No twins for me!!

Scan went well. Baby was happy and kicking and waving but curled up and refused point blank to move to straighten out to be measured. Sooooo they have dated me at 11+1 which means that I am too early for nuchal test. I will be rescanned again in a couple of weeks. Really pleased that baby is ok. AND found out my friend who lives round the corner from me is pregnant as well as my best friend.

MLS sorry to hear your news I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you for Friday and I am sure that the consultant will be able to make more sense of your results.

tiny thinking of you hoping you are okay

No we dont want to find out the sex of the baby I think mainly because this is baby number 3 and we have a boy and a girl already. I really want dh to tell me what the sex of the baby is!! [dreamy smile]

AbFab What is wrong with Pamela Pamlaaa!!

Good luck with the scans coming this week. Thinking of you and hoping for the best!

lilmissmummy · 06/04/2010 22:02

Oooh Seashells totally missed the job conversation - CONGRATULATIONS really pleased for you!

floozie I think we will join NCT too, we have moved 100 odd miles away 2 years ago and I would love to meet people in this area (note to self must remember to register).

AbFabT · 06/04/2010 22:06

I didn't say there was anything wrong with Pamela! I like your spelling more though, yeah!

Glad your scan went well, lilmiss, hope the little scamp behaves for your next one though! And lovely about your two friends too.

And yes - I am thinking how lovely it would be for DH to be the one to announce the gender.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 06/04/2010 22:17

We'll find out the sex- I loved knowing last time, not so keen on surprises!

Thanks for congrats- it's just 8hrs at accessorize, but it gets me out and means I'll get mat allowance before I kick start my vet career again post baby. I will however make a loss each week as I love monsoon and accessorize

lilmiss, fantastic news re scan!

Hermya321 · 06/04/2010 22:47

Oh and well done Seashells!!

tiredfeet · 06/04/2010 23:03

seashells congratulations on the job!! Its great news. Although I agree I too would make a loss working there! Will be a nice place to work though I think.

Sailing was in the Solent, it was perfect weather really and so lovely to be out there again. DH works in the yachting industry so we get to sail on some lovely boats . AbFab you should definitely try sailing, its a lovely sociable sport (although I'm only a fan once the weather gets warmer!). I feel a lot better having had a few normal days. I like the description of looking at sailboats and daydreaming DH does this all the time, and my dad used to spend hours on boat websites before biting the bullet and finally buying a little (cheapish!) yacht of his own, it makes me so happy that he has been able to realise his dream (and that he keeps the boat near us !)

lilmissmummy congratulations on your scan must be lovely to have people nearby at a similar stage to you.

MLS I'm sorry you got worrying results. I don't know anything about them really as I decided not to have the tests, but it looks like you have had some helpful advice from others, and I really hope the consultant is able to answer your questions.

We're still undecided about finding out the sex. I don't mind either way really, although the impatient part of me would probably decide to find out, but I want DH to choose, to help him feel involved. He initially said he did want to find out, but now seems to be dithering. I have a feeling he won't decide until the actual day of the scan...

AbFabT · 06/04/2010 23:21

Ooh, SeaShells, you going to stock up on cute little baby and toddler outfits from Monsoon?!

Yes, tiredfeet, I must! DH and I did spend some time on a sailboat during our honeymoon, but we were really diving and didn't get around to much sailing. Think our money will be tied up in raising offspring for the next however many years, but maybe some day, we'll get a boat.

Have my heart set on a VW Campervan first though!

Nymphadora · 07/04/2010 01:05

seashells congrats on the job

((((mls))) guess there isn't anything else until the appt?

Good luck to all the scans this week! Where are the twins?

day started off a bit crap, stroppedon here first thing as I was up crying worrying over dd2 & lack of stranger danger as she attempted to get in s limo last night.then got breakfast takeaway and when we went to eat it mine was missing
we went to liberty island, massive queue followed by evacuation just as we got to the front!
Day got better after that apart from a bit of sun bathing. Now watching Irobot & waiting for Will Smith in the shower

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 07/04/2010 07:09

tiredfeet you must be near us then - I was gazing enviously at the boats on Poole harbour and out to sea!

House spotless, now trying to contain toddler from wrecking it again before mum turns up! I like to maintain a pretence of control and calm

tinywelsh · 07/04/2010 08:40

Hi everyone, congrats to everyone who's had good scans so far, fingers crossed for you all.
I had another completely wasted day yesterday, got to Maelor Wrecsam and was seen very quickly. I had a second scan and the NT measurement was 6.5mm and I also learnt that the fluid is around the chest as well as the head and back. But the guy who does the cvs is on holiday and I've been booked into Liverpool Women's Hospital at 9.30am tomorrow.
Little guy (or girl) was looking very relaxed though, one arm was behind his head looking like he was on a hammock. He's grown 1cm since last time and is now 5.6cm long.

Elsa123 · 07/04/2010 09:17

Hello all! MummylovesSadie- how very distressing for you. Remember that (no offence) at your age, you'll have a high background risk anyway. To be honest, with a nuchal scan of 1.3mm (same as me), nasal bone present- I wouldn't be alarmingly worried. I would go for a second opinion though- can you go for a private scan? Having done a little research, I believe a CVS to be more reliable than an amnio, as there is a chance (small) that the cells they harvest from the amniotic fluid could be yours rather than the baby's. I hope you get to talk it through with someone.

I am so pleased I had a private scan as I've still had nothing through from the hospital and my cut off is Monday next week. Its cut the worry I have to say. I'm not having much faith in the local healthcare here!

Seashells- congratulations on the job! I am so jealous of your location! Looking out onto Poole harbour? Wow.

Tinywelsh- how annoying I hope you get some decent answers. My little one was in the same relaxed pose too! I keep thinking of it as a he too!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 07/04/2010 09:24

Hi All, been away for a few days moving house. What a total pain in the arse. Hoping against hope that all the work hasn't kicked off my SPD.

MLS sorry you are so worried and you get more clarity soo. And you tiny.

Anyhoo, just a short one as I'm still unpacking shit boxes and just came on to see how you all were.

shieldbug · 07/04/2010 10:30

hello all!
Haven't been on in a while but have managed to catch up now.

Norfolk so sorry to hear your news. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

MLS Good luck with difficult decisions. The odds may sound scary, but they are still in your favour, especially since the bleeding may have rendered the test inaccurate anyway. Personally, I don't think I would get further tests because of the risks and because I would welcome the baby no matter what, but that's not necessarily right for everybody.

tiny Hope you get some answers tomorrow and that everything turns out to be ok. Good luck.

My scan is this afternoon and I'm bricking it, especially as I've had quite a bit of pain recently. Hope everybody else who is being scanned today gets good news, with lots of healthy wriggly babies!

Nymphadora · 07/04/2010 11:54

tiny good luck with the tests , hopefully Liverpool Womens hosp is more helpful.

^shieldbug Good luck, relax & enjoy seeing your baby!

Hermya321 · 07/04/2010 12:00

Well just got back from my scan, baby seemed to be fine. It was kicking about and waving it's little arms and legs and according to the midwife was 'an active little thing'. Dh came with me and was suitably impressed. I saw the midwife as well who took a bucket full of blood from me and gave me a raff of information to be getting on with.

Nymph Oh dear, maybe DD was attracted by the shiny limo and it sort of overtook her sense of danger.

shieldbug · 07/04/2010 12:03

Thanks nymphadora. Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and dds don't give you any more worries. mmm...sunbathing...I've forgotten what warm weather feels like! Have fun!

DillyDora · 07/04/2010 12:03

Hi all

tiny I hope things go much better today and you get some answers. Thinking of you.

MLS sorry to hear about the odds you've been given but that nuchal fold measurement is good, as is the nasal bone and I had read somewhere that a recent bleed affects the accuracy of the tests. Good luck with whatever comes next. Be thinking of you too.

Congratulations on the lovely scan lilmiss

Good luck shieldbug let us know how you go!

My turn tomorrow...scared!
xxx

shieldbug · 07/04/2010 12:25

hermya great news! Congratulations.

Good luck for yours as well dilly

DillyDora · 07/04/2010 12:40

Thanks Shieldbug Hermya sorry I think we cross posted, congratulations on your wriggly wiggly baby!

My bro just wrote me an email wishing me luck for tomorrow....cried....ahem....

xx

tiredfeet · 07/04/2010 13:19

tiny I'm sorry this is so dragged out for you, will be thinking of you today and I hope you get answers finally

hermya I am delighted to hear about your scan congratulations

seashells yes not far away! A village near Southampton. Its pretty here but I would love to live where you do, I keep trying to persuade DH that we should move down Poole/ Bournemouth way, its so lovely down there and loads quieter than here.

sheildbug good luck for today, and dillydora for tomorrow

tiredfeet · 07/04/2010 13:21

abfab - a vw campervan sounds brilliant too . I know what you mean about money and children meaning plans hae to wait, I keep thinking of places I would like to go and see, and realising that it might be a long time before we manage it now. Child better be worth it

AbFabT · 07/04/2010 14:22

Good to hear from you, tiny. Sorry that the scan didn't really shed as much light on the situation, hope the visit tomorrow is more conclusive for you. Though I maintain, none of us ever really know.

ILGH, maybe you can change your name to I Loathe Moving House?! Am sure it'll be worth it once you are settled in.

shieldbug, welcome back to you too! Hope you get good news at your scan today, and you too for tomorrow, Dilly. Hermya, good news!

tiredfeet, yeah! Though we will probably get the VW Campervan in a few years when we need to start carting children about, and I think it will be a really fun way for them to travel, and holiday at the same time. I've done a lot of travelling so happy enough to settle down now, and really looking forward to this next adventure!

Hermya321 · 07/04/2010 14:32

Thanks Dilly Good luck with yours tomorrow.

Abfab we would love a VW campervan. If we ever won the lottery, it would be one of the first purchases.

Elsa123 · 07/04/2010 16:09

Congratulations Hermya!

Am I alone in feeling annoyed when midwives etc refer to the baby as just baby? Like- when baby comes...etc etc.

I know its an attempt to personalise, but it just irritates me and I would rather hear the baby or your baby- whaddo you think?!

shieldbug · 07/04/2010 16:24

Hooray! I've got a baby with a heartbeat and everything looking normal. The consultant was also pleased with the location of the fibroids although I'm going to be under consultant care because of the risks involved. Sproglet didn't move about, but she didn't seem to think that was anything to worry about. Next appointment in 4 weeks time, with another scan, so hopefully it will be a bit less lazy then!

ksal how was your scan?

elsa123 I agree- it's our baby, not just any old baby!
