Are you in 2nd trimester at 12+0 weeks or 13+0 weeks, im 13 weeks tomorrow and have no clue.
Anybody else had a killer headache, my has been pounding all day, i feel as though i need to go back to sleep but i refuse to nap, i havent had to for the entire pregnancy and refuse to today

MummyWilliams · 30/03/2010 16:12

AbFab re movements. This is my 4th pregnancy, so am able to feel movements much earlier, just squirming about. But with my first I didn't feel definate movements til about 21 weeks. I think its coz everything is much saggier looser in the tummy muscle department

Going back to the age that everyone is at, i'm 38 and will be 39 when this baby arrives. I didn't have my first child til the month before turning 30. I was one of the oldest women on the ward lol!

I forgot to mention yesterday about the scan, that the nuchal level was 1.7mm, which is good I think??? Just have to wait for the combined results to come back, very nervous coz of age.

abigailsparty · 30/03/2010 16:40

Tyson I've been getting bad headaches too, I think part of my problem was dehydration as I hadn't been drinking enough when I felt sick. Been forcing myself to keep sipping whatever I feel like, I think it's helped. Do you think you could be a bit dehydrated?

MummyWilliams I've been feeling little movements too, it's only my second PG and I thought I was going mad when it first happened. I know second timers (or third or fourth!) are supposed to recognise the feelings sooner but I thought that was ridiculous as it was about 20 weeks with DD! I mentioned it to the sonographer at my scan and asked if was possible and she said some women did tell her they could feel something at 12 weeks and everyone was different. Since then it's happened quite a lot, it's a distinctive feeling isn't it?
Also, my nuchal level was measured at 0.7mm which was very low, I think anything under 3mm is considered low so it sounds positive to me! It's horrible waiting, do you know when you're likely to get the results back? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Tyson86 · 30/03/2010 17:30

abigailsparty it could be but everytime i eat or drink something i bring it back up, i dont believe ive got bad morning sickness but it keeps getting me when im trying to eat/drink. Dont dare take paracetamol's as i have thrown them up before and it is not pleasant. Ill try to drink more this evening

MummyWilliams · 30/03/2010 18:16

abigailsparty they said it will be just over a week by letter, but if serious they will telephone. It's funny (well not funny as in ha! ha!) you have all the worry up to the first scan, now the part of waiting for blood results. Then I suppose the next worry will be the anomaly scan at 20 weeks... then it will be time to REEEEEELAX!!!

lilmissmummy · 30/03/2010 18:25

Thank you for all your kind messages. The doctor was very nice and said there was very little that he can do. He said it is a mild case of hyperemesis and that he would keep an eye on it. He gave me some gaviston type stuff and also some tablets for heartburn but unless I am overly dehydrated or malnourished then there was nothing they can do tyson the doctor said that fizzy full fat drinks help the sickness and encourage you to drink more because of the sugar. Maybe that will help?

nevermind hopefully it will get better once I join most of you in the 2nd tri!

Great that you are feeling movements

Do you think that you get bigger and sicker every pregnancy? I had a reasonably easy time with my last 2 but this one I am really struggling. (whispers: worried that I am the one with the twins shh) tiny I would be absolutely furious!

ivy NCT sales are brilliant and once people you know find out you are pregnant then I am sure you will get loads of hand me down offers and pressies for baby! When I had dc1 I had to write nearly 100 thank you letters.

Also to those who are due September or November hope you stay here with us, it would be sad to lose you to another group!

Nymphadora · 30/03/2010 18:37

floozie it was booked before I was pg!

We are selling my house so it's sort of on the understanding that will be sold soon!

lilmiss i was 20 & 21 with my dds so it's quite a shock this time it's not as easy on my old body

I have been so tired today. And all my work was at the end of the day with no one to cover so I kept going with haribos & pepsi which left the awful taste but at least I could drive. Going in late tomorrow though.

Also struggling with my meds as I tend to throw up when they go in my mouth am having to take them with food

Hermya321 · 30/03/2010 18:55

Dilly I know what you mean, DH is still looking for a job. I hope yours finds one soon!!!

lilmiss I hope you're feeling better!!

seashells Thats a fantastic bonnet!!

Ivy LOL at the cat bed!! Your LO will never ever know, I suspect cat beds are more comfortable. Just go on ebay/freecycle you'll be able to pick up most things cheaper than you think. Thats my plan, to be honest if ebay did vouchers I would be asking for them.

I don't know where the summer has gone to, we've had thunder and lightening round my way.

Is anyone else loosing the will to live with work and stuff. I'm so tired and just want to curl up in a corner and tell everyone to bog off and leave me alone!!

Tyson86 · 30/03/2010 19:03

Ivy I got my baby bath from freecycle. Some things are very good condition on there.

AbFabT · 30/03/2010 19:56

shieldbug, I'm the same - I only met the right man for me when I was 34. Luckily we moved fast, got married a year later, and now here we are, I'm nearly 36. I don't feel old, I feel fit and energetic, but I do have those concerns about the age-related risks. What can you do though, eh?

Oh, and no, no twins here, unless one was hiding - apparently we are at increased chance of twins at our ripe old ages!

lilmiss, hope you feel better soon.

tinywelsh, that really is a rubbish MD you have there - just focus on the fact that you will be out of there in about six months!

Xavielli, by all means stay! If you are November, I may well balance you out and get into September - I am dated for 4th October but my mum had me five days early, so who knows!

Tyson, I only knew I was into Tri Two as I have a pregnancy ticker elsewhere and it told me. I was 13 weeks though, so there is your answer! And YES - I had a headache this afternoon, really pounding. Was thinking maybe I hadn't drunk enough, but maybe it's just a pregnancy headache. Hope you are feeling better. Mine is still slightly present, and I've drunk and eaten.

Well, MummyWilliams, I am a little envious you can already feel movement! As well as being a little looser internally, do you think it could be that you know what it feels like?

jennimoo · 30/03/2010 20:00

Ivy - I agree on freecycle / freegle (google both and look for your area) I advertised for a Moses basket and got email today offering one, and a cot! I'll get new mattresses but still saves loads!
Also eBay is good: I got a grobag for £4 delivered. Second hand but fine.
Saves lots of money and if you start early you can take your time and find bargains!
X

SilverSky · 30/03/2010 20:07

Evening all.

Nowt on tv this evening. What's a preggo to do? Oh I know, I'll eat. Some more.

At lunchtime today, I was stocking up on foods I could stomach like its going out of fashion. Today I have scoffed nearly a whole Mint Aero bar, nope not the handy normal size but a mahoosive one! Was so scrummy. Dread to think of the calories.

My dad is a nonidentical twin, so hope its not me that is a potential twinny! Guess we'll find out next week. Can't wait!

Like some of you gals, I is a bit the wrong side of 30, well according to the quacks, it makes me an older mother!!

So, like I have said before I have the same worries as the rest of you regarding baby's health and stuff, and not all the scans are accurate. As one person already said (sorry can't remember name) that her MW had a 1 in 2 chance of having a Down's baby and the little person came out just fine. So I guess there is always a chance that everything will be hunkydory.

Only thing I can feel move is my bowels with the increased amount of wind I am suffering from. Its insane and quite frankly I wouldn't be out of place in a farting (apols if too vulgar!!) competition and I wouldn't even be ashamed to place cash on that I might even win!! Anyways I won't mention the F word again!

Oh I just remembered OBEM is on in a mo! Whoop Whoop! Its all research!!!!

SilverSky · 30/03/2010 20:18

Anyone know if its safe to munch pine nuts and seeds??

AbFabT · 30/03/2010 20:50

Silver, that was me with the MW who was given the 50% chance of a DS baby. I also think ok, so I am given a 1 in 1595 chance - nothing to say I won't be that one though, is there.

And I believe nuts and seeds are fine.

SilverSky · 30/03/2010 21:09

Ta AFABT

Someone else on another thread said that no matter what the odds, you (not you! As in you! But you get my drift!) could be the one.

There is always the chance, isn't there?

We'll deal with whatever is thrown at us.

AbFabT · 30/03/2010 21:19

Silver, yeah. Got to be someone, after all. And yes, we'd cope. You just want your child to be lucky for them more than yourselves, I think.

MummyLovesSadie · 30/03/2010 21:23

Yes I'm sure nuts & seeds are fine.... but chocolate is better for you!

I had my scan today thank goodness everything so far is ok. The nuchal measurement is 1.3mm. I'll hear about the blood test in 10 days by letter if all is ok, or by phone call if it's not. They have put me ahead of my dates - 13 weeks today with an edd of 5th Oct (the day after dd's 3rd birthday)! If I'm 13 weeks am I in the second trimester?

Headaches - yes I've had some spectacular ones over the last week but they seem to have eased off.

Age - I was 37 when I had dd, I'm 40 now & will be 41 when I have this one !

Movement - I'm sure I've been able to feel movement since week 10 but have been a bit embarrassed to tell anyone!

Off to watch one born now!

SilverSky · 30/03/2010 21:24

AbT I agree.

We or should I say I can't help but have this gut feeling that it will be us that are the chosen ones. Don't ask me why! Just do. More than happy to be proved otherwise. I've got another 30 weeks to ponder this!

I think if I was 25 and not 35 I'd be a lot less concerned.......

Anyone watching OBEM??

Tyson86 · 30/03/2010 21:39

Thanks for the dehydrated advice, although iam very tired atm, i have spent the evening drinking and my headache has eased for the first time today

FingonTheValiant · 30/03/2010 21:42

MummyLovesSadie that's fab news, congratulations!
And congrats to Vikks and mummywilliams too, especially with the movement

I'm getting very nervous about scans, mines on Thursday, I really hope the baby is hanging on tightly! I panicked when my nausea vanished last week, but I almost fainted in the middle of my very formal MA graduation on Saturday, and then threw up my lovely parent-bought celebration dinner as soon as I got home - so I'm reassured that he's back to his old tricks.

tiredfeet I'm 24 and while none of my family seem to think I'm too young, I'm slightly dreading telling some of my friends. I had to tell old college mates when I almost collapsed on Sat (there were St John's folk rushing round me like deranged chickens) and they all clearly had no idea what to do with the news, I didn't get a single congrats

shieldbug I meant to reply a few days ago. I'm about to polish off "the fellowship" for this year's reading I cant wait to get on to "two towers" though, but for me it's all about getting to "ROTK", I love them all so much. I have no idea who you are though, you'll be relieved to hear

silversky I'm recording OBEM, cant wait til I can watch it tomorrow, I'm addicted. And I'm sure that feeling of doom is normal, try not to worry, please I have the same feeling about Thursday.

SilverSky · 30/03/2010 21:42

Tyson I found my headaches improved when I drank more, so stick with it.

AbFabT · 30/03/2010 22:06

MLS, great news. And welcome to the second trimester!

Silver, yes, and it's weird, because in other aspects of my life I am very positive and think the best. I guess this is a sort of self-preparation, in case something isn't quite right, and if everything IS right, then we'll just be relieved. Better not to just assume everything is perfect and be totally shocked, perhaps? I'm still going to focus on positive thinking, mind!

Just watched OBEM, yes. Owwwww, it all looks so painful! Argh!

SilverSky · 30/03/2010 22:19

The worst bit for me tonight was hearing that girl throw up!!! That is my biggest fear in general.

I am rubbish with that end of things. Poo - no probs. Puke - OMG someone help me please! I hate it when the animals are poorly and I hate seeing it in the street after the young un's have had a night out.

Husband knows how bad I am, so much so that if we are watching a programme and he knows a vom moment is coming, he puts his hands over my eyes! I then stick my fingers in my ears!!!

I hate flying in case I am sat near someone that is travel sick, same as on trains and stuff. I also can't watch Casualty or anything like that.

Perhaps I need some therapy?!!

MummyLovesSadie · 30/03/2010 22:31

Silver did you know that fear of vomit is one of the most common phobias???!

Hermya321 · 30/03/2010 22:35

mls Great news about ur scan, I'm really pleased for you!
