and coming! MW didnt believe me at first, untill she realised my bed was saturated!

Sassles - Glad HR have been helpful and that you are getting your interview. Fingers crossed for you

MDM- Glad you enjoyed your last day/morning. Very annoying about the growth scan. Make sure you kick up a fuss on thursday to get seen sooner!
Hope you enjoyed the races

Squirt- Im with the others in just walking around the supermarket does me in.... let alone walking 2 miles to it

SK- When I was induced, I went in at 8, DH was sent home about 11 and told nothing would happen till morning. HOur later waters went and contractions started. I could call him back whenever I wanted. He came back about 4am when things had got abit more painful.I didnt like being alone but was texting him like crazy updating him. IM sure if you have quick labours they will let him stay.. or he could wait in the car instead of going home then coming back again.

PAmlet- Yes, One of DD's new baby books has a pic of mummmy BF baby. DD now pulls up my top, strokes my tummy then lifts it right up to see my boobies saying Milk come out. Not good in public though
Its my DD that says "mummys Big baby tummy"

Forces- Love the FB pics.... What a fab MW taking them for you

Angel- Major nesting!

Hollyoaks- Welcome to daisy

Acid reflux is here again with avengence
Now the wedding is over baby now gets the green light....37 weeks on tuesday so ready when you are baby!

sweetkitty · 25/04/2010 18:09

hey pigley was thinking about you today glad everything went well and will love to see some pics of DD.

I don't think DD3 can remember BFing either she was 13 months when we stopped. The big two remember and keep going on about my boobs getting full of milk, they are fascinated by the big bumps around my nipples (cannot remember the medical name for them).

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 25/04/2010 18:15

Cupcakefairy - I was hoping I wasn't going to get obsessed with watching for labour signs this time but I am Just want it to be over so I can get settled into life with two!

Angel - I haven't tried Rugdoctor but we rent one every now and then from the tool hire (conveniently opposite us) and it's wonderful.

SK - yeah, people are just being nice but it can be really wearing. The obsession with gender always really annoys me anyway, some of my family are obsessed with the idea that everyone wants one of each and no more

Hollyoaks - welcome to Daisy Hope your DD is feeling better soon.

Pigley - glad the wedding went well, sounds like a lovely weekend.

rachelfruitloop · 25/04/2010 20:31

Evening all!

Welcome home Pigley sounds like you've earned yourself a good long rest, hope you sleep well tonight!

SK I love your Tshirt idea, I could use one of those as well! But just as the general public is with reading travel information at my job, I'm sure they'd still want to ask to confirm or just won't read!

Angel I've been quite proud of myself that I've been scrubbing the front of one kitchen cabinet door per day, you are truly amazing! I've not finished DS's curtains yet, but making good progress. I have the blackout fabric sewn on the back and now just need to stitch the ribbon across the top for the hooks to go in for hanging. Then it's on to the curtains for the nursery!

Pamelat I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday, good luck! My DS is 3 on 3rd June, I stopped BF him when he was 13 months, yet in casual conversation with me, he slips his hand down my cleavage up to the wrist and will just sit there like that chatting about Peter Pan or something! I think it's the novelty of mummy actually HAVING cleavage that might be part of the allure!

I am also all for staying on the ante natal thread until the babies all arrive! Though it looks like we're going to need a new one soon!

Hollyoaks it sounds like Daisy the rabbit is well-behaved so that's good! My housemate had a rabbit when I was young and it was a total nightmare!

Forces your photos on the FB group are fantastic! She is lovely and the pic of you and your girls is so sweet!

My sympathy to all feeling sick! That's no fun!

TMI, but I'm debating about getting waxed down there in the next week or two in preparation for being "on show" ... I didn't last time, it was a jungle down there! Though I didn't care one bit about it, I was thinking it might give me a little boost. I've not been waxed for a couple of years though, maybe I'm just asking for unnecessary irritation? Can't decide! Anyone else thinking about it?

I'm happy to report that there is no sign of mice in the house now! Hooray! I'm 37 weeks today, strange to think that it really could be any day now! I wonder who will be next?

Gils · 25/04/2010 21:35

Hi girls, hope you have all enjoyed your weekend.

Forces will need to check up on your photos. Glad you stood up to hospital staff, I am bit of a weakling and never tend to do that, must try harder!

Angel - well done with nesting. I have days where I coldn't possibly do anymore then others where I do nothing!

Pigley - glad you enjoyed your weekend. Sounds a very busy trip for you but sounds like DD enjoyed herself.

I'll join with the braxton hicks, nausea backache etc. Feeling very fed up now

Wish I could have got one of those T shirts made up for this weekend. Had niece 5th bday on Sat and nephew christening today. Could have hooked the next person who asked when are you due? Do you know what you are having? Everyone means well but hard to keep smiling.

It has been knackering weekend, DH is shattered ater running about after DD. She loves her cousins so much and was in her element.

Love my cuddles from nephew, has his own special "Ben seat" just props up on top of bump. Was born just before Xmas, hard to believe he'll be a big cousin in matter of days/weeks.

Best be of, supposed to be catching up on lost, can't be bothered.

Hope everyone keeps well an looking forward to more announcements

brightredballoon · 25/04/2010 21:45

SK thanks for the duck/swan location advice! I will definitely take the kids down there next week (or at least DH will if I don't get round to it before baby arrives). Feel so guilty always promising DS to see ducks and never delivering. Yes I am at the same hospital as you are but I would imagine (all things being well) that I will be out before you go in for induction.

Rachel whenever I come back on this thread I am half expecting to read another birth announcement. I can't believe that such a huge list of due in May ladies are still carrying the babies, usually there are a good few that go quite early.

I felled the jungle that was growing on my legs earlier, I meant to book in for a wax so I had let them grow, grow grow but then looking when i phoned to book I couldn't get a suitably timed appointment this week. I am glad I got my hair done though so at least I have some fresh colour and a good cut.

angel good on you getting all of those things done!

cupcakefairy · 25/04/2010 21:50

rachel I'm definitely going to go for a wax in the next couple of weeks. I've always done it myself but can't see a thing down there at the mo! Everyone says I won't care but I just want to know there's one less thing I can be stressed about during the labour!
No idea if it would irritate though if you haven't done it for a while maybe go in and ask them to do a test patch??

heffa I kind of want it over and kind of don't! All the anticipation of not knowing what it's going to be like is driving me slightly mad and would rather it just happened but at the same time I'm like nooo stay in!

Welcome back pigley- you poor thing getting stuck in that traffic it was horrendous wasn't it? (We live in Cardiff, whole city was gridlocked all day cos there was a fatality on M4 ) glad wedding was lovely though and well done baby for staying put!

Hi littleonemum not long to go!!

angel I'm also v of your 6lbs...I'm more like 2 stone too SK though haven't weighed myself in a few weeks as we don't have scales so only brave it at my parents' house!

Den26 · 25/04/2010 22:17

Hi All, hope everyone 's had lovely weekends.

still struggling to keep up - hoping that after my last day at work on wed i will be better at keeping up and replying personally!!

MDM - try not to worry about growth scan, like the others i hear that the measurments aren't very reliable, if you are concerned speak with MW.

Pigley - glad to hear wedding was great and 'uneventful' for you. we're off down south on wed for our friends wedding. packed hospital bag today in preparation. hoping that if i'm organised nothing will happen early!

sassles - glad you have something sorted re interview - all sounded very unfair. Sounds like your ready to put up a fight - good for you! good luck when it comes.

not much happening here - 3 days at work left Had hair cut and coloured yesterday for wedding this weekend, hoping colour lasts for baby pics at end of month too.

off to have some nutricious coco pops before bed ;)

memorylapse · 25/04/2010 22:47

Evening all

feeling much better here..home yesterday..anti biotics kicked in, boobs almost normal..baby feeding happily...happy mum..bliss.

I keep checking in excitedly in the hope of another impending arrival..wonder who will be next??

Ive had my hair cut today and dyed it again at long last so I feel human again..next stop..clothes shopping

Forces I love your c section pics

to all you ladies experiencing nausea/cramps etc..whilst I was in waiting to be induced I had lots of cramps, nausea etc and loads of jelly mucous plug..the MW's said it was like a latent labour phase..but it can last 2-3 weeks!..tis all good though as the tightnings are probably thinning out the cervix etc...

also to anyone unsure if their waters had gone..with all of mine they went with a gush so I worried I wouldnt know if if mine went but a slower loss..well after my waters were popped..I kept leaking on and off and when I went to the toilet and wiped there was no mistaking the amniotic fluid on the loo paper..its kind of gungy, clear and has a weird sterile smell..hard to describe..but I assumed it would have the consistency of normal water..but its slightly thicker.

Gils · 26/04/2010 06:54

ML, glad to hear you are back home. Very jealous of haircut and clothes shopping. Desp need mine done but thought of going just doesn't do anything for me. Would love a massage though!!

I was very busy last night, felt that last night could have possibly been "the" night. Think it was just wishful thinking as DH is home. Glad it wasn't been up since 2 this morning. DH is down with sickness & d. You know what I mean, always spell that word wrong. Hoping its something he has eat and not a bug. Needless to say my nausea gets worse everytime I hear him running back and forward. How I wish we had more than 1 toilet

So tired this morning DD up with her colouring pencils and lots of cartoons!!

What I would give for a sleep!!!!

sweetkitty · 26/04/2010 06:57

Morning all, up at 6am couldn't get back to sleep, only up twice in the night for the toilet as well so not a bad sleep. Just doing my usual waiting for the painkillers to kick in before I can do anything. Feel so bad taking them but it's only for another week or so now.

ML - am so happy you are feeling better and Olivia is feeding well, oh the noctural stage, they have to be gently coaxed into knowing day from night don't they? It's funny what you say about the latent labour thing, I think I am going through it as well, BHs, tightenings, sharps shooting pains, baby bouncing off my cervix etc it is meant to get worse with each pregnancy as well probably as your cervix gets less strong IYSWIM.

Den - on starting maternity leave this week

cupcake - I know how you feel it's a swing between "get this baby out NOW" and "oh no I am SO not ready it can stay in forever" I just want him out now so I can see he is OK nad both of us back at home with everyone else.

brightred - yes you will be probably all done and dusted by the time I get there, we will have to keep and touch and maybe arrange a meet up down the park with the newborns in the Summer. Have you ever been to Tollcross Park? It's about 2 mins from the bottom of the M74 motorway on the road to Parkhead. It's a great park and has a free little farm park with ducks, peacocks, pigs, goats, rabbits, chickens etc, we often go on a Sunday afternoon it's about 15 mins from here.

rachel - I have almost given up on the trimming downstairs as well. I remember with DD2 being booked in for a wax on the Friday, of course she was born on the Tuesday so had to cancel but I remember when my waters went going for a shower to defuzz before I went into hospital, I thought it was important lol

Not looking forward to the jelly belly afterwards though, it kind of freaks me out just after when it is still big but soft I cannot even touch it. And I don't even look at my undercarriage. Still it is worth it just as well.

Right on my own today so got to get everyone up and ready, even getting dressed is hard work these days, the other day DD1 put my socks on for me.

OP posts:
TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 26/04/2010 07:41

Gils - hope your DH is feeling better soon

SK - I hate the jelly belly afterwards, it was a real shock last time. Not sure what I was expecting.

ML - thanks for info about the waters, it's good to know what to look for.

Rachel - I was thinking of trying to at least trim. I can still just about do my legs, not sure I could reach anywhere else.

Hoping we'll have some new announcements soon!

memorylapse · 26/04/2010 07:53

morning all..had the worst night with Olivia..she was awake from 11-3 am in which time she fed 3 times..I think the anti biotics are irritating her...she finally went down at 3 am..but was awake again at 5..I let DH get up to her that time and slept till seven..but I feel horrific this morning!!!

the day before I was induced I trimmed my lady garden as it seemed to be brushing against my knees!...I couldnt see what I was doing so wildly snipped away in the shower quite blindly until it felt ok..lol..however when I told the MW I needed to push and she looked and said she could see loads of dark hair (when I was in labour) I remember fleetingly wondering if she was referring to my lady garden

Off to the hospital this morning for my review..fingers crossed they will be happy that things are improving

Hollyoaks · 26/04/2010 07:54

Morning all

Pigley - glad the wedding went well and lo stayed put. Your dd looks gorgeous on the fb pics, lovely dress and you don't look frumpy at all

Booboo - happy belated birthday, I knew I'd missed something.

Rachel - I haven't decided whether to book in for a wax or not. I did with dd but tbh either the girl didn't or couldn't do a good job due to my bump but they weren't as neat as usual (and I don't get a Brazilian or anything) so dh had to help me neaten up anyway. Oh, when it came to it as well, my mother, mw's (one of whom was my neighbour at the time), drs and the scbu team all saw down there and I couldn't of cared less.

Ml - hope your getting some sleep :0

SK - hope you get a break when the older ones get to school and the painkillers kick in soon.

Waters - mine were broken at 9cm, felt like I'd wet myself but never saw them and don't know if they all went at once or continued to leak.

Gils - hope your dh feels better soon and you don't catch it.

Den - you must be relieved to be going on ml this week. Coco pops are part of a healthy pg diet, I have them every morning

Well, off to get breakfast sorted and then dd ready as dsis and bil are taking her out for the morning to give me a break. In truth I'll get the last bit of washing out, have a shower and then complete some marking . Mustn't forget to feed the rabbit either

Hollyoaks · 26/04/2010 07:56

Cross post ML - sorry you didn't get any sleep. Try to catch up during the day if that's possible with 5 dc.

alle01 · 26/04/2010 08:01

morning all
sorry but not personals today, just a bit of a moan.
being contracting since saturday midnight, not stop yet, been in the hospital last night, finally send me home at midnight because cervix is not even down enough, despise contraction of a minute every two- three minutes, apparently needs to be lots more painful, so still waiting after a wooping 28 hours, can't sleep, neither dh, poor thing went back to work today, as nothing really happening, mw in hospital says this time it looks like it, but it can take very long, if this time is not it, i'll get a c-sec, i promise, looks like i'm gonna be in labour for ever, this baby just don't want to come out.
hope you all getting a better day, won't moan any more...

Hollyoaks · 26/04/2010 08:10

Just a quick link to a useful thread for those on their second dc and wondering how they will cope with two link

Alle - sorry your having a tough time, hopefully things will kick off soon, but think this time next week you'll more than likely have your lo at home with you and it will all be over. Good luck.

lizzie9442 · 26/04/2010 09:02

morning everyone, sorry not been around much.

Congratualtions to all the new arrivals!

My due date is one week today and this is now the longest I've ever been pregnant. My first son was 6 weeks early. My second son was 8 days early and my daughter was 8 days early. In my head I thought I would of have it by yesterday so now feeling slightly stressed that not gone into labour. My spd is so bad and I am really worried about how big the baby is. I was in hospital at just under 36 weeks and they estimated the baby to be 7 pounds so it has to be at least 9 by now. I'm just constantly looking for signs of going into labour but nothing Sorry for the moan and good luck to everyone xx

sweetkitty · 26/04/2010 09:25

Oh we are all full of aches and pains

alle - hope this is it for you and it all kicks off soon

lizzie - apparently it hets easier each time and it's not always a spot on 1/2lb weight gain every week, they are supposed to slow down in the last few weeks as they run out of room, try not to stress too much, I bet you don't have an 11lb whopper.

ML - the first few weeks are hell aren't they? All you can do is feed them and survive it any way you can. Hopefully you can get some rest today, is your DP on paternity leave still?

OP posts:
alle01 · 26/04/2010 10:13

thank u all for the support, contractions have subside and i'm only in mild discomfort, this baby is determined to stay put, my aunt says tuesday will be the day, it's full moon and apparently the first day of full moon maternity ward gets full, she is a nurse.

hormonalmum · 26/04/2010 10:14

Just a quick check in, not had chance to read all messages so not lots of personals.

Alle - sounds like you are getting fed up and I don't blame you. I am not sure of your due date but you cannot have too long to go?

Lizzie - I am also due a week today - dd was few days early and ds few days late so I am wondering if this one will be on due date.

Ml - glad that you got sorted with the antibiotics but not so good on the nights sleep. It is hard I remember - the days and nights used to both last forever and tiredness was like a wall I had to climb to do anything. As you know, it does get better.

Sk - I too think I am in latent phase.

Hollyoaks - enjoy your morning and your rest!

The way I have been feeling lately I think I could have this baby any day. My latest complaint (as well as nausea, cramps and nerve pain) is backache. Yesterday I must have had a dozen hot water bottles and then a red hot bath to try and ease the pain.
On top of all that, ds is teething and sleeping badly. Lovely dh got up with him twice in the night so the night wasn't as bad as I feared.

alle01 · 26/04/2010 10:22

my due date is thursday, but i had 'latent stage' on wednesday and then again last 30 hours, i am fed up, and tempted to change my mind, don't wanna get pregnant now (or not any more, whatever is more plausible)

littlepea72 · 26/04/2010 12:05

Hi sorry to gate-crash!! Forces just wanted to say congrats!!!!! So happy everything went well for you xxx

rachelfruitloop · 26/04/2010 12:41

Hi Ladies,

Going to join the grumpy morning club, DS is poorly, up every 2 hours last night and I was up with him as DH had to get up at 4.30 this morning for his early shift. DS is struggling to breathe properly, coughing and wheezing. I think he's developing asthma (like his father and my brother had in childhood) but was told last year by the GP that they won't diagnose it such young children. He's just been sick all over his bed and I only have 1 set of sheets for his big boy bed! Been meaning to buy more ...

Gils sorry to hear that your DH is ill, it's horrible to have sickness around you in this condition especially!

Alle my BF in RL had a similar situation with her labour last time around and it was utter hell for her. I really feel for you! They ended up inducing her after 4 days of labour. I hope that your LO comes soon!

Lizzie I also feel your worry about the size the baby might be if it goes later (Mine was also estimated at 7 lbs a few weeks ago). My DS was 2 weeks late so irrationally I'm expecting that this one will be late as well. If it comes early or on time I'll be shocked! Just got a text from my BF that she dreamed that I went into labour early. Oddly, I think I'm ok with going a bit longer. Last time around I was really fed up at this point and went another 5 weeks!

Hormonalmum I am with you with the backache! I can barely walk up and down the stairs, and my leg keeps going numb from the stupid sciatic nerve pinch! Very uncomfortable! Poor you coping with a teething LO as well!

ML sounds like you had one of those nights!!!! Hope you're able to rest today! LOL about the midwife saying she could see loads of dark hair! Glad the ABs helped and you're feeling better!

Well done BRB and Den for having your hair done! I'm thinking I could really use a cut, but will probably wait until after though I'm sure when I see myself in the newborn photos I will regret it!

Thanks for everyone's comments about waxing, trimming, etc. Hollyoaks I'm also concerned I may have to rope DH in to tidy a poor wax job, so maybe just cut to the chase and save some money. Heffa I was considering trimming myself as well, but without being able to see a thing down there, I fear it will end up looking like someone was drunk with a lawnmower! Guess I could compromise and ask DH if he could help me trim. Not sure what his reaction will be! Could be fun to test him!

Just got back from taking DS to GP and she's prescribed him some steroid tablets and an inhaler with a paediatric mask, so hopefully it will improve his breathing soon! I was looking forward to a nice nap today whilst he's at pre-school, but maybe an extra cup of tea will just have to see me through today as he's too poorly to go.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there!!

alle01 · 26/04/2010 12:57

rachel, thanks for the thoughs, i'm calming down now, contractions had relax but coming back now, i don't know what to think, just go with the flow.
sorry to hear about your ds, i had asthma all my life too, running in the family as well, my mum went nuts when i was little, i don't know if it will help, but for me the important thing was to get into a routine, that way you will learn to control it until ds is old enough to do it himself, i have a very severe condition but still manage to be symptom free most of the time,... how old is he?, maybe you can find a parents support group, at least to moan about it with someone who will know exactly what it feels like...
