Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hormonalmum · 19/04/2010 22:04

Just popping back in before I go and have a soak in the bath.
Lovely birth story - ML.

Can't believe some of you have exams coming up. Good luck to you. I am nervous about making plans for this week never mind for sitting an exam at week 39!

Sassles - I am not sure about your mattress issue. I was trying to recall what we did and I cannot remember at all.

Tomlin - perhaps you will be next!

I am 38 weeks today and have been getting some pains which I can liken to very early labour pains. I know that they can happen for ages beforehand, so we will see when lo decides to put in an appearance.

I have used re-usables in the day for my dc and disposables overnight and when at nursery. It has been hard at times I must admit, especially when I was searching for the right disposable choice for my family.

schipo · 19/04/2010 22:04

feeling chatty tonight:

meant to say also that my bump is measuring 40-42" depending on time of day. I caught sight of myself in a full length mirror the other day and thought it looked like I'd swallowed an inflated beachball. I said that to a friend who I hadn't seen for months and she said it looked more like a pilates ball!

Also, Rachel - thanks for cbeeebies blocks link - that's a whole new world for me - not for much longer though I guess. Schipo is short for a place in germany to me. It's where I was when I had first evidence of pregnancy (implantation pains). I'm not very creative when it comes to choosing usernames

kateyjane · 19/04/2010 22:16

Ooops sorry! Am behind again.

ML - Olivia is beautiful and I loved reading your birth story. I hope my induction is similar.

Angel - Hope you are okay! You need to take it easy. A cup of tea, lovely cake and you feet up are my prescriptionn for you

SK - Hope you are managing the school run okay. I can sympathise (although don't have the SPD to contend with) now I am officially on ML my DS has 3 hours a day free nursery, just feel like I am spending the whole day in the car dropping off and picking up my DCs

Itshappened and Pamelat - Good luck! You are very brave. Hope your exams go really well.

Re nappies - I completely agree with SK. In my experience only pampers can handle newborn poo , then I tend to use Boots or supermarket own brands - have never got on very well with Huggies for some reason. This time I've bought a few different reusables to give them a go, but we shall see

Was it littleowls and newmomma who were going in tomorrow - really sorry if I've got it wrong. If not Good luck, hope all goes well and will be thinking about you.

Hope that the two breech babies have decided to turn or be turned

Take care - especially everyone feeling rough or having labour scares.

Hollyoaks · 19/04/2010 22:19

Late post from me. Just had a relaxing soak in the bath as back was aching

Pamelat - good luck for your hospital appointment tomorrow, hope all goes well.

Pigley/Tomlin - mw said baby was 3/5ths engaged today, only 34 weeks. Is that a sign I could go early? Hope not, still got 4 weeks left at work .

Doubt anyone is interested but NUFC have just won the Championship Its a very big deal to everyone North of the Tyne.

Hope we all have restful nights, I'll be happy with just the one toilet trip.

brightredballoon · 19/04/2010 23:07

Evening ladies
Far too late for me to reply to people just wanted to say good luck to all those with important things on this week.

Also, Asda have a baby event starting tomorrow for a week, lots of bargains on nappies/equipment etc so might be worth a look

I am off to bed, night all

littleowls · 19/04/2010 23:09

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to ML, Forces and LuckyC.

I have just had a quick catch up with the thread. It seems like I missed a bit of action!

But not so much as I was busy on Friday having a baby of my own!

Joel was born 2.40pm 16.4.10 (38+1) weighing only 4lb 8oz by emergency CS, he's now in the SCBU getting blood sugar stabilised. I decided to take the plunge and went home tonight, it was heart wrenching. I am still over the moon and am now just concentrating on getting him strong enough to bring home.

I will catch up more now I'm back home. Everyone else, take care x

Congratulations Littleowl

I hope Joel is doing really well in SCBU and will be home with you very soon. Hope you are recovering well. Take care

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 20/04/2010 07:31

Congratulations Littleowl. Hope baby Joel is out and with you at home soon.

Tomlin, all my subsequent babies engaged early, might just be the way some of us are built.
Saw midwife last week, baby no 5 was 4/5 at 36 wks & is definitely lower now, makes life uncomfortable, but unfortunately doesn't mean birth is imminent. Sorry.

Hollyoaks · 20/04/2010 07:32

Morning

Littleowls - congratulations, hope both you and Joel are well . Our first boy. Take things easy.

Hope everyone sleeps better than I did last night Me and dd up most of the night, she was restless and I just needed to wee lots and lots.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 20/04/2010 07:52

Congratulations Littleowl Hope you're both well and he's home with you soon.

Good luck for all hospital appointments today, hope they go well and breech babies have turned.

rachelfruitloop · 20/04/2010 08:11

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick post to say congratulations to Littleowls, hope Joel gets to come home soon, too! Love the name!

Good luck to all today going in for breech babies and other appointments, and will also be watching the thread closely for any new arrivals!

Will post again later, but wanted to say that with my DS he was engaged 2 or 3/5 at 34 weeks, midwife said to me that I wouldn't make it to the due date. He was 2 weeks overdue!! It really got my expectations set that he'd be early when she'd said that, so going overdue was torture! This time around I am going to take anything the MW tells me with a grain of salt, I don't think it's really an indication!

Gils · 20/04/2010 08:16

Congrats Littleowls, hope you get Joel home soon.

Love the birth story and pics ML

LuckyC and Forces, hope babies are settling in nicely

Can't believe volumes of posts since yest morning, struggling to keep up. 6 pages!!

Hoping exams go well, babies are turned, mattresses are bought, rats away.

DH back to work today, so here on commences 4 days of panicing at every movement.
Had a lot of pains last night and thought things were kicking of. Didn't say anything to DH, had this with DD and still went 11 days late.

DN 5th bday today, so breakie then up to see her when she finishes nursery. She is having a party on Sat at local soft play and on Sunday its my nephew christening - busy weekend.

Will catch up properly on Wed, DD in nursery, will be first mummy day ever but already have long to do list.

Hope all are well.

booboomonster · 20/04/2010 08:17

Just a quickie to say congratulations littleowls! Well done!

Hobnobfanatic · 20/04/2010 08:33

Well, strangely I had a dream that DorotheaP had a baby last night! God knows why! Actually, it's probably because you're one day ahead on the list, so once you sprog, it feels like it's my turn! I'm getting a bit worried about how the people before me are graduating... I really must get my ahead around this whole 'giving birth' thing!

I'm so pleased to hear that you have your own little owl, Littleowl. Joel is a lovely name and I hope you can get him home soon. Massive congratulations.

pigleychez · 20/04/2010 09:10

Congratulations LittleOwls.

Hope you are well and that little Joel is home with you soon

Rachel- I had the same with DD. She was engaged early and told she would prob arrive early but was 2 weeks late. It was a killer!

Hope the positioning scans go well today and those bubba have turned. Hope any EVCS go OK too if they happen.

Off to Toddler group this morning with DD before starting to organise bits for our weekend away. Looks like another nice afternoon in the garden whilst waiting for my parents Ferry to get into the UK.

mustbemadno3 · 20/04/2010 09:12

congratulations littleowls soo little! Hope he comes home soon.
Congratulations to everyone else with their new babies. Lovely birth story ml

Cant believe they are arriving already, I keep thinking Ive got ages!
I am sick of people asking if Im having twins and because Im so low people are assuming its going to arrive early! Babies come when there ready and although Im very uncomfortable and would like to have baby sooner rather than later, I bet this one will be late!!

Had a good wedding on Friday in the cotswolds although by the end of the evening my feet were like elephants had to take shoes off. Still swollen now. But see mw thursday so be glad to see her.

Sorry not many personals but my internet is so rubbish, I posted last nite and lost it, so have to be quick!!!

Carikube · 20/04/2010 09:24

Many congratulations littleowls and really hope that Joel gets to come home soon and that you get to make a speedy recovery.

Having these babies start to arrive is a bit freaky as it does make me wonder how much longer we've all got. I know what you mean Hobnob as will probably really start to freak as soon as I see the other May 14th babies starting to arrive... This LO isn't engaged, just 'bobbing about the brim' as the MW put it but as it is number 2 I don't suppoes it's any indication at all as to when it is likely to turn up.

Hope everyone has a good day and good luck to those with appointments etc...

memorylapse · 20/04/2010 09:44

congrats Littleowls..hope Joel is home soon

Olivia had engaged from 33 weeks..but sadly it did not mean she was going to arrive early..they needed rocket fuel to get her out!

I cant beleive that the babies are arriving now..it seems not that long since I tentatively posted on the thread after getting my BFP

heres to more new arrivals, mattresses, breech babies turning the right way..no rats..annoying in laws and no overdoing decorating

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 20/04/2010 10:21

Quick post, as I'm at work. Really struggling with a heavy cold this week, the last thing I need when trying to get everything finished up before going on mat leave on Friday. My boss came in yesterday and tried to get me to go home early - stopped just short of saying I looked dreadful, but did say he was worried about me! Am fine apart from the bloody cold though.

Congratulations littleowls. I hope Joel's doing well in SCBU and you're able to take him home soon.

Sassles - John Lewis have a moses basket mattress in stock online 66cm x 26cm for £12 here.

Hope all the other new arrivals are doing well.

Pigley - glad your parents look like they're going to make it back ok. My poor room-mate at work was meant to be flying to Las Vegas yesterday with her boyfriend to celebrate her 30th birthday, but they were grounded by the ash cloud.

BRB - thanks for Asda tip!

Pamelat and Ithappenedagain - good luck with the exams, I haven't done a proper exam for about 8 years (unless you count a helicopter underwater escape training test or scuba diving qualification), and I wouldn't like to have to do one now. Am doing a pub quiz tonight though, as long as this cold hasn't finished me off before then.

Sorry not to make more personal comments. Hope everyone has a good day, and will check in from time to time to see if we get any more birth announcements!

brightredballoon · 20/04/2010 11:37

Congratulations Littleowls hope Joel gets stronger soon and is home before you know it.

I am 38+3 today, I really can't believe the birth is so near. My ELCS date is next week but the last couple of days I have been having some really uncomfortable tightenings and I do think my baby keeps bobbing into a partially engaged position then out again, certainly stops me in my tracks when it happens.

Hope everyone is enjoying this nice weather, my Mum was on the phone saying there's talk of more snow?! PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!!

alle01 · 20/04/2010 11:42

congratulations to littleowls and joel, surely you will be both home soon,...
enjoying the nice weather, although i have so many bh and tightenings and quite a bit of spd, that i do not dare venture very far from the house by myself,...
i had mw yesterday, and she is not gonna see me again until i am 40 weeks and 6 days, if it gets that far she'll do a membrane swap?, i think i'll be asking for an induction by then, hope i don't see her again, cos i had my baby obviously. i can't believe i was one of the earliest due, the 29 of april (moved from the first of may), and people are having babies before me.... so envious

Hollyoaks · 20/04/2010 11:44

Ok, I need some advice from those who have potty trained. Tried dd out of nappies two weeks ago at the start of the Easter holidays and although physically she is ready in terms of being able to hold it and let us know when she needs to go, she refused to sit on the potty and became stressed when we sat her on it. So, we went back to nappies for all of our sanity only for dd to start taking it off and sitting on the potty willingly. She hasn't actually gone on the potty but this morning had a fit when I put a new nappy on her and was screaming for her pants.

So, do we give potty training another go baring in mind I'm back at work and she gets looked after by three different family members and a cm and that I only have 6 weeks left before lo arrives or do we persuade her to stay in nappies?

Tried her in pullups as a go-between but she just uses them as nappies. Any suggestions greatly appreciated, sorry for the long me post.

TomlinTowers · 20/04/2010 11:45

Just a quick one before I go and pick DS1 up from playschool..

Many congrats Littleowls that is lovely news. Hope Joel is doing well in SCBU and the staff are looking after you all. I'm sure he'll be home soon.

Schipo - I used the Little Lambs nappies, as they were what was on offer through my local council. They are the preformed nappies.

I agree with all the comments about babies being engaged. DS1 was engaged from 32 weeks and arrived at 39+5. This one will come when she's cooked. Still a bit shocking to realise that could easily be next week, however! Just need to get used to the idea....

Pigley - glad your parents are due home soon. This travel thing is a nightmare. One of DS1's playgroup leaders is due to get married abroad this Friday, and so far has no idea whether either they will be able to travel, or their guests. She has fairly elderly parents, so they can't go on the ferry and have to fly, so she is really worried that she'll end up getting married with no guests, no family, and possibly still in England! It all seems so unfair, when you've spent ages planning for something and then everything is thrown into chaos by something that you can do nothing about.

Good luck to everyone with exams - I take my hat off to you all. I haven't sat an exam for about 8 years, and whereas I used to rattle off essays in the past, I don't think I could even write an opening paragraph now! Let us know when you pass!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 20/04/2010 11:47

Congrats littleowl, bet that was a shock! hope you're both recovering well and he can come home with you soon.

I managed to make a tit of myself at a mums and toddler group yesterday, was talking to someone about the pregnancy, she encouragingly said "you never know, you might pop early" and I got my words all jumbled up and said "Oh no thanks, I don't want it!" and the woman looked a bit then somebody called her away, so now there's a woman walking round thinking I don't want my (planned) baby, when I meant I don't want to give birth! lol

Anyone going to be using a maternity tens for use in labour? I'm considering getting one as I know a couple of people who have said they're really helpful.
